The Return to the Planet of the Apes animated TV series was released on DVD in the U.S. in 2006. A version of the series was included in the 2006 "The Ultimate DVD Collection" with the bust of Caesar, but the remastering of the episodes had not been completed when that collection was released. The standalone discs contain much better-looking episodes.

In 2006, Fox Home Entertainment released Planet of the Apes: The Ultimate DVD Collection. The DVD box set was housed in a bust of Caesar, and it consisted of all five original movies, the TV series, the animated series, and the 2001 monstrosity. At the time of its release, the animated series Return to the Planet of the Apes had not previously been released for home video. Unfortunately, the remastering of those episodes was not completed before this set was released. A few months later, the fully-remastered Return DVDs were released in a standalone package, leave the "Ultimate" set a little shy of actually being ultimate.

Blu-ray Releases

In 2008, Fox Video released all of the Apes films on Blu-ray in the limited edition 40-Year Evolution box set, which also included a large hardback book covering the Apes franchise.

The discs are feature-packed, with tons of extras, including new segments and documentaries created for the set, as well as a CGI-animated Lawgiver introducing the extras.

The most exciting new features of the set were the inclusion of the original version of Conquest of the Planet of the Apes and the extended version of Battle. The new Conquest has several more scenes of violence and Caesar's original speech, which isn't as touchy-feely as the theatrical release. The new Battle restored previous excised scenes involving the mutants and the Alpha-Omega bomb.

Fox Video also released the Apes films individually in 2008. In 2011, Fox Video collected those releases into a new 5-Film Collection box set.

The discs were identical to the discs in the 2008 box set.
