I’m right with you Jess and I hope you are right, but I think if they REALLY intend to MAKE MORE (not just to be kind and entertain our notion!), they would not have started with GORILLAS, and THREE of them for that matter!

But I remain hopeful….

Holy crap, Michael, this is exciting for me.  I have sent out a bugle call to the ape kingdom to see what the apes want next.  Their deadline for responding is July 17.  I for one would love a Dr. Zaius wearing his riding suit with all the delicious hieroglyphs.  Of course, you can't have Planet of the Apes without Zira and Cornelius.  Whatever list we give to Hot Toys, it's got to be the list that will make their apes sell.  I'm looking at it from a marketing perspective, not a wishlist of what toys I want made.

The whole 1:6 community is already saying Hot Toys will make no more apes because it's dead in the water.  I for one would love to make the doubters eat dirt.  So, this has become a personal issue with me.

This is the time for the fans to unite.  Fight like apes!!! It's time to take over the world...the 1:6 world.  XD !!!

It would be awesome when Hot Toys start their next batch of apes (hopefully chimps or orangutans), if they asked us fans for their opinion before sending out photos of their prototypes.

Jess,

Frankly I think it’s academic but hey – Sideshow did Ursus and a soldier ape so that argument about not doing what Sideshow did ain’t right.

They would do what would sell – they know gorillas sell!

Michael, someone has brought up the question of whether or not Hot Toys is going to revisit the figures that Sideshow has already churned out.  Is Hot Toys going to create figures that have not been made before, or is their purpose to create and blow out of the water the previous Sideshow incarnations?

Julius is definitely a figure that has not been made before.  However, he's a gorilla.  If Hot Toys makes him, then he will be their fourth gorilla.

Michael, I just want them to crank out some more apes.. Do you know if Hot Toys is happy with the sales of their current gorillas? I really want to see Zira Zaius and Cornelius. And from the TV show, Galen, since they already made the TV gorilla. I'm still compiling the list...but whatever you tell Hot Toys needs to be what is marketable.
There is a big market for the TV show outside of the US, no?

Michael, someone has brought up the question of whether or not Hot Toys is going to revisit the figures that Sideshow has already churned out. Is Hot Toys going to create figures that have not been made before, or is their purpose to create and blow out of the water the previous Sideshow incarnations?

Julius is definitely a figure that has not been made before. However, he's a gorilla. If Hot Toys makes him, then he will be their fourth gorilla.

Only Hot Toys can make the figures that we (especially me) long to have, and I am asking you to write to their customer service to let them know that you are waiting for more of their wonderful apes!! I will just be the happiest of all chimpanzees if Hot Toys will announce the coming of more apes. If they can create a Dr. Zaius with his full Forbidden Zone outfit bearing all the delicious hieroglyphs, well, that will just be so fantastic. They may as well, since their spectacular General Ursus needs him to ride into the Forbidden Zone. But in any case, if Hot Toys can make such spectacular gorillas, what is to stop them from bringing on their chimpanzees and orangutans?

And we should throw in Leather Conquest Caesar to make 3 different ape breeds that would sell but have never been done before!

Nice 3!

Any strong arguments for or against?

I think the 3 tribunal orangs with furniture would be great.

Then you would need Taylor, so a Taylor, Lisa and Virgil.

If you did Milo I'd suggest doing it in a pack with all 3 astro apes with interchangable clothing as well as groovy clothes!

So Mike we should slim the list down so as not to overwhelm them. What do you guys think will sell?
What's the latest list sound like? Everything sounds great to me.

That would really upset me. In fact, it will bring tears to my eyes. Hearing that you made contact is so freaking great. It's a foot in the door. It's better than what I have done. Please put all egos and personal issues aside. This is a chance to take the 1:6 world and bring it to its knees. Ape fans, unite and get new apes made by Hot Toys.

You think maybe he has a problem with his private posts showing him up for the POTA stalker he is Neil?  J

Oh well, we better not ever post his private stuff in the public arena or we’d be “pulling a Terry” right?

You are wrong on all counts as usual and seem to be quite deluded. You may need to seek treatment.

Please don't bother replying as your emails will be deleted unread, moron.

Thank You.

No nothing like it Chris, this was about a private email reply being used as an article and called a 'minor snafu', (which it wasn't, it was actually a huge mistake which Terry is now very embarrassed about!)

Yet somehow, the world is still rotating on it's axis. I also have a feeling that Terry will pull through this "huge mistake" just fine.

And why email me with stuff about Whitty? Have the balls to contact him privately if you have a problem with something he posted in the past. Better still have the balls to post this on the POTA group instead of trying to involve me in your stupid childish little grudges.

Mainly because my e-mail was a response to a post that you wrote (see below). But being realistic, the e-mail I sent you was undoubtedly forwarded to Whitty about 10 seconds after you read it.

Also, you two have the market cornered on posting things in a group that should be private. NO ONE could ever hope to compete in that little arena...but I will get Whitty because I have invented a story that he confessed he never really thought he had a tumor. Whitty is toast.

Is that anything like when Whitty once "accidentally" posted a supposed private message to you in the DG where he was going on about Dave Ballard. Had something to do with 'Beware the Beast' as I recall? Would that be a minor or major snafu? Or that phantom brain tumor making a guest appearance?

But if you do I think a lot of people may have to think twice about
anything they say in a private email to you from now on. <<

It’s not that you are uncouth – it’s that you don’t allow some people’s posts for certain reasons but you do allow others’ when you shouldn’t if you were unbiased or fair.

So really it’s that you are biased and unfair.

The only reason you moderate people is so that you are never criticized.

This week (July 14, 15, and 16), we'll be performing maintenance on the remaining 75% of Yahoo! Groups that were not affected by last Wednesday's outage.

This maintenance will take place over a three-day period (July 14, 15, and 16), as we'll be working on 25% of Yahoo! Groups at a time. This means you may be able to access some of your groups, but not all, during the outages. For the affected groups, mail will be delayed, but will return to normal once the outage is complete.

All of the outages will take place at 3pm PT (10pm UTC/GMT-to determine what time the outage will take place in your neighborhood, please visit this link: http://www.timeandd ate.com/worldclo ck/converter..html") on the 14th, 15th, and 16th.

While we know that outages sometimes seem to come at exactly the wrong time, we again hope to have these next three done within 2 hours.

Once the maintenance has been completed, we'll update the blog (http://www.ygroupsb log.com).

        Thanks for your patience!

Don’t know what booth they are at, but it is BLAM VENTURES.

It’s not a comic; it’s a novel with pictures (apparently from some tried and true POTA artists if Jusko is anything to go by).

The NOVEL is entitled “Conspiracy on the Planet of the Apes”.  It's story set during the first movie and centers on the Astronaut Landon and Chimpanzee scientist Dr. Milo. The novel is written by Andrew Gaska and his two creative partners, contains over 20 full color "paintings" (digital and traditional) from various top talent in the industry and will be in all the bookstores in the Spring of 2010.

DonÂ’t know what booth they are at, but it is BLAM VENTURES.

ItÂ’s not a comic; itÂ’s a novel with pictures (apparently from some tried and true POTA artists if Jusko is anything to go by).

Do we know what booth they're at?  Or, what the comic is called or the publisher?  I tried to find it, but can't.

I don't like the painting at all.

First off, the inconsistent shading on the astronauts makes the
painting look like it was pieced together in Photoshop.

Second, the perspective on the backpack is wonky. It appears to be
about a handspan wide at the bottom.

Third, the balls on the bead chains are all drawn as though they're
lying on a flat plane. Some are smaller than others, but they don't
          overlap as they should.

Lastly, the information on the dogtags is wrong. Dogtags are issued
soon after a person enlists in the military and are worn for life.
They contain the bearer's name, ID number, blood group, and religion.
In the past, some have included the name and address of the bearer's
next of kin, and the bearer's branch of service, but that's rarely
seen anymore. Their purpose is to provide basic identification in
case the bearer is incapacitated. They're not a freaking résumé. They
aren't updated for each mission, or when the bearer is transferred to
a different ship. Dogtags don't identify the bearer as a soldier,
          sailor, pilot, or astronaut.

I think your being a little harsh about the picture if you can do better then get on with it.
Your wrong about the dogtags i still have mine from the Falklands War , they have your rank which is a give away about which service your in.
What they have on them is name, seriel number, rank, date of birth and blood group and thats it.
But the purpose of the painting is for the good of pota fans and its not trying to be politically correct.
One more point i did not paint it or have anything to do with it , but well done artist , lets have a limited editon signed please for my kind words and keep doing more of it.
          Mark :)

I don't like the painting at all.

First off, the inconsistent shading on the astronauts makes the painting look like it was pieced together in Photoshop.

Second, the perspective on the backpack is wonky. It appears to be about a handspan wide at the bottom.

Third, the balls on the bead chains are all drawn as though they're lying on a flat plane. Some are smaller than others, but they don't overlap as they should.

Lastly, the information on the dogtags is wrong. Dogtags are issued soon after a person enlists in the military and are worn for life.
They contain the bearer's name, ID number, blood group, and religion. In the past, some have included the name and address of the bearer's next of kin, and the bearer's branch of service, but that's rarely seen anymore. Their purpose is to provide basic identification in case the bearer is incapacitated. They're not a freaking résumé. They aren't updated for each mission, or when the bearer is transferred to a different ship. Dogtags don't identify the bearer as a soldier, sailor, pilot, or astronaut.

Not me, I would rather have something like this done by a cover painting legend. Besides I can't paint that well anyway, it's never been my strong point.

The problem with most Planet of the Apes fans is that they aren't
harsh enough, and that increases the chance that the next thing we
get will be even worse. It wouldn't have hurt Jusko to have done some
          research before starting his painting.

Did you notice the American flags on the astronauts' uniforms? ANSA
is an American organisation. What your country puts on its dogtags is
          irrelevant to this discussion.

Besides the factual errors, I also dislike the subject of Jusko's
painting. The emotional response from Dodge and Landon is
inappropriate to the situation. How far can Taylor throw tags? Fifty
feet? Sixty? Surely no farther than that, and someone obviously did
retrieve them, because Taylor had his dogtags to give to Nova at the
          beginning of Beneath.

          Hello everyone.

Some of you have made my acquaintance, and others will soon enough - I plan to have substantial presence on this and the other POTA boards, but I am currently waiting for a few kind words from FOX so that I can release our interweb address and give all of you a more in depth disclosure about the Conspiracy.

As I read your comments, I am thankful that most of you are excited by Mr. Jusko's faux pas of releasing his image a trifle too soon. I notice that there are a few dissenting voices and that's cool too, its our differences of opinion that can give rise to debate and exciting new possibilites.

I thought I might drop a word here about the dog tags, however - a lot of research has gone into this novel, and the information on the tags, up until the words 'astronaut' , 'ANSA' and 'Liberty One', is correct for the 1960s-1970s. The extra info on the tag has a reason for being there, and is actually clearly stated, in the upcoming book. Look for it this Spring in bookstores everywhere (shameless plug).

I know none of you know me, but you will, I -like you- am a life time fan of the apes, and I promise you a thrilling ride that takes a look at certain things we have taken for granted about the Planet of the Apes and fills in a bunch of blanks along the way, as well as sheds new light on old favorites.

I look forward to talking to all of you.

Cool - thanks for popping up Drew!

I can guarantee people in this group will tell you what they think and I am SO excited having a fan in charge of this.

I didn't particularly like JJ's FZ painting COZ I WANT APES! But as Neil tells me it's beautifully done and yes I'd love a framed print with a set of dog tags creatively decorating it so WHO IS GOING TO GET ME ONE FROM COMIC CON?!?!?

Some of you have made my acquaintance, and others will soon enough - I plan to have substantial presence on this and the other POTA boards, but I am currently waiting for a few kind words from FOX so that I can release our interweb address and give all of you a more in depth disclosure about the Conspiracy.

I agree with Jess 100%, Drew. The painting is pure gold, and the dogtag design you've used here works great. I can't wait to see more.

Well it sure shows Drew's pedigree getting JJ to do it - he did a fair few of the MARVEL covers in the day!

Welcome to the group. One thing about the painting, Joe Jusko states that "Incidentally, Taylor doesn't look like Charlton Heston because the publisher unfortunately doesn't have likeness approval for him". Now I know Marvel had a similar thing which is why they never had a comic strip with Taylor looking like Heston so I was just wondering why you don't have approval to use his likeness? Is it a price thing or because of Heston's family?

Yes there are Captains in all services but its not often that they get killed .
Normally its the grunts that need the dogtags
          Lance Corperal,Private,Sargent are all Army
Able Seaman,Leading Hand, Petty Officer are Navy
And so on for the Air Force , This is how to tell, also what equipment they carry is a give away .
We had the same thing in the Falklands when we took prisoners some tried to hide what they where by removing there dog tags.
It puts me in mind of Monty Python and the Holy Grial , when they see the Knight??? on horse back and say he must be king because he has no shit on him, same apply's to officers when they where taken prisoner they tried to blend in with the ranks but not very well.

Have to just say, without any relevence at all but I know there's one or two fans, that I thought the mini-series of Torchwood broadcast last week was the best thing they've done so far. They forewent CGI and gimmicky monster costumes for drawn out tension and drama. Its the way sci-fi drama used to be made (reminded me of 'Quatermass' or 'Twilight Zone') and it works for me.

Haven't seen it yet Neil but if, like you say it reminds you of Quatermass then it must be okay. That was one brilliant piece of sci-fi telivision.

I must agree it was well made, monday to friday one hour each night.
So five episodes but captain jack was killed six times????
However the manner of his death's where well done.
I dont normally watch it ( Being a spin off of Dr Who ) but even the wife who doesn't watch anything other than eastenders and desperate housewifes and ugly betty.
So if she watched it it just goes to show???
Also while watching this on the wednesday my youngest son had sports day and when it finished i had to walk through a playground full of younger kids , it was quite scarry while thinking about torchwood.
I was half expecting them to start speaking ( They are coming ,or We are here ).
The last time that happened was years ago when i was a kid after watching Dr Who ( the one where the mannaquins come to life )i was walking along the main street with all the shops and having to keep having a second look at all the dummy's in the shop windows and slowly picking the pace up so has to get down the street quicker--- In PotaDG@yahoogroups.com , "nlmoxham" <neilmoxham@...> wrote:

          First, the good news!
Someone has spotted the Sideshow's premium format statue at a comic book store (in NY I believe). Their first impression was, "wow. Purchasers who bought this will not be disappointed. The suit is "Taylor"ed quite well and hangs well."
          Now the bad news!
The back of the jacket has that vent, Sideshow never fixed it. (Boo for you Sideshow!!!) (Yay for me because that would have bugged the hell out of me).
No word yet on the Sideshow PF Exclusive Zaius. There's a hold up in production, he seems to be MIA.

It's been mentioned lots of times that not enough people go to these events dressed up.
Well those of you that are going dressed up, have you thought about taking pictures of the process of getting into the mask .
Where it all came from , price of equipment i.e appliance , wig , make-up .
I have never dressed up because us (idiots) dont understand the process.
This is something that i think most of our discussion group would find interesting ( or maybe i'm alone on that one)
Thoughts on it would be interesting
Jess and Jeff are going i think so maybe one of you could oblige on this request.
Also does anyone have the dates for the next comic-com at excel london or N.E.C Birmingham????
          Mark :)
