As far as who nuked who, once a few birds are launched/detonated, it is
gonna be "auto-launch activated" by every one and his dog! The apes were
lucky there was anything left of earth for them.
Secondly, I'd like to say, WE ALL LOVE POTA, but, sometimes we dig
different aspects of it. We're not clones! If you don't like a certain
topic people are discussing, just hang back and wait for one you do want
to discuss, or even start a topic yourself. But PLEASE, don't DISRESPECT
other members for getting into some APE trivia, or collectibles, or what
ever. We're having fun... If APE fans can't indulge in "silly, trivial,
nonsense" about POTA without being criticized HERE, where can we

So, am I the only guy out there who makes his wife/girlfriend dress up

I vote that we cut the frigging drama. And learn some manners.
I belong to other mailing lists where we offer things for sale or trade - we
do it one day per week. I would have no problem with some kind of rule about
that here. As POTA fans, some of us might have something to offer one
another besides insults. What do you all think?
I know one thing - if the childish shit keeps up, I'm bailing soon. I know
you have to let the baby cry before it'll take its nap, but come on already.

that it disrupts the disscussion. Maybe instead of talking about that sort of
stuff on the list somebody could make a webpage that has items for sale or

screwed up. Because the fallout from the nukes would have mutate and possibly
kill of plant and animal life. Also there is the potential that chemical
weapons were used in the war and thought would really screw up things.
I'm kind of curious as to what happened to the other continents. Are there
any human governments out there still functioning? Did the other countries
get as screwed up as the US did? Any thoughts.

Terry has a virtual toy store/museum on his site and it's very informative.
The Apemania site will have a collectible film artifacts and reproduction page

mutants humans. I feel that there may or may not have been that many 3rd world
survivors but rather that the survivors would all be decendents from well-off
countries that were economically advanced enough to prepair for survival of the
big WW3:War to End All Wars.
Eventually the genration that witnessed and survived the big war would still
have to become exposed to the nuclear and/or chemical weapons fallout, in turn
passing on their messed up genes to succeeding generations, who would then also
be born into the world still contaminated with fallout screwing up their genes
even more.
Of course, we all know that horses are immune to fallout, so they would still
exist and evolve to be tamed, saddled and used to pull ape carts and hunt mute
humans.

because he wouldn't want to "wear a monkey suit". Is it clear to anyone but
me that if a remake happens, they'll most likely use name actors' VOICES,
but the folks sweating in the suits would be nobodies? Maybe even real apes
with photorealistic animation of their mouths . . .
2. In Escape, Cornelius says an ape named Aldo was the leader of the
revolution. Two possible explanations:
A- Aldo WAS the leader of the ape revolt in their timeline, until they went
back in time and screwed everything up by giving birth to Caesar;
B- Some sort of overthrow happens between the time that Huston is preaching
to the kiddies (2670 AD), and Cornelius' time (3955), where gorillas come
into power, and Cornelius is unknowingly reciting some sort of revisionist
history.
Trivia-- you know the "Lawgiver talking to the ape and human children"
wraparound bit from BATTLE? It was from the original draft of BENEATH.
Taylor and Brent don't get killed, don't set off the bomb, and instead
resolve to rebuild the human race. Fade out to wraparound segment, with the
lawgiver ape talking to the human and ape kids, preaching harmony and
peace. Cut to the ruins of New York, where a group of mutant APES crawl
from Beneath the rubble. One of them sees a dove flying through the air,
whips out a rifle and shoots it dead. The end.

.htmlGood topics, Phil!
1. I don't know if they'd use proxy actors to take the place of the real
actors. It seems like most actors/actresses don't mind doing the
makeup, even though it's VERY time consuming. A good example would be
when Eddie Murphy did the Nutty Professor. Sure, he was in that makeup
chair for hours, but he knew he had to be in the film. I don't think it
would have been as good if Eddie didn't appear on-screen. Regarding
POTA, it would be less effective to have the nobodies gesturing and
moving around and to later dubb the actors' voices in. But, I guess
they do that in CGI movies and cartoons all the time. Hmmm...I guess
you could make a case for both sides on that one...
2. I've often wondered about that Aldo reference. I just figured that
it was a lack of consistency on the writer's part. Aldo was in the
novelization of Conquest. Like you said, perhaps it was Aldo who
initiated the revolt (the first time around). It could also explain the
rivalry between the two apes in Battle (a pivotal point deciding the
fate of the future). The paradoxes here could be interesting. If
Caesar created a better future, would Cornelius and Zira return to the
past again at all? Okay, now I'm cross-eyed.
I think I like the original draft of Beneath better. Charleton Heston
really screwed up Beneath.
Let's hope they don't goof up the new movie...

Here's my theory of the Aldo thing.
Aldo had quite a following with the Gorillas. You see this in Battle.
However, the Planet of the Apes comic book proves that thought the following
may not be public, it was very much still there. Ollo, who is the general in
the comic series remarks at one point that Aldo is "The mightiest ape of all"
I think that since the Gorillas controlled the military, they were able to
push the other apes around a bit, and though tampering, may have erased
Caesar entirely from history. Glorifying Aldo, who was their hero. I think
that the Orangutans, some time after the end of the Human-Apes teaching end
of Battle were lured into a sort of alliance with the Gorillas, setting the
stage for the TV series, and first two movies. The orangutans then changed
the lawgiver into an orangutan, and not Caesar, a chimp. This explains why
the chimps are generally crapped on in the series and first two movies. I
think that the society in POTA is a very prejudice one. Which is why a person
like Taylor is so harshly ridiculed, because society in POTA has so many
rules to keep it exactly the same, that a talking human totally throws things
off, and therefore he must be eliminated...
Any questions on this? Or would anyone like to hear my ideas on what each
type of ape is limited to doing in their society? <.html

Here's my opinion on them:
1. Heston said in an interview that he wouldn't play Zaius, as rumored,
because he wouldn't want to "wear a monkey suit". Is it clear to anyone but
me that if a remake happens, they'll most likely use name actors' VOICES,
but the folks sweating in the suits would be nobodies? Maybe even real apes
with photorealistic animation of their mouths . . .
I think the voice is really the most important thing. It even talked a
little about that in "Behind The Planet of The Apes." The inflection and
pitch of actors like Maurice Evans adds a lot to the picture. Therefore, I
think a photorealistic animation, or something like that, would be great,
with good actors doing the voices, actors that the audience will recognize.
I mean, as good as the old ape make-up, I think the next step that would be
necessary for Fox to take would be some type of computer animation, because
I don't think the ape makeup could be improved upon in a way that wouldn't
be laughed at.
2. In Escape, Cornelius says an ape named Aldo was the leader of the
revolution. Two possible explanations:
A- Aldo WAS the leader of the ape revolt in their timeline, until they went
back in time and screwed everything up by giving birth to Caesar;
B- Some sort of overthrow happens between the time that Huston is preaching
to the kiddies (2670 AD), and Cornelius' time (3955), where gorillas come
into power, and Cornelius is unknowingly reciting some sort of revisionist
history.
I think you got to go with that theory of Infinite Regression which they
talk about during the movie series, especially in the third and the fifth.
On the one "path/lane/timeline" that the series begins with, Aldo very
easily could have been the leader in the revolution. But, by all the time
traveling that goes on, and Cornelius and Zira going back, they would switch
lanes, creating a new "path/lane/timeline," where Ceaser instead leads the
revolution, which at the same time alters the future. After all, both Dr.
Milo and Virgil said there is a an infinite number of lanes....
Trivia-- you know the "Lawgiver talking to the ape and human children"
wraparound bit from BATTLE? It was from the original draft of BENEATH.
Taylor and Brent don't get killed, don't set off the bomb, and instead
resolve to rebuild the human race. Fade out to wraparound segment, with the

peace. Cut to the ruins of New York, where a group of mutant APES crawl
from Beneath the rubble. One of them sees a dove flying through the air,
whips out a rifle and shoots it dead. The end.
I remember hearing something along those lines once. It's very intresting
to think about..... well that's all!

I remember when they were on the old laserdisc but it didn't last for

Although I don't really see the point in remaking POTA because the first
one was so good, plus the storyline is pretty much complete, the good
thing is that this new film will no doubt respark a great interest in
the ape films once again.
From star wars hype, to POTA hype.
I can't wait to see that happen once again as it did in the early '70's.

Verification, YES! I remember these episodes ran on KTLA (channel 5) here in Los
Angeles on a late nite showing all week long in the early '80's. Roddy was done up
(poorly) as a graying Galen (the hair looked like crepe wool). The setting was an
attic with all sorts of typical attic stuff, and I seem to remember Roddy playing
with a Mego astronaut doll (you know the one that looks like a janitor with a test
pilot helmet?). Hoakey, but still cool.
I think the guy on Ebay that sells the TV shows and Cartoon tapes has the Roddy
footage. I'll see if I can dig up his info a get it to you.

Someone may want to try connecting with KTLA Channel

Hi Brian,
Thanks for the info. Keep me posted should you uncover anything.
Anyone else have or know of any rarieties ( in addition to the compile
tape being offered around that includes the original test shoot w/ Edward
G. Robinson.)? The AMC Roddy bio ( made by Kevin Burns) featured some footage
of Roddy in make-up on the Carol Burnette Show. Any one know of any others?

of Homers pulling along their ape masters.
Also an Itchy and Scratchy Episode "Planet of the Aches".
There was also reference to "Conquest of the Planet of the Apes" as "Today's
Sermon" outside Reverened Lovejoy's church after the Reverened saved Ned
Flanders from a pit of baboons.
There was also the episode where there was a "Cornfield Roundup" of the
children at the beginning with unmistakibly "Planet of the Apes" background
misic.
I think there are more too.

.htmlYeah, the episode that really spoofed it was the one mentioned earlier
about Selma.
Troy McClure starred in "Stop this Planet of the Apes...I want to get
off!"
It had a musical ripoff of the old 80's song "Amadeus" (retitled as Dr.
Zaius)
The song he sang a broadway style tune at the end went something like
this...
I hate every ape I see,
From Chimpan-A to Chimpan-Z,
But you'll never make a monkey out of me...
(The Statue of Liberty rises in the background)
Oh my god, I was wrong!
It was Earth all along,
you finally made monkey out of me...
(and then the chorus continues this line to the end)
Homer: "I love legitimate theater..."
There was also an episode where Homer was being judged in an arena, very
similar to the one
found in Ape City. Instead of Apes, it was the Planet of the Donuts.
He ended up taking a bite
out of his donut lawyer. As punishment he gets eaten by a giant donut.
It picks him up to eat him
and says "Mmmmmmmmmmm...Homer."

The Cimpan-A to Chimpan-Z one.
Many episodes were done with brief spoofs, but thats the one that goes all
out! (very cool)
I'm hoping to see if I can catch it on a re-run.
Thanks.

POTA came out in '68 I believe and Austin said that in '69.
So that quote was very popular in that time.
It would be great to start capturing those kinds of quotes from movie and
T.V. for my ape site.
That's the project I'm planing on working on soon. just as soon as i get
some quotes that is, its not easy.
I have a short clip from the simpsons; a fish called selma, that i will be

The songs from the Simpson POTA musical are on the CD "Songs in the Key of

One of my favorite spoofs - Heston hosts Saturday Night Live, falls asleep
in the green room, and wakes up to find everyone is an ape. They even did
the opening, where each cast member is announced, with apes.

around ideas on how the nuclear war started in POTA. One of the reasons
was an accident like the one in By Dawn's Early Light (a great movie by
the way).
I think Powers Booth was the pilot that said the line.
It's amazing how POTA has influenced so many other movies and is a
common
reference point for T.V. shows. I wonder if POTA would apply in one of
those
center of the universe games?
Let's take an actor...say Morgan Freeman for instance...
Morgan Freeman was in Shawshank Redemption with Tim Robbins.
Tim Robbins was in Top Gun with Val Kilmer.
Val Kilmer was in Tombstone with Charelton Heston, who was in POTA...
Whoa! POTA really is the center of the universe!
Hey, Powers Booth was in Tombstone with Heston too...I see a pattern
here.
Just kidding.
Have a great weekend everybody!

|
.html Here's some other reference to POTA:
In the movie, "The Chase" with Charlie Sheen, which I think came out
around 1995 maybe.... Anyway, it's near the climax of the movie, and some
head deputy policeman's watching a car chase on a small portable TV, where
cop cars are getting smashed up, it's in the height of it, and then all of a
sudden, the mini T.V. goes static, and then a second later, there's
Charleton Heston in the scene where he says, "Take your stinkin paws off me
you damn dirty apes...." etc. Some dumb guy yells out, "Hey, cool,
monkeys!"
I think one of the best and funnies references I've seen to POTA was in
the movie Spaceballs, which I think came out in the mid 80's. Obviously,
the majority of it is a take-off on star wars, but there's other movies such
as POTA and Wizard of Oz that get some time. Basically, there was a huge
spaceship that was suppose to suck all the air out of this one planet called
Druidia I think it was. The monster spaceship transforms into a huge maid
with a vaccumm. As the movie goes on, eventually the spaceship gets
destroyed, and blown up into a million pieces. Throughout the end of the
movie, you see the maid's head and an arm fly through space. Finally, near
the end, they crash down on some planet, in the desert, right off the
shoreline. The maid's head and arm look very much like the statue of
liberty, but not quite as we know it from the movie. The background and
placement though is really well, with the mountains and shoreline and all.
It then switches, at an exactly perfect camera angle to two chimpanzees
riding up the shoreline on horses. It's the best recreation of the ape
make-up I've ever seen. Basically, they talk a little bit, and end with,
"Well, there goes the planet." It's a must see scene for any POTA fan. The
producer did a really good job with it.
That's all I can think of right now, anyone else got anymore?

.html Another few references that I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned yet :
- Another Simpsons reference. In a flashback, we see Homer and Marge when
they were much younger, going out one evening. Marge asks Homer if he ever
thinks about their future and he replies "you mean like will Apes be our
masters?"
- "This Morning With Richard Not Judy" - British comedy show featuring
Stewart Lee and Richard Herring. They had a series of sketches entitled
"Extra Final Scenes" in which they had extra scenes at the end of famous
movies. For example, their ending of "Titanic" revealed that Jack had
deliberately sunk the ship just to get rid of Rose, their "Thelma & Louise"
saw the two women chicken out of driving off the cliff and decide that they
should just go home and serve their husbands, and "Blues Brothers 2000" saw
Dan Aykroyd and John Goodman dig up John Belushi's grave and urinate on his
corpse, before lots of blood-stained money started raining down from the
sky. All this on Sunday morning TV. Anyway the point is that they also did a
"Planet of the Apes" extra final scene - but I missed it! It had something
to do with finding the Statue of Liberty, then Big Ben, and so on, but
that's all I know. If anyone saw it, please tell me what happened!
(on a related note, Lee & Herring used to do a live radio show as well,
and on one programme they commented on the fact that Planet of the Apes was
on TV that night, and said "for anyone who hasn't seen it, it's Earth all
along".)
- British rap group Blak Twang released a record called "Real Estate",
which contained the lines:
"My estate is like Planet of the Apes,
where puffa jackets with hoods replace the black capes"
OK, so I don't remember anyone wearing any "capes" as such, but they
mentioned Planet of the Apes, so that's good enough for me.
This thread could run and run - I hope someone's making a note of all these!
More as I remember them!

Okay folks,
Question about the 29th Scroll, 6th verse:
Is it "Beware the beast man,for he is the Devil's pawn."
or is it
"...for he is the Devil's spawn."?
I've often wondered about that. Never bothered to buy a
xerox copy of the script to find out though.

Pawn as in tool or device.
An ape prophecy that is later fulfilled in Beneath.
This is why the movie Beneath begins with that segment of POTA.

| Subject: Remake(s) |
.htmlHowdy Apemaniacs.
On the subject of remakes, I've seen three different ideas for the remake :-
1. The one in which history really was changed by Caesar, and consequently
the Earth is not destroyed. Some other astronauts land there in the future,
after Taylor, so it is in effect following regular PotA continuity although
the future isn't exactly how we have seen it in previous films. I only read
a summary of this story, not the actual script, and can't really remember
much else about it. I assume it is the version Mike mentioned earlier. I
believe this was the version being touted as a James Cameron effort.
Thankfully he's no longer involved though.
2. The version that involves DNA-based time travel and so on. If I remember
correctly, this was the script that was the subject of a lengthy review in
the Ape Chronicles fanzine a while back. I have a copy of this script, but I
can't actually remember if I ever finished reading it! I'll have to dig it
out for a spot of bedtime-reading tonight...
3. The Sam Hamm script which was still floating around the internet last
time I looked. I thought this script was actually really good for the most
part - however there was one problem. It seemed to be too action oriented
for a PotA film. The finale with all the monorails and flying apes and stuff
is interesting in some ways but frankly some of it seems ridiculous (like a
very bad Arnie film, or the worst of James Bond movies), especially the
ski-jump idea. I think it would make a good film, but if PotA is to be
remade it would take something special. I think I'm suffering from Star Wars
syndrome here - it doesn't matter what they do with the new film (if they
make it), I'll still compare it to the original series and it'll come off
second-best. I don't know exactly what it is that I doesn't sit right with
me about this script - I mean all the common themes of the original films
are there, and for all I complain about the emphasis on action I still love
Conquest and Battle (ant the TV series come to think of it), which were very
action-based. Also, like the original film (and most of the sequels) it has
a great ending, in that they have resisted the temptation to have a happy
ending with a cure for the plague. My only complaint about the ending is
that it's a bit too predictable, especially if you've read Boulle's original
novel. Perhaps it's that I just don't think the characters are strong
enough. They seem more like standard comic book characters than a film
character whom you can really care about. I can't honestly see any parts in
this script that a decent actor could really get their teeth into - unlike
the performances of Heston and Evans (and to a lesser extent MacDowall and
Hunter) in the original film. Or perhaps it's just that a new film wouldn't
have the nostalgia one associates with the original films.
All things considered, I think I'd rather they didn't remake PotA at all.
However, one thing I've always had a little dream about is a TV miniseries
faithfully adapting Boulle's novel, or perhaps an animated movie based on
it. But alas I suspect they'll only remain a dream. Unless of course I
become incredibly rich and famous and move to Hollywood. I don't think
that's too likely though.
Anyone agree/disagree strongly with me? Anyone read any other remake ideas?
I await your comments!
Alan

.html I also heard about the other Remake ideas and many more which are very
similar with different twists. However I do wish they made a POTA remake, as
long as they stay true to the original elements, so a future generation will
maybe say thats a cool movie i wonder what the original was like? and maybe
learn a little about our society of the past and present.
I also agree with your idea on the novel adaptation, it was a little more
realistic than the movie in some aspects (to find out what, I suggest you
read it, it's quite good).an animated version would make a great movie/tv
mini-series as long as its not "Cartoon-ish".
Hope to hear from you guys soon, the last POTA list i was on abondoned me!! <.html

.htmlHey Gang,
I thumbed through a script back in 1989-90 when Director Adam Rifkin was
involved. I believe it was his script that got Oliver Stone interested at the
time, if my failing memory serves me right.
Regardless of who wrote it, it was a pretty cool idea. It takes place some 30
years after the first film's story (disregarding all of the film's sequels).
Taylor and Nova's son has grown to adulthood, as has Zira and Cornelius's son.
It was a conspiracy concept story with someone knocking off all of the ape
Hi-Council one-by-one. Had Stone-style written all over it.
We (the late Alterian Studios) had just finished Rifkin's "The Dark Backwards"
so we were all abuzz to do conceptuals for his Apes script at the time.
Eventually, momentum and interest in the project petered out, especially after
"Darkbackwards" failure in the box office.
I still have some of the concepts stashed away somewhere. Would've been cool.
I've seen some of the newer ideas for the CD-Rom game, and they've gone the
same direction as some of the Rifkin-era designs, so that's kindof neat too.
Have a great weekend, y'all.

The 12 inch Gorilla Hasbro are selling on line is different to the one that
is in stores. The on-line version is a Gorilla Soldier w/ backpack and gun.
The regular release is a Gorilla Sergeant w/ capture net. His jacket
features the ranking insignia as seen in the TV series. I don't know if the
there are any other differences as I haven't got the Sergeant as yet. The
Soldier's head is a different mold to that of the previously released
"Ursus" but the colors of his uniform are all wrong. A shame when they put
so much attention to detail into the 12 inch Star Wars figures. Either way,
I'm happy to be able to buy NEW Apes merchandise in 1999.
Apparently the smaller figures have hit the shelves in Walmart and Target (
on the west coast at least).
Best,
KEN

I haven't been to the Toy's R Us near me yet, but I hear they have them

The sculpts aren't so great and the paint jobs were a bit awkward (cornelius'

All in all, THEY ARE NEW PLANET OF THE APES TOYS!!! YAHOO!!!

Well, you've come to the right place once again Chris.
Point one: Make-up artist Bob Romero (who worked on the first 2 films
at least, that I know of) has several original Roddy pieces and Kim
pieces, as well as a complete Zira Bust the was made for a display at
the 1968 Acadamy Awards Ceremony he is going to be selling sometime
after August 24th (he is currently in europe on assignment). He also
told me that he has 2 original holsters (with dummy pistols) and some
Last Starfighter items he is looking to unload.
Make-up artist Dan Striepeke has also been openning his closet up this
past year to let go of some pretty nice original prosthetics and pull
over (stunt and background) masks. I saw a few of the items that Dan
was selling earlier this year and they were VERY well preserved for
their age. I do know that one set of pieces he let go (gorilla, male
chimp, and female chimp) fetched over 3G's, so just be aware of what you
may expect as more closets get opened up to collectors.
I know that Fox Archives is VERY interested in Mr. Romero's items,
especially the Zira bust and the holsters. We'll see what becomes of
those pieces when Bob gets back from Europe.
Point Two:
Apemania.com is making available prosthetic kits as well as deluxe pull
over masks and economy masks as part of their new line of specialty
Planet of the Apes merchandise.
The "new look" for the Apemania website will debut by the end of this
week, with a complete line of specialty merchandise licensed by 20th
Century Fox. So stop by and check us out!
Hope this answers your quetsions.

.html Hey! I'm on the East coast...Philadelphia..none of the figures have been
released here yet....Which is strange, Because Hasbro - Kenner is in Long
Island, NY. Someone noted that they are in Target and Walmart on the West
coast. These stores never sold the first series Apes. I've only seen them at
Toys R. Us and Kay bee toys stores. I'm disappointed that nobody thinks the
quality is good. It would have been fantastic if Tom Macfarlane (who did the
Movie Maniacs) sculpted the figures. His detailing is amazing. Also there is
a company that is making keychains, lighters and pill boxes with a Gorilla
soldier image on it. Would love to see pictures of everyone's Ape
collections...Mine has become a whole room in my house over the past couple

They're in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. That's where their mail order stuff
comes from, at least . . .

Target in Cherry Hill had tons of the first series, especially after
they were marked down to $12. Not sure if I saw them at Wal-Mart.

I'm disappointed that the quality isn't good.

.htmlThanks to everyone who provided information on the new action figures.
I'm in Mississippi and I purchased the first 3 at Toys R Us (we
fortunately have 2 stores in town).
They were also at Wal-Mart and Kay Bee Toys. Toys R Us had them in the
discount bin for $4.95.
I haven't seen any of the new ones down here in the South, so my guess
is that they hit the West
Coast first. I'll be sure to purchase the on-line gorilla from Hasbro.
I had a bad feeling that it would
be an on-line exclusive, so thanks for confirming!
Thanks!

Someone should sell a "Planet of the Apes Action Figure Cosmetic Corrections
Kit". Why is it that the darn toy makers can't get the Apes right,
but they can do great Skeleton Warriors and kick butt with anything attached
to McFarlaine?
B
PS: We did give the Hasbro reps hell about the 30th Anniversary
line when they visited our booth at E-3 this year. There's video
somewhere of Apes reprimanding Hasbro reps floating around somewhere.

Because McFarlane owns his company. Star Wars has Lucas. POTA has no one to
police the quality of merchandising, or no one who WILL. Don't look for Fox
to do it - they couldn't even get the artwork on their video boxes right.

Maybe someone should suggest this to Fox - I'm sure we'd all be fighting

Bob will be in Europe until the 24th of August on assignment. He is not
cyber-connected (doesn't do the e-mail thing), so you can't connect with him
that way yet.
I'll ask him when he get's back how he wants to handle people inquiring about
the items. I can't hand out his phone number until he tells me it's okay.
I think he plans to sell the items at auction, a real auction like Sotherbies,
not ebay.
I'll keep the group posted.

I'd like to see any of them, done properly. I'm living in a fantasy world,
there.
For a long while, KB's online site listed a POTA 2 pack exclusive - it was
allegedly Taylor (in rags) and Nova - whatever it was, they cancelled it.
I saw Wave 2 in Target in NJ. The Gorilla sergeant is actually a new
sculpt, but reuses Ursus' gloves.

done a less than satisfying job on the POTA figs. I believe it would be
worth
while to contact Hasbro and let them know how we feel about their
designs.
We have more than enough people here to get their attention if we can
all
E-mail them and voice our concerns. This is one address I found, but if
anyone else has a better point-of-contact, let us know. Maybe it will
make
a difference! Thanks!

Mutants, and lots of them! The problem with the Apes is that a lot of them
would look the same. Breck from Conquest too - dig that black uniform.
Actually, who cares what I want - I have to be honest and say that as yet I
haven't actually bought any of them. Just too expensive over here.

.html I'd love to share the customized pics with you - as soon as I have some! The
figures are in various stages of completion. I had a nice Cornelius, but
sent it to a friend in trade. I still need to sculpt the chest armor for
Ursus - I'm just one man!!!
I have some plans for Wave 2 - they did get Zira's outfit right, but she
looks like she has makeup on! And she's wearing man-boots. Taylor needs to
be blonder and tanner. Those TV stripes on the sergeant are coming off, and
Ursus is getting his belt and holster. If you combined a Soldier outfit
(sleeves, pants, both dyed) with the Sergeant outfit (vest, boots), you
might have something.
Wave 3? Color me cynical, but I think that's some wishful thinking . . .

I
am looking to buy a gorilla soldier head to toe uniform (including a

licensed mask available from Badplanet and other costume outlets any

far as components go, I am more interested in really top-notch repro

getting damaged. Thanks for your time!!

That's really nice, but does the rifle come off the plaque, or is it
permanently attached? What about price range? Hmm?
I've seen some of Fox's newer licensed stuff (figures, for example), and
it makes me sick that they've managed to greenlight products that even
*I* wouldn't buy. And I've bought some stupid shit with the POTA logo
on it, I don't mind telling you.

By any chance does it have a collection of 4 Comic books on the back cover?
As too showing a picture of the collection of all four?
Because I do still have that collection, the collection has:
Planet
Beneath
Escape
Battle
All sold seprately, but showing the collection on the back cover.
For some odd reason they left out Conquest.
But as of today I still have all four that came in the original collection.
Plus two others from a separate collection from the T.V. episodes.
But those were only 45's themselves. (No books as the planet of the ape
movies did)
All from the 70's.
If you find out anything let me know.

.htmlI've got a couple of those book & record things (Escape & Battle) and I'd
agree with the price mentioned - about a tenner is the average price when
I've seen them in the UK (about $15US?). I also saw a record once (didn't
have any cash on me!) which didn't appear to have any of the comics but it
was a 33 1/3 LP which collected all 4 recordings.
I've wondered too about why they didn't do Conquest, but I reckon it's
probably because of the market they were aiming for. The book & record sets
appear to be aimed at kids, and I suppose Conquest could be seen (at the
time anyway) as being a bit too dark and violent for kids.
The adaptations weren't particularly accurate either from I can see - the
one particular detail I like to moan about until everyone is sick of hearing
of it is that in the Battle adaptation, Caesar's son Cornelius doesn't even
make an appearance! Strange since part of the plot revolved around his
death.
