Actually, Armando used the press clipings to line Caeser's cage.
Which brings us back to my fold or crumple question;-) <.html

.html Actress Kim Hunter dead of heart attack
Played Zira in `Planet of the Apes,'
Stella in `Streetcar Named Desire'
ASSOCIATED PRESS
NEW YORK, Sept. 11 Kim Hunter, the versatile actress who won a
supporting Oscar in 1951 as the long-suffering Stella in "A
Streetcar Named Desire" and appeared in three "Planet of the Apes"
movies, died Wednesday. She was 79. Hunter died in her Greenwich
Village apartment from an apparent heart attack, said her daughter,
Kathryn Emmett.
`It was pretty claustrophobic and painful to a certain extent. The
only thing of me that came through was my eyeballs.'
KIM HUNTER
on her role as Zira in 'Planet of the Apes' A SHY, modest
person, Hunter enjoyed a long and busy career in theater and
television, less so in films, partly because she was blacklisted
during the red-hunting 1950s and didn't fit the sexpot pattern for
female Hollywood stars.
"A Streetcar Named Desire" provided the highlight of her
career. The play was cast with Marlon Brando as Stanley Kowalski,
Karl Malden as Mitch, and Jessica Tandy as the tragic Blanche
DuBois. Director Elia Kazan admitted in his autobiography, "A Life,"
that he had trouble casting Stella "because I enjoy looking at
girls."
He added of Hunter: "The minute I saw her I was attracted to
her, which is the best possible reaction when casting young women."
Brando, Malden and Hunter played their roles in the somewhat
sanitized film version (Hollywood still adhered to a strict moral
self-censorship). Because Warner Bros. needed a movie star for
marquee value, Vivien Leigh, who had appeared as Blanche in London,
repeated the role in the film.
Leigh, Malden and Hunter won Academy Awards; despite his
unforgettable performance, Brando did not. Humphrey Bogart was
awarded a long overdue Oscar for "The African Queen."
Hunter told the New Orleans Times-Picayune in 1999 that after
she left "Streetcar" she tried to avoid seeing the play with other
casts.
"It's simply that I have no objectivity about it," she
said. "It was so much a part of my life, it would be unfair to the
productions and performers."
BLACKLISTED
Oscar's legendary golden touch didn't seem to apply to
Hunter. Her subsequent films were few, and they lacked the luster
of "Streetcar." Among them: "Deadline U.S.A.," as newspaper editor
Humphrey Bogart's estranged wife; "Anything Can Happen," as Russian
immigrant Jose Ferrer's wife; "Storm Center," a minor film starring
Bette Davis; also "The Young Stranger," "Bermuda Affair,"
and "Money, Women and Guns."
Her screen career entered a lull in the late '50s, after
Hunter, a liberal Democrat, was listed as a communist sympathizer by
Red Channels, a red-hunting pamphlet that influenced hiring by
studios and TV networks.
Her return to film was "Lilith" (1964), which starred Warren
Beatty, Jean Seberg and Peter Fonda. Four years later came "Planet
of the Apes."
Hunter was cast as Dr. Zira, a chimpanzee psychiatrist in the
science fiction classic about a group of astronauts from a ruined
earth who discover a future world ruled by apes, with humans as
slaves. The actress spent hours as the makeup and monkey suit were
applied and later removed.
"It was pretty claustrophobic and painful to a certain
extent," she told a reporter in 1998. "The only thing of me that
came through was my eyeballs."
She was enough intrigued with the character and the plots
that she appeared in two sequels, "Beneath the Planet of the Apes"
(1970) and "Escape from the Planet of the Apes" (1971).
LONELY CHILD
She recalled later that she was a lonely child who `picked friends
out of books and played `let's pretend' games, acting out their
characters before a mirror.'
Hunter was born Janet Cole in Detroit on Nov. 12, 1922; her
mother had been a concert pianist. She recalled later that she was a
lonely child who "picked friends out of books and played `let's
pretend' games, acting out their characters before a mirror."
At 17 she joined a traveling stock company, then gained more
seasoning in regional theaters and went to California for a role
in "Arsenic and Old Lace" at the Pasadena Playhouse.
She obtained a contract with David O. Selznick, whose first
move was to change her name. She made her film debut in a low-budget
RKO horror film, "The Seventh Victim," and followed with secondary
roles in other features, but eventually returned to the New York
theater.
Irene Mayer Selznick was producing "A Streetcar Named Desire"
in 1947, and Selznick, her ex-husband, recommended Hunter to play
Stella Kowalski.
After the "Planet of the Apes" movies, Hunter appeared on
Broadway in "Darkness at Noon," "The Children's Hour" and "The
Tender Trap" and toured extensively in regional theater.
Her television appearances included the soap operas "The Edge
of Night" and "As the World Turns" plus numerous miniseries, TV
movies and series.
Hunter was married to William Baldwin in 1944; they had a
daughter, Kathryn, and divorced in 1946. In 1951, she married actor
and producer Robert Emett, with whom she sometimes costarred in
plays. Their son was named Sean Robert.

Hack??? It is possible - I don't think we are the only people in the
world who have wanted an answer to this question.
Another point....did Hack design costumes in all the films and in the
TV Series or just the first film and it was adapted after that???
Mr. Cougar, do you know the answer to this one?

.html.html

Kim Hunter, Academy Award winning Actress who created unforgettable characters like Stella and Zira has passed away
The vivacious little fireball of an actress Kim Hunter has died. Born in Detriot on November 12, 1922 she studied at The Actors Studio in New York along side Marlon Brando and other greats of the stage and screen from her generation. In 1947 she created the role of Stella from Tennessee Williams' A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE on the New York stage and like her co-star in that production it carried her to Hollywood and a long film and TV career. She would win both an Oscar and a Golden Globe for that film role. buuuuut...
Kim was wrongly accused of being a communist because of her strong Civil Rights stances and the fact that she was one of the co-sponsers of the 1949 World Peace Conference in New York. As a result she along with many other movie industry professionals was blacklisted and she lost many prime years of exposure on the silver screen to forced inactivity. Years later she was cleared of any wrongdoing and it has benefitted us all.
Kim went on to act in over 65 features and on over 40 major television shows. In 1968 she gave birth to a character that, with the public at any rate, would far overshadow the critically aclaimed Stella. That role was as Zira in the original PLANET OF THE APES. She would fine tune that character through 2 sequels BENEATH THE PLANET OF THE APES, and ESCAPE FROM THE PLANET OF THE APES.
However Kim did not rest on her genre laurels. She would go on to receive more acknowledgements for her skills as an actress with nominations for a Genie and an Emmy. Her acting credits crossed all genre lines. She was in STORM CENTER; THE SWIMMER; DEADLINE USA and many other first rate productions right up through recent films like MIDNIGHT IN THE GARDEN OF GOOD AND EVIL, and A PRICE ABOVE RUBIES, as a matter of fact she appeared in Films and TV on into 2002. She will be sorely missed, but atleast we have the great body of work that we can turn to whenever we want...

Yes it was the budget but also the fact that the suits are cool and people
wanted to see them again. I liked that they used the same suits. Since the
Lawgiver statue in PLANET had the same suit as Dr. Zaius we know the suit
design is very old and so using the same designs in BATTLE is plausible. What
is less plausible than keeping the same fashions is that the apes in PLANET and
BENEATH still use the same dialect of English after 2000 years. It would
have been easier for the suits to remain the same than the language.
We don't have any clue from the first two films when the Lawgiver statue was made. It could have been done centuries after his death when no ape would remember what the Lawgiver actually did wear.
I find it a little funny that you don't mind that the costumes remain unchanged for two thousand years, but you still want to beat up the series for having the apes speaking English. Were the filmmakers supposed to use a language no audience could understand? As a kid would you have wanted to read subtitles everytime an ape spoke? Cut the series some slack.

Mr. Cougar, do you know the answer to this one?

That's Haack, Whitty!!! (Go memorize the cast and credits to every one of the films as punishment!)
Morton Haack was costume designer on the first two only. The last three films were so low budget they had NO costume designer but just took stuff from the Fox wardrobe department.
Hey, answer me this smart guys who think it's legitamet that the apes wear the same costumes in BATTLE as they do in PLANET and BENEATH... Where did they get the materials? Who sewed them? Subject: [Planet of the Apes] Re: Apes
Writing
Last night, I
mentioned that in an old issue of Marvel's Planet of the Apes magazine (Issue
# 13, August 1975 cover date) there was an interview with Bill Blake and Paula
Christ in which they were asked about the apes "glyphics." I have typed out
the part of the interview in which it's discussed... Here it is:
Whitmore: I know you have the originals, so I'll put the
question to you that's been in my mind since the first film: do those scroll
plates mean anything?
Crist: 20th never did define the reason
for the plates, so we did some research and made up our own logical
reasons.*First off you will notice the gentleman's costume has the large
armband, two thinner bands, and another large band at the bottom of the
sleeve, where the scroll plate is. In the movie, little Lucius, Lou Wagner,
didn't havethe heavy upper strip or a scroll plate. So what I've assumed from
watching the films and then seeing the costume layouts is that a young chimp
reaching maturity-just like a Jewish boy who goes thru the Bar Mitzvah
ceremony to become a man in his world-receives a top bar and scroll plate.
This is the explanation we give on stage.
Whitmore: Were you able to
go to 20th to see if they ever had anything in mind about this?
Crist:
Unfortunately, a lot of the history is lost. Every department at 20th is a
seperate entity, so getting the coordinated is pretty hard. And they're busy
on new productions, etc. The man who designed the costumes, Morton Hack, would
be the one who would know. But I don't know where to find him.
Blake:
He's in Italy right now.
Crist: Short of getting hold of him, you see,
we've done the best we could. There are other things we've deduced. On
the front part of the costumes in the first movie, only Zira and Cornelius
have the scroll plate with the tiny half-moon heiroglyphic above it. No one
else had it in the film except Markus (sic), the head of the gorillas, who had
it on his ammuntion sash...but his markings were different. The designs you
see on these costumes were unique to the chimpanzees. "Glyphics," the studio
wants to call them. Similar glyphics in a different form were on the orangutan
costumes. It's like taking any word and switching the letters around; it
becomes a foreign language. But getting back to the chimpanzees. Right now
that cresent glyphic is unique to Drs. Zira, Cornelius, and Milo. The logical
deduction is that it is the symbol for DOCTOR. The plate on the chest by
itself simply meant they were scientists.
Whitmore: That would seem to
make sense....
While what she says does make sense in a way, I
still can't agree with all of it. For example, where she states once
"maturity" is reached by the chimps, then they get the "glyphics". If that's
true that young apes get them upon "maturity, does that then mean that young
gorillas get them earlier on in their lifes (remember the child gorilla, who
is younger than Lucius has them...) Something to think about...
And as
far as what she says that the symbol on the chimpanzees chest meaning
"scientist," I can't agree with that for the simple reason that some of the
chimp prefects on the tv show have that symbol on their chest, and if I
remember correctly, so does the court room scene chimp in Planet... Maybe that
symbol is something to do with chimps, but who knows....

My point is, Jeffery, that I would rather have the
inconsistencies of the series remain "mysteries wrapped in enigmas" rather
than have some fan explanations that are silly, ridiculous, desperate and
sometimes pathetic. It's pathetic to have to come up with some sort of
convoluted nonsense simply because the writing was sloppy on this movie or
that TV show episode. Oh, when there's a "postulation" that's simple and
rather plausible, like what the apes' emblems may mean, then fine, or
that Taylor's spaceship was named Icarus when we all know it had no name,
that's OK, but when you have to get into the Patrick Michael Tilton Zone to
try and make sense of something, that goes too far for me. Please spare
me from trips to the PMT Zone!

Oscar-Winning Actress Kim Hunter Dies
Wed Sep 11, 8:30 PM ET
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Actress Kim Hunter, best known for her Oscar-winning role as Stella Kowalski opposite Marlon Brando in the 1951 screen classic "A Streetcar Named Desire," died on Wednesday at age 79, family members said.
Hunter, whose role in a 1943 Ginger Rogers
film about women who lived communally during World War II led to her being blacklisted as a suspected communist during the 1950s, died of natural causes at her Greenwich Village apartment, upstairs from the Cherry Lane Theater, her son, Sean Emmett said. Hunter amassed an impressive array of stage, film and television credits during a career spanning seven decades, appearing as recently as last year in an off-Broadway revival of "The Madwoman of Chaillot" for the Neighborhood Playhouse." Her varied career included Broadway credits in the 1950s productions of "Darkness at Noon" and "The Children's House"; a screen role as the ape-woman Zira in the original 1968 "Planet of the Apes" and two sequels; and an Emmy-nominated turn on the ABC daytime drama "The Edge of Night."
Charlton Heston
, who co-starred with her in "Planet of the Apes," issued a statement saluting Hunter as "a fine actress and a wonderful person." But she is perhaps best remembered as Brando's long-suffering and loyal wife Stella, the younger sister of Vivien Leigh's Blanche DuBois, in Tennessee Williams' "A Streetcar Named Desire," a role she originated on Broadway. Her big-screen performance earned Hunter an Academy Award for best supporting actress. The following year, she co-starred as the ex-wife of a newspaper editor played by Humphrey Bogart in "Deadline U.S.A." and appeared opposite Jose Ferer in the comedy "Anything Can Happen." Born Janet Cole in Detroit and raised in Miami, Florida, Hunter made her stage debut in a local production where she was spotted by talent scouts and put under contract by film producer David O. Selznick. She
was loaned out for her first film, the 1943 thriller "The Seventh Victim," and the same year was cast with Ginger Rogers in Edward Dmytryk's "Tender Comrade," about a group of women who shared a house while their husbands were off serving in World War II. Partly as a result of her appearance in that film, Hunter's name surfaced in Red Channels, a pamphlet listing those suspected of having communist sympathies, and she ended up on the Hollywood blacklist. She continued to work on stage and resumed film acting as the blacklisting faded. She also chalked up numerous television credits as far back as 1948 as a recurring player on ABC's "Actors Studios" and with guest roles ranging from an Emmy-nominated turn on "Baretta" to an appearance on the NBC sitcom "Mad About You." She returned to Broadway in 1996 for a revival of "An Ideal Husband" at the Ethel Barrymore Theater, where she had co-starred in "A Streetcar
Named Desire" years before. Hunter returned to feature films with a small part in Clint Eastwood's 1997 drama "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil."

Yes, Kim Hunter. That's sad news but we're
getting used to it. I just got an e-mail from Eric Greene about her death and he
said at least they were part of that documentary before they went. That's true,
including Roddy and Don Taylor. Also, Eric said he doesn't know the whereabouts
of any rare "Conquest" footage. He had Fox do a search in '93 for it (I don't
know how hard they looked!) and he also talked to J. Lee a couple of times in
the '90's. Damn! Kim Hunter...it's starting to sink in. What a sweet lady, who
always had time for fans. And that came through in Zira. - - - Jeff

Blade III: Teletext
reports that Luke Goss looks likely to reprise his role of the vampire Jared Nomak in a third "Blade" film. Goss says: "I don't know how I reappear in the movie - it's possible I emerge from the embryos that you see at the end of Blade II. I'd like to appear in less make-up. Writer David Goyer is thinking about a Planet Of The Apes type of twist - it's very, very interesting". Goss is about to begin work on "Charlie", a biopic of British gangster Charlie Richardson, and is trying to sort out his schedule to accept a role in the "Tomb Raider" sequel. Finally, he's working on a script for Snipes and himself - "It's a heist-buddy sort of film, a bit like Mission Impossible". Thanks to 'Chris', 'Allan' & 'Victor'

.html Today's passing of Kim Hunter (and the recent deaths of J. Lee Thompson and
Jeff Corey) drives home one hard fact: as long as this list continues we will
be mourning more and more of the principle players from our beloved POTA
universe. Since I've been here (Feb. 2001), John Chambers has also passed.
Not to be morbid, but I can't help but wonder whose next? Chuck Heston? James
Gregory? Booth Coleman? Natalie Trundy? Ricardo Montalbon? Dick Zanuck? Linda
Harrison? Paul Williams? Etc.... I don't want to start a "POTA Death Pool"
but I do wonder...
Just look how many are already gone: Arthur Jacobs, Roddy McDowall, Pierre
Boulle, Paul Dehn, Maurice Evans, Franklin Schaffner, James Franciscus, Don
Taylor, Sevrin Dardin, Hari Rhodes, James Daly, Mark Lenard, Robert Gunner,
Jeff Burton, Sal Mineo, John Huston, and I'm sure many others who I can't
think of off the top of my head.
Ironically, I watched PLANET just last night on glorious DVD and I was
marveling at the acting job turned in by Kim Hunter. In the article on the
IMDB, Hunter was quoted as once saying (in regards to the ape makeup) "The
only thing of me that came through was my eyeballs." Heck, that's all she
needed to show here acting prowess! The scenes in the jail and the look in
her eyes towards Taylor are enough to melt your heart. Thank you Kim Hunter.
Travel safely on that "Stairway to Heaven."

Same thing I've been thinking. When I watched ESCAPE tonight and the three chimps took off their space helmets, the first thing I thought was, "My God, they're all dead." And the DVd was so clear that it looked like it was shot yesterday. Well, I guess this is life in the modern age.

.html .htmlOscar-Winning Actress Kim Hunter Dies
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Actress Kim Hunter, best known for her Oscar-winning role as Stella Kowalski opposite Marlon Brando in the 1951 screen classic "A Streetcar Named Desire," died on Wednesday at age 79, family members said.
Hunter, whose role in a 1943 Ginger Rogers film about women who lived communally during World War II led to her being blacklisted as a suspected communist during the 1950s, died of natural causes at her Greenwich Village apartment, upstairs from the Cherry Lane Theater, her son, Sean Emmett said.
Hunter amassed an impressive array of stage, film and television credits during a career spanning seven decades, appearing as recently as last year in an off-Broadway revival of "The Madwoman of Chaillot" for the Neighborhood Playhouse."
Her varied career included Broadway credits in the 1950s productions of "Darkness at Noon" and "The Children's House"; a screen role as the ape-woman Zira in the original 1968 "Planet of the Apes" and two sequels; and an Emmy-nominated turn on the ABC daytime drama "The Edge of Night."
Charlton Heston, who co-starred with her in "Planet of the Apes," issued a statement saluting Hunter as "a fine actress and a wonderful person."
But she is perhaps best remembered as Brando's long-suffering and loyal wife Stella, the younger sister of Vivien Leigh's Blanche DuBois, in Tennessee Williams' "A Streetcar Named Desire," a role she originated on Broadway. Her big-screen performance earned Hunter an Academy Award for best supporting actress.
The following year, she co-starred as the ex-wife of a newspaper editor played by Humphrey Bogart in "Deadline U.S.A." and appeared opposite Jose Ferer in the comedy "Anything Can Happen."
Born Janet Cole in Detroit and raised in Miami, Florida, Hunter made her stage debut in a local production where she was spotted by talent scouts and put under contract by film producer David O. Selznick.
She was loaned out for her first film, the 1943 thriller "The Seventh Victim," and the same year was cast with Ginger Rogers in Edward Dmytryk's "Tender Comrade," about a group of women who shared a house while their husbands were off serving in World War II.
Partly as a result of her appearance in that film, Hunter's name surfaced in Red Channels, a pamphlet listing those suspected of having communist sympathies, and she ended up on the Hollywood blacklist.
She continued to work on stage and resumed film acting as the blacklisting faded. She also chalked up numerous television credits as far back as 1948 as a recurring player on ABC's "Actors Studios" and with guest roles ranging from an Emmy-nominated turn on "Baretta" to an appearance on the NBC sitcom "Mad About You."
She returned to Broadway in 1996 for a revival of "An Ideal Husband" at the Ethel Barrymore Theater, where she had co-starred in "A Streetcar Named Desire" years before. Hunter returned to feature films with a small part in Clint Eastwood's 1997 drama "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil."

Fox Eyes Big Screen for 'Idol'
By Dave McNary and Josef Adalian
HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - Signs are pointing toward the big-screen version of Fox TV's hit "American Idol" landing at 20th Century Fox, though no deal has been finalized.
"Idol" creator Simon Fuller and studio co-chairman Tom Rothman both expressed strong interest Tuesday in proceeding with the project, which would represent a triumph of synergy within parent News Corp. if the film goes ahead.
Rothman told investors at Morgan Stanley's communications conference in Miami there was a "good chance" that his studio would develop the film. In response, Fuller issued a statement that said, "I'm very happy to extend my relationship with Fox and News Corp. I'm also looking forward to working closely with my brother Kim Fuller and repeating the success we had together with 'Spice World."'
Speculation has been buzzing about the project. Simon Fuller, who heads 19 Entertainment, confirmed last week he was developing a feature film for "Idol" winner Kelly Clarkson and finalist Justin Guarini, mixing real-life adventures with scripted hijinks.
The Sept. 4 two-hour season finale of "Idol" averaged 22.8 million viewers, giving Fox its second-best viewer tally for an evening of programming.

"Apes" Star Hunter Dies
by Joal Ryan
Sep 11, 2002, 2:35 PM PT Actress Kim Hunter, who won an Oscar for being the object of Marlon Brando's desire in A Streetcar Named Desire, and earned the undying admiration of sci-fi fans for portraying sensible chimp Dr. Zira in three Planet of the Apes
movies, died Tuesday at her New York home of an apparent heart attack. She was 79. Hunter's career spanned parts of seven decades. She last appeared on screen in an October 2001 episode of the now-defunct Richard Dreyfuss series, The Education of Max Bickford. Although never a marquee name, Hunter amassed her share of starry credits: Deadline U.S.A. opposite
Humphrey Bogart; Stairway to Heaven (aka A Matter of Life and Death), the acclaimed British war drama with David Niven; and, of course, Streetcar and the Apes franchise. Streetcar's Stella Kowalski was a role Hunter originated on Broadway in 1947. She moved onto the 1951 film version along with Brando and
Karl Malden. In addition to being old play mates, the three were alums of New York's famed Actors' Studio. (Another famed Studio grad, Rod Steiger, died in July.)
Hunter's portrayal of a Stella, a tormented woman in love with a tormented lunk of a guy, earned her the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award. She shared Oscar gold with costars Malden (tapped Best Supporting Actor) and Vivien Leigh (named Best Actress for her diva turn as Blanche DuBois). The only Streetcar star to not
claim an Oscar was, notably, Brando. Oscar or no (at least on that night), Brando became a first-rate star. Oscar or no, Hunter didn't. Her career stalled in the Red Scare 1950s when she fell under the shadow of the blacklist. A pamphlet that tracked supposedly Commie-friendly talent for the Hollywood studios listed Hunter as a sympathizer. While she continued to work, she did so mainly on TV, where she appeared on Playhouse 90 and other live anthology dramas of the day. As the blacklist faded in the 1960s, Hunter reemerged (albeit, buried under piles of latex makeup and glued-on hair) in the original Planet of the Apes
. In that 1968 sci-fi classic, Hunter shuffled, twitched her nose and bussed Charlton Heston as the chimp psychiatrist who reigned as one of the lone voices of reason in the world-upside-down madhouse. While her charming portrayal didn't bring her more award-show hardware, it did earn her a franchise. Hunter went on to play Zira in 1970's Beneath the Planet of the Apes and 1971's funny/tragic Escape From the Planet of the Apes
. Through it all, she was joined by her ape mate, Roddy McDowall as Zira's husband, Cornelius. "While Streetcar is a classic, and A Matter of Life and Death is a classic, those ape films have become a cult in their own right," Hunter told the BBC in the late 1990s. "People from all over the world write to me about those films." Said Heston on Wednesday: "Kim Hunter was a fine actress and a wonderful person. It is my distinct privilege to have worked with her. The world has lost a unique talent." In the 1970s, Hunter appeared regularly in prime-time and did a stint on a soap, The Edge of Night
, earning a Daytime Emmy nomination in 1980. (She returned to daytime drama in 1997, appearing on As the World Turns.) Born Janet Cole in Detroit on November 12, 1922, Hunter married twice. Her second marriage, to Robert Emmett, head writer for the 1960's Saturday Night Live precursor That Was the Week That Was, endured from 1951 to his death in 2000. Survivors include two children--a daughter from her first marriage and a son by Emmett. Related Links

Thanks Mr Cougar. I wonder if anyone did actually get an

Another point....did Hack design costumes in all the films and in
the TV Series or just the first film and it was adapted after that???
Mr. Cougar, do you know the answer to this one?
Michael
I'll dig thru those Marvel mags and see if I can
find anything else about the costume designs... I'll post it in the next few
days if I do...

Look at what Fox is making: "American
Idol the Movie" (whatever that is), "Garfield the Movie", "Fat Albert", "Alien
vs. Predator". It doesn't look like they have a lot of choices. They'll come
back around to "Apes" soon. Don't know where, don't know when, but we'll meet
again some sunny day. - - - Jeff

.html Where have you people been all my life?! Just discovered this
forum....what a relief to know that I am not the only whacko in the
universe....! Am a lifelong fan of Apes and am always searching
for others to discuss all things apes......seeing how there are
over 21,000posts already it might take me awhile to catch up!! so
if I bring up or ask something that has already been
discussed.....i apologize...maybe someone could steer me to the
appropriate posts .....
I am deeply saddened by the death of Ms. Hunter....was avoiding
news yesterday for fear of getting too depressed so I did not
know until today....while Mr. McDowall has always been the
shining star of the Ape world.....Kim was the heart and
soul.....Her sparkling blue eyes ....combining her with Dr. Zira will
always be a comfort to me.....
Also...I just read the other day that Wahlberg said that the new
Apes was the first money he ever got any money on the back end
(from profits) and he said he's up for another (as long as any
new director respects his no loincloth rule!) ....which it means it
was a success financially........if it were up to me...they should do
another withOUT him...or Estella Warren for that matter...and just
continue with Ari raising Pericles.....just have it about the apes
dammit...i could go on and on about Burton's film (and how
disappointed I was) but I'll save it.....
Let's see...anything else? I do have an EXTENSIVE Apes
collection and am always looking for the rarer items so if any
body's up for selling let me know........
look forward to discussions and all on this group...i might not
post every day but I will keep up as good as I can!!!

questions...so many theories!!! for my 2 cents on early
discussions....
1. I agree that when the revolution happened there were still
planes and trains and utomobiles so that explains the bi coastal
thingy...
2. I believe there was a long line of Mendez's (Mendii?) and
Lawgivers AND Zaius' for that matter (TV zaius being diff. than
Movie Zaius)
3. i think Milo used Taylor's ship and got it to work cause he was
so damn smart.....
4.still working on the Aldo saying No theory....my thoughts on that
is that Battle's Aldo is not the same....maybe a relative...they
seem to have a lack of creating new names on POTA...i.e. Galen
(film and Galen (TV)...
I'm sure I will have many more thoughts as I scan the last
several years of your discussion!
How do you post pics on here?

Welcome to the group, Tim, and yeah, please save it about the Burton film. Almost everyone was VERY disappointed with it to say the least. Let's hear about some of the things you've collected, or if you have any theories about how to explain the inconsistences in the series. The more far out they are, the more ape I get. (Somebody explain it to him.)
One question, Tim. . . . Are there two timelines or one?

Oh, the bicoastal thingy, that really drives me nuts!!! All the APES films except ESCAPE took place EAST of the Mississippi. Just because they shot CONQUEST in L.A. doesn't mean it is L.A. or anywhere close. Please don't be one of those that thinks the mutants dragged the Alpha and Omega Bomb across the country to New York. Oh no, please ,NO!!!

Well, when you get up to the recent posts you'll see that I put up pictures of many APES posters. I also go through eBay every so often to see what people are selling, though I rarely bid on things these days. I saw Eric Greene was bidding on an original ad recently, like this one. . . .

As to how you post pictures, I'd rather someone with more technical know-how told you. All I can say is you put your pointer over the image and right click, a grey box should come up with several options as to what you want to do. For instance you can left click on "copy," then you open an e-mail and within the text area you left click as if you were about to write but then you right click. The grey box comes up and you should see an option for "paste." Left click on that and the picture you want to copy should appear within the e-mail. You can then type your text above, beside or below it. I really hate explaining these things because I figure them out in my own odd way. I'm really not that into computers.

Yes, you're right, there are. An infinite number of lanes leading to and from the past to future. I believe when Zira and Cornelius popped back into 1973 they jumped the earth into another lane. But, we've been through this all before.

Welcome to the group. Spooky that you should happen to join today, of all
days. I have a pretty extensive collection also and have most of the items
you mentioned. I've been collecting for about 12 years now but have gotten
to the point where anything I don't have is too expensive for me to buy
anyway ( the Aussie $ is only worth 54 U.S. cents..ouch!). If you can view
PC pics, let me know and I can post some if you like.
Best,
KEN

It's not a liscenced item. I think it was made in
France or the U.K. I thinks it's only really small and made of
lead?
It's pretty cool though.

Even if that were the case you could subtract 300 more years and the orangutan
suit design would still be 900 years old. And if it is 900 years old it could
easily be 2000 years old. We don't know what Jesus looked like but no one
depicts him wearing a modern business suit.

I imagine almost no one today would be able to understand someone speaking
English from 2000 years ago, or even 1000 years ago.

Cut the sequels some slack. The point is that PLANET has flaws just like
the sequels do. It was PLANET, not BATTLE, which first established that the
suit designs may be very, very old. And it is PLANET which depicts
no language changes in 2000 years of time. But since these movies are
works of fiction, I can accept that the apes language and fashions, like their
technology, could remain static for 2000 years because it was established
that way by the writers. The ape's social conservatism was probably intended
to fit in with their political conservatism.

to appear medievalistic. I wasn't serious about the glyphs being Chinese
characters but all the ape costumes look somewhat like medieval Chinese
fashions so maybe that was the inspiration for the POTA costumes.

Listen to Rory. Usually it is only casual fans who think there is a circular

.html .htmlYes, you're right, there are. An infinite number of lanes leading to and from the past to future.
Yes, yes, and an infinte number of them in which apes take over. Ceasar's just a catalyst which speeds up the process. It only takes tens of years instead of taking hundreds.
Hello Tim. Welcome to the group. Sorry about the hazel eyes crack, but when it comes to Kim Hunter, get it right. My mood is off and I'm not used to drinking in the middle of the week.<.html <.html

What does that mean?
It means that if you guy decide to highlight all the pics in you responses and there's a download going as the same time, it takes forever to get through all the posts for those of us not on broadband. Maybe it's just me, but I only need to see the pic once to get what you're talking about. I don't feel the need to see it in all the subsequent replies. If I don't have d/l' & u/ls going it's not that big a deal, I guess. <.html

Agreed. Save all that rubbish for the storage locker on the Mothership Earth. Sorry Tim, PMT reference. You'll get to know Pat and his cockamamie theories soon enough, you poor bastard. When you get halfway into one of his interminable post and your brain starts to glaze over just do what I do and hit the ol' delete button! It save a lot of time and aggravation.<.html <.html

There are a couple of collectors in the group but we mainly buy the rarer
items rather than sell them.
Now tell me....what do you call a rare Apes collectible?
Surely a few years ago you would have said "Poppin' Shotguns - nobody has
heard of these!", just before a case of 50 was found. The drum kit is still
up there with the radio, what else do you consider RARE?

.htmlHmmm. Tim, huh? You're last name wouldn't be Burton, would it? That's an
interesting idea for "Apes 2", keep it on the planet. Everybody assumes they
would have to continue Wahlly's adventures. And maybe they do have to, I
don't know. Everybody would probably expect to see what happened to Leo and
have his confrontation with Thade. I wouldn't want them to turn it into
"Back to the Future" where he would go back and forth to the other planet so
the others could have roles. Stick to the old planet or the new Earth, not
both. Or start from scratch. I wouldn't mind that either, Mr. Burton, er, I
mean "Tim". - - - Jeff

Well, folks . . . I
was drunk yesterday. I just got off the phone with her son Sean.
Arrangements haven't been made yet, so I have no information on flowers or
charitable donations to pass on. He's going to call be back when they've
made a decision as to what to do. Understandably, he has a lot to deal
with right now. The world is an emptier place with her
passing.
