exhorbitant prices? - - - Jeff

Actually, I already have. We started with AUDIO/VISUAL stuff.
My first obstacle is HOW to categorize.
I have seen different people try different things but I have never
been entirely happy with the results.
I'll see if I can dig some stuff up.
Then, ultimately, I would try to achieve a comprehensive collector's
web site which would categorize items, list them, show images, track
prices they have sold for and who sold / bought them, allow sellers
to advertise their details if they have an item for sale...etc.
But I would not rush in (I mean, look at POTA 2001...yes, they
planned it forever, but they didn'y even have time to relise the
script was a turd before they finished filming!).
It would require stages of development and careful planning.

Well, the films were definitely not made
with an eye towards this type of scrutiny. But you can find problems, flubs,
gaffes in any movie (even "Citizen Kane" maybe!) . It's no knock to "Apes" to
find holes. - - - Jeff

There you go
Snapperhead. This is what the prop dept. was working from, with the
directors approval, of course. That is all the thought that was put into
the map. Don't waste yourself trying to read things into it.
You'll turn into Patrick. No offense Pat.
In the Southwest quadrant are the "greenbelts" of the ape
civilization, looking on the map like jade stones strung on crescent-shaped
necklace. Ruby dots in the land indicate ape communities. The
Northwest quadrant, colored brown, is apparently uninhabited. East of the
green belts is a patch of green savanna, and next to it the darker green of
a jungle. The eastern quadrants are rendered in yellow, and except for a
blue lake, appear to be lifeless desert and barren mountain.

this has always confused me.....Isn't Marcus the
Hunt Leader? Isn't that Marcus in the outside cage scene? (It's that
gorilla's pic in the original ads....) According to eric greene's book in
the cast lists he was played by Norman Burton (who also showed up in "The
Interrogation")....so you are saying Bob Lombardo was Marcus and not the
photographer? I always assumed that marcus is the first gorilla we see on
horseback during the hunt......
No, the Hunt Leader is Norman Burton. He's the
one during the hunt that rides up and drops his arm to signal the spring of
the nets, he's the middle gorilla when the three gorilla hunters get their
photo taken, and he's the gorilla that asks Dr. Zaius "What's Dr. Zira trying
to prove?" Marcus, Head of Security Police, isn't in the script
and seems to be an invention of the Fox publicity department. However,
an actor named Bob Lombardo played the gorilla photographer, the gorilla that
asked that "No. 9 be ready in five minutes" to Julius, and identifies himself
as security police to Zira after Taylor is up in the net. I'm not really
sure that's the same actor in the makeup for the "Marcus" photo used in the
ads. Maybe it is Bob Lombardo, but I don't know. That photo is a
detail from a picture taken at the cave scene.

No, the gorilla at the cage is the Hunt Leader since that's Norman Burton in the makeup. I guess the Hunt Leader was the head gorilla in PLANET. He's got glyphs on his ammo sash. Marcus was just the head of security police. In BENEATH the Hunt Leader became General Ursus, but I don't mean that literally.

I'm sorry. I've been going back and forth on this looking at the pictures of the bust in Amazing Modeler. I really don't want to spend the $160 for the bust at this time, but I would truly like to get one in the future. Is it going to only be available for a limited time? Hi, got your e mail. I realize $160 is a lot of money, I know what it's like wanting a kit but not having the extra cash.-----
So...If you do want to buy it now, I'll sell it to you for $120.00 ($110. + $10. shipping)
otherwise you can still get one for $160 until the end of the year ( they may not be available after 2002).
I've included some pictures to help your decision.

.htmlNah
It was 1996.
I had a really good job (and only one child) and I had about $500
left every week to play with. I bought 4 Art de Bart Redemption
Cards (I still have 3 - after selling one on eBay for $860US), thn I
saw some collector mags with POTA Megos!!! So I decided to collect
these.
To give you an indication af what DIDN'T make it to my local stores,
I was amazed that there were TV characters in the Mego range. I had
a Stallion from when I was 12, but none of the playsets were ever in
my stores (in Canberra, Ken says they were in Sydney stores).
So I decided to collect the Megos, and because I remembered there was
very little POTA stuff around I decided to collect ALL toys. 2 years
later I had an idea that there was a LOT of POTA stuf (OK, not as
much as Star Trek or Star Wars, but still a LOT!).
Now I just can't afford apes anymore.
POTA was a lonely obsession for me - no one else round these parts
gave a crap about it.

There you go Snapperhead. This is what the prop dept. was working from, with the directors approval, of course. That is all the thought that was put into the map. Don't waste yourself trying to read things into it. You'll turn into Patrick. No offense Pat.
In the Southwest quadrant are the "greenbelts" of the ape civilization, looking on the map like jade stones strung on crescent-shaped necklace. Ruby dots in the land indicate ape communities. The Northwest quadrant, colored brown, is apparently uninhabited. East of the green belts is a patch of green savanna, and next to it the darker green of a jungle. The eastern quadrants are rendered in yellow, and except for a blue lake, appear to be lifeless desert and barren mountain.

I'm sorry.
I've been going back and forth on this looking at the pictures of the
bust in Amazing Modeler. I really don't want to spend the $160 for the
bust at this time, but I would truly like to get one in the future. Is
it going to only be available for a limited time? You wouldn't happen
to have better pictures of it than are in the magazine that you could send
via e-mail to help me make up my
mind?
Rory
Hi, got your e
mail. I realize $160 is a lot of money, I know what it's like wanting a kit
but not having the extra cash.----- So...If you do want to buy it
now, I'll sell it to you for $120.00 ($110. + $10. shipping) otherwise you
can still get one for $160 until the end of the year ( they may not be
available after 2002). I've included some pictures to help your
decision.

Yeah, this item pops up pretty frequently. I like
it, it's in cool colors. You should be able to get a complete one for around
$30-$40.

I've dealt with Joe Farrell many years ago ( when I
was an APE collector novice). I choose not to deal with him now. Read into that
what you will. I do know that he is a condition freak and is constantly
upgrading his collection.

Most of the collectors that I dealt with that have
also dealt with Joe Farrell relied on his 'expert' opinion when it came to
values at the time. These were once believed to be VERY rare. They seem to pop
up on Ebay more regularly now, but still are quite expensive. Just not as much
as they used to. Like most 'rare' items on Ebay. Don't forget, these were mass
produced in their day. I have the ring set but not the display box.

KEN

comes under the general logo.
A lot of the graphics double up too.
The stained glass for example has the same faces as the "silly soap".

recently on eBay they were a featured auction and the guy was
selling 10 sets!!!! Jesus, are there even 10 collectors who WANT
these in the world? Well, maybe, but not at the $500 a set he was
asking....none sold. I have a set of these.
They are only rare untill someone finds a truckload of them!!!!!
