You're still locked into that two-choice mentality. How many modern
bridges have you seen made of bricks? Well, they're not carved from
solid rock, either. There are OTHER choices.

The apes have a different design aesthetic. That doesn't mean they can't
have advanced building techniques.

It's possible that their knowledge of metallurgy was good enough for
the construction of simple metal bars - if nor, perhaps tree trunks.
Either way, with something like this in place as a foundation, other
materials can be meshed around it and hey presto, you've got your
bridge.

Actually, not so long ago I would have struggled to differentiate (or care
to?), until one day I spoke to a collector about his Japanese Zauis ring.
He stated "The detail is so fine you can actually tell it is Maurice Evans".
Since then I have been a bit more scrupulous when examining the detail.

Maybe they just used Trundy made up as a cost cutting measure and she was meant to be a different female at the time of the Ape Management bredding scenes.

There's no way of knowing.  In the book it's not Lisa, but she may have just happend to be in the center for breeding on that particular day.  It sure looks like her, but since she doesn't look that way anywhere else in the film, who knows if she's supposed to be herself or not.  Though until I knew better I though it was someone else, I'm a sentimental guy. I'm willing to belive that fate conspired to somehow bring them together.

Y'know, it really is weird how it goes.

We actually got 'em a day before you did, as with the new Star Wars.
Episode 1 we waited months for, as with POTA.

Its all about the seasons. Summer here is December. But there is not
criterion. They just randomly choose to make us wait.

There is a really good Aussie movie coming about Gangsterism in the late
1960s. This one should actually hit the US as it has John Goodman in it.
Has Holly Valance (singer) appeared yet? Trust me guys, you'll know when
she does!

I have written to Fox to request that they do a "5 Star" edition of "PLANET", as well as a "Director's Cut" of "CONQUEST" and "special editions" of "BENEATH," ESCAPE," and "BATTLE." I also requested that they release "Return to the Planet of the Apes" on dvd as well.

(The "director's cut" of course being J. Lee Thompson's "original" vision of "CONQUEST," before the complaining test audiences in Phoenix whined too much and they edited the film's content... And the "special editions" being those titles with extra footage added. I'm not sure how much unused footage still exists for "BENEATH" & "ESCAPE," but I know there is extra footage for "BATTLE." The extra "BATTLE" footage was used during television airings, and was included in the Japanese laser disc version of the film.)

We have two addresses to write to. My guess is the first address would be the most "useful," but I am trying them both. I don't expect any reply from them, because I sure didn't receive any when I wrote requesting the tv series on dvd... Regardless, here are the addresses:

Did anyone here take debating at school? You know, where they give you a
topic like "The Earth is Flat" and you go about presenting an argument? And
the winner can be going on about a crock, but they win because they made it

Well, with Patrick it is all a debate. If you think other than what he
says, he will go about trying to "win" the debate, and boy is he motivated!
He with mathematically PROVE that the earth is flat, and instead of then
realising how silly that was (ie, mathematics is a poor choice of tool
because it just proved something CONTRARY to fact), he will invite you to
use mathematics to prove your ideas and claim you might LACK logic if you
can't.

And he loves to argue. C'mon, you know it.

I would suggest this:

When he says something reasonable, PRAISE HIM!!! Let him kow how wonderful
that feels.

When he says silly things, IGNORE HIM!!!!

I think it makes sense to say that if we ever get the script and find
Lisa's scenes refer to her as Lisa for all her scenes and to
the "Mate" by a different title, we are talking about 2 different
people.

breeding scene - could you ask her if she thinks she was supposed to
be playing LISA at the time.

She probably doesn't remember. I think it's a forgone conclusion that it's
a different character. She acts totally different than Lisa, and there's no
sense that they shared that kind of moment together. And the script doesn't
say it's Lisa. But she did say they had to cut her fee to accomodate

Now she IS worth fighting for! She also lives half here, half in the US,

Anyone else get the irony of Tom's Minority Report character being so
paternal, while in real life he apparently couldn't care less when Nicole
miscarried? A friend told me that it is believed rather widely that Tom is

I'm hoping they can pull a "Star Trek" with the POTA franchise. The

from midtown Manhatten (Radio City Music Hall) to downtown (New York Stock

comics? I thought it only had reprints of the USA Marvel mag.

Yes NYC has an 11th Avenue as does a lot of other cities. Also, it
is a well known fact that the New York State Govenor spends as much
time in NYC as Albany. He use to have an office in the WTC.

Actually McDonald says in BATTLE that they are getting pretty close to
what used to be Ape Management.

I know that makes no sense but many movies shot in NYC have made
similar mistakes. I guess many filmmakers think no outside of NYC
will notice the errors.

Yes, that's exactly my comparison. "Star Trek" #1 tried to do a splashy
reinvention with a big budget and a big director who didn't know a thing
about what made it tick (Paramount had 3 people they wanted for "Star Trek":
Spielberg, Lucas or Robert Wise). It became a bloated pseudo epic that
disappointed, just like a favorite reimagination of ours. It even had a
similar reveal. Remember when wipe off the crud and V'ger becomes Voyager?
Just like Calima became "Caution: Whatever It Said". What they need to do is
do smaller budgets and good stories. Smaller budget in that that's the only
way they'll have the confidence to not second guess it.

The Director's Cut of the first Star Trek film on DVD is a far
different film than what was released in theaters. It's a much

I just watched my copy again a couple nights ago.  They've mostly added to the special effects because the film was such a rush job many weren't completed for the original release.  Veger's attack on earth now is shown.  Other than that it's basically the same film.  They've juiced up the sound effects too, so in DD 5.1 it's really nice.  I like the movie but it's not great.  When you watch the DVD check out Jerry Goldsmith's comments on the alternate track during the overture.

New title sequence. New sound mix so the bridge scenes arn't so
static. A lot of cuts and trims of scenes so they move a lot faster.
And many many new SFX shots that weren't in the original film.
