.html .htmlI got a call from Jeff Krueger tonight -- very nice of him, AND I said hello
to Natalie Trundy --
Anyway, one item of interest is that Jeff has just found out the new PLANET
OF THE APES will have its World Premiere in New York City NOT L.A.
I just remembered that the original film had its World Premiere in N.Y.C.
too, so it seems appropriate.

Yeah, it's a living.
Today we had the honor of opening the International Make-up Trade
Show in Pasadena, CA. (Hosted by Make-up Artist Magazine)
A few weeks back we filmed a Monkees parody music video for the openning
ceremonies which was great fun. (See foto attached)
The audience got a kick out of it too. We were supposed to
be the binder for a video montage of great apes-in-film clips set to the
music of the Monkees' theme, but the final edit seemed to be missing alot
of famous apes. It was still well received by the crowd though.
The talk of the show and buz is much about Rick Baker's guest ape-pearance
tomorrow showing footage of his cameo make-up transformation into an ape
for Burton's film.
Look's like more furry fun.

.htmlBy request, here are the lyrics to my POTA parody song.
There's a small bit of profanity in the song, so if you are offended
by such, you may want to skip it. Also, I took a little bit of
poetic license. For example, Charlton wasn't shot in the neck with
an Uzi in the movie. But Uzi rhymes with woozy, etc. So for the
purists, please cut me a bit of slack. ;)
The mp3 is available for free download at:

Enjoy! :)

Lyrics:
I was just an astronaut
I blasted off for space in the morning
They shoulda gave me a warning
Of where they're sendin me to
The monkeys here are talkin
And they're bipedally walking around
What is this place that I've found?
A mutant Brooklyn Zoo
(Monkey House! -but they're the ones in charge)
These monkeys are smokin crack
When they attack
You watch you're back
They caught me in a net
And then they shot me in the neck with an Uzi
It made me feel a bit woozy
And now I can't use my voice
They threw me in a prison
With a hottie, stone age, woman to screw me
But I wasn't horny
I just want to get my spaceship back and fly back home, yeah!
These monkeys are smokin crack
When they attack
You watch you're back
They're smarter than you think
Hell, one's a shrink!
But they still stink
I wanna find my friend
And make this nightmare end
I'm gonna sue NASA
My lawyer's gonna have a time
They'll pay a fine
My Jaguar will shine
Upon The Rhine
Upon The Rhine
Ahhh
Holy shit! They got my friend!
They cut his head! They fucked with his brain!
And now he's droolin' insane
Now it's just me and the chick
We make our break. We steal a horse
We flee until we come to the beach
My ship is nearly in reach
But what's this buried Statue of Liberty? Noo!
These monkeys are smokin crack
When they attack
You watch you're back
They're smarter than you think
We've been hoodwinked
But they still stink <.html

That Makeup Magazine was a Huge Help. Can't wait
for HBO's First Look of Planet of the Apes. There's going to be a lot of great
Baker segments there to capture on real player!

Ops I was wrong . It's Emmy Collins who is the gorilla/human out
cast character . <.html

Not certain, but I don't think so . . . As I understand it, the only real
reason for the human look on the female chimps is so that anything between
Carter and Wahlberg would be believable. The studio kept saying make her
prettier. I think they went a bit far when they added eyebrows. Zira was
more attractive than those turtleheaded Klingon bitches on ST. If anything
it makes it less believable. Because the females look so un-apelike, they
look like a completely different species. Don't ask me why they would
sacrifice believability in one area for another -- unless they're just scared
of any bestial backlash at the box-office. Independents can afford to stick
to their guns -- for studios box-office IS the bottom line. <.html

ARGH! Let's not have this conversation again. We're nearly all agreed that
the Statue of Liberty on the cover is a bad idea, but evertime it's
mentioned it always degenerates into a list of "Why don't they just stick
<spoiler x> on the cover of <film y> whiler they're at it"-type posts.
Nobody mention Soylent Green, Citizen Kane, or the Sixth Sense again,

Well, I could only guess. I would say Ben Stiller, Tim Burton, James
Cameron, most of the writers on The Simpsons and a few on That 70's Show,
Howard Stern, Dennis Miller, Matt Dillon and few others that will probably

I wouldn't get involved with eurotrash - it's meant to be a really crass program about the 'fringe' in culture and art. The kind of program that has performance artists talk about why they sleep naked in art galleries and why they think it's art. 'Scraping the bottom of the cultural barrel' and 'turning over some of the dirtier stones in the European garden to see what lives beneath,' have been epithets used about this programme. One of their 'features' was about a S&M conference in Amsterdam, with suitably titled presentations. I watched an episode once, because the listing said it was about contemporary music - turned out to be nude string quartet! They also showed a beauty show about types of German sausage from some wurst-makers association. It always gets 'reviewed' in the Radio Times (a listings magazine in the UK), and always very sarcastically.
So I wouldn't get near Eurotrash, it can only be to be taken the mickey out of.
Do agree Alan, Dave?

I haven't seen the show for a while but from what I remember it was mostly
about sexual oddities and such. It had it's moments but I agree with Mark,
I wouldn't participate unless you were comfortable with the inference that
you mated with monkeys as that's how it'll probably end up after editing.
The closest U.S comparable I can think of is "Talk Soup".

Wholeheartedly. This is a show that usually revolves around the most
outlandish customs from all over Europe in a kind of "let's all laugh at the
foreigners" sort of way. When people are interviewed, they are usually
dubbed over with stupid exaggerated accents from various parts of Britain.
Just about every second show (usually more) has a main feature about some
porn star or something, and there is ALWAYS much nakedness involved. It is a
piss take, and I would steer well clear of getting involved.
One particular feature was about a man who painted pictures using his own
excrement.

Whatever you do people please don't get involved. The sole aim of
this show will be to embarass and belittle Ape fans, and to try and

Pretty damn good for a movie that was essentially Bruce Dern and a bunch of

Yeah, most of the times that is the
case.
But instead of calling us "Trekies", they'll call
us "Apies."
Or something odd like that.
You never know who to trust, whether they want to
cover events in a respectible way, or just poke fun at it.
Thanks anyway Brian.

My thoughts exactly, which is why I fired off an email to the
researcher expressing my concern that they will cover POTA in true
Eurotrash style, which would be to belittle fans, embarass them and
somehow make some sort of sexual oddity connection (the mind
boggles!!). The reply I received seemed sincere but as Alex said 'you
never know who to trust'. The reply I got is as follows......
Dear Daniel
I was sorry when I read your email. Please can I assure you that the
show we are doing is a one off special centered entirely on monkeys
and apes and not just Planet of the Apes.
The show is light hearted and fun and not all of the content is of a
sexual nature and certainly the Planet of the Apes feature is not
intended to be so. Under no circumstances do we intend to belittle or
embarass anybody and we are certainly not loooking for any Eurotrash
type sexual connection with the piece.
As I Mentioned earlier, this is a one off special on monkeys and
apes. The theme was chosen because we go out close to the opening of
The Visitor. I am myself a fan of Planet of the Apes. If we do gently
poke a little fun out of some films, it is from the truly trashy
ones - Planet of the Apes DOES NOT fit into this category.
Yours sincerely

guide nor other review. It is universally dismissed as arrant TV nonsense.
It only gets made because Channel 4 has public money to produce programs
with challenging content. Any involvement is likely to be detrimental. As
for ms Palmara, she *would* say that, she is somewhat biased about her view
of Eurotrash.

.htmlSo I've got myself the POTA background screen with Attar looking at me. I've been looking at him a lot too and have noticed a group of rather 'artificial' looking vertical ridges on his forhead, just between the eyes. My guess is this is more than just charater design, but has something to do with genetic tampering. But I could be wrong - Jeff Doten

I would have to agree.
While the bad guys are always the more popular, the
females are the ones that always go up in value.
I believe a mint in package Princess Leih is worth
today about $500.00 last time I checked.

That's what I thought too. I snagged up the
Ari, as tempting as it was to get both the hero and baddy. I figured those
figs will be the most plentiful and I'd be more apt to find them again
later.

Thanks to any and all who

I have to agree. I enjoy that fact that it almost seems as if we do not
exist. Just take comfort in the fact that we're out there. I wonder what
they'll think of us after the new film is out. Will the old fans be
overshadowed by the new? Fine by me. Let them take all the flak. We'll go

Hey Brian,
Yes, Booth Colman was at the Shrine.
In fact, he had pictures of himself with one of your Dr. Zauis busts that he
signed.
I've heard Fox is interested in a
sequel for 2003, but of course that depends how well a movie does. I doubt there
will ever be another live-action "Apes" series but maybe a cartoon. TV animation
is often very good these days (Batman, Superman, etc.) and a new "Apes" cartoon
could be cool.
Tommy Lee Jones as an ape
would be great, but I'm sure he'd know what he'd be in for with Rick Baker
because of "Men in Black 1 and 2 and would turn it down! Remember when he did
Two-Face in the "Batman" movie?

Hi Bry, it's the other Bri here.
Yes, Mr Booth Colman is alive and well. I think Jeff said he was
at the Shrine APE show last weekend, and he visited our studio last year
(see attached) for an interview and a hand casting session. Really nice
guy. We used his hands for our Dr. Zaius mannequin, so there's a little
bit of both Zaius' in the final work. <http://apemania.com/DISPLAYS/MANNEQUINS/Orangs.htm>
I've heard talk of a sequel, but no talk of a series as of yet.
Jeff, what've you heard?
Tommy Lee as an ape? Not bad...

critic ("Halliwell's Film Guide"). He gave the "Apes" TV show a good entry
and said "the usual public indifference to quality merchandise resulted in a
quick cancellation". Even the British critics dug it! - - - Jeff K.
