Here's a pick on the DVD options.
Sorry, no sneak peeks on the DVD features. I'm still dealing with this XP and haven't been able to capture video because my Video Capturer is not compliant with XP.

And I really do like the XP format better than the Windows 98. It just sucks because you can't load most of your software and hardware. But it is visualy and constructively better than Windows 98.

Oh! I feel so torn! :o)

But I'll come up with something. The SW trailer was easy  because all I had to do was convert it with one of the only softwares that I have that does work with XP. Thank God! That's one of my best softwares, and the one I use to covert vidoes to Real Player and Mpeg.

But capturing video, I'm still battling that one. That's why the POTA Original Trailers are not on line yet. I have to recreate them because the old ones had the old domain name at the intro.

But anyway, here's the DVD-ROM Menu.
Pretty fantastic, you can see the whole movie, and at the sametime see the script and storyboard.
    Among a few goodies more.

The goodies on this whole DVD are endless.
I've been in ape heaven this weekend! :o)

    Best.

For those looking for the second line of POTA 2001 figures, get 'em while their hot!

The last three figures, KRULL, COMMANDER, and the Space Chimp with pod (hell of a complex name) are at this web site.

Just type "Planet of the Apes" and you'll see them. Two pages worth of figures.

P.S. I would get them but right now I have a costly computer and DVD recorder to deal with. But worth it for me.

I picked up a set of these off eBay a few weeks ago. I got a pretty decent
deal, only about $10 per figure. Overall, I like these figures in a goofy
sort of way. Like most of Hasbro's products, they could have been better but
for whatever reason they appeal to me. I may post a review with pics one of
    these days.

Interesting... which dictionary are you getting that from? Mine
(Webster's) has only the first definition. In any case, I'm sure they're
using the "of or relating to time" definition on the site, as "temporary
research" makes no sense. POTA is a time-travel film, and so the term
"temporal" would most make sense in referring to time. But, obviously,
it's open to interpretation if you want to view it the other way.

Man, you wouldn't believe the things he says. Including about those who have commented about the movie.
I tell you, the man is a freaken genius, he has such an amazing way at looking at things. And the way he says it, it really does make you think.

Not only is it great, but very educational, you (in general) can learn a lot from Tim Burton. Best Commentary ever.

You too?  Not only is my Monster 3D vid card I had in my old machine not XP compatable (no surprise there) My new scanner that I just bought last spring isn't either, and doesn't look like it ever will be.  Think about it.  What better way to make you buy new peripherals?  I'm luck it has a driver for my old Epson printer.  Too bad that's the one thing it does work with.  It hasn't printed Yellow for a long time and I could have used a new one.  Damn you Bill Gates!  Damn you all to Hell!

Anyhoo,  don't know if anyone has heard yet, but Medicom has plans to release the Ape figures in the USA through Diamond comics next year.  They are repackaging and reworking a few of the characters for this US release.  They should retail for $9.99.

Also, the guys over at SOTA effects group have secured a license with Fox to produce a line of collectible resin busts (finished) of the classic apes.  I've been told there will be a dozen or so characters in 6 inch forms.  I've seen one prototype and they look to be nice.

It makes sense if you accept the explanation of Thade's revolt to start

opening ever; "Jurassic Park 2" made $72 million it's opening weekend, the
record holder. It's estimated "Harry Potter" made $93 million this weekend.
Even if they are off by a little bit it's obvious the little tyke is the
most powerful creature on Earth. Apes and dinosaurs must step

I believe it was 25 million according to the daily boxoffice report. But I don't look at it as first day nor weekend. But rather overall worldwide total when it finaly leaves the theatre. And I'm sure every movie studio does as well. :o)

And overall, of course Potter will win. I'm just happy that the movie was good enough to spawn a sequel.

Same here. I just got the best 7 detailed ones and called it a day. Now I'll buy the whole lot at $10 a pop.

I just saw the commercial during "Law and Order: Crimal Intent."  Looks to me as if Fox is trying more to sell the DVD as the most technologically advanced "on the planet," and not so much the movie.  It's kind of embarrassing, I think.  Poor POTA.

November 3978 (a 365-day year) is exactly 9/10ths through the year,
subtract 23.215 from 3978.90 and you get 3955.685! In other words, if
the same sort of thing that happens to Virdon's ship (zipping "x"
number of LightYears in "y" number of "retro-temporal days") also
happens to Taylor's ship, then the actual EARTH-TIME date that Taylor
arrives is about the 251st day of 3955.

I thought it was really enjoyable, however it did strike me as a somewhat
inferior version of the Tomb Raider games. The puzzles were not particularly
challenging but some of the landscapes were reasonably cool. The voices
could have been better - they appeared to hire some "voice" actors instead
of "proper" actors and it just sounded cheap.

As for a sequel, I can't see it happening. The game sneaked onto shelves
without much of a fanfare, it's been years in development and nearly didn't
make it out at all, and the reviews have not been particularly good. I'd
like a sequel but I think it's unlikely - they'd also have to put a bit more
work into the puzzle side of things.

Hey! The voices were done by a friend of mine. Watch it!

Yes, the games are getting zero fanfare. I have literally never seen it on
a store shelf. And believe me, I've looked. Toys R Us had them advertised on
sale and when I got there they weren't out and someone had to go to the back
room to get one. Even this weekend when the DVD is being prominently
advertised no ads mention the game. Maybe stores got burned by the toys and
aren't bothering (if anyone has seen the 2nd wave of toys in a REAL store

Nice of you to say it, Lynne.  I always enjoy your posts. I only wish there were more of them. I hope you splitters who sign up for this group and then want to bail when get a dozen two line emails stuck around long enough to read this.  Some of us live for this.  I'll sift through a hundred lame emails for just one juicy ape tidbit!

Maybe stores got burned by the toys and
aren't bothering (if anyone has seen the 2nd wave of toys in a REAL store
      let us know!).                 - - - Jeff

I read the games box at Circuit City, but I didn't buy it because I'm just not into playing computer games -- rather read a good book or watch a good movie.  Anyway, I think the reason this is getting no fanfare is because it was started before the new movie got made, and now that the new POTA is out, Fox wants us to put Classic Apes up on the shelf someplace.

Well, I'll have them posted after midnight with a whole new countdown to 2003. Now the only problem is that they didn't come out that great. the recording is so so. So don't expect great quality on the commercials. The broadcast that night on Fox was pretty bad. But better than nothing, I guess.

Sometimes trailers can be a bit tricky.
I'm sure that Anakin is mad in that scene because Obi-Wan is keeping him from freeing his mother. What other reason would he be on Tatooine?

With the love for the Queen, and love for his mother. Anakin is going to kick some Jedi Council Butt.

      Dude!

Can you check "The Interrogation" for Bill Blake's scene? Galen and Virdon
steal a cart and abandon it to visit Galen's mom. The cart is Bill Blake's
(who plays a chimp) and he's questioned about it. I think it's half-way
through the episode. Are there really 16 chapter stops?
      Thanks.
