His real name is Cuppa.

Cuppa T.

His friends call him T Bag. What does he drink? T.

That's very witty.

Patrick, with all your obvious intelligence and insight you couldn't
determine that T is a male?

Good LORD!

I am feeling a sense of deja vu.....and weren't we only just discussing
someone a lot like Patrick in many ways? What was his name again?

Michael

What was Burton dreaming? Whatever it was seemed to have encouraged him to
spank the poor old monkey.

Or he could just not bother about making a profit - that's what makes me suspicious about his true intentions.

I thought he nixed the idea because he decided it wasn't right of him to "profit" from doing so (selling dvds).

He could sell them at a loss if it'll make him feel better.

    Hello, Mr. Whitty.

As Jeff had said, if it's copyrighted, It wouldn't be right screwing around
with it. And so I'd rather not. But my tech skills are alive and well thank
    you.

And just to clue you in, I have Star Wars Episode II and Spider-Man on DVD.
Along with T.V. Trailers, Movie Trailers, Behind the scenes, Music Videos
that I made and Official Music Videos. All in excellent quality.
All made by yours truely. :o)

Is it for sale? No. It's for persoanl use until the official DVD is released
so I can buy and enjoy like everyone else. And like everyone else I paided
to see both movies at the cinema.

So are my tech skills intact?
    Indeed they are. :o)

    Love,
    Al

There was some interesting "Star Wars" stuff on www.comingsoon.net that
some people might like to know. Besides, there aren't any insults in it.
Straight from the horse's mouth, George Lucas. He said that the DVDs of the
originals won't have the original versions, only the fiddled -with versions.
And that's still up in the air. For example, he says Natalie Portman is
going to shoot some stuff for "Return of the Jedi". In short, we haven't
even SEEN the versions that will be on DVD, so I guess purists will have to
    hold on to their VHS.
People who hate the new "Star Wars" prequels will be envious of 2 certain
robots. Lucas said that C-3PO and R2-D2's memories will be erased in the
next one and they won't remember what happened (so I guess their ballyhooed
    first meetings don't mean much).
Also, he said "Indiana Jones 4" won't shoot until probably 2004, so Fox
doesn't have to worry about slotting "Apes 2" that year.
And since we're on the topic, "Clones" passed $200 million this weekend but
they say it's slowing down and probably won't make as much as "Episode One".
"Spidey" has made $334 mil in 25 days and is already #6 on the all-time
list. Even "Insomnia" made $26 m. so there's money for everyone. With all
the options available, people still love to go to the movies!

Oh, I forgot to mention the best part. Lucas says when C-3PO's memory is
erased, Obi Wan screams," You cut out his brain, you bloody Sith!" Lucas
felt that if Burton could turn a profit on that junk, he should insert POTA
lines too. OK, it's not true. Lucas copies no one. Etc. - - -

A friend at work has that Spidey bootleg and said it sucks (he didn't go
to the theatre). And there was even an article in "Entertainment Weekly"
that the bootleg is poor quality. So don't be envious of Alex. You should
feel sorry for him that he has to put up with such poor quality.

Jeff, buddy, If only you knew how great this quaily is. :o)
Kazaa.com and the others are not the only places to find movies.

Just to let you know, I got both of these outside of the internet.
The internet ones were in poor quality, that much is true.

    Best.

How do I know that's true, sir? Perhaps if you sent me a copy I could
judge for myself. Certainly I'd believe my own eyes. In fact, if you were to
include the uncut "Battle" I would be even more tempted to open the envelope
and take a peek at "Spidey" (just to validate your opinion of course). And a
DVD of the cartoons, I would certainly open the envelope for that, and look
at the Spidey as a favor to you and let the group know your claims are more
than just talk. Otherwise, perhaps my comments hit to close to the bone and
you are covering up that the quality really ISN'T that good. It's your call:
DVDs for me or your reputation. Etc. - - - Jeff

I don't think he'd deny that. I always thought he said one of the big influences on SW was the Saturday morning serials such as those mentioned by James. At least that's the way I alwasy heard it...

Okay, here's the deal. Out of all of my Persoanl POTA DVD's, I'll make a
      freebee for the e-group.

      1. POTA 2001 exclusive footage (not included in the official DVD)
      2. POTA Toons
      3. POTA Battle UNcut version.

You can only pick one of these three.
The winner of the three will be offered to the e-group FOR FREE!
All you need to do is send me your mailing address at: calima5021com@...

I will not make a profit, and I will send a free copy to any who ask on this
e-group. BUT FIRST, a vote will be take. What will it be?!

I have a funny feeling it will be, BATTLE UNcut. But never the less, put in
your vote. NO BULLSHIT, DVD Blanks are now only down to a couple of bucks a
piece, and I'm doing all of you a favor as a POTA fan to another.

And if it doesn't play on your DVD players, it will play on a DVD-ROM, I
promise you that. Persoanly it plays on both my players, DVD player and
      DVD-ROM.

And in return, you can all name your first borns after me. :o)

Uncle Owen must also loose his memory as by the time of 'A New Hope' he buys
C3PO from the Jawas but doesn't seem to recognise him even though he owned
      him in Ep 2.

Man, I was thinking the same thing!
      How could he not know.

By the time this prequel is finished, there's going to be more loop holes in
Star Wars than in Planet of the Apes.

      GO GEORGE GO! :O)

That's a toughie. I've been waiting for the talk show interviews I missed
forever. But the Cartoons sound way cool. And I have everything but the
talk shows. I don't really care about Battle. Never liked that movie. The
Cartoons sound cool, but I haven't seen them since they aired, and I can't
remember if they suck or not. You pick. You've seen 'em all. You know
what's got playability and what doesn't.

Over at www.aintitcoolnews.com they're saying that Lucas is going to add
Jar Jar to "A New Hope", apparently not a joke. Back when the "Star Wars"
Special Eds came out, the local paper said they could do a new edition of
POTA and put real apes over the actors. Etc. - - - Jeff

Persoanly it plays on both my players, DVD player and
      DVD-ROM.

Everyone so far has a different pick.

Well, let's see what happens buy the end of the week, we'll rally up the
      toll.

      So far:

      Battle: 1
      2001: 1
      Toons: 2

      Who will win?

Where's, Mel Brooks, when you need him.

LOL Actually, I have no freakin idea what I was doing in '97. I was 21 then and started taking real advantage of the fact that I could buy all the beer and JD I could drink without having to get a fake ID. At least that's what I'm told... I don't really remember much of that year. :o)

Then why did you offer the DVDs to everybody Alex?

Is it your perrogative to change your mind?

I just can't believe you went public telling everyone what you planned and
then when you said there was about a week to go, there is this total
backflip. No apology, just a statement that was essentially saying you

        weeks on end.

Nah, he would have the master copy with Director Com and deleted scenes.

And stop picking on Alex, he's really cool and he's working on some great
DVDs for all of us and making no profit from them.

What's that you say? He IS intending to profit from us and if not he will
just shelve the idea? TREASON! Alex isn't like that.

        Al,

You should get people to cover postage and the cost of the blanks.

I have a zone 4 player (still have not got aroud to "de-zoning" it) so I
doubt they will play on mine anyway, but thanks for the offer (that's more
        like the Alex I know).

You really need to cover costs and to the rest of you out there, even if he
does not request it you should send Al a few buck - just enough so as he
does not profit and get arrested!

Now, by the way, I only have one taker for the Power Records tapes. Any
        more?

        Michael

Okay, here's the deal. Out of all of my Persoanl POTA DVD's, I'll make a
        freebee for the e-group.

        1. POTA 2001 exclusive footage (not included in the official DVD)
        2. POTA Toons
        3. POTA Battle UNcut version.

You can only pick one of these three.
The winner of the three will be offered to the e-group FOR FREE!
All you need to do is send me your mailing address at: calima5021com@...

I will not make a profit, and I will send a free copy to any who ask on this

your vote. NO BULLSHIT, DVD Blanks are now only down to a couple of bucks a
piece, and I'm doing all of you a favor as a POTA fan to another.

And if it doesn't play on your DVD players, it will play on a DVD-ROM, I
promise you that. Persoanly it plays on both my players, DVD player and
        DVD-ROM.

was it '97 or '98 when the group started? I'm sure it was '97.

It says '98. Just a few weeks after I copyrighted the first draft of my
screenplay according to this. Coincidence, or something more? Funny, but it
looks like I didn't join until 2000. To think of all the years I wasted on

Yeah, I want to change my vote to the Cartoons.  Somehow I think that the 2001 extras may be more of the same.  Seems like most of the interviews and specials are.  And I doubt we'll ever see the cartoons make it to DVD.  Count me in for the blank, burrning and postage as well.

        WORD: succinct \sek singkt'\ (adjective)

        : characterized by clear, precise expression in few words;
        concise and terse
: Archaic: encircled as if by a girdle; girded

I think that is excellent, Eileen. A clue? More to come? Hmmm.

(That was left pretty open-ended, too.....) More pods? "Time

Okay, this conversation appears to be dying but here's my opinions:

        Good: Danny Elfman's music.
Bad: The make-up was abysmal. No expression, limited
articulation/speech, and let's not talk about the female hairstyles.
Good: I thought the ending was one of the best-executed scenes in the
        film.
Bad: Shame it didn't actually make any sense.
Bad: Shoehorning in of tributes to the original film. They all felt
forced. And to be honest, the original film really doesn't need to be
        associated with this mince.
Bad: Not one interesting character in the movie. Leo was never in the
same league as Taylor, in fact pretty much all the characters were
2-dimensional and uninvolving. I didn't appreciate Limbo much, but it
appears that all blockbusters have to have the standard goofy comic
        relief character.
        Good: The opening titles.
Good: The spaceship scenes at the beginning, i.e. until Leo went
        through the wormhole.
Bad: The complete lack of a well-structured story.
Bad: The fact that someone like Burton, whom I had faith in, could
        produce something like this.
Bad: The sets. Totally claustrophobic and never looked like anything
        other than movie sets.
Good: Linda Harrison's cameo. Heston's would have been good but for
        the "damn them" line.
Good: The idea of the apes being able to leap long distances. A
logical extension of their evolution, I would have thought.
Bad: The execution of the above idea. The leaping apes ended up just
        looking silly.
Bad: The ape army charging towards the spaceship at the end. Should
have been good, but again some poor effects (similar to the leaping
        apes) let it down.
Bad: Pacing. In the original, the long desert trek meant something. In
the remake, cinemagoers had barely taken their seats before we were in
        Ape City.
Good: Thade's cowering under the equipment at the end, defeated. Shame
the ending blew it out their arse in this respect.

I'd have thought that yes, it is Alex's prerogative. If Alex said he
was making these things, it was a favour, or a bonus for all of us. He
was certainly never under any obligation to do so, so I think that the

He certainly borrows from multiple sources. The original Star Wars is a
mixture of cowboys (Han Solo), Romans (nearly everyone + the back-story),
jet fighter dogfights (X-wing pilots), and medieval knights (Darth Vader).
The droids stand in for the Roman era slave class. No one thinks it is
evil or tries to free them, they are just part of society.

Episode one is a collection of stereotypes (Asians, blacks, Jews). I'm
surprised Lucas doesn't get criticized more on that.

I thought this would be simple.

Everyone so far has a different pick.

Well, let's see what happens buy the end of the week, we'll rally up the
        toll.

        So far:

        Battle: 1
        2001: 1
        Toons: 2

        Who will win?

Where's, Mel Brooks, when you need him.

        I prefer, LAWGIVER. :o)

If you're interested, please send your mailing address to mail@... .  You will receive a supply of custom made postcards with Ursus and Urko holding placards either side of Thade, saying ''Apes sequel now'' and ''Unfair to Thade'' to distribute and send in to fox. Please join up and get everyone you know to join up as well. After all, a letter writing campaign doesnt do much good if nobody sends anything in. Let's let fox know they really do have an audience eager to see more apes!

If you have questions on the details of this campaign, you can write John Roche here john.rochea1freenet.co.uk@...

Let's all try to help out with this to get fox off their slow POTA sequel producing ass! :o)

        Okay.
Seeing how everyone is so devided on this, I'll offer all three to the
e-group. And out of the three, you can choose one.

        2001

Absolutely - I still buy old records occasionally so I made sure that
the last time I bought a new music system it also had a turntable!
(Usually if I buy a record that I'm likely to listen to a lot I copy

I agree; the cartoons are a long shot on DVD. Probably an official release of "Battle" uncut is more likely. But I already voted. Etc.                - - - Jeff

EVERYTHING was left open-ended. The only thing that came to a conclusion
was Krull; and since Ari buried him and in the next shot he's unburied,
maybe he's still alive, too. The only thing I got out of Heston's line is an
inside joke. He knows more astronauts will come because they always do. He's
Heston, so he should know. Ha ha.Etc. - - Jeff

I don't know about that.  I WANT them to take their time this time.  I think one of the biggest factors screwing up the last one was that impossible shooting schedule.  A petition to make a sequel is fine.  But I don't care how long it takes to make a good one.  Conversely I don't care if it comes out tomorrow if it sucks.

Really? Well, I approached her back even before "Behind the POTA" so maybe
she's gotten into the spirit since then. Joe Russo told me she took his
co-author (what's his name? Not Ed Gross, the third one) to the POTA 2001
permiere. Kim hadn't been invited and didn't particularly want to go, but at
their urging she called and got the invite. She also did book signings for
them. Not a bad lady. Etc. - - Jeff

Make that two.  Even though Battle is one of my least favorites, I'd like to
        see the extra footage.

I'd like to hear Alex's opinion on this.  He's the only one who's see all three.  He know what's worth watching and what isn't.  I don't want to sit through Battle to see a three minute scene with the alpha omega.  It's not worth it to miss seeing the cartoons, if they've stood the test of time and hold up well, or good interviews if they have a lot to offer that isn't covered in the other specials.

The downside would be they'd think people actually liked the movie (and I can probably count on one hand the people I know who DID like it, maybe on one finger - - and you know which finger). I'm sure Ol' Zanuck will make them see the light. Etc.                  - - - Jeff

John Roche, editor of the UK mag Simian Scrolls has asked me to ask everyone here if they could join a letter/post-card campaign to get fox to speed up and/or ensure that a POTA sequel is made. After all, a letter writing campaign doesn’t do much good if nobody sends anything in. Let's let fox know they really do have an audience eager to see more apes!

If you have questions on the details of this campaign, you can write John Roche here john.rochea1freenet.co.uk@...

Let's all try to help out with this to get fox off their slow POTA sequel producing ass! :o)

I think what his talking about is Thade's stiff upper lip. True, Tim Roth is

much you can doo with a big nose like that, and Rick Backer told them so.
Not to mention Chuck eagle beak. It's like they're wearing one of those

And half the time Thade is speaking through gritted teeth, so there's very
        little of that.

          Here's how's it's going to work:

For the month of JUNE, I'll be shipping out Battle UNcut for those who
          request.

For the month of JULY, I'll ship out the POTA Toons, for those who request.

And for the Month of AUGUST, I'll ship out POTA 2001, for those who request.

Only one request per e-groupy. :o)

That way everyone is happy, and I can keep my sanity all at the same time.

So for those who want there one time request as Battle UNcut. Start sending
those e-mails in now, got two so far. Please don't forget to send a mailing
address, and a correct one at that. If it ends up being sent to a homeless
shealter or something. It won't be my fault. :o)

And no, I will not except any payment for this. So please don't offer.
So take advantage while I'm in a crazy giving mood. :o)

Oh, and one last thing, Battle UnCut will also contain my music video.

Hmmm.... here's a thought. Maybe we could make it easier on
Alex by having him send only the uncut Beneath to anyone who
wants it, then send the behind-the-scenes DVD and the cartoon
DVD to two others in the group who have DVD-burners, and THEY
distribute their respective DVDs. That way, Alex only has to deal
with making copies of one of the three, which is easier for him,
and yet everyone who wants all three gets all three! I'd gladly
offer to do it, but I don't have a DVD-burner, alas.

Sorry, I made a goof. She wasn't asking for ideas, but she asked something like... "what would you want to see in POTA 2... it's already written, I just want to confirm our efforts are going to be received well..." or words to that effect. I don't really remember. It's all archived in the group but I don't feel like looking for it right now.

Anyway, she seems convincing, I really hope she is on the POTA staff. That would at least confirm the few good juicy facts she let out about the new movie. Guess there's no way to be sure. I can only hope.
