The girls in L.A. have no
complaints. I'm the original, Franklin Schaffner directed, spruced up for the
30th Anniversary, 5.1 Dolby Digital, remastered classic here. As for the
Australian chicks, they have to swim over here to see me, so they're no longer
Australian.

P.S.: Tennis is for people who

Well, all the girls in Australia think Jeff is just right (but the
girls over here have lower standards).
How's the tennis going?

This is my
offical opinion of the TV series -- for any of you that care.
I don't
think the TV show was that good. It was too expensive and
complicated to do every week, and because of that the makeup suffered and
often looked bad. The scripts were also just not as good as they
could be.
But, I'm being kind because now the show is just nostalgia.
Roddy is gone and all that. It seems sort of cruel to beat up
on the TV show too much now. It is what it is. At least they
tried. Too bad it wasn't better and lasted longer, but then that's
what some girls in LA say about Jeff Krueger, so there.
The TV
show. . . . coming to DVD soon.

We're currently in a month-long
slew of birthdays of high profile "Ape"teurs (and would be "Ape"teurs). James
Cameron's birthday was August 16, Tim Burton's birthday was August 25. Chris
Columbus' is today (43). And Oliver Stone's is next Saturday (55). Important?
You decide!

I had a feeling that was going to happen. Rock and Roll movies never do too
good at the box office. I remember while KISS was selling out stadiums world
wide, the movie didn't do too good at all at the box office. That movie where
those kids wanted to go to a KISS concert. I forget the name. Which only goes to
show.
Rock Star was one bad choice for a movie. No matter who was the
director.
Tim Roth Rules the Planet again.

I don't know if I'll ever get to Classic stuff Jeff. I know Terry has tons
of the stuff as I do too. But there's always that chance You may have lots of
stuff on Classic that I don't. (which I wouldn't doubt) So if you would be

I had a feeling that was going to happen. Rock and Roll movies never do
too good at the box office. I remember while KISS was selling out stadiums
world wide, the movie didn't do too good at all at the box office. That movie
where those kids wanted to go to a KISS concert. I forget the name. Which only
goes to show.
Rock Star was one bad choice for a movie. No matter who was the
director.
Tim Roth Rules the Planet again.

According to "Variety", the DVD of
the new "Apes" is coming out 2 days before Christmas (Dec. 23?) . It'll have
more than 13 hours of bonus stuff with 2 discs for $30. Included will be an
interactive thingie where you can stop the movie to watch behind -the- scenes
(like the "Matrix" DVD). Fox is spending $10 million to advertise it. But isn't
2 days kinda short notice?

Yeah, if it's one thing I liked about Phantom Menace, it was the special
effects. The depth of the film wasn't really there, sort of like Burton's POTA.
Although I must admit I did enjoy Burton's POTA over Phantom Menace. While the
special effects were great in Phantom Menace, for me it just had too much
fantasy. Reminded me of Return of the Jedi. First two, SW1 and SW2 were the ones
I enjoyed the most.
Can't wait to see that Terminator Special Edition though!
POTA in December 23rd? Geeez. Well, better late than never I guess.

joke.
God forbid the day when they get a hold of

.html For those of you who don't know, Kim Hunter lives in New York City, not far
from the financial district. I hope and pray she is alright. Lower
Manhattan has been evacuated. So, chances are she's either in an upper
Manhattan hotel, or has left the island and gone to her son's house. I sent
her a telegram there. I tried to reach her by phone, but her number rings
only once, and both of her son's lines were either busy or off the hook --
Very understandable under the circumstances. You may remember that she's the
nervous type, and got very little sleep during the blackout at the Memphis
Festival, -- and that, obviously, cannot even begin to compare to this. Our
thoughts and prayers go out to her in this very trying time. <.html

dealing with it. But in the end I'm sure that all would agree that everyone is

I think both the DVD and VHs are
coming out Nov. 20. Zentertainment probably just got Dec. 23 date from
"Variety". It makes sense to release it early before people finish their
Christmas shopping. The VHS is rental only (meaning it costs about $100 a
copy) and people tend to be too busy around Christmas to watch much
movies.

If you're wondering why video
stores would pay about $100 a copy for VHS movies (such as the new "Apes") when
DVDs come out for around $25 the answer is Hollywood is helping phase out VHS.
Blockbuster announced they are reducing shelf space for VHS and increasing the
DVDs they rent. Anyone who visits Blockbuster knows DVDs are already accorded a
lot of space. Will VHS go the way of the laserdisc?

Well it could have been New York City, but the governor spent a lot
of time there so a nearby state capital works better. Let's see we
have Trenton, Harrisburg, Albany, and Hartford. Trenton probably fits
the best being southwest of NYC.

Well,
I just hope the descriptions of the war that Nostradamus went on to write are
not so coincidental.
I hope
our American friends realise the rest of the world is in shock too and I for one
am just lost for words.
Where
I work, people are talking about this all day. The lady I sit next to has
a brother who is on the list of 95 missing Aussies and the whole world will be
effected in many, many ways.
Originally I was hoping to take up collections of money for the victims
but I see BPay has already started this and they are better equipped than I (and
they know where to send the money!).
Best
wishes to all.

18 + 27 = 45. There is nothing implausible about Caesar being 45 years
old in BATTLE. And since Aldo in Conquest was turned into a chimp by
the movie's director the Aldo in Battle, a general, could have been in
his 30's. I think Mandemus moved into the armory the same year as
Conquest, because I think the nuclear war in BATTLE must have occurred
within weeks, even days, of CONQUEST. Kolp blamed Caesar's revolt for
the nuclear war, and I don't think that Caesar's ape revolt would have
lasted more than a few weeks or days without a nuclear war.

I just don't think it is possible to tie the POTA movie series into any of
the other POTA series without ignoring things that happen in one or the other.
But if you don't mind if someone takes pot shots at your timeline, why don't
you post it here? It may be interesting and there's probably no better
place to subject it to scrutiny. And it couldn't be worse than the Marvel
timeline.

The only prediction Nostradamus made that I can recall is....
In the year 2001 and 11 months,
poor DVD sales of apes remake convince men in suits,
that sequel to dreadful new version of PotA not required.

It's actually the anniversary of the 1978 Camp David Accords between
Egypt and Israel, (Arabs vs Jews), which upset a lot of Muslims if
I remember correctly. Bombings and attacks took place after those
peace initiatives were concluded in ways that most say benefitted the Isralies
more than the Arabs.

Thanks Dan and everyone else from across the pond for your well wishes. I saw
on the news last night that they played the American National Anthem at the
changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace (the first time they have ever
done that). It gave me chills. It is reassuring to know that most people
consider this a global disaster and not just an American one. Our lives will
all change because of this.

certainly not earthshaking). Looks similar to the TV show DVD graphic, with
a big ape head on top and small figures on the bottom. They will look good
together in stores. But why splash Wahlberg's name across it? He's the star
but he hasn't earned that kind of billing yet. I guess it's better than
having Zanuck's name there: "A Richard Zanuck Production based on the film
he greenlighted".

Happy Birthday to Oliver Stone, who
turns 55 today. He was always my favorite choice to do the new movie. The script
that was developed wasn't the greatest but I think he knew that too. If he had
concentrated on it it might have made a good film. "Cinefantastique" talks to
him about it in the current issue.
