The "Apes" website that's getting the most press is"Tim Burton's 'Planet of the Apes'" (www.planetoapes.com). It was featured on "Access Hollywood" and the current (I think) "Entertainment Weekly", which sited it's articles. It's in EW's internet section. Why all the attention paid to this site?

Do you mean the kind of "framing sequence" (I think that's what you'd call
it) with Phylis and Jinn? If so, I agree, it would be hard to get that into
a film without people guessing it straight away. The penultimate twist, as
previously mentioned in this discussion, was excellent too.

How exactly? It doesn't matter how many pictures we see and it doesn't
matter how many details of the script that you reveal - nobody has seen the
movie yet, ergo nobody knows how good it is.

Even Tim doesn't know what it's going to be yet. It has to be edited,
scored, FXed. By now they know how hungry the web is (and how much shit is
leaving their offices). If they're smart, they will create an ending at the
last minute (though I don't know how the secret will be kept during post
production. Imagine how much easier it was for the original when no one had
any expectations! - - - Jeff K.

attractive after all these years. What can I say? Nova is the sexiest woman

The new movie mag Total Movie has an article titled "Tease Me, Baby!" in
the Rough Cut section. It critiques the teaser posters for upcoming films.
Here's what they had to say about the POTA poster: "It is often the art that
demands the most of its audience that eventually satisfies the most. Such is
the case here, in a piece that seems deliberately vague and open to
interpertation. While the muted colors are effectively evocative of Tim
Burton's crepuscular oeuvre, the specific harmony of blue-greys and shaded
tones imply a restfulness that is totally at odds with the inferred
malevolence of the subject. The eyes of the ape, detached, almost
disinterested, tell us nothing" (Written by Mariella Van Nostromo, a "high
falutin' art critic) TOTAL MOVIE SAYS: A monkey in a shiny metal hat? Two
opposable thumbs up!" Enjoy, John

Anyway, what is also included with every issue is a DVD full of movie

Subject: Solar Sail
.html
Well, Speak of the Solar Sail!
Just a day after I mentioned it, guess what popped up in my Gizmorama mail .
. .

FIRST SOLAR SAIL TEST FLIGHT IN APRIL

The first spacecraft propelled solely by sunlight -- a solar
sail -- is set for an April test flight in a converted ICBM
launched from a Russian submarine in the Barents Sea. The
revolutionary mission, which promises space travel without
onboard-fuel, was developed by the Planetary Society and
sponsored by Cosmos Studios. "This is a Kitty Hawk moment to
us. We feel as if we've been given the chance to outfit the
Wright Brothers' Bicycle Shop," says Ann Druyan, CEO of
Cosmos Studios. Solar sails are giant mirrors roughly 20
to 50 times thinner than a human hair, which are propelled
by pressure from reflected sunlight. This pressure is
powerful enough to push solar sails from Mercury out to
Jupiter. The main mission, which is scheduled to launch
between October and December, will deploy a 600 square meter
(6,460 square foot) solar sail that will be injected into
Earth orbit about 850 kilometers (530 miles) up by a Russian
Volna rocket. Once in orbit, the sail will be deployed by
inflatable tubes that pull out the sail material and act as
masts. The sail is constructed of eight triangular blades
that can each be rotated to vary the angle of reflected
sunlight so that force may be applied in any direction. The
Planetary Society hopes the main mission will sail for weeks.
The test launch will only deploy two solar sail blades, and
will return to Earth at the westernmost Russian province of
Kamchatka, bringing with it an inflatable re-entry capsule
containing a camera.

--v.t. 5. to keep secret or concealed; hush up --v.i. to act

i am kind of excited about the new apes flick this summer.  i am sure that it will be absolutely nothing like the originals but it i also expect that burton will do a good job with this movie and i intend to drag a whole hoard of my friends to see it on opening night.  the poster has been hanging up in my local theater for about a month (newport news, va).

Even Tim doesn't know what it's going to be yet. It has to be edited,

Well Jeff I would have to agree with that, working scripts are not like final scripts. Anything can change at any given moment. So I wouldn't doubt if I'm wrong on a few issues about the storyline. But whatever may unfold, if they remain with this working script I would say that we're all in for one great treat.
The visual of the trailer itself was pretty impressive, mix that in with a cool script like this and the final result will be like lightning on the screen.

So let's just hope for the best.

I also agree with that Jeff, notice how the exclusives have come to an almost STOP! That is good but also bad at the sametime because if you stop the hype, you could also kill the film at the boxoffice, Just like they did with GODZILLA and so called famous face.

And like Lucas and Phantom Meneace: THE MOVIE SUKED!!! BIG TIME!!!
But the hype made it a MAJOR BLOCKBUSTER!

YOU KILL THE EXCLUSIVES, YOU MAY KILL THE BOXOFFICE.
YOU UNLEASE THE EXCLUSIVES AND THE HYPE WILL EXPLODE THE BOXOFFICE.

It's almost like russian rulet.
I just hope FOX dosen't go the way of GODZILLA by ho;ding back on exclusive footage and images and make this the first GODZILLA of the 21st century (as I have said before)

All the Best.

Raquel senior. Even though she's a Brunette she was Blonde for One Million

Bah! What sort of an excuse is that? I'm only 23 and I've only been into
Apes for about 10-15 years and I've seen it on the big screen. You'll just
need to scour those art-house cinema listings carefully!

Actually, this brings up an interesting point - what with the ridiculous
hype that is going to surround this new movie, I wonder if we'll get to see
the originals popping up in some backstreet cinema somewhere?

Here's hoping! (I know for example that Rory would particularly like to see
the sequels, especially Battle, re-released)

I'm probably going to kick myself for not remembering, but where in the
movie do they say this. And who the hell is this "they" everyone keeps

As far as I know this 'item' about L.H. is for real, but I'm not saying it's
definitely going to happen.  If it does, you can bet I'll check it out, and I
hope she looks damn good.  In that one picture of her I saw in her outfit for
the new APES, standing with her kids, she looked great.

I guess we'll all have to just wait and see.

Also, that guy who asked where's the line "What a lot of hugger mugger." in
ESCAPE?  It's what a reporter says after the Chairmen of the Presidential
Commission gives him a line of....well,  hugger mugger!   Watch the movie!!

Hey, has anybody else in this group ever seen the 1970 flick "Colossus: The
Forbin Project" with a pre-ESCAPE Eric Braeden playing Dr. Forbin?   I'm
watching my letterboxed laserdisc of it right now and wondered if any of you
fellow APES fans have ever seen it.  Good, nearly forgotten Sci-Fi.

And on the subject again of sexy women in Sci-Fi.....  Requel Welch in either
"One Million Years B.C." or "Fantastic Voyage" -- make that just "one
Million..", ....  Caroline Munro in.... oh, I forget what -- who cares, and
from George Pal's "The Time Machine" two words.....

I am thankful for all of the cool figures they put out. But man if they made
semi-obscure characters like Lucius, Lawgiver, Milo and Nova I would love for
them to continue and give us more characters like Julius, Dr. Galen (from
POTA), a Chimp Nurse, the other orangutans from the Trial scene, a

Subject: What Would You Do?

This is a Fantasy Island type question/situation. Time travel back to the
mid-1960s and suppose you had carte blanche (sp?) to make the POTA franchise
anyway you wish. Basically, you are the guy who was in charge of the films at
the time. What would you do?

Here are a few guidelines: The films would come out from the same era that
they originally did. These are not modern day remakes. The budget for each
film can be the same as the first film if you so chose (not decreasing
budgets and quality). You can make any plot changes you want (or none at
all). You can invent new characters that fit your plot. You can recast any
role you want, but remember it has to be an actor from that time period. For
example if you want Paul Newman to play Ursus and Dustin Hoffman to play an
orangutan leader, then consider it done. On the other hand, you can't have
Tom Cruise as Dr. Dixon, because he wasn't acting at the time. You have the
power to make Heston do all four sequels if you want. You can change the
titles of the films or keep them the same.

I am curious to see people's ideas here. I have a few thoughts (and some that
may be considered heresy) that I will post in the next day or so. Hopefully
others will do the same.

    Good one, eh!

Okay, I wouldn't touch the first one. That would be heresy. Except I might
cut some of the cliches like the 3 monkeys joke. Keep it more serious. And
I would have had the Taylor Zira relationship more in the forefront like in
the book. Maybe with an advanced civilization like the book too. That's a
tough call though I like the feel of the other. Maybe just give them a few
things and have them wear something other than uniforms all the time.

One the second one I would have replaced James Franciscus. Not that he's
that bad. Personally I think McDowall overacts more. But I like the idea
about Paul Newman. Even Robert Redford...with a beard. And I would
concentrate on the ape society more. And I'd lose those background masks.

In Escape I'd have Heston and the original crew leaving. Actually show them
getting ready for the mission and blasting off. Then when the apes comeback,
I might have flashbacks about them getting ready to leave too. And I'd have
them make it to Florida and start their colony, and have the revolution start
    from there.

Conquest would be a much different film then. Lose that Breck guy for sure.
I want apes movie heavy and serious. They were too Saturday matinee for my
taste. I'd focus on how the apes got tired of being pushed around and
    retaliated.

And Battle, well . . . I would have had the fight we all pictured in out
heads from the beginning. When I saw the first one, I didn't picture the
apes coming to power after some human nuclear war. I pictured the apes taking
over every city. And that the bomb was a last ditch suicidal way to stop
them, like Taylor in Beneath. And that the ape just got a better toehold on
    rebuilding civilization after the apocalypse.

But I could go on and on with the possibilities. I would have made the 2 1/2
to 3 hour epics, or apics. And I would have replaced the TV movie of the
weak (and I do mean weak) actors with top noch ones. But what are your
    thoughts?

A great script and great visual director normaly equates to a 99.9% chance of a great blockbuster.
Well, at least 99.9% of the time anyway.

So I guess we'll soon find out.

    .htmlHey Matt,

Just sent for the POTM script, and just remembered something else about Mort
Abrahams' memos:  He thought Heston's acting wasn't too great at the final,
"Too toothy" is a phrase I recall, and he wanted to cut most of Taylor's "I'm
home, I'm back...." speech.  Thank the Lawgiver Abrahams wasn't POTA's
    director.

As to your questions: The first thing I'd do with PLANET is double the
budget.  I also think Boulle's novel could have been shot as written.  I
would have given the ape society a retro-Fifties look with just some
redressing of Fifties cars and clothing.  Cities not well know in the West,
such as those ugly modern ones in East Europe could have been used for the
apes' city.  Planes could have looked the same just as long as you couldn't
tell what actual manufacture and model they were.

But leaving PLANET as it was shot:  I'd have made the spaceship more
convincing, and I'd have actually sunk the full-scale prop, not a five-foot
model.  The lightning effect should have been better in the desert scene, and
when we first see the cornfield there should have been a matte shot showing
some of the desert mesas in the far background.  The ape city set should have
been bigger and less 'Flintstoney' looking.  I wish Roddy McDowall and some
of the other actors playing apes had worn black turtlenecks so I couldn't see
their necks sometimes, as I can now, and I wish they's thought of painting
the actor's real teeth black back when they made the first film instead of
    later in the series.

I also would have had larger, chunkier guys playing the gorillas, and I'd
have given the orangutans longer arms and those 'things' real adult male
orangs have on the sides of their faces.  I also would have let the chimps
have real chimp noses.   AND NO BACKGROUND MASKS!!!  Of course, this is what
we're going to see in the new movie and I'm glad.  There will be background
masks, but very good ones and different varieties, and hopefully only in the
    background!

As for a change in the cast:  For some reason I would have loved it now if
Boris Karloff had played the President of the Assembly.  What a great role
for him to have ended his career with.  He would have started and ended in
two of the screen's most famous makeups.  And as much as I love Maurice Evans
as Dr. Zaius, and wouldn't really replace him if I could, I can't help
wondering what Edward G. Robinson would have been like.   "You're a menace,
Taylor, see!  A walking pestilence, yeah!"

As for BENEATH....  well, I wouldn't have made BENEATH, but given what it is
I think it would have been nice if it had had triple its budget.   Heston
should have done the sequel and I think was really a dick not to have.  I
would have simply replaced him and had another actor play Taylor.  I'd have
tried for Richard Harris.  The film would be very different if Taylor were
    the main character.
But again leaving the film as it is, another change in casting I've often
thought about is what if they'd gotten John Wayne to play Ursus.  That would
have been perfect, and if they had Ursus probably would have had a larger
part in the story.  James Gregory was good though.  They first asked Orson
Welles to do it, but I don't think he would have worked.

Somehow, I would have found some other way to end the film beside blowing up
the world.  That ending is like the Igor's brain being put into the head of
the Monster in the 'Frankenstein' series -- A major blunder, but with POTA
they managed to recover pretty well.

ESCAPE:  I wouldn't change much in it EXCEPT Roddy and Kim's makeup should be
better.  They don't look the same as the do in the original and they really
    should.

CONQUEST:  Again, more money in the budget.  Better makeup on everybody,
especially McDowall, and less background masks.  And ape feet!!!!    I also
wouldn't have copped-out as they did with the ending, and I'd have left in
all the violence that would have probably gotten the film an R rating.  We'd
    have had a better film.

BATTLE:  Oh, boy!   I guess A STORY would be nice!   Why did they make this
film?   Whaa, Whaa.... Why?  Nuf said.

OK, here's my thoughts of how I would have done the series. I had fun doing
this. Let me know what you think (but beware, this is kind of long). I'm
still curious to see the ideas of others (Rory and LordTZer had some cool
    thoughts!)

    PLANET OF THE APES

Basically I would keep this film the same. Why mess with perfection? I toyed
with the idea of not having the rocket sink in the lake, but I thought that
could change the motivation of Taylor’s character at the end of the film,
which is something I wouldn’t do. I have ideas on how to deal with the rocket
dilemma later. I like the idea of he and Nova going off to give humanity a
chance rather than thoughts about a possibility of escaping and getting back
home. If I had to make any changes I would get rid of some of the campy
elements like the "See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil" orangutans and
lines like "Human see, human do."

SECRET OF THE PLANET OF THE APES

I am changing the title here. While my sequel has elements of BENEATH, it is
not solely focused on them. I am going to take some of the ideas from the
PLANET OF THE MEN script and combine them with ideas from BENEATH, with a few
    new twists of my own.

First of all, Heston has agreed to appear in my sequel in a starring role so
there is no need for the Brent character and the ill-fated rescue mission.
Like BENEATH, this film picks up exactly where the first one left off. After
the Statue of Liberty horror, Taylor and Nova go off and start there own
colony, deep in the Forbidden Zone and far away from Ape City. As time goes
by, they have a son and name him Sirius. Like the novel, Nova’s experiences
with motherhood and her son also help her learn to speak, but she is still
not the intellectual equal of Taylor. Taylor and his family have also
befriended other savage humans and have domesticated them a bit so that they
all live together in one happy community. Finally, the misanthrope Taylor is
content and happy with the peaceful state of the human race.

Go forward about fifteen years later: Sirius is maturing into a headstrong
young man, not unlike his father (I am not sure who to cast in the role of
Sirius). Suddenly, there are visitors to the colony. Startled, Taylor and his
companions learn that they are apes. They are relieved to find that it is his
friend Lucius (Lou Wagner) and another kind chimpanzee - Dr. Milo (Sal
Mineo). Taylor asks, "what brings you here?" They proceed to bring Taylor up
to speed on the events of the last fifteen years: Cornelius has been
imprisoned for scientific heresy. He was finally supposed to be freed, but
when the orangutan council learned that Cornelius planned to run against Dr.
Zaius for the position of Minister of Science, they pulled some strings and
got his sentence extended indefinitely. Lucius and Milo are seeking Taylor
out so he can help them free Cornelius (apparently Cornelius is in a much
more secure jail than Taylor ever was). Taylor protests and tells them that
he is too happy and doesn’t want to jeopardize his life and risk imprisonment
again. In an attempt to make him feel guilty, Lucius reminds him of the
sacrifices that Cornelius has made so that Taylor could be free. Plus he has
made a discovery, one that could ensure that Cornelius’ escape is a success.
He shows Taylor a sophisticated grenade obviously of human design that he
recently unearthed (it seems that Lucius has grown up to be a successful
archaeologist in his own right). Apparently Lucius and Milo have discovered
an ancient human arsenal full of hi-tech weaponry. Worried about the
ramifications if these weapons were to fall into ape hands (or paws so to
speak), Taylor agrees to accompany Lucius and Milo to the arsenal to check it
out. As he rides off with the two apes, he leaves Sirius and Nova to tend to
    the colony.

They arrive at the arsenal in another part of the Forbidden Zone and Taylor
is amazed at the discovery. Tons of grenades, bombs, and guns that make the
apes’ crude rifles look toys. In an ironic twist considering Heston’s recent
political views, Taylor is skeptical about using them even if it means the
freedom of his old friend. He contemplates destroying the arsenal altogether
and Lucius and Milo agree to let him do so only after Cornelius is free.
Reluctantly, Taylor finally agrees and the arsenal is destroyed only after
they take enough weapons for their plot. Armed, the trio rides into Ape City
where Taylor is reunited with Zira. As they sneak around town (no hokey ape
masks are seen thanks to our increased film budget) they witness Ursus (James
Gregory) giving the same sort of rousing speech that he did in BENEATH.
Taylor shudders at the thought of having to deal with the likes of Ursus
    again.

Finally they reach the jail. They easily subdue the jailer (Julius again) and
with a grenade, are able so successfully blow up a wall and free Cornelius
(Roddy McDowell - we were able to shoot around his play schedule and did not
need to recast the part). After a brief celebration, the group heads off,
apparently unseen. They do not see one of Ursus’ scouts who tails them all
the way back to the colony. When they arrive, there is a confrontation with
the gorilla soldier who tries to capture the fugitive apes. In the ensuing
scuffle, the gorilla’s rifle is fired and Nova is killed. As Taylor mourns
his mate, Sirius seeks vengeance and successfully manages to kill the
gorilla. Taylor is totally distraught over the turn of events and the violent
    acts of his son.

After contemplating the situation, Taylor decides to leave his colony. It is
apparent by Ursus’ speech that ape troops may soon be invading and they are
no longer safe. He and Sirius will move farther out into the Forbidden Zone
and after a brief discussion, it is decided that the four chimps will
accompany them (much to the dismay of Sirius who blames them for the death of
    his mother).

After a few days of travel, the group discovers a hidden passage that leads
underground (like in BENEATH). They find that they are in another destroyed
part of New York City. As their exploration continues, they eventually find
the society inhabited by the mutant humans. This time, the mutants are not
evil, they don’t have mind-altering powers. They are a peaceful society with
a lot of technology, including the Doomsday bomb, which they don’t worship,
but preserve in case it is ever needed. They also have technology that has
enabled them to know about Taylor since his arrival on Earth. Taylor asks why
they live underground and it is revealed that they need the radiation to
survive. If they were to go into the outside world they would eventually die
because of the lack of radiation. They are happy with their society and see
no need to go into the real world and confront the apes. They do have
vehicles that they can travel outside for short periods of time if absolutely
necessary. In fact, one vehicle is big enough and sophisticated enough that
they were able to retrieve Taylor’s ship with it (aha!) and they now have it
in their possession to study. Apparently they almost have it in operational
order. Taylor is enthused and sees this as a way to possibly escape with
Sirius and make it back home. He feels that is worth the risk of radiation
poisoning to live with the mutants until the ship is up and running again. As
they go over the workings of the ship, Dr. Milo takes a keen interest in it.

As time goes on, the ship is almost restored, but the mutants sense trouble.
The apes are marching on their society and it is only a matter of time until
they are discovered. Eventually they arrive and a battle not unlike the one
in BENEATH ensues. Sirius takes the lead and engages in battle. He is
eventually killed, as is Lucius (after his death, Cornelius, Zira and Milo
retreat). The battle continues and eventually ends up in the cathedral where
the bomb is revealed. Taylor gets wounded and finally comes face to face with
his old arch-nemesis Dr. Zaius. The ending here is almost exactly like
BENEATH, with Taylor realizing that because his family is dead and he can’t
make it to his ship alive that there is no other choice but to destroy the
    Earth.

ESCAPE FROM THE PLANET OF THE APES

I would keep this movie almost exactly like the one that ended up being
filmed. I would take advantage of the increased budget to make the sets and
effects better. For instance, the gorilla that kills Milo actually looks like
a real gorilla and not some idiot in a cheap Halloween costume. The Oval
Office set actually looks like the Oval Office and not some den. Since this
film does not need as many special effects as the first two, I would use the
remainder of the budget to secure top name stars in the key roles. No offense
to fans of Natalie Trundy, Bradford Dillman, and Eric Braeden, but I think we
can do better here. I have no problem with their acting, but I think a
franchise of this caliber needs more starpower. I am thinking Jack Nicholson
as Dr. Hasslein. Maybe Sissy Spacek or Faye Dunaway as Stevie. Paul Newman or
Warren Beatty as Dr. Lewis Dixon. Gene Hackman has a cameo as the President.
I would keep the prologue scene that is in the script, with ape-o-nauts
witnessing the destruction of the Earth from space and then traveling back to
the present. The only other scene I would add would be a conversation between
Hasslein and the President that delves into the concern over the possibility
of Cornelius and Zira giving birth to an ape that can talk. Hasslein says
something to the effect like "Mr. President, with the testimony of the two
apes along information that we have learned from ‘Project A’ the future of
the human race could be at stake." The audience is left to wonder exactly
what "Project A" is all about. The film ends the same with Cornelius, Zira,
Hasslein and baby Milo apparently dying, but the epilogue shows that Milo
lives on. Ricardo Montalban retains his role as Armando.

CONQUEST OF THE PLANET OF THE APES

Gone is the police state with apes as slaves, waiters, hairdressers and
personal assistants. The silly plague that killed dogs and cats never
happened. Society is normal, or so we think. Secretly, the government is
undertaking sinister nuclear experiments in an effort to keep up in the Cold
War with the Russians. These experiments are known as "Project A" and involve
the testing of nuclear weaponry on apes. Scientists have learned that in some
cases, the radiation has had some positive effects on the apes including
    increased size and even intelligence.

One group of apes, led by an extremely intelligent gorilla named Aldo (Robert
Deniro), has apparently escaped from the top-secret government compound
(located on the outskirts of New York) where "Project A" experiments are
taking place. The government has launched an all out search to find the apes
and bring them back dead or alive. Agents Breck (Donald Sutherland),
MacDonald (Sidney Poiter) and Kolp (Jon Voight) lead the team appointed by
the President (Gene Hackman again) to search for the fugitive apes.

This leads them to search zoos and circuses and for the apes. They figure
that the apes should not be too hard to find given their evolved size and
physiology. Eventually they end up at Armando’s traveling Circus, where an
amazing ape named Caesar is wowing crowds with his act. I may be committing
Apes heresy here, but Roddy McDowell will not be playing Caesar. As much as I
like McDowell in the part, it always kind of bugged me to have the exact same
actor to play father and son. Instead, I am recasting the part with a young,
up-and-coming actor of the day who has the strength, sensitivity and talent
to make the role all his own: Richard Dreyfuss. The government agents are
intrigued by the size and talents of Caesar, who resembles some of the finest
specimens from Project A. Suspicious, they question Armando who produces the
appropriate paperwork documenting the fact that Caesar was the first
chimpanzee born in a circus. This is not good enough for them, and they
decide to take Caesar into their custody. Armando protests, a skirmishes
ensues and Armando ends up dead. Caesar is distraught, but sees no other
choice but to go with agents and plot his revenge from within.

They bring Caesar back to the compound, where he is horrified to see the
experiments performed on creatures of his own kind. Slowly, Caesar befriends
the imprisoned apes and learns that some possess the intelligence to help him
with his plot. He immediately starts to plan his revolt. At the same time,
Breck and his team cannot find any record of Caesar and wonder where he came
from. After one brutal display against a gorilla, Caesar yells out "Lousy
human bastard!" and his cover is blown. Breck and Kolp deduce that Caesar can
only be the son of Cornelius and Zira.

Meanwhile, Aldo and his band of ten or so apes plot their next move. They
decide to make their way to the section of ape management where the apes are
imported from overseas. They break in and get into a bloody battle and
eventually overthrow government officials. Aldo and his commrades now have
hundreds of apes (not to mention weapons) at their disposal and make their
way to the main compound (where Caesar is held). It is also revealed in this
scene that Aldo's intelligence has advance so much that he has acquired the
    power of speech.

While this is going on, Caesar is undergoing sadistic torture at the hands of
agents Breck and Kolp. Finally, in a scene similar to the one that actually
occurred in the original CONQUEST, MacDonald takes pity on Caesar and saves
his life. Breck and Kolp move on, thinking that Caesar is dead. Caesar
escapes and resumes the preparations for his revolt. Eventually, they are
ready and the attack begins from within the compound. At the same time, Aldo
and his troops (hundreds of apes - none wearing masks) converge on the place
from the outside. The government is totally caught off guard and slowly lose
the battle. Kolp is killed. Breck is captured. Just as Breck is about to be
killed, MacDonald pleads with Caesar to spare his life. Caesar agrees, but
then Aldo bursts in and cuts his head off. Caesar is sickened by the display,
but realizes that it is in his best interest to form an alliance with Aldo
and his troops in order to meet their mutual goals. MacDonald is taken into
custody and Caesar gives his "Birth of the Planet of the Apes" speech.

BATTLE FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES

My version of BATTLE picks up right where my version of CONQUEST left off.
Caesar and Aldo have formed an uneasy partnership, but it is clear that the
two ape factions have different views about how their society should be run.
They have secured the Ape Management compound, but what next?

Meanwhile, the enemies of the United States have learned that a war has
erupted on American soil. The Russians sense that they are vulnerable and
launch a nuclear attack, destroying much of the west coast. The U.S. launches
a counter attack and destroys Russia. This goes back and forth and lays much
of the groundwork for the condition of the Earth that Taylor eventually
    discovered.

By the time the apes leave the surprisingly secure confines of the compound,
much of the Earth is a twisted wreck from the nuclear holocaust. Caesar and
Aldo argue about they fate of MacDonald and the other humans that they have
in their custody, not to mention the few remaining survivors of the nuclear
holocaust. They eventually agree to go their seperate ways with Caesar opting
to pursue a peaceful coexistance with the humans and Aldo going on a bloody
rampage to conquer his own territory. With the help of his trusted orangutan
friend Virgil (Dustin Hoffman), a kind female chimpanzee named Lisa (Ellyn
Burnstyn), and MacDonald, Caesar lays the groundwork for his community.

Several years pass and Caesar and his friends are living peacefully. Their
lives are disrupted by the sudden return of Aldo and his followers. The blood
thirsty savage has lived the life of a nomadic pirate and now wants even more
power. For some reason he views Caesar as a threat and engages him in battle
in an attempt to overthrow him. The two ape communities get into a bloody
    conflict

It seems that my last email got cut off, so here is the remainder of my
BATTLE summary for those who care:

Several years pass and Caesar and his friends are living peacefully. Their
lives are disrupted by the sudden return of Aldo and his followers. The blood
thirsty savage has lived the life of a nomadic pirate and now wants even more
power. For some reason he views Caesar as a threat and engages him in battle
in an attempt to overthrow him. The two ape communities get into a bloody
conflict (where the sacred "Ape Must Not Kill Ape" law is broken) and
eventually Caesar is taken into custody. Aldo and his group make their way
for MacDonald and his human colony.

It seems that MacDonald is having problems of his own. Like Caesar, he is
sick of war, death and destruction and dreams of peace. But others have
different ideas. A group of renegade humans led by the mysterious Mendez
(Martin Sheen) have developed a Doomsday bomb that could destroy the Earth.
They have it hidden deep within the remains of a Manhatten cathedral. They
try to lure MacDonald and his followers to their lair so they can plot their
next move. MacDonald wants no part of this, but has second thoughts when Aldo
arrives. Taunting the humans, another battle breaks out and MacDonald is
killed, his dreams of peace unrealized. Caesar watches helplessly as his old
    friend dies before his eyes.

From within custody, Caesar plants the seeds of treason within Aldo's troops.
Even they can see that Aldo is mad and leading them on a suicide run.
Finally, Caesar convinces one of them to free him so they can confront Aldo
and overthrow him. Caesars coup d'etat confronts Aldo and the two face off.
Aldo is blind with rage to learn that most of his troops have betrayed him.
Eventually, Caesar kills him, ending the mad man's (or ape's) reign of
terror. But he has little time to enjoy his victory, as Caesar is immediately
assassinated by human troops that were seeking retribution for MacDonald's
death and accidentally mistook him for Aldo. They realize their mistake and
beg the apes forgiveness. Caesar's widow Lisa urges them to do so, because
that is what Caesar would have wanted. The apes and humans vow to try to set
aside their differences and live a peaceful life together. Virgil is elected
    Lawgiver of the new society.

The movie (and series) ends with scenes of Mendez and his followers in the
cathedral, talking about how their day will come (or something like that).

I guess to claim that I actually 100% know for sure would be a bit
presumptuous, but the head really looks like it comes from another shot.....

    We may never know!

The joke's on you guys. I've already seen Tim's movie. I come from the future and I warn you it's worse than even the mammal you call Rory thinks. But I"m not going to tell you the ending.  - - - - Q10 - 12

You want to hear something even more funnier.
I had a funny dream about 3 years ago.
The dream was that I was in line to see a movie, and the line of the crowd that I was in was farther than the eye can see.
    They then announced:
For those wanting to watch: Corcodile Dondie (if that's how you sell it) you may now enter the threatre.
    EVERYONE BOOED!!

The croud was there to see something else!
Something I was never able to find out because I woke up moments later.

A year later after the Phantom Menace was released I thought, well maybe it was Phantom Menace? The only problem was that Crocodlie Dondie wasn't released in that year.

Now low and behold, Crocodile Dondie after ten years or so is coming out with a sequal: PART THREE.

In the same year as Planet of the Apes.
I don't know if it will be a dream come true, but it would be interesting to see Planet of the Apes become a major Blockbuster.

A dream that I had long before I ever knew that planet of the apes was coming out with a remake, and little lone Crocodile Dondie????

    Best,

I thought it was Alex's  girlfriend at first , but then I realized it was actually our webmaster, Ray, over here at theAPEMANIA studio, posing in front of a statue that was built for a client in Japan.  Ray's not related to Scott, at least that's what the two of them claim.

    Oh, okay.

Thanks for clearing that up B.

    Alex

I see what you mean Brian, just got my Ape-O-nauts and Lawgiver yesterday.
Awesome! I like they way they made to Ape-O-nauts Milo and Cornelius with dirty space suits, how cool is that!

I'm ordering another Lawgiver next week so I can display it next to my computer. Something cool to have displayed as I work on my web site.

Also thinking on getting a novascope from Linda Harrison, a very cool and personal item from the Queen of Sci-Fi.

.html We are making a base for the Lawgiver.  Can't believe Medicom missed that part of the sculpt.  They got the foot right, so they must've had good reference of the original, but why no base?  Hmmm...

      What's a Novascope?

Linda Harrison is into Astronomy so she's offering a full chart on those who take up the offer for $60. You get a full personal chart from Linda plus a autograph photo.

I've never really been into astrology myself but thought is would be a cool collectible. My personal cup of tea has been craking incripted bible codes in the past, but that's another talk show :o)

You'll see this on here site at: www.lindaharrison.com
