Actually, I'm not sure Kong dies 'atop' the Empire State Building. He
gets pretty wounded up there but I've always thought it was the fall,
particularly the sudden stop at the end, that finally nailed him.Unless
you count death at the box office.John, Scrolls.

My, how Cabo Wabo affects the mind...!
I really need a place that allows an open port to reflect.
Every place seems closed...
HELP...!
The apes are chasing me!
My "blogs" are clogged!
I need a wide open space where I can vent. Where there are no
boundries.
Perhaps a website of my own or some place where I can feel other
emotions.
Or bites.
Thade is chasing me and I am running out of places to hide!
I am a student of fiction and recieve excellent grades/ not
neccasrilly in grammar, yet I adore the ape.
HIDE ME!!!

I like the banner. But I can't take credit for it. It was provided by
Dave Ballard. I think it looks festive.

Did anyone else notice this? When Kong slips off the ESB it seemed to
be chorographed similar to Leo DiCaprio's death in Titanic. (Except
that Kong's death was sad.)

I pressed send a little prematurely on my previous post. I was going
to ask, do you suppose the mutants had anything to celebrate? Happy
ethnic holidays? They have a lot of ritual, but "joy" doesn't seem to
describe their life experience, although I suppose everything is
relative.

Anyway,

Happy holidays to all. The homepage picture doesn't seem as odd as it
might in a year of upside down Christmas trees and world events. And,
I do like the star.

Dear Apes,

Okay, let's go:

1- I need an account of the cartoon: fictional dates, characters,
events, setting and scenario. I'm talking about 'RETURN TO THE
PLANET OF THE APES'(1975), of course. I have to understand if it's
possible to link the world of 'RETURN' and the "TERRA APE" we can
see in the spectacular ending of POTA 2001. I have to know more
clues about the Venturer and the Stanton Curve for instance.

2- OBERON USAF Station. How many millennia the station crashed
before LEO? Is there a date showed on some display? (only the movie
as reference, please, that's the real *CANON*). I'm sure someone
mentioned something about it, about 'CALIMA' (ARI?). I think 4
millennia is near to the reality.

3- An account of the GESALT MIND. Facts, characters, history (what
we can learn from 'BENEATH THE PLANET OF THE APES'). I have a BIG
problem here, maybe the only real fault of the ALTERED TIMELINE
interpretation. I have to learn MORE and MORE about the 'Mendez I'
mentioned in BENEATH (who was him anyway? Don't remember) and MENDEZ
XIV himself. I have to understand HOW I can 'justify' the presence
of 'that' Mendez in APELINE TWO ('BATTLE FOR THE PLANET OF THE
APES'). Too much of a coincidence, since the ORIGINAL Mendez (I) of
APELINE ONE raised in the 26Th Century (remember, that's when the
Nuclear Conflict happened in the original timeline). So basically
there's a MENDEZ bearing the Doomsday Bomb aprox. 500 years BEFORE
the Mendez (I) mentioned in BENEATH. I have to 'unflub' this in
order to give coherence to the Altered Timeline scenario (which is
NOT a theory but an interpretation).

Please, POTA FANS, help to make a better DATABASE. Mine is one of
the greatest timelines ever written, maybe the greatest, and yes,
there's no Mothership around (sorry Pat I couldn't resist! Still, I
think Tilton is a genius on its own).

Merry CAESARMAS to everyone!

I can't speak for everyone, but personally I have about as much
interest in linking POTA & Burton's Apes as I do in helping Pat
unflub the flubs.  And I think the ending was anything but
spectacular.  I though it was a lackluster ending that
Burton stole from the book because he couldn't
come up with anything to top the original.

In my mail today was the first issue of "Revolution on the Planet of the Apes". All I can say is outstanding.

The comic is divided into the three main parts.

The first is the main story detailing the aftermath of Caesar's takeover in Conquest. It begins with a simple 2 page timeline recaping the events from Taylor's launch through the end of Conquest. Then we see the happening's in Washington as the President tries to deal with the crisis as well as Caesar coping with building a new civilization. Plus some other related action. The writing is crisp & true to the spirit of the films and we've all seen how great the artwork is.

The next section is Caesar's Journal. Written from his prespective on lined note paper (with some simple illustrations), it gives further insight into the character as well as adding texture to the main story.

The third section is a back story about the President, taking place two years earlier during his campaign. The name of the President is a tip of the hat to certain POTA alumnus. The writing is as good as the main story as is the artwork. Again this adds additional depth to the happenings in the main story.

The comic is very well produced with all pages printed on glossy stock. All in all a first class job. Can't wait for the next issue now.

BTW as I was rereading it I noticed that on the Table of Contents page Ty Templeton had authographed my copy. (Thanks Ty!) Now as much as I would like to keep what will surely become a valuable collectable one day, in the spirit of the holidays, I'd like to offer it to one lucky member of the group.

After the holidays, the week of January 2nd, we will begin a new group contest where one lucky member will win the autographed copy of Revolution #1.

To be eligible there are certain requirements:

  1. Buy a copy of the new comic at your local comic book store. If you don't have a store nearby you can buy it online here: http://www.milehighcomics.com/cgi-bin/nice.cgi?action=list&title=OCT053108 (What's good about this site you can purchase an online subscription for all 6 issues.)
  2. Post a review of the comic here and more importantly write to MR Comics (mrcomics@... ) to let them know what you think. They really want to hear your feedback.
  3. Answer the trivia questions about this and past POTA comics. The first person to get all correct, wins!

It as simple as that for a chance at a piece of POTA history.

Happy Holidays everyone!

James,

The time has come. They are re-issuing the whole series on DVD, or at
least the SEQUELS. So let's do a PETITION for 'BATTLE' in order to
restore the missing 10 minutes. In the petition we have to specify
WHAT was featured in those deleted scenes of course.
I'm not English, I don't know how to start the whole thing. Please,

I've added a Banner that links to the petition on the Home Page.
That banner can be downloaded for use on other webpages. I urge all
POTA webmasters and Group Owners to display this bannner on their
Home Page.

If anyone needs help with HTML code, please let me know.

James,

I'm extensively promoting the 'BATTLE FOR BATTLE' on IMDB and many
sites out of there. I'm planning a deeper promotion among the sci-fi
buffs.

Give me time.

True, but it has only been up for a little over 24 hours during a major

Can't add the banner on my group for reasons of 'policy' (it's ABOUT
theories and 'written' files, and I don't wanna waste this 'design' -
anyway I posted the petition and contacted many members via mail) but
I'm promoting the campaign VERY BAD on Internet Movie Database and
EVERY site I had contact with before, and believe me in the few
following months I'll do incredible things for the PETITION.

It's matter of time, maybe it will take one year or even much more,
petitions DO this way, trust me.

17 sigs in 24 hours are an impressive achievement to me.

Well, we only have about a month or so. FOX has announced the reissues
of the sequels for the end of March. So they would have to start
production by mid-Febuary/late-March. My hope is to send it to them by
the end of January. Hopefully, we'll have at least 500 to 1,000
signatures by then.

Resin piece. Resin is pretty easy to fix BUT YOU GOTTA use a Super Glue
or Cyanoacrylate Epoxy which you can pick up even in your local Mal-
Wart or K-Mart Ihave even used that JB Weld it's also a two part Cement
that I SWEAR I used it to mount a heavy Model of the USS Enterprise to
a Chrome Hat Stand and when a Scorned Girlfriend Sent it flying from a
Second Story Window...Well Amazingly enough the ONLY Part that remained
together was where the JB Weld affixed the Ship to the Stand!!! Yeah so
for $5.00 bucks this will last ya' forever and if ya' just want the
regular strength stuff I recogmend the "Loctite" Brand Super Glue All
of this is avail. at your local Dept. Stores and I don't know how much
you build these type of Kits G, But IF you didn't know the Basics (hey
ya' gotta start somewhere right? ) Well Don't forget to Rinse Off all
the parts to get rid of any "Release Agents" (Oils) or it'll be a Bitch
to get any Paint to Adhere to your Surfaces. Then I ALWAYS use the
Accrylic Paints "Apple Barrel" or "Delta Cremecoat" is a couple of
Brands you can pick up at most craft Stores for as little as Sixty Cent
a Bottle and OF COURSE you'll want to get a can of FLAT CLEAR COAT!
VERY IMPORTANT,This way after each Layer of Paint you are happy
with, you can Seal it off so IF you screw up on the next Phase (Easy to
do!lol) You can wash it off without ruining your Previous Work! I hope

The resin models I built are garage kits, more or less.
Though the sculpt is excellent, the fit of the parts
isn't even close.  So you have to have a glue that
fills the space.  Super Glue works fine on breaks
where the broken pieces fit together exactly.

X-File FBI Agent Called "Actress X" She's Wearing Nuthin But A Sheer
Teddy and Stockings and on the Floor is her Conservitive Pants Suit
She has One Leg Up on a Chair,Anyhoo These Guys Take these thing to
Shows(Conventions) all over the Country like "Chiller" here on the
East Coast or "Wonderfest" The Biggest One Where we all get together
and Talk Kits and there's Contests and Actors from Horror and Sci-Fi
Show up Anyhoo, you'd wonder what An Actress Like Gillian Anderson
might think of a Model of herself Nude? Well Wonder No More
Apparently Someone Slipped her one of these Kits Built Up and
AMAZINGLY It Showed up in a Magazine (In Style iirc) In the
Background when a Film Crew Did a Photo shoot in her House. She
Apparently Displays it Right in her Bedroom! Pretty Cool if ya' ask
me And Finally, There is a Great Magazine Availible "Amazing Figure
Modeler" they Also have a website and every issue has a theme (this
month is King Kong) They can show you What's all out there. And they

I was on another Yahoo Group I Frequent about the Classic Universal
Monsters,While I was Asking about Some Pictures/Scans (of the Mummy)
I needed I Accidently Found another POTA Fan and best of all made a
Great Friend! So We're Writting back & Fourth and in the Course of
this My new Buddy mentions he USED to collect the Old Aurora Models
(The Monsters) and that he had moved on to the More Expensive Resin
Kits (we've been Disscussing here lately lol) Anyhoo The Best Part
was during our Communications,he revealed that he still had the 6
ORIGINAL APE KITS Packed away in his Attic,Now there was a 7th "Apes"
kit made back in the 70's by this Company Addar,This called "Gorrilla
On Stallion" To be honest,I'd NEVER knew this as an eight year old
back in 1974! But I saw this for the First Time in that
great "Collecting Planet Of The Apes Stuff" Book and I saw a Pic on-
line. Well that Model IF you can find it goes for Hundreds of Bucks!
But in 2001 (Just in time for that dreadful Remake I guess)A company
called Polar Lights Who,up to this time had been re-releaseing MOST
of the Old Aurora Monster Kits From the Sixties and 70's rereleased
the first Four of the old Addar POTA Models! I Couldn't believe it
when I walked into a Toy's "R" Us and there were Shelves filled with
the Original Apes! I thought I'd Traveled back through "Hasline's
Curve" to 27 years earlier! lol Anyhoo the Only Bummer was for some
reason Polar Lights Decided to Only Release the First four Apes
(Cornelius,Zira,Zaius and Ursus) I was kinda Hoping for that Ape On
Stallion but beggers can't be Choosers! So I snapped up Multipiles
of what they had (and after a while they began selling them out
Cheap) I guess Kids today weren't interested in the Old Apes. So
anyhoo,I Still had wished I could somehow Get my hands on the Ceaser
and Aldo Kits that were part of the Original Set Well That's when I
got Lucky with my new Friend he Happened to have ALL THE ORIGINALS
APE MODELS (minus the Stallion But Hey Who Cares! lol) And EVEN
BETTER he was willing to sell them to me for next to nuthin! So that
is what my Wifey got me for Christmas! and Since I already have the
fist Four Done on my Shelf I'm Only doing the Ceaser & Aldo and
leaving the Other Four as this guy Painted them in 1974! Anyhoo I
suppose if you're reading this you're Saying "So What?" Well It's
Just Cool that's all I mean How often to we really get to Go back
and IMPROVE on something from our Childhood? I mean my Painting
skills have gotten A TINY bit better! lol So Of course These Kits had
all the Pieces But I hadn't Done these since 1975 So I had to look
to you guys & Gals here for Reference Pics to help me Build these
with out the Instructions. I thank you Tim,James for the Pics! and
I'll Post Pics as soon as I finish them. This time I'm taking my time
and Doing these As Accurete as possible. I do ask you this though,Is
there Major Differences between ALDO'S Uniform in "Battle" And the
Gorrilla's Uniforms in the Original POTA? MY Opinion is it looks as
though Aldo's Leather Jacket is a Bit Blue Hued more so than the
Earlier Gorrila's of "Planet" Would you agree? I like to Research the
Crap outta my Subject before I start Painting! lol Well anyhoo in

It begins here! We go right from the end of the Escape adaptation last week, jumping ahead about 18 years Earth-time to Marvel's adaptation on Conquest of the Planet of the Apes! The amazing Alfredo Alcala is back doing the art, so those of you who haven't seen these comics are in for a treat.

This week's bonus features are two photos: one from Planet and one from Conquest, and a letter column.

I would be remiss if I didn't note for Ape comics fans everywhere that today is the day you'll be able to purchase the first issue of Revolution on the Planet of the Apes, the new Apes comic from Mr. Comics. Support your local comic store. Not sure you have one? Try the comic store locator service here:

If the nearest store is too far away, you can order the comic on line at either of these two links:
