|
.html Well, you can read this but it should be in a table and I can't do
that...you'll get the idea though.
SHOW/Medium Deleted Scenes Behind the Scenes/Doco/TV appearances
& shows. Commentaries & Interviews.
Planet h Footage in the beginning when the astronauts are travelling
through the Forbidden Zone - The rope decent. It's noted in Planet of
the Apes revisited in a letter to Frank Schaffner from Mort Abrams.
h The astronauts in the Forbidden Zone setting under the dew
collector (later worn by Dodge when they are in the cornfield scenes.)
h Scene of Heston swimming across the lake in front of ape city and
having a little gorilla boy throw rocks at him (shot for the escape
sequence, but cut for length).
h Scene of Zira and Lucius being stopped by gorillas as they leave
Ape City with Taylor.
h Lucius asking Cornelius who put the scarecrows up. Cornelius
says "The hunt club." to which Lucius asks, "To scare humans?" and
Cornelius replying "To scare us too, we're entering the Forbidden
Zone." Mentioned in both the comic adaptation, as well as the back of
one of the movie cards. (In the comic, he asks Zira, on the card, he
asks Cornelius.)
h Nova Pregnant (I think in "Behind the POTA" they say the pregnancy
scene was filmed; shot, but later removed; "POTA Revisited" says
the pregnancy scene was filmed and Lou Wagner says Kim Hunter nailed
it.
h "Mini-Films" of POTA & Beneath (digest versions of these films
prepared for movie distributors) includes scenes not shown (eg.
missing lines of Ursus' speech, Missing lines from Sauna scene).
h The entire make up test that begins with conceptual
sketches Jabobs had done by artists, is narrated by someone who tells
you about the 'proposed' film, and is scored by music from the "Lost
in Space" TV show.
h 1968 featurette about the creating of the make up.
h That's Hollywood (POTA-themed episode of this 80's syndicated
movie program
h Saturday Night Live Appearance by Charlton Heston with full Planet
of the Apes Crew h Chuck, John Chambers, William Creber, Mort
Abrahams, comments about the score from Jerry Goldsmith and what it
was
like collaborating with Franklin J. Schaffner.
h Longer interviews with some of the stars such as Heston, Linda
Harrison, etc
Beneath h Entire Ursus speech
h Longer Sauna dialogue
h Scene of Ursus, Zauis, and the minister debating the invasion (was
in the comic adaptation, and may not have been shot at all).
h "Mini-Films" of POTA & Beneath (digest versions of these films
prepared for movie distributors) includes scenes not show in the
movie (eg. missing lines of Ursus' speech, Missing lines from the
Sauna scene ) h Complete make up test of mutants with crazy eyes,
and half ape kid from Beneath h Commentary track with Ted Post (and
an optional director's cut).
Escape h Scene at the beginning with Astro Apes witnessing Earth
being destroyed. h Kim Hunter, Natalie Trundy and
Bradford Dillman
Conquest h Ape being gunned down at beginning.
h Generally I believe there was originally a lot more graphic
violence which was cut out.
h Ability to select to watch the movie with or without extra footage.
h A 1972 featurette during production of Conquest
h Behind the scenes footage from Conquest h Commentary track
with J. Lee Thompson (and an optional director's cut).
Battle h Scenes that were included in Japanese Laser Disc.
h Aldo on the School Bus
h Ability to select to watch the movie with or without extra footage.
h Commentary track with J. Lee Thompson (and an
optional director's cut).
TV h Footage from the show (didnt Roddy take home
movies all the time?). h The legendary "Aged Galen" footage that
everyone talks about but no one has a copy of.
h Sci-Fi Channel TV show short intros by Roddy McDowell, talking
about the Galen character.
h Interviews and commentary by James Naughton, Ron Harper and Booth
Coleman.
Cartoon h An interview with Return creator Doug
Wildey, who talks about 3 episodes that he planned to wrap up the
cartoon that were never filmed.
h " In episode 13 the humans finally get to the point where they can
actually attack something as an organised force. Show 14 would have
them organising to hit the apes where it hurts, which is the
munitions dumps and airplane fuel tanks. Show # 15 was where there
would be a big fight - how the hell I would have done it I don't know
because you can't hurt anybody - and the final episode is where they
blow up the ammunition dumps, the gas, and the whole thing. I
basically brought it to the point where there was an uneasy truce
between apes and humans where they set up in the forbidden zone; this
kind of truce thing where the two leaders meet and we wrap up the
show. Maybe, just maybe, they could've learned from each other".
General:
h Isolated music scores for all movies.
h A massive gallery of behind-the-scenes photos including rare
stills! Eg the ones during rehearsal, where Kim has a baret in her
hair, Linda has her hair tied back in a babushka and talking to the
director. I like the ones where theyre doing a scene but something
is out of place like smoking a ciggie or a grip with a light in the
background. All the production illustrations when they were planning
to film Boulle's novel before deciding it would be too expensive,
including the original 13 paintings (which was sold to a private
collector in '71).
h Posters Stills
h A boxed set that includes all this, plus the sequels, the TV show,
and the cartoon series would be fantastic. The Planet of the Apes
Omnibus.
h If there are sequences that were not fully filmed, then we could
suggest a gathering of all photographs with commentary or something.
h All the production art and conceptual illustrations in one package.
h Roddy appearing on Carol Burnett. This is available from Columbia
who are selling a collection of her show, and I believe that it is
tape 2 in the collection in the 70s in full ape regalia.
h Oscar footage
h Interviews/possible comics (if they were drawn/drafted) re where
the comics were going:
h I do believe everything was set for an issue #30. It was advertised
in #29 as a titanic sized issue. "Terror" was certainly to be in it.
And in #29 "Future History Chronicles" was left hanging. And
the "King Arthur" series was also left hanging as well. I be willing
to bet #30 is/was around but probably will never see print.
h Costumes/restorations and reproductions V Ape Mania (Brian).
h Six different MEGO - PLANET OF THE APES Action Figure Toy TV
Commercials from 1974-75
h Entire collection of all Simpsons POTA related footage. <.html

I was talking to Joe Russo last night and he insists the new movie has killed the franchise, but I think that's a little extreme. The movie was forgettable and it's fact being forgotten. Unfortunately, it didn't do the original films any favor in regards to people who weren't already APES fans and has probably alienated "alot" of potential new fans. Damn all those invovled with making the new film for being such idiots! However, one positive thing about Fox cracking down on the POTA site is that maybe they've got further plans for APES. If they're as greedy as they seem you can bet your ever loving monkey ass on it.

.htmlThe thing about Fox coming after that website is that they will likely
continue the policy. Just as they forbide Joe Russo to run pictures in his
book (he did it anyway), then had to issue a blanket policy against all the
other books. That means they're probably going to go after the sites about
the Icarus, the sites about the TV show, name it. They have an "intellectual
property" department that's doing it so they have plenty of people twiddling
their thumbs deciding who to go after next. www.planetoftheapesonline.com

Well, Linda said in her Kim Hunter memorial
that a new one is coming. I don't know if she's generalizing or if she heard
something from the family. But the franchise is not dead. There's plenty of
licensing activity (Kubricks, busts) and I think the new movie raised awareness
of the originals for newbies. What the hell franchise does Fox have, anyway? The
new movie did better than recent "Alien" or "Predator" movies and they've got a
new one planned for those. There is still interest and Fox is not totally
clueless about it. - - - Jeff

Didn't you download James' picture of the front page the "THE APE NEWS"? It's an ad in the upper left corner. I don't know why it looks so different! Maybe the artist just knew how to draw only one type of gun.<.html

I was wrong about the 30-30s. That's a much heavier load than the M1 .30 cal. carbine. According to reloading info ...
"At best, the .30 Carbine is enough cartridge for javalina and varmints at close range."
So I guess you could still be used for fox exec. hunting Rory. They're considered varmints, aren't they?

Well I think Lou Wagner and Buck Kartalian had pretty major supporting roles in the flick. At least they're still around (also the guy who played Dr. Galen). But I know what you're saying. Maybe we should start a POTA-Death Pool and lay odds on who is the next to go...

.html .htmlHere's details on those Fox Classics on DVD I told you about. I've read elsewhere that there will be three classic Fox films released as special edition DVDs every month starting next year. Let's see if Fox keeps to that promise. "The Day the Earth Stood Still" should be on the schedule and, I hope, "Journey to the Center of the Earth."
From DVDFile.com:
Fox also has three cinema classics on tap for January 14th, the first in their new Studio Classics series of restored and remastered special editions. One of the most decorated films in Oscar history, All About Eve features a newly-restored 1.37:1 transfer, first-ever audio commentary by Celeste Holm, Bette Davis and Anne Baxter promotional spots, "MovieTone News: Academy Awards Honor Best Film Achievements" and "MovieTone News: Hollywood Attends Gala Premiere of "All About Eve" vintage newsreels, a restoration comparison, the complete original screenplay, and theatrical trailers. Another Oscar winner for Best Picture in the lineup is How Green Was My Valley
, also newly restored and presented in 1.37:1, with extras including an audio commentary by Maureen O'Hara, a still gallery, the complete original screenplay, and trailers. Rounding out the slate is Gentleman's Agreement, presented in 1.37;1 full screen with an audio commentary featuring Gregory Peck, Celeste Holm and director Elia Kazan, a still gallery, the complete original screenplay, and theatrical trailers. Retail is $19.95 each.

Yeah, BionicBigfoot's previous Ebay names where
'Littleitaly' and 'Takjam137'. They appear to have no shortage of available
funds and don't seem to care what they pay for rare Ape items. Nice position to
be in I guess. They sell a lot of sporting memorabilia on Ebay. They also
collect The $6 Million Man, hence the BionicBigfoot reference.

I think the only reason FOX is after www.planetoftheapesonline is because
the name "Planet Of The Apes" appears in the web address. Very petty
and hard to believe that a billion dollar industry like FOX has time for concern
over a well done website that does nothing but promote their product and
encourage fans....for free, even! Word of mouth is very
important to keep the POTA franchise alive, but obviously FOX doesn't use common
sense because silencing a fan's appreciation and even asking him to flip
the bill for turning over the site just proves they care about one
thing- $$$$$$$$$.

hanging in his rec-room!)

Is the Carbine an automatic like the Thompson gun or is it like the bigger M1?
M1s, the rifle and the carbine, are both semi. A carbine is the designation for a light weight, short barreled, rifle. Often they fire a less than full power load, sometimes handgun ammo. There was a full-auto version of the carbine know as the M2, and both are magazine fed, from the bottom. The M1 Garand, as seen in films like Saving Prvt. Ryan, has a long, fully covered, barrel and was fed from ammo in a clip, which was pushed down into the rifle from the top. When the last round was fired, the clip would eject from the rifle with a metalic PING! sounds. I guess after firing a bunch of shots from a high powered rifle down range a little ping noise won't matter much. The Gorilla Sargent's sub-gun is the M3 "Grease Gun" They were .45 auto, and basically junk. Others of the M3s type like the Swedish K and the S&W M 76 were better. Chuck used an M 76 in The Omega Man. Here's pics...

Classics
Here's details on those Fox
Classics on DVD I told you about. I've read elsewhere that there will be
three classic Fox films released as special edition DVDs every month starting
next year. Let's see if Fox keeps to that promise. "The Day the
Earth Stood Still" should be on the schedule and, I hope, "Journey to the
Center of the Earth."
From DVDFile.com: Fox also has three cinema classics on tap for January
14th, the first in their new Studio Classics series of restored and remastered
special editions. One of the most decorated films in Oscar history, All
About Eve features a newly-restored 1.37:1 transfer, first-ever audio
commentary by Celeste Holm, Bette Davis and Anne Baxter promotional spots,
"MovieTone News: Academy Awards Honor Best Film Achievements" and "MovieTone
News: Hollywood Attends Gala Premiere of "All About Eve" vintage newsreels, a
restoration comparison, the complete original screenplay, and theatrical
trailers. Another Oscar winner for Best Picture in the lineup is How Green
Was My Valley, also newly restored and presented in 1.37:1, with extras
including an audio commentary by Maureen O'Hara, a still gallery, the complete
original screenplay, and trailers. Rounding out the slate is Gentleman's
Agreement, presented in 1.37;1 full screen with an audio commentary
featuring Gregory Peck, Celeste Holm and director Elia Kazan, a still gallery,
the complete original screenplay, and theatrical trailers. Retail is $19.95
each.

No, but I saw the trailer when I went to
POTA2001. The trailers were more memorable than the movie. - - -

Has
any'one' here seen this movie THE ONE? I'm thinking of renting the DVD
this weekend and wondering if I should bother. I think this movie should
give my surround system a good workout.

Fan sites getting shut down is the wave of the future.
No, pirate sites are the wave of the future.
I don't know why they would stop free advertising.
Shooting themselves in the foot if you asked me.
Fan sites should be protected under free speech. <.html

.html.html I think the only reason FOX is after www.planetoftheapesonline is because the name "Planet Of The Apes" appears in the web address.
I think if they're going to kick him off his site they should pay him big bucks.<.html <.html
