Okay guys I've just taken a 16 meg trailer of Lord of the Rings and smashed it down to only 1 MEG :o)

This is just a sample as to what too expect once the Ape exclusive come rollin in from the media coverages.
The file is in Real Player Format 320X240 STEREO, so for those who don't want to spend forever and a day to download a trailer. Here's a sneak peek of things to come.

LORD of the RINGS!

Oh, the next POTA poster comes out following President's Day so you can best believe that the trailer will be released as well.
Hopefuly....again.

Best,

Alex

p.s. If you don't have real player, download the beta version from the real player web site, it's free at: www.realplayer.com
Just follow the free banners on the site.
And for those who have it already, enjoy the Lord of the Rings.

Great work Alex, It took me just three minutes to download and works
fine. I tried to download the "official" version the other day on a
system connected via 128 ISDN... Took over 18 minutes and was still
badly corrupted!

Pretty cool, pretty neat...
But I don't see why there trailer's out first if they're not going to release
it until Christmas. I guess they've been working on that one for so long
they better have something to show the shareholders. I hope we get our
teaser by Pres. Day!

taken it said from the international toy festival. Anyway, I don't know if
you guys have seen these pics yet but here's the links.

.htmlYeah, but I really think this trailer will be out next week, and if I don't
see something before "Monkeybone" next weekend I'll be surprised.  But you do
know that because the new POTA is still filming, the only thing we're going
to get now is a teaser.  I think they showed it at the Toy Fair in New York.
Anyway, I can wait another week, hell July will be here before you know it.
In fact, it's been 33 years since I saw the original and THAT seems like
yesterday (well, maybe a few days before yesterday).

PS:  Here's how we spent our Saturday here at APEMANIA central (see fotos).  We shot a "how-to -do" Cornelius make-up video today, and then went out to goof around in Central City with our friend.  It's a Cornelius not a Caesar make-up, but we threw the guy into a CONQUEST suit anyway because the location was convenient and conveniently themed.

We both have way too much time on our hands, don't you think?

      Great idea Brian!

Hi, I'm Lynne Miller.  I've been an Apes fan for as long as I can remember. I'm in my 30's, divorced and mother to an 18 year old (and still here to speak about it!!LOL).  When I'm not scanning for Roddy movies, I enjoy writing and drawing and costuming and going to conventions.  Now that the teen is out of the house, I'm looking forward to enjoying these things again!!!!

Thanks Brian, just placed it in the Spoofs section with a link to your Medicom Page. Also improved the video with Taylor's Quote at the End. "You Got what you wanted Tiger, now how does it taste".

An Idea from one of Rory's posts. Cool.

P.S:  Here's how we spent our Saturday here at APEMANIA central (see fotos).  We shot a "how-to -do" Cornelius make-up video today, and then went out to goof around in Central City with our friend.  It's a Cornelius not a Caesar make-up, but we threw the guy into a CONQUEST suit anyway because the location was convenient and conveniently themed.

Excellent, I hope you post it on the site soon.

We both have way too much time on our hands, don't you think?

      Not married, no kids.

Oh Yeah. I'd say so! :o)

      Best,

      Alex

I *do* remember these!  I had all of them, but lost them to a flood in the basement.  I do believe that they also have an album of all of these compiled together, and I think that I still have that one, but it is in storage in MI.  I should be bringing all that down around the first of June and I'll let the list know.

        >your reaction? How do you feel it compared with other films you saw around
        >the same time? What do you remember now about that "first time"?
        >I saw Escape first, on network TV, then I went and saw Planet at a private screening, uncut.  I was 13 years old when I first saw Escape.  I loved it all, but hated the darker half of it, still do to this day.  I was totally transfixed by it at the time.

        >2. How did your interest in Planet of the Apes develop over the years? How>many times have you seen the films? Do you collect memorabilia? If so, what?

My POTA interest has grown over the years.  I have seen the films too many times to count, and I didn't count them.  I collect any memorabilia I can get my hands on and my budget around!

        >What are your most valuable items, your most unusual items and your
        >favourites? Have you been to conventions or met the stars or anything like
        >that? What do your friends think of your interest/passion/obsession?

        >All of my POTA stuff is valuable to me as I lost most to all of my original collection to a flood in my parent's basement.  I go to conventions, but have never met anyone from POTA.  At one point I really wanted to do an all POTA related convention, but when Roddy passed, the interest waned as I really wanted to meet him the most.  My other Sci-fi fans *tolerate* my interest in POTA.  I have many Sci-fi friends, but thought I was the only POTA one out there!

        >3. Why do you think Planet of the Apes remains so popular?

        > Because the basic theme never grows old.  Man is always wondering 'who will take over' and the Apes theme took that to an extreme that continues to tantalize.

I don't know what this means for us in the states, but if you go to
Foxmovies.com, click on the box at the bottom that says 'international,' then
click on the Fox site for the UK, www.fox.co.uk
(or just go there directly), the first thing that will happen is a box will
come up asking you if you want to register to be one of the first
people to visit the 'Planet of the Apes' site and see the trailer.

I'm curious as to why the US site isn't doing the same?  Anyway, I
        registered.  What the hell.

All POTA fans can order this promotional "comic" from me. I am getting
copies directly from the distributor. So everybody can get them from me in
case you can't find them locally cause this book is going to have a very
small print run and limited supply. Many comic shops will not even bother
        ordering it at all.

scheduled for release this summer. Hasbro will release just four items:

          3 3/4 inch Planet of the Apes Asst. 1 (Item# 52120A, $99.99)
          http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=52120A
This case of 8 "fighting" action figures will include: 2x Leo, 1x Daena, 3x
Attar, 1x Limbo, and 1x Ari. (Subject to change.)

This set includes three highly detailed, well articulated 12inch action
figures, designed with collectors in mind, not children. 3-Pack of

          http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=52105
Attar is the film's main villain, and Hasbro has created this action figure
to celebrate this long awaited continuation of "The Planet of the Apes"
saga. This action figure features extreme articulation, electronic lights
and sounds from the movie! (Subject to change.)

          Thade with Battle Steed (Item# 52125, $25.99)
          http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=52125
Thade is one of the film's main villains, and Hasbro has created this deluxe
action figure with articulated horse to celebrate this long awaited
continuation of "The Planet of the Apes" saga. (Subject to change.)

.html The latest wave of Medicoms has arrived and they're VERY cool.
                  • The Conquest gorilla is more of an orange than a red, but it's still a doozie!
                  • The 3 Caesars are extremely cool too.  Two of them share the same head sculpt.
                  • And the clean shaven Taylor looks, well, CLEAN!

                  .html
FILM SCORE MONTHLY releases CONQUEST OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, BATTLE FOR
THE PLANET OF THE APES, and the PLANET OF THE APES TV THEME

Go Ape with Previously Unreleased 1970s Sci-Fi Film and TV Music!

Film Score Monthly provides the final missing link in PLANET OF THE APES
soundtracks with this three-on-one CD featuring the film scores to the
final two sequels plus the television theme music.

Early last year FSM released Leonard Rosenman's masterpiece sci-fi score to
Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970), complete with the LP re-recording
issued at the time of the film. (Jerry Goldsmith's scores to 1968's Planet
of the Apes and 1971's Escape from the Planet of the Apes are available on
CD from Varese Sarabande.) Now, get the scores to the fourth and fifth
films by Tom Scott and Leonard Rosenman, respectively.

Conquest for the Planet of the Apes (1972) is the darkest film in the
series, set in futuristic and fascist 1991 where humans have forced apes
into slavery. Cornelius' son Caesar (also played by Roddy MacDowall)
rallies the apes into a fighting force that takes over the society in a
violent allegory of the then-recent Watts riots. Jazz musician and film
composer Tom Scott -- then only 24 years old -- updated the Apes sound into
a harsh and slightly more contemporary feel, writing a memorably rhythmic
main title and aggressive brass licks for the climactic ape riots. This CD
features his complete Conquest score as heard in the picture plus numerous
cues which were dropped from the film and have never before been heard --
including his original seven-minute finale, eliminated when a revised
ending was concocted in the editing room. The Conquest tracks on this CD
are a combination of stereo and mono.

Leonard Rosenman returned to the series for Battle for the Planet of the
Apes (1973), reprising his atonal, challenging symphonic sound from the
second film but writing new themes and motifs. The main title is a long,
powerful and uptempo march for gorilla general Aldo's horseback ride into
the camp where apes and humans have made a tentative peace. The score also
includes numerous action cues, deranged acoustic and electronic effects for
the mutant human enemies, and -- a rarity for the Apes series -- moments of
genuine melody and warmth, including the optimistic end title. The complete
score is presented here, in stereo.

As a final bonus, the CD includes Lalo Schifrin's main title to the
short-lived Apes TV show from 1974 -- an aggressive 70-second piece (in
mono) firmly in the atonal Apes mold but shot through with the composer's
                  own style.

FSM's Conquest of/Battle for the Planet of the Apes is a limited edition
3,000 copy CD available exclusively from the magazine and website

Well done FOX, although we're all greatful for those great exclusives by AM, I think the quotes were a little too much. And it seems that FOX thought so as well.
As they say, live and learn.

Maybe, but I don't think that FOX would be so offended by it. As Mr. T on the Planet of the Apes: another POTA spoof on the net. You'll find that one on Brian's Link page. Those sites are not that bad at all compared to AM. I mean after all what AM was doing was using exclusive shots to advertise their magazines.
And that was clearly a no..no.

BALLS and Mr. T are just POTA spoofs, no real harm.

                  Dear FSM Customer:

Hi there - I'm writing you because you ordered the Beneath the
Planet of the Apes CD from us this past year via our website.

We have just released the fourth and fifth Apes soundtracks:
Conquest (Tom Scott) and Battle (Leonard Rosenman) on one CD --
with a special bonus of the TV theme by Lalo Schifrin.

Since you had an interest in the Beneath soundtrack, I thought
you might want to know about this new release as well. The CD
is now available and you can find an order form at:

                  http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/cds/order.asp

For complete disc info -- with a track list and sound clips --

Please note: This is a one-time mailing -- I WILL **NOT** BE
emailing you repeatedly. I get enough junk already too. I
literally just went through the CD orders for "Beneath" and
am sending emails only to those people (i.e. you!) who seemed
like Apes and film music fans. I just
figure that it's only a few hundred people and that as
customers of ours you might want to know about our limited
edition CD while it's still available. Please accept my
                  apologies if I've inconvenienced you.

If you WOULD like to receive email notices from us about
new releases, we're thinking about starting to do that.

.htmlIf American Mule got slapped in the ass by Fox, I doubt it was the lame
quotes that did it.  It's probably because they're using photos without
                  permission.

Everyone should remember a VERY important fact -- "Planet of the Apes" is the
PROPERTY of 20th Century - Fox.  It's theirs like it or not.  "You get a hold
of that and hang on to it, or you might as well be dead."

Update on Dark Horse Comics' series:

Although there will be a movie adaptation, the first series to come out (in
June) will be a sequel set ten years after Burton's film (before the film's
                  even been released... hmmm).

I advise everyone to get the latest issue of Comics International (#130,
                  February issue). It has:

                  * Planet of the Apes cover (the cover for issue 2 of the series, apparently)
                  * One page retrospective of Apes comics
                  * One page interview with the writer, Ian Edginton, featuring a couple of
sketches of the first couple of covers.

I was quite excited when I saw it in a shop after work today. But when I got
home and found the Film Score Monthly article... I think I'm about to
                  explode.

I subscribe to Cinescape, but no issue in my mailbox today.  Believe me, once
I have it in my hands I'll be on the computer before I read the article.

Too bad about the POTA trailer not coming out until March 2nd.  Can't wait to
see it.  And that photo of Linda H. in costume!  WOW!  Not bad!  BUT, it will
be BIZARRE to see Charlton Heston as an old chimpanzee.  Really bizarre, I
                  think.

That's cool, I was thinking of going to the local news stand an see but I'm afriad that I would be going for nothing, because it may not have come out yet, although I am tempted!
The Trailer wait is not bad, only one more week and counting: Next Friday!
Heston's Role will be a major Twist indeed, for not only will he be an Older Chimp but the keeper of many secrets, as was "Zaius!"

Yeah the exclusive was posted at: www.darkhorizons.com a couple of days ago.
Claims that FOX's official word was March 2nd. And no doubt they'll have it in the Theatres before they e-mail us on the exlusive. It never pays to subscribe, just go with the flow like everyone else.

Cinescape images were the same as before (nothing we haven't seen before on the net), just two new images, wahlberg and warren (movie takes), nothing much but on the other hand better than nothing I guess.

Images are now posted at: www.prophecysite.com/riseofapes2.htm

Could someone pick me up a copy of this and I'll send them the money to
cover it (as well as shipping)? Not too many comic shops near where I

                  .html
Since the time when I wrote my detailed review of the BENEATH release,
I've been in touch with Lukas at FSM. He had let me know that the
CONQUEST/BATTLE CD was in the works, and at one point I suggested they
release a CD of all the music from the television series, which he said
he'd consider. Personally, I loved the music from the show and would
enjoy adding it to my collection, and I'm sure there are others out there
who would agree. If you'd like to see FSM pursue this, may I suggest you
drop a note to lukas@filmscoremonthly and let him know of your interest.
Because obviously, the more they see people are interested, the more
inclined they'll be to pursue it.

What, you psychic or something? :-)

BTW, I have to agree with your list of unreleased scores and would like
to add: Gil Melle's experimental/avant garde score to THE ANDROMEDA
STRAIN. I have a vinyl version of this, but it's far from complete.
Actually, I bought it from the same dealer who sold me the BENEATH Lp
(about ten years back). It's pretty cool actually- a 10" album shaped
like....can't think of the term now. Six pointed shape. Hexagon?
                  Heptagon?

At any rate, it'd be nice to own on CD. Ditto for WESTWORLD and
                  FUTUREWORLD

                  Hi John,

I too watched the original Trek on Channel 11 (though I live upstate) so
I'm guessing you also had the pleasure of watching POTA week on the 4:30
Movie on Channel 7. One thing I noticed about all three of the Trek spin
offs is that they all took off, found their pacing, whatever you want to
call it- during the fourth season. Afterwards, the older episodes seemed
                  much more enjoyable.
And having one's wife involved in a project can be a good or bad thing
depending on who else is involved. Take Roddenberry's Earth: Final
Conflict. Season One was great, two was OK, three sucked, and the current
one is pretty good. Part of the problem? Too many executive producers.
I'm sure it's no coincidence things are getting better now that they're
                  down to three.
Slightly off topic, but I'm willing to bet there's a few ST fans on this
                  list.

Hexagon. It was shaped like one of the nasties. Andromeda Strain was the
first SF novel I read, and the second was one called Metamorphosis (blue
cones - anyone remember?). Prefer the book to the film - though the visuals
                  are good.

That I don't want to know.  I know there's a war and there will be big battle
scenes, but I hope I don't know plot details until I see the movie.  I expect

Well, here is where it begins.
Because those storyboads that you see are only a few of the complete set, the whole layout are full complete scenes from the film already shot. I know because I've seen them all in complete form. For myself I don't really care, I already know the complete stroy of the film. As I already knew ahead of time how the storyline would turn out. (not so different from what I spoke of before)
But as Dodge once said: (when it comes to the net) Where there's one theres another, and another and another. So now it's only just a matter of time before all storyboards show up. I only hope FOX plugs up the lead in their system before it really gets out of hand.

                  Best,
