Hey, I'm willing to keep an open mind, but the scene at the end of the film just doesn't suggest Taylor & Nova riding for the days or weeks it would take to reach the statue. Do you have any background info we don't know about?
But does it really matter anyway? You believe what you makes you happy and I'll believe what makes me happy. There really is no right or wrong. It's just a movie.

Hehe. She looks cute to me. I think she's as cute as Ari actually. Wish they would have given her character some more screen time, but Tiffany Smith, who played the part BTW, did a good job in her little role.

.html Actually, when we started the sculpts (we went through 3 versions before ending up with this one)  we had castings of Maurice's original ZAIUS prosthetics as well as James Whitmore's and tons of fotos, but no Maurice lifecasts.  We have one now, also Buck Kartalian's (so a Julius is in the works), but didn't obtain either until long after the Zaius mannequin had been finished.

We'll make as  many as fans and collectors want.  These are not limited edition items.  The idea is to make them available to fans anytime and everywhere.

What about Lisa Marie. Now she can peel my banana anytime. (Hey if I didn't say it someone else would have.)

Oh, I bought the TV series, too.  But, you know I've only watched half of the shows and I got so bored I don't know when I'll get around to watching the rest.  Some like them, others don't.  I don't like them, but I don't hate them.  They are what they are, but for me they're not very good.  About two thousand light years away from the original film, the series seems more inspired by BATTLE than any of the other movies.

My admiration for the TV series is based more on nostalgia rather than quality or with continuity with the movies. If the show was made today the way it was then, it would never have lasted past the first episode.

I kinda liked the hair. Sort of roughed up, but I still liked it for the most part. As for the makeup, the only real part of it I didn't like was that beard thing they had going on, and no hair at all on the neck.

Galen and Burke are cool. But for some reason Virdon gets on my nerves. Not crazy about Urko either. He's such a moron, he never poses a credible threat.

I can see what you're saying, but I liked the friendship forged between
Galen, Burke and Virdon. And I kind of liked the way Urko was a bit over the
top. But to each his own. I still think anyone who hasn't seen the series yet
owes it to themselves to at least check it out.

I think the show had a certain charm and I thought the cast were perfect for their roles. Cliched stories but there were some good scripts, too, considering the lack of respect sci-fi got in those days. I'd rather watch the show than some of the new movies I could rent.                                                    - - - Jeff

My admiration for the TV series is based more on nostalgia rather than quality or with continuity with the movies. If the show was made today the way it was then, it would never have lasted past the first episode.

I'm not a trekkie anyway, but I can't believe the contempt Paramount
shows for the "Star Trek" fans that have contributed billions over the
years. Those movies are on DVD for the full $30 price, not even trailers.
Now that they've soaked the fans, they're coming out with "special
editions". Right, right, everybody does that. But I picked up the "Motion
Picture" special edition used for $10 and it looks terrible. The print is
filthy, the documentaries are flimsy. The TV show is 2 to a disc so it'll
cost a fortune for fans to get them all. Looks like things are improving
with the "Next Generation". They're coming out in season sets and supposedly
they're going to be remastered. Whatever we think of Fox they treat the fans
right when it comes to DVD. Be glad "Apes" wasn't made by Paramount.

Well, I'm not much of a trekkie myself. But I have to admit. Those Next
Generation Episodes are truely excellent. Can't say much for the Next

        well told. I love them!

I didn't get into it.  I started to watch again after Voyager, but lost interest after a while.  When they brought 7 of 9 on board I started watching again.  Then I started to watch the old reruns of STTNG.  It was quite good.  But whenever a 1st season show comes on I can see why I did get into it.  It just didn't live up to the original.  Though in later seasons I think they were better then the original.  Which when it first aired I thought was great for the most part.  I heard they only canceled it because some big wigs at NBC's wife wanted Gunsmoke back on.  Just goes to show What kind of scum run the entertainment biz.  In that instance the needs of the one out weighed the needs of the many.

FYI Gunsmoke was on CBS, not NBC. Gilligan's Island was the show canceled to bring Gunsmoke back. It was William Paley's, the founder and then CEO of CBS, favorite show. Back the the ratings only measured total Households. There were no qualitative demographics. Based on that system and the very low ratings Star Trek was getting, NBC was justified for canceling it.

I have to put my 2 cents in here, even if I'm not a guy.  All the female apes looked good, with the exception of Thade's sister.  It was her who was having a bad hair day.  Why did the females all look much more human than their male counterparts?  So we didn't get offended by the hinted attraction between Leo and Ari?  As for Daena!  Don't get me started!!!!!!!  All the other humans had looked dirty and greasy, yet her hair looked like she just left the salon.  Did you catch when she reached up and touched Leo's face towards the end?  "You came...."  There was some dirt on her hand but the fingernails were perfectly manicured.  The closeups on her face... the dumb looks... guess they were supposed to reflect innocence?  If she had anymore collagen injections into her lips... her face would've prolly exploded!

Guess the movie was trully male oriented, because they managed to sneak in yet another stereotypical blonde.  Kinda makes me glad I'm a brunette!!!!!

Hehe. She looks cute to me. I think she's as cute as Ari actually. Wish they would have given her character some more screen time, but Tiffany Smith, who played the part BTW, did a good job in her little role.

I don't care for that hair style.  But then again I thought all the chimpettes had bad hair.  Many didn't like their makeup (they really should have done something with Leeta's awful lower jaw, and Lisa Marie's teeth!), but that hair!  All wrong.  Ari's hair was okay in some of the publicity photo's But it was usually a windswept mass in the film.  And speaking of Nova and Daena, Nova had a wild, primitive sort of beauty.  Deana was running through jungles and deserts looking like a super model in a Conan movie.  I've heard more than one critic ask, where'd she get the lip gloss?
Perhaps it was rendered wild boar fat?  Hey, if Leo's beard never grows, why not?

          All right guys…..

In all honesty, for manly qualities, I would choose the apes.
Wahlberg is nowhere. Flat. Heston is definitely a talented actor,
but not my type. Appears self-absorbed. But you take the
sensitivity of the chimps, the influence of the orangs, and the
protection of the gorillas and you come up with some attractive
          qualities. (Add a little Limbo….. )

That plus local stations aired it at a much earlier hour, 6 or 7PM,
so it was accessable to more viewers. Also, It was canceled before
man walked on the moon. Once that happened, people may hav been more
accepting of the concept of space travel.

You have to admit that Voyager and Enterprise have never hit the high
water mark that TNG did. DS9 came close but the orginal and TNG are
          realy the gold standard.

I think Lolo's hair looks fine. You have to keep in mind that she's an ape of course. I think you guys are basing your hair-style judgment on humans a little too much. Ape hair is a bit different than human hair. It's really more like a mix between fur and hair, kinda, with an underneath layer of shorter fur and long hair extending past that. Besides, I never liked super-model hair-styles. I like the roughed-up I just got up really early look. ;o)

Hi everyone. The original Planet Of The Apes is still my favorite
SciencE Fiction of all time and some of the things that made this
movie truly magic for me was the inside of the ship. Those opening
shots when the camera pulls back from Taylor and you hear his
footsteps on the steel deck were great. I loved the way they did the
interior it was simple but effective and cool looking. The ultra plush
control seats. The clock which was a cool enough design to be timeless
and the bunks/suspended animation chambers. Any more shots of these
            anywhere?

The other  amazing thing to me was the opening shot of the stars going
by the windows. What a great effect!!!!! and I've never seen it
            duplicated.
Does anybody have any more info on these topics

You have to admit that Voyager and Enterprise have never hit the high
water mark that TNG did. DS9 came close but the orginal and TNG are
            realy the gold standard.

No, they haven't.  The last three years of TNG were very good and I was sad to see the series go, but nothing has so far topped the original series.  I used to watch them when they were on NBC (Friday nights at 10).  So, I got a good memory of the sixties.  I can remember buying one of the ship model kits and a paper being in it asking you to write to NBC and ask them not to cancel Star Trek.  If NBC had known then how many guys were watching the show thay never would have cancelled.

I like the roughed-up I just got up really early look. ;o)

How about James Franciscus?   He's kind of like "Heston Lite."

I like the roughed-up I just got up really early look. ;o)

The clock numbers are a blue/white while the Back to the Future Clock has red.
                  Similar though.

                  All right guys…..

In all honesty, for manly qualities, I would choose the apes.
Wahlberg is nowhere.  Flat.  Heston is definitely a talented actor,
but not my type.  Appears self-absorbed.  But you take the
sensitivity of the chimps, the influence of the orangs, and the
protection of the gorillas and you come up with some attractive
                  qualities.  (Add a little Limbo….. )

I think Lolo's hair looks fine. You have to keep in mind that she's an ape of

No no no no no. That is not what I'm saying. Sure, there are some chimps
with longer hair. Binobos come to mind . . . But, what I'm taking about, and
what other's have said as well is this Janet Jackson thing. Other's have
said, and quite rightly I think, that Burton has this kind of Edward
Scissorhands / Robert Smith looking characters running through his films and
that's where it came from. But I like Zira's hair style. It's perfect for
female chimps. It has nothing to do with humans hair. As far as Ape Hair
goes no ape has bangs. So if Zira's hair seems a little long in back for and
ape then Ari's is too long in front. And Nova's (ape) is just too long
                  period.

Okay, folks, this is the best I can do.  I hope clicking on what I'm sending gets you to what I'm looking at.  One of you guys with better computer skills than me can turn it sideways, blow it up a little, and put it next to Cornelius's map.  I hope anyway.

I know know this won't change any minds, but what the hell.
