Hey Alan,Check this out:

http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1409174704

It's got some pretty cool stuff on it. Quality could vary. I've got a copy of a
copy ( most probably of a copy. Wonder if Haslein has a theory on that one?) and
it's only just watchable. So if you go after it, ask questions first.
I also have an NTSC copy of the extended version of BATTLE, transferred from the
Japanese laser disc. Unfortunately, I don't have access to get it copied on NTSC
and to convert it to PAL would be pretty poor quality. The copy of the above
mentioned tape I have also includes just the extended bits from Battle. Again,
poor quality.
Best,
KEN

Yeah, that is a good tape as far as footage but as far as the quality your right it is best to ask first. I have all of that in very poor quality. So bad in fact that if I were to make a copy of it. It wouldn't be a copy, just a great big blur.

Now that's sad.

I would imagine that a high profile movie such as this will see an
"official" release of the script for sale. Do any of you guys
have/remember the "T2" script with all those hundreds of small
scene-by-scene pix?

I wonder if there will be a novelization?

Wouldn't it be great if they open the movie with the message
"Dedicated to Arthur and Roddy" More likely it'll be dedicated to
Burton's Chi-wa-wa though (yeah I know that's spelt wrong)

I see on the Fox site August 9th is now the official release (cue
Alex slapping his forehead!) Last I read the UK won't see it till
Sept, so c'mon guys... no letting the "Shock ending" out of the bag.

I think the dude downloaded the wrong link.

I went to his site and found a picture entitled ape wars:

http://www.timmurley.com/image.asp?PID=198&GID=22

and another entitled Planet of the Apes (which I believe is what the guy is
actually selling).

http://www.timmurley.com/image.asp?PID=227&GID=25

Some of the images are actually recognisable, while still kinda crap.

Then go to:

http://www.timmurley.com/gallery.asp?GID=23

You will find some quite acceptable pics of "Nightmare before Xmas" and then
scroll down a bit for "Behold the Nightmare" as being auctioned on eBay -
probably should have something to do with "Nightmare before Xmas" but still
very unrecognisable.

Well that was a lot of energy for nothing.............

He should be auctioning the shit he's taking....noe THAT I would pay good
money for!

I think that's the Aussie release date - now I'm saving up to come see the
opening in the US then off to Memphis. I'll be driving in a 65 Pontiac
Grand Prix (with some rust damage from driving thousands of miles through
the ocean) and sleeping on the back seat in my official Planet of the Apes
bean bag. I may knock on you door so stock up the fridge. You coming Ken?
I know you have a sleeping bag too......

.html WOW!  I know ape-fans are harsh, but you guys are BRUTAL!!!  Did anyone ever stop to think that maybe this Tim Murley artist is "handicapped"?  Alot of mentally disabled people have artistic ability.  Although the subjects are barely recognizable, this guy's work does show an understanding of composition and color.  Maybe he has downs syndrome or something, but his work does display a fundamental comprehension of art theory, albeit a bit too abstract for my tastes.

So the poor guy posted a piece on eBay to jump on the band-wagon.  Big deal.  We've all seen worse.  I just think you folks are being a bit too hard on the guy.   Okay, so he's just experimenting with this "child art" theme during this phase of his artistic growth.   Maybe next time he'll try photo-realism.  At least he's DOING something with his skills!  And he's included POTA's as a theme!  For that we should all be grateful that he's helping to keep the Apes alive.

There, I've said my piece.

Brian

PS:  Of course I could be wrong.  These painting could be the work of that elephant at the Phoenix Zoo!

    Hi Loc,
Say Loc if you do burn them on CD send me a copy. I have all four record books as well but I'm having the same problem as you (can't seem to copy them on CD). I want to put it on-line as an on-line comic with storyboard and audios on Real Player. Having all pages thumbnailed so when you click on the page the larger scale page appears and the real audio clip for that page kicks in.

Something I had in mind for a long time but I'm having the same record player problem. I have none.

    Warrior/Hollow Man

and I have a compliation disc of cues from several more films, and I wish I
had much more and will be getting more.

There is good, not so good, and great Goldsmith.   POTA fans should try to
find the CD of "The Mephisto Waltz" (1971).   It's very POTAish, you'll even
hear bits of the "POTA theme" and it's even scarier than "The Omen."

I think Goldsmith's scores from the Sixties up to the late Seventies are the
best.  "The Blue Max," "Hour of the Gun," "Planet of the Apes," "Patton,"
"Papillon," "Chinatown," "The Wind and the Lion,"
and "The Omen" are 'must haves.'   If anyone disagrees, please say so.  I
can't think of a bad Goldsmith score, though he's done scores for MANY bad
movies.  "Poltergist" is also a great score.

A good place to go to start a Goldsmith collection is www.filmscoremonthly.com

They release a score a month on CD and their latest is his score to Franklin
Schaffner's first film "The Stripper."   They are also selling Leonard
Rosenman's score to "Beneath the Planet of the Apes" on CD  AUTOGRAPHED by
    the composer.  Check it out.

Actually, even many of the cheaper DVD players ($150-$250, American),
    ARE multi-region players!

Here, in the United States, we still get stuck with the problem of what
a PAL, British region DVD disc will look like on a standard United
States TV (I've heard three different reports: just slight loss of
visual quality, black and white picture, no picture...!).

But, in Australia. if you have PAL-capable television sets, you should

WOW!

These painting could be the work of that elephant at the Phoenix Zoo!

and another entitled Planet of the Apes (which I believe is what the guy is

Some of the images are actually recognisable, while still kinda crap.

    Then go to:

    http://www.timmurley.com/gallery.asp?GID=23

You will find some quite acceptable pics of "Nightmare before Xmas" and then
scroll down a bit for "Behold the Nightmare" as being auctioned on eBay -
probably should have something to do with "Nightmare before Xmas" but still
    very unrecognisable.

Well that was a lot of energy for nothing.............

He should be auctioning the shit he's taking....noe THAT I would pay good

The reference is a little over an hour into the movie, and it is as follows:

I had tried everything to win over my beloved Erica, but nothing had
worked. Nothing was going to work. All it had done was strand me
in the "friend zone" like Charlton Heston being marooned in the Planet

I think he'd better have a handicap. It wasn't the art that got me. It was
that he was starting the bidding at 39 bucks. For me it's like French New
Wave Cinema or Italian Neo-Realism or German Expressionist Film. Some film
students may feel that that sort of thing is high art! But for me, with few
exceptions, you may as well wipe your ass with canvas and call it art. As
someone once said, what is one man's artistic choice is another excuse for
artistic laziness. And I agree with him Goddard's Breathless was a piece of
shit. And I had to sit through that stinkbuger twice! Now if Koko the

    THANKS

    1. When did you first see any of the Planet of the Apes films or TV
    programmes? On television.

Which one did you see first? Beneath the Planet of the Apes

Where? CBS Friday Night Movie, will never forget it!

How old were you? Hard to remember, so I would say between 7 and 8. It was the first time shown on television

What was your reaction? Just watching the previews as were all CBS friday night moive intros were awesome, I was jumping up and down like an Ape! My dad almost had to take off his belt to quite me down, but it never got that far. But that's how excited I was.

How do you feel it compared with other films you saw around
the same time? Golden Voyage of Sinbad never came close! Apes was the best I've seen by far.

What do you remember now about that "first time"?
The color, Underground and Mendez colors were so rich! Perhaps it was because the first time, but I never saw Beneath the same way again. Until DVD came around, the best quality picture ever!

    2. How did your interest in Planet of the Apes develop over the years?
Not very well because of the fact that apes didn't continue beyond the '70s, so now with the remake that excitment will rise again, truth is, it already has! During the '70s '80s and '90s I've only had my comics and movies to carry me threw. At the moment I have all comics to the original films, DVD, video tape widescreen and t.v. format, t.v and cartoon series.

How many times have you seen the films? WOW! I lost count!
But I will tell you that I know all 5 films word for word. Hows that?

Do you collect memorabilia? Very little. Movies are my thing. Comics and action figures. Medicoms now thanks too the group. Great advise to buy.

What are your most valuable items, your most unusual items and your
favourites? Again the moives above all, sorry.

Have you been to conventions or met the stars or anything like
that? I met Chalton Heston at Disney's MGM Studios, cool guy!

What do your friends think of your interest/passion/obsession?
They think I'm an ape nut! :o)

    3. Why do you think Planet of the Apes remains so popular?
A film that deals with many issues we deal with even today as Eric Greene put it quite well.
On top of it being a fantastic film/s
And of course there's the fans, the number one factor.

PLEASE STATE YOUR NAME AND ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS !THANKSHi I'm Brian Penikas, Keeper of the Glue and Faith for APEMANIA.COM

     1. When did you first see any of the Planet of the Apes films or TV
    programmes?
I caught the first POTA film on Black and White TV when I was in Elementary School (5th or 6th grade?) sometime before BATTLE was released.

Which one did you see first?
    POTA

    Where?
on Black and White TV in my bedroom

    How old were you?
    Yikes!!  10? 11?

    What was
    your reaction?
I remember being completely caught off guard by the end of the first film.  Nearly choked on my pbj when I realized Taylor had been on earth the whole time!  The whole "cold-war" fear was still a very real everyday thing in those days.

How do you feel it compared with other films you saw around
    the same time?
It certainly left an impact on me!  Between seeing POTA on tv, Battle being released in theatres, and the tv series starting up, my friends and I were all set to start building our own ape army.  And HEY!!!  WE DID!!!

What do you remember now about that "first time"?
I remember when the ads for CONQUEST were on the radio when I was in the 4th grade, and they SCARED ME!!!  (I was such a woosie then!)

    2. How did your interest in Planet of the Apes develop over the years?
It was the deciding influence for me to pursue make-up and effects as a career.  Burt Lancaster's Moreau and Star Wars set that goal in stone (or plaster, depending on how you look at it).

    How
many times have you seen the films?
Consciously?  I've only seen POTA once on the big screen, and believe it or not, that was at the 30th Anniversary Party at the Motion Picture Academy when we were escorts for Roddy McDowall, Kim Hunter, and Charlton Heston.

Videos? I've worn out several dozen of them in years gone by.

Do you collect memorabilia? If so, what?
Photos and original ape movie props and wardrobe items.

What are your most valuable items, your most unusual items and your
    favourites?
Most personal item in my collection?  The thing that stands out from all the goodies most is a bottle of wine given to John Chambers by Roddy (with a wonderful "my hero" inscription) at John's 75th b-day party.  John gave it to me a while back in appreciation for all Apemania has done for him.

Have you been to conventions or met the stars or anything like
    that?
    Ehh...you might say so.

What do your friends think of your interest/passion/obsession?
Most want to know when they can join up or how to be a part of it.

    3. Why do you think Planet of the Apes remains so popular?
Primates are genuinely fascinating creatures, being so closely related to humans.  They are "familiar".   It's a known fact in publishing, that if you put a photo of an ape on the cover of your publication, your sales are almost guaranteed to increase 30%.  Just plain old human interest.  People love apes.

    Yessirie!
    Another tip . . . Just as Clrt C is copy . . . Ctrl X is cut.
So if you want to remove something completely,
and maybe paste it elsewhere it's mighty handy!
Explore the Edit functions at the top of the page for more shortcuts.
I just noticed Ctrl = is a shortcut to spell check. I just used it for this
    e-mail.
    I gotta remember that one.

    1. I'm surprised no one commented on the "Vanity Fair" pics. I found the
mag (March 2001) on Feb. 8 and there they were. Good pictures. What I found
interesting was how much they look like the original costumes. The gorillas
have sleeveless vests, the chimps have the knitted material underneath, but
it all looks dark and Burtoney. Cute to see Burton with his dog Poppy (star
of "Mars Attacks"). Also, it was funny to see that babe Estelle Warren all
by her lonesome while Wahlberg was making time with the chimp.
Not so amusing were Zanuck's quotes: " We don't have any lofty
philosophical questions to answerwith this picture. It's today's filmmaking
approach. The equipment is better, every thing is better and bigger and
costlier". That's a perfect summation of why movies suck now and Zanuck is
wearing it like a badge of honor. I was really pissed off when I heard that.
But, even though this seems to be an exclusive, the caption writer got in a
nice jab, comparing the original to the classic "Grand Illusion" and the new
one (as described by Zanuck) to "Armageddon" ("Armageddumb"). I'll continue
to look forward to the movie. Burton puts too much of himself into his
movies to make a brain dead "Armageddon". If it's as Zanuck says then I
won't support it. But what really bothered me was that Zanuck seemed to
knocking the original because it was thoughtful. Well, LIVE with it, Zanuck.
If you just want to do a big action picture than remake something ELSE! If
you sift out the social conerns because the youngin' s find thinking to be a
downer, you're going to get nailed. You'll make your fuckin' bucks but
you'll also disappoint. I at least trust Burton to understand what made that
series memorable long after special effects and budgets outdid it. In the
"Apes" documentary Zanuck also seemed to be clueless about the social
commentary in the original, so what, me worry? Just keep track of the
budget, Zanuck. Leave the moviemaking to someone with a soul.

    2. Screw it, now I'm pissed. I'll get back to you guys.

    2. Today is the start of "Toy Fair" in New York (through Thusday). What
does that mean to you? Well, you'll finally get to see the hot new "Harry
Potter" and "Josey and the Pussycats" collectibles you've been waiting for.
Oh, and also the ones for that "Ape" thing, what's it called? For those who
want to keep tabs on the event, I'd recommend www.tomart.com or some like
toy web site. Theyusually have good pics the dayafter a particular event
(they unveil certain lines on certain days.

    3. Someone brought up "Phantom Menace" and how "Star Wars" fans were left in
the lurch (not unlike "Addams Family" fans) in favor of the kiddies. IN an
article in last Friday's "Hollywood Reorter" a Fox rep said they are
planning a "dual-prong" approach with "Apes", hoping to satisfy both kids
and adult collectors. Burton also said he wanted to respect the original,
unlike certain PRODUCERS (see Comment #1 below).

    4. Topps is doing the "Apes" cards so I guess we can kiss off that 2nd set
of Inkworks collectors cards. I'm dissappointed that Fox seems to be going
for the biggest companies instead of (in my opinion) the best : Hasbro over
McFarland (McFarland himself is an acknowledged "Apes" fan and has done well
with recent Burton properties); Topps over Inkworks (who earned the right
with that previous set, when noone else wanted to do "Apes").

    5. It's been reported that Fox has spent around $140 million to upgrade it's

    6. Bill Blake says his former partner Paula Crist sneaked over to Malibu
Canyon and took part of the Icarus (I think the door) late at night when it
was being used for a TV show or something.

    7. Let us not forget that during the entire run of the original "Apes" films
in theatres, there was no merchandise lines, just a set of trading cards and
    a "Beneath" comic.

    8. Questionaire? Who wants to know?

    9. 'Lost Episodes": There are four unfilmed scripts for the TV show making
the rounds but there are no filmed episodes that were never broadcast.

    10. Power Records: On the "Ape Has Killed Ape" CD "Mattricide", Matt uses
Power Record samples, including a chant of "Ursus, lead us, Ursus lead us. .
. " and end of the records repeatedly ("At the tone, please turn the record
over...ding!"). Matt likes to play on these 70's childhood trappings. He did
a song called "Kung-Fu Grip" . At the concerts, he put xeroxed pages from
the "Apes" coloring books on the tables (with crayons). Can you imagine?
While the band played, people actually doodled on these , drank beer,
    cheered. Quite a show.

    11. Goldsmith/Elfman: I met Jerry Goldsmith when Matt Stein (of "Ape Has
Killed Ape") and I went to a tribute of his TV work at the Museum of
Television and Radio in Los Angeles. He was very excited about his upcoming
concerts (I think this was in '99), a new endeavor for him that he enjoys.
He said his dream project is to do a "Star Trek" opera (??!) and that
Franklin Schaffner was the director he was most simpatico with (he did
most - or all?- of Schaffner's films plus TV work together). I like Danny
Elfman's work and, well, Tim Burton is the director HE"S most simpatico
with. Elfman got his big break on Burton's "Pee Wee's Big Adventure" and
he's done all of Burton's films except "Ed Wood" (including writing the
songs and singing for Jack Skellington in "Nightmare Before X-Mas"). Elfman
has 2 albums out that sample his wide-ranging film work (including the theme
    to "The Simpsons"). Whew!

    12. The Script: Don't sweat it. Those things get xeroxed like crazy when
they get out. It'll breed like rabbits (the new script).

    NAME: JEFF KRUEGER

1.WHEN FIRST SEEN? I saw "Escape" probably on it's broadcast premiere in '74, followed soon after (it seemed) by the original run of the series.

WHERE? On the TV; my babysitter turned it on.

    HOW OLD? I guess I was 9.

REACTION? I'd seen a TV commercial for the theatrical release of "Battle" so I recognized the makeup. I came in as they were towing the spaceship and got very excited when they took off the helmets. Engrossed in "Escape" but missed the ending; angry at that, but intrigued by how I was told it ended.

COMPARED TO OTHER FILMS OF THE TIME? It was unlike anything I'd remembered being exposed to. It didn't have a happy ending (so I was told). It looked realistic yet looked fantastic (it certainly wasn't "H.R. Pufinstuff"). I don't remember how much I knew about prejudice and other themes, but I'm sure I got whatever I could get. I guess this was my step up to more adult films.

WHAT's REMEMBERED? I'll always remember it was my babysitter who introduced me to it. When the series started we saw several episodes together when the folks went out on Fridays. I was reunited with him last year and had him sign my copy of Eric Greene's book. It's signed by Roddy, Kim Hunter, John Chambers, many others, including Jane Goodall. But it felt just as good to have his signature in it.

    2. DEVELOPMENT OF INTEREST? Big fan in '74, then modest interest until around '88. Then it just kept growing and growing. From the new comics in '90, to the fan club in '92, to my fave Oliver Stone kicking the movie into high gear in '93, on and on until today it's even in "Vanity Fair". What more could you ask?

AMOUNT OF VIEWINGS? I saw "Planet" in a theatre 4 times in the '90's (including the 30th Anniversary thing) once in 2000 (Heston's screening at the Egyptian); "Beneath" and Escape" each once in a theatre. On TV and video, innumerable. With DVD I can watch my favorite scenes in no time.

DO YOU COLLECT? Yes, everything's gone from childhood, but I slowly built it back up. I don't pay high prices for old stuff, mostly I concentrate on the new. But I have a weakness for action figures so I have a nice collection of loose "Apes" Megos  (2 of them adorned John Chambers birthday cake). Old stuff, mostly books, magazines and, yes, the Power Records.

MOST VALUABLE? I don't know. I bought the copied blueprint set from QVC in '94 which no one else seems to have. I don't have much of value 'cuz I got it in the last 10 years and I don't pay big, nor do I scour the world for things.

MOST UNUSUAL? My inflatable Zira. No, I don't know. I guess the personal stuff I've gotten. Christmas cards from Buck Kartalian, a stuffed ape from Natalie Trundy for Christmas, Natalie's old Motion Picture Academy cards?

FAVORITES? Definitely the copy of Eric Greene's book I received in '96, which has been getting signed ever since. Actors, comic artists, primatologists, babysitters, quite a lineup.

BEEN TO CONVENTIONS? MET STARS? Don't ask.

WHAT DO FRIENDS THINK? Well, I have alot of friends who are fans too. The ones who aren't I don't bring it up (but Natalie Trundy and Booth Colman think it's weird).

    3. WHY STILL POPULAR? It's a unique concept and gives people food for thought. That sets it apart from most pop culture, which is about conformity and protecting the brain from too much exertion.

    THANKS!

PLEASE STATE YOUR NAME AND ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS !
    THANKS

    Best,

    Alex

It was Planet and I saw it at a downtown Dallas theater when it first came

During 2001 I didn't care. As it turns out the scenes I was nodding on were

Like a snowball, into an avalanche. More than I can count. Yes I collect.
The items that cost the most were a batch of flawed appliences I won from
Brian on eBay. I was going to touch them up and recast them. But my sense
of fairplay coupled with Apemania's licensing agreement with Fox changed all
that. The think it's wacky, but most of the things I'm into are anyway.

Aside from the fascinating story and and great ending nothing beats people
made up as apes that talk! What could be better than that? I actually saw a
chimp talk once at the Hogle Zoo. Sure she only said a couple words and had
to hold her nose to do it. But it brought the house down!

WATCHED THE FIRST MOVIE ABOUT 3 TIMES (COUNTING WHEN I FIRST SAW THEM AND
TWICE SINCE I GOT THE DVDS.) I HAVE NOT WATCHED THEM MORE THAN THAT BECAUSE I
RARELY WATCH TELEVISION BUT I'M SURE I WILL WATCH THEM DOZENS OF TIMES MORE.
I HAVE STARTED AN APES COLLECTION. SO FAR I HAVE THE 6IN FIGURES AND 3 12IN.
THEY ARE FROM THE HASBRO SERIES. I WOULD LOVE THE MEDICOMS BUT CAN'T AFFORD
THEM. I HAVE AN ALMOST COMPLETE SET OF POTA COMICS (I'M MISSING ISSUE 6 AND
WON IT OFF EBAY AND WILL BE HERE SOON.) WHEN I GET THAT LAST ISSUE I WILL
READ THEM STRAIGHT THROUGH. I ALSO HAVE THE SET OF ALL THE APES TV SHOWS AND
CARTOONS BUT HAVE ONLY WATCHED THE FIRST TV EPISODE. LIKE I SAID I DON'T
WATCH TV. I COLLECT AUTOGRAPHS AND HAVE BEEN COLLECTING FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS
NOW. I HAVE AUTOGRAPHS FROM JAMES GREGORY, CHARLTON HESTON, AND KIM HUNTER
ALL ON APES PICTURES. MY KIM HUNTER AUTOGRAPHS ARE MY MOST PRIZED IN MY
COLLECTION. I REALLY HOPE THE THREE OF THEM AND LINDA HARRISON DO AN
AUTOGRAPH SHOW HERE IN TEXAS SINCE I GO TO ABOUT 4 OR MORE AUTOGRAPH SHOWS A
YEAR. THEY HAVE ABOUT ONE A MONTH BUT NO APES STARS HAVE BEEN THERE SINCE I
HAVE BEEN GOING. MY FRIENDS THINK I'M AN APES NUT! THEY ARE ALWAYS TELLING ME
THAT MY GIRLFRIEND IS DR. ZIRA! I LOVE IT!

    3. Why do you think Planet of the Apes remains so popular?
I THINK APES IS SO POPULAR BECAUSE IS DEALS WITH SO MANY ISSUES. SCIENCE,
PHILOSOPHY, RELIGION, POLITICS, ETC. I MAY HAVE GOTTEN INTO APES LATER THAN
MOST PEOPLE BUT WITH THE NEW MOVIE ABOUT TO COME OUT I FEEL I GOT IN AT THE
RIGHT TIME. PEOPLE ARE GOING TO GO NUTS FOR THE NEW MOVIE AND TONS OF NEW
MERCHANDISE WILL BE AVAILABLE. I CAN'T WAIT!

Feel free to pass this email onto anyone else you think might be interesting
in sharing their feelings. The only thing is that I would need their
    responses by 20 February.

    THANKS

    .html
Head's up! Another "Apes" related article to watch out for. The magazine
"Comics Journal" had an epic 60 pg. interview with Tom Sutton. Remember in
Marvel's "Apes" magazine the feature called "Future History Chronicles". Tom
Sutton drew those, He also drew the mag's flagship series "Terror on the
    POTA" in issues 19, 20 & 23. I didn't even know about the magazines as a
kid, but as an adult I wondered, "Who is this maniac who draws such lavish
comic books?" I know alot of people have a soft spot for Mike Ploog, but Tom
Sutton is my favorite "Apes" illustrator, and "Chronicles" is my favorite
"Apes" comic (along with another unique one, Adventure's "Urchak's Folly".
"Chronicles" got in alot of trouble with fans because it's so out there,
taking place in a world of city-ships. Someone here said it looks alot like
what we've seen of Burton's movie and I see a resemblance. Burton has said
he was never much of a comics reader, but perhaps he used to read Marvel's
magazine, which isn't really a comic book, it's a "monster magazine" (Burton
has said "Apes" was an influence on him). Perhaps Sutton's work stuck in his
blender of a brain. Sutton also used to do alot of gothic horror comics and,
of course, gothic horror is a mainstay of Burton's work.

The article only devotes about 2 pages to Sutton's "Apes" work but
highlights it as one of his best. It seemed unique because it was unique.
Sutton and writer Doug Moench really went all out on it. Explains Sutton:
"Doug had figured this whole goddamn thing out - everything! It was like he
was writing a novel or something. And he was not very happy when they
decided, after three, four, five issues, whatever there were , that they
just aborted the thing." (Sutton says they had planned 8 parts; only 5 were
published). As for himself, " I didn't have to deal with costumed
superheroes and I didn't have to deal with a lot of other things I didn't
like. These (characters) I really did like. They were relevant. They were
almost different folks getting together, trying to get along within a highly
    confined situation like a city."
He says he went way beyond the monetary considerations because "I think I
would have done almost anything. I wanted that book to work. There are things
that you want to work, for your own reasons , whatever they are...I would
make enormous drawings. These things were twice the size, easily twice the
size. And I'd make these very, very tight drawings, which I hardly ever
    did".

    "Future History Chronicles" appear in Marvel # 12, 15, 17 , 24 & 29. The
interview is in "Comics Journal" #230 (Feb. 2001); Two covers are available,
    both by Sutton.

Photos, posters, models and medicos, even had the game and the trash can,
as well as a mug when they first came out. Now I've got my eye on ape
    make-up and wardrobe.

Aside from the apoclyptic theme and talking apes looking so cool, I think
it's the theme of folks putting everything on the line to help someone else,
    be they human or ape.

With the exception of Beneath. Sure Zira and Cornelius helped Brent and
Nova, but then Taylor catches one, he's back in misanthrope mode. "If I'm
going . . . I'm taking the lot of you with me!!!" I understand it was just
Heston's way of killing off the series . . . little did he know. The Power
of the Planet of the Apes!!!!!

Last I heard they were down to about six or seven signed copies, so if you
want one, you'd better be quick (if they're not gone already).

I also see that one of their forthcoming releases is a 70s sci-fi
    double-header. We can but hope...

(Actually there's a few old sci-fi films of that period that could do with a
release, not just Apes films, so I'm really looking forward to finding out
    what it is)

    Fair ennough . . . Here we go again . . .
<< PS: What does "LordTZer0" stand for anyhow? >>
    Thanks for asking Brian.
    That's a bit of a long story, but since you asked . . .

As you may remember from my bio, I used to play in a punk bank called The
Caffiends. We all had caff names, such as Count Caffula, Prince of Dark
Roast or Captain Jolt, the Lightning Bolt, etc...for those who remember Jolt
Cola. "All the sugar and twice the caffeine!" (If you want a supercharged
Rum and coke make it with 151 and Jolt!) Anyway, I was Lord T Bag The
Destroyer. Since the demise of that group I had gone back to my old name T
Zero. Everyone calls me T, since it's the initial of my first name, which I
don't particularly care for. Why zero? Well, it sounds cool, and T Zero,
which aside from being a time designation of an exact moment in time, such as
the end of a count down, for dropping H-bombs or launching space craft.
Webster's says Zero is the origin of any measurement. And the intermediate
between positive and negative values. It's also the title for a road movie
to be shot in black & white that Jim Morrison never made. Since someone else
had the screen name T Zero I kept my honorary title from the band of Lord.
And since someone else had that too I spelled Zero with a zero instead of an
oh. Or was it visa versa? There you have it Lord T Zer0!

I respect Zanuck. He's produced good movies and has a good instinct.
Literally, if he hadn't gotten behind the original "Apes" no one else
would've. But why did he have to say those things, even if it's true? But he
obviously didn't even get what the original was saying so hopefully there'll
be stuff in the new one that goes over his head, too.

Or maybe he said that just to entice the kiddies, that they won't have to
think too hard. We won't know 'til the movie.

"Do The Right Thing" has a scene where Danny Aiello is talking to John
Turturro about the neighborhood. Turturro says that it is becoming "Planet of
the Apes" "Free Enterprise" has several POTA references. The two I remember
are when one of the characters is talking about his Japanese POTA Laser discs
& the debate about who is the sexiest woman in sci-fi, with the lead
character declaring it to be Nova. The other films, I'm not to sure about.
    Hope this is useful. John

"Colossus: The Forbin Project" starring this guy named Eric Braeden has a
score I'd love to hear put on CD.

Did anyone here get the CD of "The Omega Man"? It was strange at first but
now I love that score. Never paid much attention to it in the film before.

I'll bet as the new APES film gets closer, there will be an offical release
of the scores to ESCAPE, CONQUEST and BATTLE.

It might but I would keep an eye out for all episodes this week and monday. Because if Access Hollywood posted it on the site for this monday, no doubt they didn't because they don't have the trialer yet, thinking they would in time.

So now you have an apes "first look" that is over due, and therefore you now have an episode that could appear at any moment without notice.

    So keep your eyes open.

    Best,

I like a little think with my entertainment, as long as they don't beat me

    Terry -

Hi! I was wondering if you or some other dealer you know would be interested in picking up an entire lot of original one-of-a-kind set photos from the set of BENEATH THE PLANET OF THE APES. These are actually original color slides taken by the set photographer at the time. He took a few hundred photos and 20th Century Fox only selected the ones they wanted. He kept the rest and ended up selling them to a memorabilia store in NY. They sat in the back room for years until the store owner contacted me and offered them as a lot of 250 slides. The colour and condition on these photos is near perfect. Actually, most are like new. They are absolutely one of a kind photos. No duplicates were made for any of these. There are no negatives for slides but they can be used to make beautiful blow ups. Most are behind the scenes and many are what would be called publicity shots. Several are variations on what ended up being the lobby card photos. There is even a photo of the girl who played Linda Harrison's double in the scene where James Fransiscus tries to drown her in a fountain. That is a photo you won't find anywhere. In fact many of these are of things never before seen and all of them are unpublished. I took a few of them to three trade shows last year and ended up selling 4 of them at no less than $25 each. I did not have them on display either. They were in a binder under my table and I only pulled them out if some collector asked for something unique from PLANET OF THE APES. I have never sold any of these on eBay nor have I ever seen these offered anywhere. My asking price for the entire lot of 250 is $2250.  I would rather sell these to a dealer as a lot only. Buying the entire lot means that there won't be other dealers out there selling these at competitive prices. I can send you a very convincing sample if you like. I already offered these to a guy at KLAATU COLLECTIBLES but my asking price was higher and he could not afford it at the time. With the upcoming release of Tim Burton's PLANET OF THE APES in July, 2001 is definitely going to be "The Year Of The Apes" which will translate into higher sales of apes related items I'm sure. Let me know soon if this interests you or anyone else you know. Cheers!
