.htmlI recently bought a set of 4 (sealed) of these "Power Records" comic/record
sets for $25 each.
I believe the audience that Power Records were aiming for involved younger
children (for whom the record could actually ASSIST the development of
reading skills) and the idea of Conquest was a little too violent and
bloodthirsty for them to justify including it.
The 4 "movie" stories also appear on an LP without any associated comic
books (and without the damned dirty "chime" to prompt you to turn the page).
There are actually 3 45's (all TV Series Character Related). These also
appear together (with a 4th, I think) on an LP.
Just to pick up on a previous topic, I found the new 5 "smaller" action
figures in a record store here in Canberra, Australia on Friday. I'm amazed
that anyone would complain - sure they are not perfect, but they beat the
hell out of the crap we bought (and, in my case, still buy for incredible
prices!) in the late 60's/early 70's. I thought these new figures were
quite amazing.
By the way, if our group were to have any input into what Hasbro should
make, we'd send the company into abrupt bankruptcy (but, yes, they would be
able to look at themselves in the mirror). Too bad Apes did not command the
same public frenzy as Star Wars - then maybe the companies would be able to
justify (from their sales) the need to offer an Excellent product rather
than the next best thing due to cost restrictions.

.htmlI have a little query about the latest Apes figures (the 7-inch ones). Is
there a reason why Heston's picture isn't on the packaging for "Commander"
Taylor?
I was looking at the pictures on the back, the ones intended for use as part
of the display stand, and I notice that Zaius and Cornelius both appear on
theirs. Did Heston not allow his likeness to be used (I know this has
happened with other celebrities before)? Or am I being silly and reading too
much into it? It just seemed that everything pointed that way, but as I
said, maybe I'm just being silly.
Anyone know the answer?

You are correct. This is also why those figures bear only the most
perfunctory resemblance to Heston. Bunch of crap. <.html

Does there appear to be an abundance of these in the retail stores? I'm

they
don't make it down this way anytime soon.
Thanks

Where on the net would you order them? I can't seem to find these here
locally either... same goes for the new 12" figures. The first 3 three
were everywhere, but the new three have not made it out here yet... same
goes for the 7". Info on where to order on the net? Thanks. <.html

.htmlEntertainment Earth is selling cases of the new 7" figures and the 12"
figures.
They are a little pricey and that's why I was hoping to find them
locally. I'm in
Mississippi and sometimes it takes a bit long for things to get here,
but I'm
starting to think that some of the stores may not carry them until
X-Mas, if at all.
Is anyone else having trouble finding these latest figures?

(in MS) and there they
were! I had been checking all the local stores with no luck, but I
think these had just come in.
They were also $9.95 each! It took a while, but the apes have finally
made it down South (ha ha).
I recommend these if you can find them for the same price. I also
picked up 2 of each, so I can
do some converting/customizing.
Thanks again...

extra ATTENTION TO DETAIL was all that these 12" figures needed. Using
different color clothes and paints wouldn't have cost any more, and they
would have sold a ton more.
I used acrylic paint on the face, and colored the costume parts with a
brown Sharpie. I may try dyeing the next one.

They are also the co. that is responsible for the Pokemon CCG craze

Knowing Hasbro's past reputation of goofing things up (i.e. POTA

it will be interesting to see how a toy company handles a gaming company

In most cases an average
copy of these "Power Records" are worth $5.00 Though a sealed/mint

Most have lots of
wear.
The 45's in at least the
"battle" set come in 2 different colors. One is bright yellow and one is
a dark pink
Only 4 of the movies had a
"power record" release back in 1974 from Power Records/Marvel

Hi--
Terry Hoknes suggested I get in touch with you folks...
As one of the ancients who saw POTA when it
was originally released (although--I was just a toddler!), my love for
the series--obviously!-- goes back a ways.
For years now, I've been wanting to read the short treatment that Pierre
Boulle submitted to POTA's producers, for the first sequel. (Word
was that Boule had titled it, PLANET OF THE MEN...
I hope that this isn't an imposition, but if anyone out there has a
copy--or can point me
in the right direction of where to get, or at least read, one, I'd be
much appreciatve!
(I have loads of neat stuff, in terms of potential tradeback...)
Incidentally--I was delighted to see on the E-Mail list, Phil Nobile...
Phil and I met a few years back at a movie convention, and stayed in
touch for a while.
(Phil, if you're out there, drop me a line!)
Thanks!

i was wondering if you might know someone who would
be interested in the following original Planet of the Apes artifacts,
actually used in the making of the classic movies. 1) an original
wooden gorilla rifle with lead site/bolt 2) a complete closeup Gorilla
Soldier costume, including leather vest, boots with
rubber "toes", gloves, purple cloth undergarment (pants
and shirt) and leather-trimmed bandolero with carved wood "pouches" - this
is not one of those crummy far-background leatherette costumes you see on
ebay - this one is all leather and in very fine shape. there is a name tag
inside the undergarment pants - i believe it reads "Tim McH".
3) a complete chimpanzee outfit, including leather
trimmed green tunic, pants and hand-shaped shoes. mint
condition!
I got these costumes within the last year as part of a whole
collection that included other items besides Apes stuff. I am an Apes
collector, but already had a gorilla and chimp costume.of course, you can never
have too many apes costumes and so i was planning to keep them, but alas, we
need some money so it's time to sell some doubles.
both costumes are
absolutely authentic with the original costume tags in them. the chimp is
in near-pristine shape. there are a few scuffs on the gorilla vest, there are
some holes in the fingers of the gloves and the paint is bubbling a bit on one
of the boots, but all of these could easily be repaired. i'm looking to get
US$5000 for the chimp and US$6000 for the gorilla.

It's not a profile. It's a straight on image of Che with Cornelius' face .
. . I read a brief about that in Spin. The artist's name is Ruslan
Karablin. He has a line of clothing called SSUR --- but i have not been
able to find it anywhere! The shirt in question is called "Che Ape."
It's really pretty damn cool!

Hi
All,
I
remember when the Curtis POTA Comic Books were taken off the market - it took me
a while to find out they were discontinued as I live in
Australia.
You
may recall all the movies had been retold in comic book format at the end of
Issue #28, which containes the final chapter of Battle.
Also
in #28 was a story in the continuing series of Terror on the Planet of the Apes
- "Revolt of the Gorriloids". This story was far from finished
and I have always wanted to know if the remaining parts of this story were
written and awaiting artwork (or even complete and sitting around somewhere!!) -
does anyone have an answer? Recently when the new comic series came about,
Adventure Comics began to re-do the "Terror" series and I thought
maybe they would know (or even pick up where Curtis left off) , but alas
Adventure Comics no longer survive either.......
Also,
I would like to know the same about the "Ape Chronicles" series of
which Part V appeared in issue #29 (the final issue).
Can
anyone help me out here?
Michael

Seriously though, I finally picked up the latest line of the POTA figs.
in
the Hasbro Signature Series (the smaller ones). Not that it surprised
me,
but the Cornelius and Zaius figures looked terrible. The sloppy paint
job on
Cornelius' face was just pure mud and the colors are way off. The
gorillas
were better, but the rifle on the gun had no grip or trigger. I just
wish that
they had released a Zira figure in that line. Any comments out there?

Anyway, The "Icarus" site is very cool and a good read. Don't miss it!
Here in Australia 2oth Century Fox Home Entertainment is planning to release
the entire run of the TV series early next year based on the success of the
movie release earlier this year.
The packaging will be similar to the movie release ( to maintain some
continuity) yet will be more authentic. i.e. will feature the correct apes to
corresponding tapes ( and no spoilers!). The tapes will be available in two
box sets with 7 episodes in each box. Australia is being used as a trial, if
the release is successful
( by comparison) they could be released in other countries. As our VHS system
is PAL, this means the tapes cannot be viewed on NTSC systems used in the U.S,
Japan and Canada.
More news as it happens!!

This was one of my biggest complaints too (except for the ones I've
mentioned previously) - the paint on their faces was poor. I actually liked
the gorilla ones overall, but I have two complaints - the "TV stripes" (not
that I don't like the TV series, but in the interests of accuracy...) and
the fact that the two gorilla figs were very very similar.
Of course I still bought them all anyway.
OK, so it's self-indulgence time - if they brought out other 7" figs (and
assuming they were going to do a good job on them), what would you like to
see?
My votes:
Zira; Ursus; Nova; Brent
And how about some nice presentation-style box sets (if you've seen DC
Comics' JLA sets you'll know the sort of thing I mean), 5 figures in each:
"Beneath" set - all 5 mutants, complete with separate "flesh" masks
"Escape" set - (assuming Cornelius & Zira were already available separately)
Hasslein, a military guy, Armando, and the two human doctors
"Conquest" set - MacDonald, Breck, and one of each kind of Ape (in the
different coloured uniforms)
"Battle" set - Aldo, Virgil, Kolp, MacDonald, Alma
"TV" set - Virdon, Burke, Galen, Urko, Zaius
*Sigh*. If only Fox had given me that job...

Hmmmmm... My wish list for the 7" figs. would be:
Nova, Brent, Zira, Ursus (geez, I can't imagine how bad that one will
look).
I would like to see them do the human mutants for once...
I figure the Nova fig. will look like a bad Xena sculpt...but let's hope
not.

.htmlIs this for real?!? Some country might actually see a video release of the
TV series? Wow.
And Australian PAL is slightly different from UK PAL, isn't it? I had my
hopes up for a minute. PAL, NTSC, SECAM... I get confused...

.htmlI can tell you this...APEMANIA's Dr. Zaius (actor Laird Macintosh) is in Paris
France as we speek doing motion capture work for the game (lucky stiff). The
rest of the APEMANIA troupe is slated to do voice-overs in November here in
Hollywood.
FOX Interactive is still planning on a spring release, so we'll see how it
goes.

It also helps to have an APE fan on staff at TCFHE.
You can watch Aust. PAL videos on UK PAL VCRs.

forward to as their attention to detail is awesome on their other lines. Cornelius
and two different Gorillas are possible first releases.

The bad news? This 12 inch fig retailed for around $90 . . .

.htmlDetails are sketchy at the moment. Have only heard of three figures so far.
Also don't know how posable they will be as Medicom have two different body
types, a G.I Joe style that is fully posable and a basic style that wouldn't
be any more posable than the Hasbro 7' line. Either way, they're a guaranteed
to be superior to the Hasbro figures......hopefully.

IF YOU HAVE A MOMENT PLEASE READ THIS MESSAGE:
He was in the first third grade class I taught at Saint Mary's School in
Morris, Minn. All 34 of my students were dear to me,
but Mark Eklund was one in a million. Very neat in appearance, but
had that happy-to-be-alive attitude that made even his
occasional mischievousness delightful.
Mark talked incessantly. I
had to remind him again and again that talking without permission was
not acceptable. What impressed me so much, though, was his sincere response
every time I had to correct him for misbehaving "Thank you for correcting me,
Sister!"
I didn't know what to make of it at first, but before long
I became accustomed to hearing it many times a day. One morning my patience
was growing thin when Mark talked once too often, and then I made a
novice-teacher's mistake. I looked at Mark and said, "If you say one more word,
I am going to tape your mouth shut!" It wasn't ten seconds later when
Chuck blurted out, "Mark is talking again." I hadn't asked any
of the students to help me watch Mark, but since I had stated the
punishment in front of the class, I had to act on it. I
remember the scene as if it had occurred this morning. I walked to my
desk, very deliberately opened by drawer and took out a roll of
masking tape. Without saying a word, I proceeded to Mark's desk, tore
off two pieces of tape and made a big X with them over his mouth.
I then returned to the front of the room. As I glanced at Mark
to see how he was doing, he winked at me. That did it!! I
started laughing. The class cheered as I walked back to Mark's
desk, removed the tape, and shrugged My shoulders. His first
words were, "Thank you for correcting me,
Sister."
At the end of the year, I was asked to teach junior-high math.
The years flew by, and before I knew it Mark was in my classroom
again. He was more handsome than ever and just as polite. Since he
had to listen carefully to my instruction in the "new math," he did not
talk as much in ninth grade as he had in third.
One Friday, things
just didn't feel Right. We had worked hard on a new concept all
week, and I sensed that the students were frowning, frustrated with themselves,
and edgy with one another. I had to stop this crankiness before it got out
of hand. So I asked them to list the names of the other students in
the room on two sheets of paper, leaving a space between each name.
Then I told them to think of the nicest thing they could say about each of
their classmates and write it down. It took the remainder of the
class period to finish their assignment, and as the students left the room,
each one handed me the papers. Charlie smiled, Mark said, "Thank you for
teaching me, Sister. Have a good weekend." That
Saturday, I wrote down the name of each student on a separate sheet of paper,
and I listed what everyone else had said about that individual. On Monday I gave
each student his or her list. Before long, the entire class
was smiling. "Really?" I heard whispered. "I never
knew that meant anything to anyone!" "I didn't know others liked
me so much".
No one ever mentioned those papers in class
again. I never knew if they discussed them after class or with
their parents, but it didn't matter. The exercise had Accomplished its
purpose. The students were happy with themselves and one another again.
That group of students moved on. Several years later, after I
returned from vacation, my parents met me at the airport. As we
were driving home, Mother asked me the usual questions about the
trip, the weather, and my experiences in general.
There was a lull
in the conversation. Mother gave Dad a sideways glance, and simply said,
"Dad?"
My father cleared his throat as he usually did
before something important. "The Eklunds called last night,"
he began. "Really?" I said. "I haven't heard from them in
years. I wonder how Mark is." Dad responded quietly.
"Mark was killed in Vietnam," he said. "The funeral is tomorrow, and his
parents would like it if you could attend." To this day I can
still point to the exact spot on I-494 where Dad told me about
Mark. I had never seen a serviceman in a military coffin
before. Mark looked so handsome, so mature. All I could think at
that moment was, 'Mark, I would give all the masking tape in the world
if only you would talk to me.' The church was packed with
Mark's friends. Chuck's sister sang "The Battle Hymn of the
Republic." Why did it have to rain on the day of the funeral?
It was difficult enough at the graveside.
The pastor said the usual
prayers, and the bugler played taps. One by one, those who loved Mark
took a last walk by the coffin and sprinkled it with holy water.I was the
last one to bless the coffin.
As I stood there, one of the
soldiers who acted as pallbearer came up to me. "Were you
Mark's math teacher?" he asked. I nodded as I continued to stare at
the coffin. "Mark talked about you a lot," he said. After the funeral,
most of Mark's former classmates headed to Chuck's farmhouse for
lunch.
Mark's mother and father were there, obviously waiting for me. "We
want to show you something," his father said, taking a wallet out of his
pocket. "They found this on Mark when he was killed. We thought you
might recognize it."
Opening the billfold, he carefully removed two
worn pieces of notebook paper that had obviously been taped, folded
and refolded many times. I knew without looking that the papers
were the ones on which I had listed all the good things each of Mark's
Classmates had said about him.
"Thank you so much for doing
that," Mark's mother said. "As you can see, Mark treasured
it."
Mark's classmates started to gather around us. Charlie
smiled rather sheepishly and said, "I still have my list. It's
in the top drawer of my desk at home." Chuck's wife said, "Chuck asked
me to put his in our wedding album." "I have mine too," Marilyn
said. "It's in my diary." Then Vicki, another classmate, reached into
her pocketbook, took out her wallet and showed her worn and
frazzled list to the group. "I carry this with me at all times," Vicki said
without batting an eyelash. "I think we all saved our lists." That's when
I finally sat down and cried. I cried for Mark and for all his friends who would
never see him again.

The purpose of this letter is to encourage everyone to compliment the
people you love and care about. We often tend to forget the importance
of showing our affections and love. Sometimes the
smallest of things, could mean the most to another. I am asking you to
please send this letter around and spread the message and encouragement, to
express your love and caring by complimenting and being open with
communication. The density of people in society is so thick that we forget that
life will end one day. And we don't know when that one day will be.
So please, I beg of you, to tell the people you love and care for, that
they are special and important. Tell them, before it is
too late.

Traditionally, most astronauts are in the military. Wasn't the
schoolteacher on the Challenger supposed to be the first civillian in
space?
Taylor was a Colonel, I believe.

.html Please keep in mind this is a huge RUMOR, but I recently read on
the Internet (The Action Figure times forum) that, if this new 1999 7"
and 12" line of POTA figures is successfull, there is a possibily that
more figures will be made by Hasbro. These figures may include:
A 7" Nova and Ursus (presumably from BTPOTA)
" A 12" Zira in Space suit, 12" Cornelius in Space suit, and 12" Human
mutant.
Since I don't know how well (or poorly) these recent POTA figures are
selling, I'm not sure what the chances are of these rumored figures
actually coming out. I know that some of the the new 7" figures are
hard to find (Taylor), and I have never seen the new 12" line of
figures (Taylor, Zira, and Gorilla Soldier) at retail ANYWHERE, and the
only place I've seen the 7" figures is at Target. Of course, this
could all be because of poor distribution... <.html

.html Hi. I've been thinking of some things that are interesting about
BTPOTA...
* Brent looks (and sounds!) very, very similar to a younger Taylor
(when Taylor had the beard in Planet) - since I don't believe in
coincidences, this may have been done by the filmmakers to explain why
Nova likes and trusts him, since she liked and trusted Taylor..
* In the film (not the novel), the mutants were dressed up in pristine
white robes, uniforms, etc. Since they had been underneath the earth
for thousands of years (or at least their ancestors had been) it didn't
make sense for these robes to look so new - the robes should've been
dirty, ripped, etc. I don't think they had any way to get any new
clothes underground (unless they came across a JC Penney's or Neiman
Marcus that hadn't been touched by the bomb, which is unlikely since
the bombs were aimed at the major cities...) Of course, I guess they
could've made their own clothes...this looks like another possible plot
hole, but I guess it can be explained...
* How does Nova, who is a savage, keep looking so good and stay so
healthy? From what we saw in POTA, she and her people lived in the
forests like animals. It's strange that she wasn't prematurely aged,
or sickly, or something...(of course, I'm glad she looks as good as she
does..)
Just my ramblings.... <.html

.html It's unlikely that Milo (even with the help of Zira and Cornelius)
could've retrieved even part of Taylor's ship (after it had sunk in
the lake in "Planet"), rebuilt it, and gotten it launched again. After
all, the technology that the apes had in "Planet" and "Beneath" was
very limited; it was around the technology that our own Earth had
pre-Industrial revolution (maybe around 1850). There were no
railroads, cars, etc., so there was NO real way that Milo could've
figured out how to do something like this.
However, since I like to try to think up explanations for the
unexplainable (and since it obviously did happen in the context of the
films), how about this: shortly after it crashed, the spaceship somehow
miraculously washed up on shore (maybe there was a hurricane/typhoon of
some sort which hit the lake where the ship sunk, and which caused the
ship to be "propelled" out of the water), Milo noticed the ship first,
and with the help of Zira and Cornelius (and many strong horses) pulled
it out of sight into a wooded area. The schematics/repair instructions
(for the ship) were in the ship itself (which was waterproof). Anyway,
with these instructions, maybe he somehow did the impossible and
repaired it, set up a launch pad, etc. using some parts he had found
somewhere (maybe in the remains of NYC). The ship was waterproof, so
it wasn't damaged too much. The ship had some extra ANSA uniforms
(that fit all of the apes, since they were roughly human size)...
Of course, that still doesn't explain why the ship looked so much
different at the beginning of "Escape" than it did in "Planet" (it was
white in planet and gray in escape, I believe). Maybe the time travel
and the re-entrance into Earth's atmostphere affected the color?
Yes, I know it's not a great explanation, but I couldn't think of a
better one... <.html

Cornelius and

these.
I'm banking on that Japanese company to do a better job with their

I bought the six they had, but they have not reordered (I suspect they

The prices over here are unbelievable. The average for the 12" figs is about
£20 (roughly $30) and I've seen them being sold as high as £30. The 7"
figures I have also seen selling anywhere up to £16 ($25)!!! I got all five
as a set for £45, which seems to be about the average in my neck of the
woods. I have only seen the 7" figures at memorabilia fairs and mail order
companies, but the 12" figs seem to be pretty widely available (though the
first wave seems to have more or less disappeared).

Given that he says it's doomsday and lurches forward with his hand
outstretched when detonating the bomb, I reckon it's a certainty that he
intended it. Especially given his rant a few minutes earlier about letting
them all die. Of course, since it's Heston we're talking about, maybe he
only nuked them because he didn't have a rifle within his reach!

.htmlOK, it's a less serious one this time...
Last night I was watching the PotA TV series on the UK Sci Fi channel. It
was the episode "The Gladiators".
Tolar proudly boasts that he has killed "as many [men] as I have fought".
Since he just fought Pete and lost, doesn't that leave one death unaccounted
for? :)
I guess being a fighter he wasn't too good at maths!
Which means the episode tonight must be "The Trap" - one of my favourites.
Have you ever noticed that in this episode, near the end, when the gorilla
soldier is crumpling up the poster, it's actually a blank piece of paper he
has in his hand?

Maybe there were one or two plain old killings in there. You know, without
the fighting. So maybe he lost that fight with Pete, but a couple years
back he knifed a dude during a card game gone bad, so he's even.
You asked.

towards the human race, then against the apes.
For it was the human race that caused the apes to rise with their nuclear
war aswell as creating the Alpha Omega bomb.
Talor's anger against the human race was complete in Beneath.
Strange how everyone sees things differently.
Just a thought.

.html Just wondering. I never saw any of them in the theatre and think it
would be great to see them digitally re-mastered, with enhanced sound
and on a big screen.
Anyone know of any plans for this? This would be a good time to do
it, since there's all this renewed interest in the
franchise...(re-release of videotapes, new toys, etc.)
If Fox didn't think that releasing this on many screens would work,
how about on a select few screens in certain cities? They did this for
the new digitally re-mastered "Yellow Submarine".......... <.html

.html Since Hasbro is making all of these new toys (7" and 12" figures), it
would be really cool to see some new vehicles/playsets (to scale with
the 7" figures), like:
* A horse for the gorilla soldiers (Ursus, etc.)
* The Icarus (Taylor's ship) with life capsules
* A POTA treehouse (like in "Battle")
* An Alpha-Omega bomb playset (from Beneath)
* A lawgiver staute playset (from Beneath)
The possibilities are endless!! <.html

time
to have done so would have been this past year for the 30th Anniversary,
but I doubt Fox was willing to put any money into them. If anything,
they
may have some nice features in store for the DVD releases. Let's just
hope
that the new movie isn't a total disaster. I'm going to try to remain
optimistic,
but we'll see as new details are released.

I first saw BTPOTA back in '70 when I was 10 and it hooked me right away (I
didn't see POTA until a few years later when all of the films were
re-released in theaters in a "Go Ape" marathon). Over the past 30 years, I
never thought that Taylor's final words were directed at anyone but Dr.
Zaius, so the idea that he's condemning the human race while ending the
world is a new one. Judging from how Taylor felt about people in general,
this explanation of his last action would make sense. But if he truly did
hate humanity so much, why would he have gone with Brent to try to disarm
the Bomb in the first place? Was his whole intention to get close enough to
the Bomb to set it off no matter what else happened?

David, I don't think he was looking to disarm the bomb!
If you watch the beginning of the first film again, you will see that
Taylor's hatred of humanity is already firmly rooted. He suggest he left
the earth, thinking there must be something better than mankind "out there"
somewhere . . . which makes his discovery of the planet of apes all the
more horrifying to him. Because he isn't encountering an enlightened
society, but rather the de-evolution of his own human one.
Obviously, the rant at the end of the first film was anger at mankind for
destroying their society.
The anger at the end of the 2nd film, as well, is anger at mankind (who has
evolved into the speachless humanoids or the bomb-worshipping mutants) --
compounded with anger at the gorillas. I think Taylor was a pretty angry
and jaded guy, who ONLY GOT WORSE as the films went on . . .
Thus, I agree with this earlier point:
>> Taylor's anger against the human race was complete in Beneath.
>> Strange how everyone sees things differently.

That would be cool. But I agree with the notion that if they weren't going
to do it for the 30th anniversary they're unlikely to do it anytime soon.
Wasted opportunity.
On the other hand, one of my local cinemas (well, about 15 miles away
actually) is doing a great triple bill on Sunday - "Logan's Run" followed by
"PLANET OF THE APES"!!! followed by "The Omega Man". To quote Homer
Simpson - "woo-hoo!"
Of course, it'll more than likely be a terrible quality print, but what the
heck, it's still a lot bigger than my TV screen! Great to finally get a
chance to see it on the big screen - being one of the younger generation
(born '77), I missed it all first time round.

.htmlThat is indeed correct.
The comments made by Taylor in both Planet and Beneath was towards the human
race. For I'm sure that everyone will remember that Taylor volunteered for
the mission hoping to find something better than man out in the universe.
Only to find something even worst, created by the same world he left behind.
In the end, Taylor's final comment was to mankind, as it was in Planet.
Bloody Bastards!
And rightly so.

.html At the very end of "Planet", Taylor says to the young chimp, Lucius,
"Never trust anyone over 30." Well, not only does this comment date
the film to the rebellious 60's, it's also stupid since Taylor himself
is well over 30. What's the deal here? Why did the filmakers put this
in the film? IMHO, films that don't use pop-culture references age
much better...(Star Wars being a good example..) <.html
