POTA GROUP GUIDELINES

• Please be courteous and respectful of other members. While discussion and differences of opinion are natural, please keep all such discussions friendly without name-calling or attacking someone for holding a different opinion.

• No trashing or bashing of any other POTA group, website or individual will be allowed. If you have an issue with another member, please take it offline.

• Please keep all discussions PG rated. While we do not want to discourage adult topics, please discuss them in an adult manner. Foul language is not permitted.

• If a topic or thread does not interest you please pass it by or start a new topic. Please do not put-down other members or try to shut down a thread because you are not interested in it. 

• Please remember the purpose of the group is to discuss Planet of the Apes. If you wish to discuss politics or Star Trek or something else, there are sites designed for those topics. All topics should be relatable back to Planet of the Apes. News of POTA alumni is always welcome but long reviews & discussions of Patton or Marky Mark’s latest film may be over the line. Please keep Off Topic posts brief and remember to put (OT) in the subject line.

• Please refrain from one line back and forth posts with another member. These are boring to everyone else and should be confined to private emails. All posts and replies should be addressed to the  group as a whole not to any specific individual. 

• Please no spam posts that are sent to multiple groups. We are not interested in Dating Services or any other product you may be selling. While we welcome POTA related news and realize some members wish to share with all the groups they belong to, please use common sense since many members here also belong to other related groups and do not wish to see the same message repeated 4 or 5 times.

• Please do not cut & paste another person’s post from this group into other forums or groups. Nor is posting of cut & pasted posts, written by someone else, allowed here. This is disrespectful to the person who originally wrote said post since it is their choice to decide where they want to post it. If you see a post that you think would interest members here, please just post a link to it.

• Please do not cc: replies to posts in this group to other groups or replies to posts from other groups to this group. This is a backdoor cut & paste and again is disrespectful to the author of the original post being replied to as well as being spam when a reply is sent to multiple groups. 

• Like other well known and respected web sites and discussion groups, WE CANNOT SUPPORT THE OPEN TRADING OF ILLEGAL CD-Rs AND DVD-Rs ON THIS BOARD, PLEASE REFRAIN FROM DOING THIS, IF YOU DO PLEASE DO THIS PRIVATELY. We believe that the copying of newly released or recently issued Compact Discs and DVDs, which are still available to purchase, is wrong as this practice can only harm any future releases.

• News of other POTA groups or websites and their activities are welcome. But we do not tolerate diminishing other groups or sites, so please discuss in a respectful manner. Also, please do not post complaints or criticisms about this group, its members, features or activities in other forums nor are we interested in hearing complaints about other groups.

• All we require of members is to have an active working email address to receive Special Notices. If your email address repeatedly bounces, you will be removed from the group. If you join as a ‘No Email’ member you will automatically be switched to the ‘Special Notices only’ option. If you do not wish to receive Special Notices, you are advised to leave the group.

• All of our moderators are volunteers and represent different points of view. Thus, sometimes what one moderator may see as objectionable; another may not. While we try to be as consistent as possible, we are not perfect. 

• All members of the group are here voluntarily. Nobody is forcing you to be a member of this group. The moderators try their best to be fair, and to make group a welcoming & positive place for POTA fans who want to be here to celebrate their love of POTA. If you do not like the way we run the group then we strongly suggest that you exercise your right to leave. If we decide that you do not like this place very much and contributing negatively, then we reserve the right to show you the door ourselves.

• If you have an issue with any of the above guidelines or how the group is run or feel a post was unfairly deleted or that you were unfairly treated, please do not address in public posts. Also do not address it in other public forums; doing so will be grounds for removal from the group.
