"Invasion of the Apes" is a short story written by Luiz Adami, a
journalist from Brazil. He wrote a book called "The Only Good Human is a
Dead Human". He's been to the U.S. a couple times recently. He promoted the
book at Starcon '98 and was made up as an ape by Bill Blake, then we all
went to the Fox ranch. He's currently creating an "Apes" museum in Brazil.

An APES museum? In Brazil?! What's going to be it, Portuguese translations of the books and comics? Or, did you manage to get him a pair of Roddy McDowall's feet? That's worth going to Brazil for!

Hey, let's just all promote it among ourselves! Who's to know?
Who else? They're like that Banzai flick, you either get it or you don't. And if you didn't get it, it's doubtful you're going to watch it enough time to get it. You can lead a jackass to water but you can't make him like Ape movies.

I didn't say it was any good. I said it got at least one good review. I didn't even see it. I went across the way and watched it while Chuck was doing his speech then went back to Apes. Needless to say I wasn't enthralled.

That's all well and good, but I don't think any of us will be driving to
Brazil or that anyone plans on flying there anytime soon. I think Denver it
a better coice for us north Apemericans.
I think Page, Arizona would be the best place.

Well,
I can bet you they are going to want you to promote it to lots of people and
produce EVIDENCE (ie people's home and email addresses) then they will compile
master lists, sell these and you will never get a DVD.
Really, just keep sending them emails asking for a person's full name
(not an email handle) who is the contact person and a telephone number.
Tell them everyone on the group doubts their credibility so you contacted Fox
who have heard nothing about it and the executives at Fox want a contact
name.
If Fox
want to promote they will spend on the TV ads or posters and get more
value.
This
is a hoax, trust me.
At
least investigate thoroughly.

Cool, no problem bud.
It's water under the bridge.
I've been doing some work on the site, bringing the
old site back slowly but surely.
While this server seems to be okay, calima5021, the
site seems to pause when having too many people on all at once. So my search
goes on to find a better server. But until then
the site will return, not as loaded with files as before, but just enough to
entertain those who visit, as I continue to search for a better and
perminate server for the site.
Finding servers that can support huge media files
like mine is not easy, yeah their out there but most will charge you a life
saving for the service. But I'll find a better server soon enough. As technology
grows and gets cheaper, so does bandwidth charges on web servers.
I may just be a little beyond my time, or wahlet
for that matter. :o)

won't be until much later next year when I find a better server and have the
time to update it as offen as I use to. But never the less it is there for the
enjoyment.
It's now complete, AND I AM SPENT.

P.S. I picked a good day for this, it was rianing cats and dogs all day.

Does anyone have a shooting script from BENEATH that has all the names of
the mutants listed? The only script I have is one of the drafts of 'POTA
Revisited' and that referrers to Colley's character as "Negro". The first time I
saw a name for him was on the IMDB a couple of years back where they had him
listed as "Ongaro" (not Ono Goro) and Victor Buono's character as (I think)
"Adripopo". It's since been changed back to "Negro" and "Fat Man".
Can anyone shed some more light on this?

Natalie Trundy saying that while filming they referred to each other by
character names

Perhaps she's named Nova, but the name would never be spoken in the

Here's my take on the books:
"POTA as American Myth" (Greene) and
Sauseville's collectibles books are unique and worthy. But they're not for
everyone. If you're not into analyzing the films, Greene's book will leave you
cold. Sauseville's book is by it's nature pricey for a paperback and some people
could care less about collectibles.
The rest are variations on a theme : the
history of the saga. "Revisited" has the most info plus a lot of rare photos so
it's probably the best buy and it's only a couple bucks more than the others.
Haven't seen Pendreigh's (how are the photos, Rory?). Sounds like a good book
with new info; finally someone had the bright idea to talk to Blake Edwards. As
histories go, those two are probably the best.
"Unofficial Companion" and "Chronicles"(not
to be confused with the wonderous "Ape Chronicles") I would put in the beginners
catagory. Maybe as a gift to someone who remembers the flicks as a kid and the
new one piques their interest. Not hard to slog through, gives an overview,
including the comics, toys, etc. I liked that "Unofficial Companion" had the
author's opinions. It's kinda like talking to a friend about which episodes he
liked best. And it's very organised. You wanna know what reviews for "Conquest"
were like? You can find 'em fast. I guess it's an odd compliment but it's a
"bathroom book". It's fun to just look through for a couple minutes.
"Chronicles" is much more impersonal. I don't get the feeling the author even
likes "Apes". It comes across as an assignment, while "U.C." is more homey. The
author does write some of "Chronicles" but most of it is reprints of old
articles (good ones, including the famed issue of "Cinefantastique" that
interviewed everybody). Some of these articles are hard to find, so it's nice to
have them all in one place.
The easiest books to find seem to be
"Unofficial Companion" and "Revisited". But the amount of POTA books is not
overwhelming and I don't think it would put collectors out to get all of
them.

OK, I'm still getting e-mails from the POTA
street team (you know, where you can get a free DVD). Apparently they did this
for Fox's Adam West "Batman" movie DVD, and one of the "Ape" participants said
he enjoyed that one. Basically, the e-mails are of the "Invasion of the Body
Snatchers" variety, just gushing.. One guy mentioned the original was better but
that's about it. They are also having a poll. Not "Who's your favorite
character" or anything, just age and sex. So far the most respondants are
girls age 17 - 20 (probably the Wahlberg boosters; well, he IS cute!). This week

Celeb Phenomenon. I know it well. Even as I would talk more to Kim and the
comfort level would increase, a certain amount of it would remain. It's not
adrenaline. It must be akin to whatever brain chemical that makes you blush
around someone you like. It's not necessarily an attraction thing though.
It was happening to Russ with Adam West. No matter how cool you are you turn
into a muttering jackass. "Hello, Russ!", West would say. 'hi, batman...'
He'd be saying to himself, 'I'm cool! I own the Mach 5. My listeners think
my shit don't stink. I get more poonannie than I can handle.' But when it
came down to he was still 6 years old, and Adam West was still Batman. 'hi,
batman..' I'm sure Yvonne Craig would have had the same effect on me. But
it isn't a chemistry thing like pheromones. Apparently it has no effect on
people who don't know or identify with the Celebs in question. If I hadn't
been in a band I might still be a virgin today. But what they did to the
Batboat! It now has 3 wheels on it and stereo speakers in the fins. That's

Oh you may get dancers or
porn stars... But if you're an Apes fan and you start talking to Kim Hunter,
you're still seven years old and she's still Zira. Russ must be a huge
Batman fan. Before the Mach 5s started turning up on eBay he wanted to buy
the Batmobile. He even had his computer customized into the Batcomputer...

A new DVD player hits the market:
I friend told me at work that a new DVD player has
hit the market.
It's a DVD system that can record a VHS Tape to a
DVD, a music CD to CD, a VCD to CD, a CD data to CD and of course a
DVD to a DVD.
Retail is about a thousand dollars, but it's
amazing to see how far our technology is coming along.
Truely Ideal for exclusive VHS POTA Exclusives to
DVD huh?
With all the one time exlusive stuff I have on VHS,
(non official DVD releases) it would be great to offer these on a DVD instead of
a VHS.
God knows I'm tempted to buy it.
And I think I am. So be ready to get these ONE TIME
non DVD released exclusives on a DVD as well.

.html
I just sent this to Terry, guys, but I'm
also sending it to you so that you all have a better Idea about WEBSITE
BANDWIDTH.
Hey Terry!
Long time no hear!
I have both remake and original back online, not as
much as I had before but enough for now as I will continue to add over the next
few weeks.
My new server was a one shot deal at $180.00 for
one full year for 500 megs online. The only draw back is that when too many
people are on it, it then sends a message that the server is too busy and
to try again later. And that can be a major turn off to some visiters. But
on the other hand I was paying $120.00 A MONTH ON MY OLD SERVER. (it was
two separate servers at 60 dollars each per month)
My biggest problem, Terry, is that I have huge
multimedia files, so I need the huge space, both in MEGS and BANDWIDTH. and
Bandwidth is the major problem. Bandwidth is memory on a server, and all
servers only give you so much space a month. About 10-15 GIGS, and my
site takes up about 30 to 40 GIGS a month in Bandwidth and therefore the
charges begin to rise after 15 GIGS. About 5 to 10 dallors a
GIG.
As more hits occur on multimedia files, your
Bandwidth rises (that's the trick)
Add that up, and not only are you paying
monthly charges, BUT EXTRA CHARGES as well. And believe me it can get
costly, very costly.
So what i need is a server that can give me
about 300 MEGS online and 30-40 GIGS of
Bandwidth per month. That way I can pay a flat monthly fee and not be hit with
extra charges every month.
If you have a site that has pictures and text
files, you'll never have any problems, but run a Multimedia Site, and believe
me, that's a whole other ball game.
Good to hear from you Terry.
And thanks for the help. If you run into any good
servers with what I need, please let me know, and I'll jump on it in a
heart beat!
Best bud.

I'm affraid I'm on the same boat as you
Jeff.
I don't even own a nintendo. But willing to buy a
game system just to play Planet of the Apes. Play Station or Play Station 2 is
the question. So I'm waiting for the game to be released before I buty the
system itself.
I really hate PC and Video Games, I always in the
past playing with friends got my butt kicked, so I don't care for them.
:o)
But when I get that Play Station you can bet I'll
get the Game Shark, or whatever it's called. (It's a cheat system so I kick that
game in the ass) :o)
Thanks for the heads up!

My friend told me they were going on sale at Best
Buy today, so I'll be looking into them tomorrow. If there not in your area now,
just know that there on there way. I've also found some on ebay just now to geat
an idea, found some with a single drive as low as $599.00. Sure beats
$1000.00. Although the $1000.00 one has dual drives so you can burn them once
they're recorded.
It seems they also recoard on CD-Rs and CD-RWs, and
play perfectly on any DVD players. Although I would prefer DVDs. (more space to
store)
This is wild.
Sorry for the off topic gang, but in the end the
equation is POTA Fan Collectible.

I'm guessing that the PC version and the Playstation version will be quite
the same. Are you sure that the Gameboy Advance game is 40 dollars? They
are usually only 25-35. The Gameboy Advance game will probably be more of an
Action game, unlike the PC which is Adventure, although those 2 genres can go

Whenever Sega comes out with a system it only plays their games. ie Dreamcast.
Though games for Nintendo and Sony seem to have a lot of crossovers. I believe Gamecube is a Sega system. I don't no much about Sega systems, because I never got one for that reason.

Yes, the PC and Playstation games are listed at $29.95 on Amazon.com and
the Gameboy is $39.95. That's $40 in my book.

.htmlThe savings continue. I got the Tower video exclusive "Apes" lunchbox for
$5 (regularly $20). All their "Ape" stuff has red tags on them. Suncoast
still has their stuff 25% off. Actually, it's really sad. The economy is in
the toilet, it's not just "Ape" stuff. I hope things turn around but it's a
vicious circle. People don't spend and recession becomes a self fulfilling
prophecy. Buy, buy, buy "Ape"

.html By saying that the Sega system on play 'their games' do you mean only Sega
developed games? I can tell you right now that that is not true.
Like I said, I don't know much about them. Anyway until there's a clear-cut
winner, I'll stick with my 64. I'm not going to splash out a couple few
hundred buck unless it's going to be around for a while. And of course this
has to have a version of Apes! I didn't even get a 64 until Goldeneye had
been out for some time. I saw my nephew and brother playing it and had to
have one that week. The last game system I had before that played Missile
Command, Moon Patrol and Pac-Man. <.html

.htmlI had an Atari 5200 in 1983 in the States when we lived in Ohio for a while.
It was state of the art and cost about $800.
Funny how things change.......

Indeed. I feel like part of my childhood is missing because nobody ever made
"Planet of the Apes" for the ZX Spectrum.

.htmlHey, the "Apes" actually went up on the box office charts this week, from
#27 to #26. "Jurassic" took #27. But "Apes" is still at the $178 million
range. Less than $1 and 1/2 million to go before it hits $180 mil. Should
take about a month.
