Graham, Thanks for your compliments. I just made myself a male chimp fleece green sweater that I will proudly wear in public. I made it for myself just for lounging inside the house, but it looks
pretty radical and it's so soft and comfortable. Just the perfect top for chasing the chill away! I didn't think I was going to be brave enough to wear it in public, but it's come together so
well that I am not embarassed by it. In fact, I'm going to get some more fleece and make a couple more for myself. The only thing on the sweater that screams POTA is just the fleather brown patches on
the sleeves.
Jessica.

I have finally taken a portrait of the good Dr. Zaius this
afternoon. The setting sun definitely cast a beautiful glow on the dupioni silk. There's more photos of him on my blogsite--I just didn't want to take up space here. But here is a link to one of his
portraits that I have uploaded to the photo albums here:

Wow! What a cool idea! I'm going to have to look into
that...
I was thinking that as soon as I had all of the costumes made, I would
pose them just like in the movie and then take photos.

You essentially pose each frame and take a

I think these days it would be more about
SODTWARE.
I believe if you used a standard Digital
Camera to capture the shots (on a tripod so you get the right distance and
angle each time) you could then show it like a very long slideshow timed
properly.
Then when you get that right you’d dub in
the sound.
Hunter – you know a lot of software…is
this something that’s out there?

2. Chimpanzees
Make Spears for Hunting
Two
anthropologists watched in mixed amazement and horror as several female
chimpanzees crafted
spears and used them to somewhat brutally hunt smaller mammals. Following a
troop of the primates in a Senegalese savanna, Jill Pruetz of
Iowa State
University and Paco Bertolani of
Cambridge observed them breaking the branches
off of trees, picking leaves from the sides, and sharpening the tips to deadly
points. In the March edition of Current Biology, the
scientists explained that such sophisticated animal behavior could reveal a
great deal about how early humans used primitive tools.

20th Century Fox, once the home where sci-fi
classics were forged, had a setback at the box office this weekend. Their sequel
to "Alien vs. Predator" sank to the bottom of the heap behind such classics as
the Will Smithified - Heston remake "I Am Legend" and "Alvin and the Chipmunks".
AvP2 made $10 million over the weekend and $26.8 million so far since opening
Christmas Day ($10 million less than the first one's opening). This seemed like
an odd choice for a sequel since people weren't thrilled by the original
(though James Cameron liked it). AvP2 was even beat by Fox's own fragile indie
comedy "Juno", which has been getting raves (Fox may suck at big pictures but it
kicks some when it comes to their small films).
Meanwhile, Tim Burton's "Sweeney Todd"
continues to flounder; it did, well, worse than AvP2. But it's getting him the
best reviews of his career and a possible first Oscar nomination. And you guys
said he couldn't direct! Jeff

And I still think he's a lousy director. He's primarily a visualist
and wouldn't know a good script if it fell on him. But I do agree
"POTA the Unmentionable" wasn't entirely his fault. I don't like any
of his movies. They do nothing for me.

Really? I’ll have to look that up.
I saw it on free TV on SBS last night.
It reminded me of the discussions we had
re what is Science Fiction.
I really enjoyed watching it and seeing
what Cameron, Spielberg, Lucas, Ridley Scott et al had to say.

So….did you like this film?
I thought is was good.
I liked “The Omega Man” but I really
far preferred to watch “I am Legend”.
When I heard Will Smith was in it I
thought it was doomed, but it cam off well. Batman Begins was a better remake
(or re-attempt) but this was close.
I liked how they wrote it to be more
relevant to 2007.
Can’t recall what wiped out humanity
in “the Omega Man” – was it “the bomb”?

"From January 7th until the 26th, "PLANET OF THE APES" exhibition by Dennis Stock. Born in 1928, Dennis Stock joined Magnum in 1951 after receiving magazine LIFE's young photography award. He became
famous thanks to his memorable James Dean pictures as well as his jazz musicians ones, taken between 1957 and 1960. This serie of photographs taken in 1967 on the filming of "Planet of the Apes" is very
peculiar because confronting costumes of the movie and every day life in Los Angeles.
For the 60th anniversary of Magnum Photos & for the movie's 40th, a 12 silver film prints portofolio will be edited and available at colette during the exhibition. Only 12 portfolios available. " -
Colette.
Planet of the Apes, alongside numerous other pop culture phenomenoms has been an ongoing inspiration in streetwear since its beginning, this show looks deep into the original era and what made the film such a big
hit, aswell as of course showcasing the amazing work of Dennis stock.

When Twentieth Century-Fox approached Life magazine lensman Dennis Stock to photograph the filming of "Planet of the Apes" in 1967, he accepted the assignment on one condition: that he be allowed to usher
its elaborately made-up cast (a staggering 80 makeup artists worked on the production) off-set and onto the street to shoot the actors in conventional California settings. "Such situations were more of interest to
me than the movie set and offered greater opportunities for the surreal," the 80-year-old photographer told us. Stock's images of the cult sci-fi film's actors will be on display at Colette in Paris from
January 7-26, as part of the 60th anniversary celebrations of Magnum Photos. Bonus film-buff trivia: Ingrid Bergman said that one of the greatest regrets of her career was turning down the role of Zira.

He seemed to set a trend though – a lot of
the POTA photos show the actors smoking a pipe or reading a newspaper – giving us

These photos are for sale, if anybody's interested. It's probably too rich for my coffers. If I have to ask, then I definitely can't afford.
Supertouch ally COLETTE quietly debuted one of the most interesting shows of the new year when SARAH LERFEL opened the doors to the legendary Parisian style house's
PLANET OF THE APES
retrospective photo exhibit this week. Taken by renowned Magnum photographer DENNIS STOCK
in 1967 during the movie's production, the lensman captured the film's actors in casual moments on set and on the surrounding streets of Hollywood in all its late sixties glory. To commemorate the
exhibit (as well as the movie's 40th anniversary and Magnum's 60th), Colette has created a beautiful 12 print portfolio of images from the show, available in a strictly limited edition of 12 sets. Faithful
collectors had best act fast before Nigo buys them all.

My left arms "frozen" at the moment (I say moment but it's been about 10 weeks !!) so I can't lift it any further than chest height.

Still have some tweaking but he's coming along. Hope to complete by this weekend and take portraits. Everything pictured that is not plastic (Mego ape and horse) was made by me.
Still to make: rifle holster, bridle, gun. I have to smooth out the hat and then paint it along with the hieroglyphs.

I probably should...but I originally come from a northern, working class bit of England where we sort of don't do doctors... we're a hardy bunch !!! (Ask Neil he used live not
many miles away from where I was brought up
)
I'm 43 in a few weeks time and the last time I visited the docs was when I was 16 ...
I'm quite proud of that !! but most of my friends seem to think this is a bit odd ...oh well...
Best,Graham.
