I wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday, too!!! I personally refuse to be any
older than say, 25! LOL! After that, things get real repetitive and old and
boring and....keep around that age and interest and you'll never get old and
boring. I think that's why some people have kids late..so they can stay
young. I know of a few who have admitted this!
I cannot wait to see if Heston IS going to be in the remake! Nobel Peace

| Subject: A Neat Idea |
|
.html Hello--
I know this is off topic--
But this is a pretty neat thing, to help provide food for less fortunate
nations--
Which is pretty terrific!
Just by clicking on the icon below, you'll be taken to THE HUNGER SITE.
Then, by clicking on the yellow box, that says "Donate Free Food," in
the middle of the page (it's clearly marked), a CUP OF FOOD will be
donated, by the site's underwriting sponsors--
AT NO COST TO YOU!
You're allowed to click on the site, once a day (and, hence, just for
the cost of a few seconds of your time, CONTRIBUTE food.)
Again, this, at absolutely no cost, to the clicker.
(What I've done, is bookmark the sight--and I simply click on it, and
then click on the yellow box, once a day.)
Sort of a win-win, and it gives one the chance to do some good--
Almost effortlessly!
Again, my apologies for going off topic--
But I felt this was worth it!
Best,
That Old Apes Dinosaur,
Jim Burns

I will be posting them on the site and hopefuly

Hey Terry and Jeff,
I've just received your fanzine magazines, all 36
of them, great stuff!!
And as promised I will give a plug for the mag on
my site, I hope you guys have enjoyed my CD.
Jeff buddy, you are one hell of an artist, not
bad!
Great stuff.

.html Hello everyone. Sorry for the off topic post, but I'm at the end of
my rope.
I'm currently editing a short film (shot on 16mm, editing digitally),
and I'm trying to track down any Super 8 footage from the 70s that
shows two brothers playing outside, preferably in a pool. This is
for a brief but important flashback sequence, and so far I've not
found it.
I know it's not likely I'll find anything that matches exactly what I
have in mind, but if anyone out there can help, I'd like to get this
footage transferred to digital tape asap, and will handle the footage
with completely professional care. I've hit many of the online stock
houses, and come up empty.
Really want an authentic feel, and can't wait until next summer to
shoot it myself, so any help you can offer from your attics and
garages is much appreciated. Thanks!

.htmlMovie Headlines Ape page has a 'spoiler' on the new apes film and a genaral
look at the plot. The link below is to the original article which has more
info. You'll probably be gritting your teeth as you read it though. It's a
gaming news site called Daily Rader, which I'm assuming is run by
perpetually 'edgey' 24 year old males, even though the photo of the guy who

cover of the Fox re-release from last year. It's the reddish cover of PLANET
with a glowering chimp, the statue and Taylor on his knees.
http://www.moviepostershop.com/ carries them. Look under the movie poster
reproduction section.
Below is a report from Ain't it Cool News - I've pushed it further down the
page if you don't want spoilers. I think it comfirms the design style for
the film and makes those tents likely that they really are from the Apes
set. I think I'm going to back off on reading everything myself. Last year I
knew too much about The Phantom Menace for my taste, and I didn't read the
spoilers....
WARNING SPOILERS !WARNING SPOILERS !WARNING SPOILERS !WARNING SPOILERS
!WARNING SPOILERS Below VVVVVVVV ( that's an arrow pointing down )
PLANET OF THE APES set observations in Arizona
Hey folks, Harry here... ya know... other than LORD OF THE RINGS, the set
I'd most like to watching shooting on is PLANET OF THE APES... Can you
imagine watching folks in all that Rick Baker ape make-up? In Genghis Khan
style armor no less? Dear lord that has to be cool. Just chowing down in the
lunch tent... all the apes in make up.... eating their salads and fish...
The wise ass ape in the corner eating nothing but bananas... Ahhhh, you know
that would rule. What geek hasn't dreamed of being on a Rick Baker ape-ish
set since SCHLOCK or the Dino produced Kong? Sigh.... here ya go....
Signing in from scenic Northern Arizona, Lake Powell, where they're filming
some scenes for Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes. For an interesting tidbit,
Lake Powell is where most of the first 45 minutes of the original Apes movie
was filmed, and the set for this movie is about 5 miles east of where they
shot the scarecrow scenes in the original
Their set for the movie is located in an inlet in the main bay of the Lake,
where the major marina exists. You can see the set from the road that leads
into the marina and attached resort. Hell, with a good telephoto lens you
could probably get some nice pics of the set. It appears that most of their
shooting has been at night with fireballs and other assorted firey things
all about.
I've seen the apes up close and personal, and they are awe-inspiring. The
makeup is insanely realistic, and it's surreal to even see them walking about.
I've seen some of the production stuff, armor, tents, weapons, etc., and it
all seems to be inspired by Genghis Khan's aesthetic sense. All very
asiastic, with little monkey dragons on the armor.
I suppose that's about it, i'll try for some pics, but i don't know. I'll
definitely have stuff on Reitman's Evolution when it hits town.
Ta-ta for now.

There were only five of the 7" figures from Hasbro - the ones you have
listed above (there were two different gorilla soldiers). There were 7
figures in the 12" range. The Medicom figures beat them all by a mile.

saw the 12" figures that the 7" ones were a sure thing. I have noticed a
major reduction of all the action figures aisles recently ( and of course of
the product too) At least I have my poster. - Jeff

More liek a light year. Forget the fact that the detail is about 100
times better - check the lineup:
Taylor (loincloth)
Taylor (astro suit)
Nova
Cornelius
Zira
Zaius
Lucius
3 different soldiers (one from TV show)
Ursus
Urko (TV show)
Cornelius, Zira and Milo in astro suits
Caesar (slave clothes)
Slave chimp
Slave Gorilla
Caesar (Battle clothes)
Aldo
Lawgiver statue
I would have traded the TV figures for a couple mutants, or even
Dodge and Landon, but 21 figures?? Nice coverage. <.html

Hey, 21 figures (unless you buy multiple slaves, and as a real fan,
you should), that's only around $650.
Good God!

She's two waves EARLIER.
Next: Nova, Zira Astro adn Aldo (plus the suspiciously late Taylor

After that is Caesar, Caesar and slave chimps, along with Astro
Taylor.
Last is the Astro male chimps and Lawgiver statue. <.html

.htmlHi Apes and chimpettes - - -
Thought I'd chime in here:
NEWS: The Fox Interactive site says the "Apes" vid game is coming in Spring
2001. Though at first it seemed we'd get some stuff early (the game, a 2nd
set of cards) it looks like everything's going to be crammed into the middle
of next year. How do they expect us to pay for all this?!
INTERNET SCOOPS: There's certainly been some interesting stuff on the 'net,
but I take these scoops with a grain of salt. However it IS hard to come up
with an alternate explanation for those tents sprouting up in the desert.
But if these rumors are true it sounds like this movie will be alot of fun,
a nice balance of the old and the new. These days, if they want a "shock"
ending they're going to have to film it a week before the film opens.
SUCKEY SEQUELS: Personally, I liked the sequels and as a kid I was more
disappointed in subsequent sci-fi like "Star Wars", "Star Trek" movies and
"Alien" because, all though they had better budgets they weren't able to
blow my mind like "Apes", which had it where it counts: the scripts, the
plotting and the performances. As for the money, at that time Fox 's hands
because they were beholden to the banks for about $75 million dollars. The
success of "The Sound of Music" caused Fox, under the leadership of Mr.
Richard Zanuck, to back expensive musicals at a time when pop culture was
interested in something more progressive. The banks stipulated that no film
could cost more than $2.5 million (post 1970) and "Apes" got screwed by that
foolishness (including Arthur Jacobs' "Dr. Dolittle", which they thought
would be their cash cow and they merchandised it like crazy but it wasn't
popular; "Apes" wasn't merchandised until after Arthur's death). For anyone
interested in that era, I recommend Stephen Silverman's 1988 book "The Fox
That Got Away", which I'm currently reading.
BIRTHDAY: Thanks for the birthday wishes, Lynne!
"BENEATH": How would I have done "Beneath"? Well, I would have changed the
first half, which is a pale copy of the original. In retrospect I would have
given clues to Cornelius and Zira's activities that led to "Escape". If
they'd known there'd be more sequels they probably wouldn't have blown up
the world, though. And I would have postponed until Roddy was available.
RETROVISION: Eric Greene told me about that a couple of years ago. He wrote
the "Apes" article for it (for the 30th anniversary of both "Apes" and
"2001" and they even interviewed Roddy before his death). Perhaps it'll come
out next year, not only because of the new "Apes" but because it's 2001!
Hey, last week "The Hollywood Reporter " ranked movie directors according
to their bankability as picked by distributors and execs. Tim Burton was #5,
right behind Spielberg, Cameron, Lucas and Ron Howard. Burton was #13 the
last time they did this, in '98, so I guess his rise is due to "Sleepy
Hollow" and the "Apes" buzz.
End
of transmission.

50% aye? I'll have to think about that. I'll see if I
can dig up Cathy Lee's child laborers to help me cut production costs.
If not, how does a 10% discount for the holidays sound?

We just shipped a full statue to a guy in Japan, and he only spent

Thanks Brian.
That show did seem to be a lot of fun to do.
This was a tape that a POTA fan Kurt from Canada
sent me, It has a lot of neat footage on it. Heston Interviews, POTA
Commercial with Cornelius, NRA SPOOF, Rick Baker and The Video Game
promotion along with much more.
The NRA was a spoof created by Saturday Night Live
a while back, I also have the spot on the Donnie and Marie show.
I'll make a copy of this tape along with Donnie and
Marie and send it to Apemania for you guys to enjoy. I'll even through in my

Hope you enjoy it.

50% aye? I'll have to think about that. I'll see if I can
dig up Cathy Lee's child laborers to help me cut production costs. If
not, how does a 10% discount for the holidays sound?
I could spend about

$50 G's? I'm blushing!!!
Then I would just have
to figure how to get a life-size Lawgiver bust to Australia - charter a

Kidding. I can have our cargo company give me a quote on shipping a

Here's the Discovery Channel's schedule for other airings of the show,
in case everyone missed it. I understand that John Chambers is mentioned
in it. Personally, John has shared some great stories with me about
when he was involved with CIA "impossible missions" during the Carter administration.
Maybe this show talks about those events too. (I haven't seen it yet)
Enjoy.

Anyhow, on page 44 they have an article titled "Those Damn Dirty

haven't already heard. Then on page 103 they have a review of the

for the first issue, but I'm sure the POTA stuff will be in when they
update. Enjoy, everbody! Go Apes!!! John <.html

There they have POTA medicom figures, I'm waiting to get a hold of those

A chad is that little piece of paper that is punched when voting.
Ans so some are fully punched through with no chad left and some are still
on the balot and hagging by a lim.

Thanks Jim,
I'll have another CD out by the time of the new remake with tekno-rock type
music as well. The CD did come out quite amazing if I do say so myself, I
myself haven't got sick of listening to it yet.
There's just something adictive about it.
It came out pretty cool.

| Subject: CHAMBER'S TALENT: IMPOSSIBLE |
.htmlHi everyone . . . .
There was an issue of "Reader's Digest" a couple of years ago that had a
whole article about how John Chambers helped the U.S. government during the
Iranian hostage crisis in the late '70's. They did a cover story that they
were a movie company so they could get into Iran. I've got that issue
somewhere, I'll have to dig it up. When I interviewed Chambers I asked him
what he was proudest of and he said serving his country with these CIA
operations.
What did everyone think of those "Retrovision" transcripts?
TV show: I know there are 4 unproduced TV episode scripts floating
around, 2 by Rod Serling, all before the show got started. When I
interviewed Ron Harper he said they were cancelled before that "Up Above the
World So High" episode (about hang gliding). Then they got a reprieve and
did that episode. When I asked him why they didn't use that opportunity to
wrap up the show, since cancellation was imminent, he said they always clung
to the hope they would be picked up (Bill Blake tells me they were planning
to bring Gene Roddenbury in and restructure the show). So much had been
spent on the show and it had been so hyped up they couldn't believe they
were cancelled that quickly.
I saw all 3 of those Japanese tin wind up toys (Cornelius, Ursus, Soldier
Ape). They looked GREAT! Alas, they're $150 each, so Sianora.
Thanks for your attention,
Jeff Krueger

Movieheadlines.com says Emmanuel Lubezki is the "Apes" director of
photography; He did Burton's "Sleepy Hollow" among other things.
Movieheadlines again: Fox is going to adapt Leonardo Di Vinci's "Vitruvian
Man" as the basis for their "Apes" poster (it will be half man, half ape);
reminds me of the recent adaptation of the famed evolutionary scale for
various "Ape" purposes.
Harry Knowles, proprietor of "ain't it cool news", probably the most
infamous movie news website, put up a list of the many DVDs that he owns.
Among them are the "Apes" films. His ratings?. . . .
"PLANET": "essential"
"BENEATH": "wonderful sequel"
"ESCAPE":" great sequel"
" CONQUEST": "weakest"
"BATTLE": "weak"

|
.html Has anyone heard this band, Ape Has Killed Ape, from LA?
"This project contains members of Leather Hyman and W.A.C.O., along
with three theremins and sampled dialog from Planet Of The Apes
films. It is both a satire of rock music and a Swiftian essay on the
nature of power and control found in same. Actors from Planet Of the
Apes films frequently perform, in costume, with this group, who
manage to draw hundreds of people to each of their shows. The front
cover shows Leather Hyman drummer Matt Stein with his mother
(Mattricide -- get it?) and frying on LSD at school marching band
practice, age 14, on the back."
That has got to be bullshit about actors from the film performing.
Sounds interesting; I bought a copy from cdnow. <.html

.html Hi Dan,
I think this is the "percussion led" band that Jeff Krueger has
mentioned a few times on this very group.
The actors are Natalie Trundy and Bill Blake. (But I don't think
that's a regular thing)
If you go through old postings from "Jack Krueger" I'm sure you'll
find more info. Otherwise I'm sure Jeff will throw some light on this
subject this coming weekend (he only posts at the weekend)
Hope this helps,
Dave <.html

.htmlAmry Archerd's VARIETY column for today, November 28, 2000, included
this about the Apes remake:
Liberal and reactionary politics -- and monkey bizness: The
Senate, in Tim Burton's "Planet of the Apes" produced by
Richard Zanuck now boasts the addition of David Warner -- to
play an esteemed liberal member of the apes' Senate and
father of Helena Bonham Carter. They sympathize with the
plight of the oppressed humans -- two of whom are Mark
Wahlberg and Estella Warren. On the other side of the Senate
aisle is Tim Roth, the ape leader who considers humans as
animals, as does Michael Clarke Duncan. Warner reminds that
this is not the first time he has gone ape. In 1966 he
starred in the title role of "Morgan -- A Suitable Case for
Treatment" and in the final scene he donned a gorilla suit
to disrupt his ex-wife's wedding. Warner has high praise for
Rick Baker's extraordinary "Planet of the Apes" makeup --
even if he has to report at 3 a.m. Helena Bonham Carter's
makeup call is 2:30 a.m. That's really showbiz!

.html Thanks for the heads-up, Hunter. I've heard some buzz about Warner being
involved. It's nice to hear it confirmed. Although I'd prefer him as a
villian. But he always does a good job. John <.html

Anyone familiar with "ifilm.com" knows that they are the Weekly World News
of the internet. (It's all a joke folks)
At least they lifted a photo of Michele Juhlin as Dr. Zira from the
APEMANIA website, so they can't be all bad!

Well, that's good to hear, for a minute there I was
a bit worried.
A fan sent that link to me on the site, fan or
trouble maker anyway.
Yeah I did notice that picture of
Zira.
That was cool.

.html It must be a joke . . . Bob Barker? Why would they let him on the set?
Maybe he wanted some tail -- maybe get a little piece of ape. "Hey the price
is right, Bob! Come on down! " I can't get the image of the guards tazering
Chuck and throwing a net over him as he screams . . . "It's a whorehouse! A
WHOREHOUSE!" <.html
