.htmlI agree, especially in the case of Roddy, who was such a movie lover. He
made all that time in his last year to do the documentary stuff, and for
both of them it was such an important series in their career. They've had
about as much time to watch them as most of us have been alive! I can only
assume they heeded Zauis' advice: "Don't look for it. You may not like what
you find". - - - K.

All I know is it's going to be tough to pull a sequel together if Burton
doesn't do it. The cast said that's the only way they'd return. There has
to be SOME continuity because of that ending. But they could do just by
getting Wahlberg.
Let's have a show of hands. Who wants a sequel? I do, because it's good
for the franchise overall. Plus the next one might be better. Do you want
this to be how today's kids know "Apes"?
- - - Jeff K.
I want a sequel, BUT. . . . ONLY IF IT'S BETTER! You're right, it will be
good for the franchise (If that's what you choose to call it -- I prefer
'legacy' [Less crass and commercial]), BUT. . . AGAIN. . . ONLY IF IT'S
BETTER. As far as most of the cast returning. . . Do you really think it
matters? Actor's under the makeup are easily replaceable (One of the few
problems I have with BENEATH is David Watson's Cornelius -- He's perfectly
fine.), and as far as Wahlberg goes. . . Well, I never wanted him in the
movie in the first place, so when the sequel opens the apes can just blow him
away right off the bat.
Would anyone here really miss Wahlberg?

This is no rumour, my dear. This is an actual story from Reuters news
service. Burton is simply toast after working under the recent mad
deadline. I'm sure he'll come around after a short time. As I said
when I first posted this story, file it under "Money talks, BS walks."

think that Thade went back to the future? He doesn't have to. Not really. If
you look at the time line on the Apes official site. It looks like this.
Current Location Current Location
Apes City Oberon
100 200 300 400 500

Forbidden Zoon

Okay Leo and Oberon went back to the past. If they did then Thade wouldn't
have to worry about his future. Leo would have changed it not matter what.
Not nesacierly meaning that Apes rulled, but that it would be diffrent.About
the horse thing. If the planet futiend like Earth. Then that means that other
animals could have evolved. Like in are Earth. As for air plains and such.
Who cares ?? Humans never saw flying machines before, and we still were abel

I wish it had been taken farther too. The chemistry was certainly
there. (Whereas I got zilch from Daena and Leo.) But it's pretty

Yes, I'd say it would be fun, as well, because when the apes went

I saw any episodes of the series. At the time, I was one who thought

This is no rumour, my dear. This is an actual story from Reuters news
service. Burton is simply toast after working under the recent mad
deadline. I'm sure he'll come around after a short time. As I said
when I first posted this story, file it under "Money talks, BS walks."

I still say Tim Burton WILL NOT do the sequel, if there is one. I'm sure he
knows that he failed to make a very good movie and that with the demands of
the studio it's even more unlikely that he could make a better sequel. He's
going to be more than happy to let another director do it.

I think Burton's comments can be
taken with a grain of salt. He also said this week, to Empire Online, that "I
like to f*** with people's heads. His quote to them about a sequel was, "I did
think about it, but the idea of me doing any of that right now, I'd rather jump
out the window". That he even thought about it, and I guess Tim Roth said they
discussed it (right, Alex?) probably means the experience wasn't that bad.
Burton likes to come off as the anti-Hollywood artist.
He was also reluctant to do the
"Batman" sequel ("I didn't want to do the "Batman" sequel initially because I
was kinda burnt out, and I din't know what I could bring to it.It took me a long
time to get interested in it again". - - "Burton on Burton" book). But he came
around.
Right now it's up in the air whether
Fox wants a sequel, but this is only it's 4rth weekend out and who knows what it
will do overseas. I think it would be fine if Burton returns, but he's
only as good as his script so Fox needs to find the next Paul Dehn and support
them.

I want a
sequel, BUT. . . . ONLY IF IT'S BETTER! You're right, it will be
good for the franchise (If that's what you choose to call it -- I prefer
'legacy' [Less crass and commercial]), BUT. . . AGAIN. . . ONLY IF IT'S
BETTER. As far as most of the cast returning. . . Do you really
think it matters? Actor's under the makeup are easily
replaceable (One of the few problems I have with BENEATH is David Watson's
Cornelius -- He's perfectly fine.), and as far as Wahlberg goes. . . Well,
I never wanted him in the movie in the first place, so when the sequel
opens the apes can just blow him away right off the bat.
Would

In the N.A.T.O. Presentation short there's part of a scene in PLANET that was
cut from the final film. It's part of the scene where Taylor and Nova are in
his cage just before Julius comes with a hose and the pair are seperated.
These are some lines Taylor speaks before he tries to teach Nova her name and
says, "Yeah, me Tarzan, you Jane."
With Nova's head resting on his lap, Taylor says these lines:
"They're afraid of me. I can't hurt them, but... I somehow threaten them. I
threaten their sense of simian superiority. They'll have to kill me too."
It's not much, but I keep wondering if it should have been left in, but
perhaps it's better cut?
Anybody else who's watched it got an opinion? Also, did you see that great

Good one, Rory. I had problems with
"Batman Returns" but at least it was interest. I think that was the opposite
extreme, in that Burton had too much power. He had done no wrong at that point,
all of his films had been big hits and "Batman" was a monster. I forget the
budget but it was way over $100 million and that was 10 years ago. It's an odd
thing with Burton, his movies are so his own "vision" that n one knows where to
jump in and say "That's not working". "Returns" is actually my favorite of the
Batmans. There's actually 3 "Batman" movies in development, plus a "Catwoman"
movie, so it can't be said Burton sinks franchises.

and Alex is happy. What else can you ask?
As for me, I'm looking forward to the release of the 1966 "Batman" movie on

that. There's some films coming out in the next few weeks I know I'll go
see. The DVDs of "Citizen Kane" and a special edition "An American Werewolf
in London" comes out next month. The original "Planet of the Apes" is still
my favorite film. I look forward to the next time I watch my great looking
DVD of it. And so it goes, life goes on.
So, how's things with you?

I actually have a timeline written where everything WORKS (and few of you
on the list have seen it). No alternate universes or anything like that.
It was originally supposed to go in the Russo book but Fox nixed it, then
Alex was going to put it up on prophecysite.com but now that's gone
(unless you'd still like to do something with it Alex?). I need a site
where this can be presented properly, then everyone can enjoy it.
Suggestions?

I heard somewhere that Fox doesn't
own the rights to the "Batman" TV show, just the 1966 movie. But Rory wants a
special edition of "Batman Returns". Fox sold the rights to "Lost in Space"...
to "Behind the POTA" director Kevin Burns!

.html Well, Roger Ebert summed it up, when talking about Big Budget B Pictures. He
said they were formula pics with big budgets and the last thing they wanted
to be was daring or original. And stray away from tackling tough or
controversial issues.
And then proceeded to lump Apes in with the likes of Tomb Raider. That
pretty much says it all. <.html

I think Burns bought ( or at least wanted to buy) the rights to ALL of
the Fox produced Irwin Allen TV shows. Fox lost the rights to the '66 Batman
when the 1st Burton movie came out. I had thought they reverted back to
DC comics or they wanted to place an embargo on them being released on
video at the time to prevent comparisons. Could be wrong though.

Ken,
I
think it should read:
Well, heck,
why not? You could do it as a fanfic. The whole group could
be a
part of it , and we could just see how close or

ie
Write a "script" as a group and then after the movie is released, see

Linda Harrison played a cheerleader
on a "Batman" episode. As for Roddy, I can vouch for him being quiet and
workmanlike. I saw him in this small Christmas play in '96 and during breaks the
company would walk around, talk, etc. Roddy sat in a corner going over the
script. Wiliam (Prez) Windom was in that play too.
