CBS cancelled the Planet of the Apes TV show during its initial run in
Fall 1974. As had been done for Star Trek almost a decade before, there
was an attempt by fans to get CBS to change their minds by urging fans to write letters
to various entities. The campaign was run under the name Operation: Ape
Revival, and thanks to Lori, here are scans of the letter sent out to
people interested in writing letters on behalf of the show. The letter was
postmarked January 22, 1976, which was a bit late, considering the show went
off the air in Decemeber 1974! Still, the organizer said she received
"tremendous response" at up to 30–40 letters a day, but that
wasn't anything close to the effective Star Trek campaign.
