Mike, I reckon you would be perfect for the job and I'd like to nominate you.
You've always struck me as a level headed person who has a great grasp on what
Apes is all about. I for one would feel safe with the group in your hands, would
you be willing to take it over mate?

on youtube.com
I found this on Youtube.com. It's Paula and Bill but what was this
project? Anyone know what this film was about and if the dialogue track
exists? It looks very well done and it looks like a small snippet of a
larger film?
Be interested to find out if the rest of the members knew about this,
as it is new to me!

great. I bought my first mego off the shelf the day they were
released i think it was 1974 i was just 12. I got zira and wanted a
Nova but i never found a nova.
Planet of the apes is a very male controlled world.
I love escape the best because the story is the best of the lot.
Does anyone else here have this as favorite or is there one movie
everyone likes best?

Thank you, Mandy. I am going to try to recreate Nova myself and make her Mego scale. That's one of my future goals. I am still kicking ideas in my head about that one. I keep getting
outbid for the Nova Medicom Ultra Detail figures. I was going to try a "face transplant," after I do some alterations to make the Medicom Figure more 1:9 scale. I keep myself very busy working on
my hobby and work on it as I find time to spare. Working on my projects helps me to "relive" the movie somehow, and it gives me an excuse to see the movie again. I keep telling my family I'm
studying the costumes...right. I'm glad my family can put up with me.
My favorite movie is a toss-up between the original 1968 Planet and the Escape one. I can watch them endlessly it seems.
Yes, the Planet of the Apes is rather male-dominated, isn't it?
Jessica.

Planet of the apes is a very male controlled world.
I love escape the best because the story is the best of the lot. Does anyone else here have this as favorite or is there one movie
everyone likes best?

Hi Mandy, good to see new people here.
The first Mego I picked up was Cornelius but later when I was allowed another I insisted on Zira ... for some reason this seemed to worry my mother

Hope you enjoy the group.
Best,Graham.

Hi Jessica, I was looking on your blog the other day and saw the paper model of the Icarus.
Did you build this from scratch?
Is it in scale with your Mego Taylor?

Graham, a friend of mine e-mailed me the file. It's printed on 8.5 x 11 although I think it's supposed to be A4 paper. I printed it on the laserprinter. It is beautiful but I'm not sure
why some of the pieces were not connecting and I got frustrated. It's gone to the recycling bin I am afraid.

That's because MEGO never made a Nova figure. They just licensed the core characters from PLANET so they didn't need to spend anymore than they had to. MEGO was a great company, but they were frugal.

PLANET is the best by far!
Question though, what part of the story makes it the best of the lot? The fact that they went "back" in time rather than to the future? Was it because of the baby? I'm asking
because in many ways, ESCAPE is just PLANET introverted.

Good luck with that. The only way that you could make the MEDICOM more of the scale of the MEGOs would be to have someone from the MEGO MUSEUM enlarge the head for you and even then, you'd have to put hair on her,
etc. because it'd be very doubtful that they'd be able to get the hair in on the mold and it wouldn't look good/right anyway.
Plus, I have the MEDICOM figure of her, and in my opinion, it really doesn't capture the look of Linda Harrison anyway. She looks pretty "generic" compared to many of the other MEDICOMs, which are
excellent. I think you'd be better off finding a 6-8" MEGOesque figure and just customizing that for a NOVA. Dr. Mego has a nice dark haired BREYER figure which would work well for that...

*** Take the moderator job... I'm guessing you have the computer know how or at least the equipment needed to upload files, etc.
That and the fact that you want an "adult" version of APES gets you my vote. You can write the screenplay between censoring posts... ***

I totally agree Mandy, with only the issue of the cats (remember all dogs
& cats were wiped out in the POTA-verse), I see no reason why the dome city
could have existed in the remains of DC - just a couple of days ride south of
Ape City.

Good film with a weak ending? Or just Classic Cohen?
You decide! Saw a Triple Feature of the first 3 films for

I've seen this SFTPOTA before. Where does it go?

There are so many inconsistencies in the whole series that I would
not be at all suprised to see the cats explained somehow buyt yes it
would take explaining.

.html Wow. I go away for a week and the DG goes bananas. I hate to see anyone
leave for any reason, but if it's Micheal wish to leave then so be it. I
do hope that cooler heads prevail and he comes back. There's been a lot
of chest thumping between the various POTA groups over the years, but
this one seems to have come out of the blue as I had not seen any
attacks here in the DG itself.
But onto the present and our new human masters TZero and Graham. I'm
sure that they'll handle the duties well. In a way, I'm glad that Neil
can take a well deserved rest while where at it. But I do hope he tags
along with us and does not drop out as well.

As someone else pointed out, it's at the end of the "Starcon '96"

I think it's just you.
Just because the content of your project was criticized, do you take that now that "every" APES project is too?
If so, I sure don't see it. Most people seem to welcome just about any APES project, be it "fan based" or from a company... What are you basing this assumption on?
If it's because I said I was never too fond of the content of AC, you mean I can't have an opinion? I didn't just critique AC "blindly," I have issues from the past and I was not at all
impressed with the content.
I don't criticize everything you know. In fact, I do/did whatever I can/could in helping with the RARITIES DVDs. I would have even distributed them if I had a burner. I and another member of a different board are
also still trying to compile the radio spots, etc., so I'm doing something that is purely to get it compiled and organized for distribution. I and the others involved in these projects aren't making a cent off
of them. Nobody who has volunteered to help distribute the RARITIES DVDs is selling the contents on eBay while keeping those who paid for shipping and a blank DVD waiting like I heard happened with the cartoon project.
It would be nice to get more support and input from other POTA fans and not just complaints.
I will support any project that I see as actually worth supporting. I back SIMIAN SCROLLS all the way and I still support BEWARE THE BEAST (though that project is long over with). I also hold Mr. Foster's artwork
in high regard, so I support whatever he might have coming down the pike, though any new projects like that seem to be at a standstill for now. Hopefully he can find a new collaborator.
I alos look forward to seeing what, if any, changes TZer0 and Graham have in store for the DG.
