Good questions. I have a multi-format drive, so I can burn either DVD+Rs or DVD-Rs, and my max write speed is 8x, so that won't be a problem either.
Anyone who wants to supply their own disks should contact Terry and he'll put you in touch with the nearest person, geographically speaking. If that person has specific format and write speeds for their drive
they will let you know.

.htmlHi Michael!
After the contest has ended, and you award the printed copy to a contributer; will you be willing to sell me a copy? (that is if I don't win
). I am very, very interested in having a printed version.
I truly enjoy Beware The Beast, as well as the new Within The POTA.
If you are willing to sell me a copy, let me know how much I would owe you including shipping to the USA; and how I can pay you. I do have a PayPal account, if that helps.
Thanks Michael!

Hey All!
The new comic is heating up and we want feedback!
I will be choosing one contributor to receive a copy of the printed comic - Beware the Beast (yes, the printed version has bonus pages
not available anywhere else!).
To win this prize, simply read the strip and comment/speculate!

He also wrote "Garden on the moon" and a short story collection called
"Time out of mind". I enjoyed the collection but read it years ago so I
don't remember any of the story details. I picked up "Garden on the
moon" off ebay a while back, but haven't gotten around to reading it
yet.

He also wrote "Garden on the moon" and a short story collection called
"Time
out of mind". I enjoyed the collection but read it years ago so I don't
remember any of the story details. I picked up "Garden on the moon" off
ebay
a while back, but haven't gotten around to reading it yet.

Yep. It's about a multinational race (US, Soviets, Japan, etc) to get
to the moon. The following URL should give you a brief description
(towards the bottom). Seems quite interesting and that's why I kept my
eye out for it.
http://www.ansible.co.uk/writing/pboulle.html"
It is interesting to note that the english translation of this novel
was done by the same person that did Planet: Xan Fielding.
The "Time out of Mind" collection is also SF.

This make's no sense.
Like Jonathan Swift's Gulliver among the Houyhnhnms and Yahoos -- intelligent
horses and debased subhumans -- our hero comes to identify with his captors
rather than fellow-inmates. Apes in clothes look natural and "right", while
humans are animals who go naked. Although the most famous line of the movie is
Charlton Heston's "Get your stinking paws off me, you damn dirty ape," Merou and
the female chimpanzee scientist who befriends him come very close, in the book,
to parting with a kiss. At the last instant it's she who pushes him away:
"Oh darling, it's impossible. It's a shame, but I can't, I can't. You are
really too unattractive!"
Sounds like this was written without the author having seen the movie.
Speaking of The Kiss I saw someone wearing the T-Shirt on that show where people
compete to get on Oz-Fest. <.html <.html

Jersey... (The lines are "Why didn't I buy that little bar in Jersey City"... and, while picking the lock in Zaius' study, Galen asked him where he learned to do that, to which Burke replied
"Jersey City, P.S. 103." <.html

It started as a quest to gather the best sources I could find,
reassembling them as best I could.
In the end, I had six sources to choose from. Fortunately, Mike
Rogers had taped the *unedited* cartoons off WPIX. When Sci-Fi
broadcast the 'toons, they edited out about four minutes from each
episode. In the end, Mike's tapes were the best sources I could find
(in about 10 months of searching). WPIX had broadcast all of the
episodes save one without the opening sequence and closing credits.
I restored those to each episode, cleaned up the audio pretty
dramatically, and authored two DVDs to contain all 13 episodes,
complete with menus.
http://www.goatley.com/hunter/dvd/toons/
Terry is spearheading the distribution of these. If you want to buy
blank DVD-Rs, you can send them to Terry along with return postage and
get a copy. If you don't want to buy your own blanks, Terry is
offering them at about cost for blank DVD-Rs and postage. The goal
here is not for Terry to make money off these, but simply to cover his
costs.

MAKE SURE YOU GO TO THE HOMEPAGE AND READ THE NEW PLANET OF THE APES
COMIC BOOK - BEWARE THE BEAST!!!
Go to the homepage, scroll down to around the middle of the page and
click on the link underneath the colourful logo....this will take
you to the internal site where you can go to earlier chapters by
clicking on the menu at top of the images.
We have recently started a new comic strip called WITHIN THE PLANET
OF THE APES which can be found in the files section of the group or
you can just click on the handy link on the Home Page to view the
latest and previous chapters!
Don't forget we also have 3 other groups 'attached' to the main one.
First up there is the DG Archives group:
http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/PotaDiscussionGrouparchives/
This group was created to store old posts from the group which have
been deleted from the main site. we have to do this periodically to
free up space as Yahoo does not allot much space to the groups
anymore.
As this group is so active we tend to fill up very quickly and
instead of losing old posts forever we like to keep a copy of them
all. They can be found in the Files section listed by month and
year .
There is also the DG Fan Fiction group where members can place, in
the group's Files section, their Fan Fiction stories, poems etc. to
be enjoyed by all:
http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/PotaDiscussionGroupfanfiction/
Finally there's the Photos group:
http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/PotaDiscussionGroupphotos/
Where photos are very occasionally moved to save space on the main
DG group
All the sites can be easily accessed via the links on each one's
Home Page.
And don't forget to check out the DG group's vast Photos section and
all that great stuff in the Files section. While you're here why not
participate in a Poll or check out all those wonderful links and
generally have a fun filled family experience!

Jackson County is located at the head of the Lavaca and Carancahua Bays in southern Texas and is the center of the
Gulf Coast side of a Houston-San Antonio-Corpus Christi triangle. Jackson county is 90 miles southwest of Houston.)
He grew up on some farm in Jackson County, then probably moved to Houston as an adult...

I had already forgotten about doing that! Actually, I was able to
take the audio from the closing credits from one of Greg P.'s Sci-Fi
tapes and use it to replace the music-with-voiceover track.
*Fortunately*, Greg's tapes were recorded before Sci-Fi ran voiceovers
over all of their closing credits. In addition to cleaning up the
audio by removing tape hiss (and there was a quite a bit of it, on
both sources---no surprise given the age of the tapes), I had to
synchronize it to the video. Of course, you can't really tell that
it's synched, because there's no dialogue or sound effects, but it is
synched so it plays out exactly (literally down to the hundredth of a
second) as the original track.

yet? The Exclusive Dr. Zaius (in the riding gear) was
waiting for me at my front door today. Nice
packaging...although, Rory, they do have an outline of
Liberty! (Although not the 30th anniversary
graphics....) All the pics on the box are from the
first movie and are all of Mr. Evans. They are in
window boxes much like the Bond figures....with a bit
of velcro keeping it closed. Inside......the figure is
very sharp and well done. He comes with a walking
stick , three scrolls and a scroll holder thingy. And
a stand to hold him up. I want to open it up so bad!
But it obviously just came off the production line and
straight into the packing box....I can almost still
smell the fresh ink! Hopefully these will be available
at stores eventually so I can get a set to open up. I
will try and take some pics and post them......
Can't wait for the rest!

The only hint we have about Lucius after
"Planet" is in the "Beneath" comic book adaptation (Marvel's, I think, though
"Beneath" is the only one to get 2 comic adaptations; er, 3 if you count the

Lucius, as though he became a historian or something. A radical historian. - - -

I've always wondered what happened to Lucius years after the
events of PotA and Beneath. Could his short time in the ruins with Cornelius
and the rest of the gang have inspired him to become a budding young assistant
archeologist? Blowing up that cliffside cave didn't necessarily obliterate the
evidence of an earlier human settlement. It just made it a bit harder to get
to. So perhaps Dr. Gavron was a little more intellectual than Dr. Zauis and
decided he wanted to know the truth. Who better to recruit than Lucius, who
(a) knows where the original ruins were located, and (b) was not afraid of
authority and would certainly help out.
My 2.5
cents.

Well, I've got my Dr. Zaius figure and I have to report that I'm very disappointed with it. In fact, I think it sucks!
The sculpt for the Zaius head is bad. They have these tuffs of hair on his checks that just shouldn't be there. Also, on the one I've received the paint job on the head is bad, and in fact one eye is
messed up and covered with paint for the flesh.
Also, his jacket is too larger and doesn't look right. They got the glyph on the back of his gloves right, but they didn't put the glyph on his boots.
With shipping I paid $52.61 for this and I just don't think it's worth it. I've already started the process of returning it to Sideshow for a refund. The figure is made in China and they need to
see what a bad job they're doing.
Now, I'm not really sure I want the other figures. I might just cancel all my pre-orders and just go with the Lawgiver figure.

How does the Zauis compare with the photos
on their site? I mean the sculpt, not the paint (which varies). I didn't
preorder any of them. I'd rather take my time and see what turns up in
collector's shops. Maybe cheaper. Today I bought the Sideshow "Ghost of
Frankenstein" figure as a Christmas present for only $20. Plus if you buy them
in a store you can check out the paint job. I'd be interested to hear what
others think as they get their figures. $ 40 + shipping is a lot and a bad paint
job can ruin it. I feel your pain. - - - Jeff

Well, I've got my Dr. Zaius figure and I
have to report that I'm very disappointed with it. In fact, I think it
sucks!
The sculpt for the Zaius head is bad. They have these
tuffs of hair on his checks that just shouldn't be there. Also, on the
one I've received the paint job on the head is bad, and in fact one eye is
messed up and covered with paint for the flesh.
Also, his jacket is too
larger and doesn't look right. They got the glyph on the back of his
gloves right, but they didn't put the glyph on his boots.
With shipping
I paid $52.61 for this and I just don't think it's worth it. I've
already started the process of returning it to Sideshow for a refund.
The figure is made in China and they need to see what a bad job they're
doing.
Now, I'm not really sure I want the other figures. I might
just cancel all my pre-orders and just go with the Lawgiver figure.

Well, I was able, with a pin and a magnifying glass, to scrape away the offending drop of paint. Then I was able to add just a pinpoint of white paint to the white of his eye, and the same with a point of black for
his pupil. It looks almost as good as the other eye now. From the proper distance you can't really notice.
I've decided to keep it, but I'm still disappointed with it. To give you an idea of what it looks like...remember that scene in BENEATH when Ursus and Zaius are showing the gorilla the way down the
subterranean passage, and Zaius is obviously Evan's double, pulling on his ill fitting sleeve? That's what this figure reminds me of.
Oh! Selma Hayek is on "Inside the Actor's Studio"! I gotta go.

The only hint we have about Lucius after "Planet" is in the "Beneath"
comic book adaptation (Marvel's, I think, though "Beneath" is the only
one
to get 2 comic adaptations; er, 3 if you count the book and record
thing).
It has the opening of "Planet" being recounted by Lucius, as though he
became a historian or something. A radical historian. - - - Jeff

I've always wondered what happened to Lucius years after the events of
PotA
and Beneath. Could his short time in the ruins with Cornelius and the
rest
of the gang have inspired him to become a budding young assistant
archeologist? Blowing up that cliffside cave didn't necessarily
obliterate
the evidence of an earlier human settlement. It just made it a bit
harder to
get to.
So perhaps Dr. Gavron was a little more intellectual than Dr. Zauis and
decided he wanted to know the truth. Who better to recruit than Lucius,
who
(a) knows where the original ruins were located, and (b) was not afraid
of
authority and would certainly help out.
My 2.5 cents.

.htmlStudio protoype pics usually look better anyhow, but I guess that goes
for most products. There may be a chance that the other Zaius could
have some slight differences paint-application wise. I've heard that
the Hellboy Kronenen Sideshow figures varied on sculpt and paint apps
of the heads.
Secondly, I wish I caught that Salma appearance....

I just printed the comic, and wow!
It's like a time-capsule itself. If it
weren't for the laptops and cell
phones you'd think it fell out of a
wormhole to the 70s. I'm going
to have to copy page 2 on the
back of page 1 so I can read it
like a real comic book.

If you're lucky. The carded Megos are rare because few people
*didn't* open them back then. So many people collect these things
today and never open that I don't think they'll ever be worth big
bucks. (And forget "worth" big bucks: they *cost* big bucks now,
which is why I'm not buying them. I didn't buy any of the Medicoms
until I could find them for $10 or less.)

The value of the lousy Hasbros dropped dramatically when the Medicoms
came out. That's because the Hasbros sucked major lemons. And the
7-inch (or whatever) Hasbro figures were even worse ("Cat People").
I'm sure I'm not the only one who won't buy something unless it
*looks* good. Just 'cause PotA is slapped on it doesn't mean I'll buy
it. At least not until it hits around $1.

Everyone,
Yahoo is now using something called "Web Beacons" to track Yahoo
Group users around the net and see what you're doing and where you
are going similar to cookies. Yahoo is recording every website and
every group you visit.
Take a look at their updated privacy statement:
http://privacy.yahoo.com/privacy
About half-way down the page, in the section on cookies, you will
see a link that says "web beacons". Click on the phrase "web
beacons". That will bring you to a paragraph entitled "Outside the
Yahoo Network." In this section you'll see a little "click here to
opt out" link that will let you "opt-out" of their new method of
snooping.
Once you have clicked that link, you are exempted. Notice
the "Success" message on the top of the next page. Be careful
because once you opt out, on that page there will be a "Cancel Opt-

Feel free to forward this to other groups.

Part of me is glad of that - as much as I would have liked these figures I
have avoided them because they're just too damn expensive for something that

improved the sound quality and I think (although this might just be a result
of the DVD conversion) improved the color stability.
What you get when you get these DVD's will be like a very good old fashioned
film chain broadcast. It will have the look of a syndicated rerun of older
shows the way they did them on local stations in the 70's and 80's. That's
because the source came from film chain 80's broadcasts but it's nice to see
it preserved and slightly enhanced for the DVD's.

For once I think I was too hasty with the "sucks" judgment. I was just pissed off because one of the eyes was messed up.
While I still think it could have done better -- especially for the cost -- it's not a disaster. It's a hell of a lot better than the Hasbro one.
What I need to decide is do I really want it. Perhaps I'll like the one in the other outfit better.

Excellent. "The Sixth Finger" is one of the better episodes. Why don't you watch it tonight and give me your opinion.
I'll be waiting.

PLANET OF THE APES - NEWTON COMICS (AUSTRALIA)
(1975)
I'm still seeking out some copies for my own
collection
The later issues are much scarcer.
I now have #1-12 / 15 / 17 / Special (no
#)
I still need #13 / 14 / 16 / #1 (1980
reprint)
For those also collecting I have for
sale/trade:
Issues # 2 3 4 5 6 8
Note that posters came bound in the center of most
issues
I have verified that #1-12 and #17 have posters /
its possible that 13/14/16 have posters also
#15 does not as Special no # also does
not <.html <.html

You ought to pat Mr. Goatley on the back. He took my tape soucre and improved the sound quality and I think (although this might just be a result of the DVD conversion) improved the color stability.

bound in as well I think I have at least two issues that still have
them along with the posters.
The comics are hard enough to find without the posters and cards
even down here in Australia!

-- Will do, could be a little while though as I have to get
into 'the vault' and unseal them. ;-)
When I have I will upload them to the files section and let you know.

Whitty and Foster...
I am glad to see your strip is finally coming into it's own... The first couple chapters (where they were doing the digging) I wasn't too impressed with where I thought the story was going to go... (And I was
thinking it was gonna go the way of "cheap jokes" when they found the Monkees LP...) But, once it got to Ape City, that's when it started picking up steam... Neil's art work vastly improved, and
Whitty, your story is getting better as it goes along... After a "shaky start", it's getting to be APES...Keep up the good work, and don't go the way of ADVENTURE comics!!!<.html<.html

To anyone that is waiting to get their DVDs, when you get them, you will be pleased. They're the best we're probably ever going to see until/unless FOX sees fit to
do an "official release" on these... And, in my opinion, the improved audio has to be the biggest plus...<.html<.html <.html
