Well, yeah! But, for example, I would have cut the 3 monkey bit from PLANET. I would have given a budget to BENEATH so they could afford some decent effects and better background masks. ESCAPE would have gotten a better gorilla and Conelius dummy. And for CONQUEST better orangutans and more of them, kept the deleted fighting scenes and made Roddy do that shock table scene over and over until he got it right!<.html <.html

Yeah, that was done in post. I'm not entirely sure it wasn't done after release. I don't remember that burr being there originally. On the first film Chambers was watching to make sure they didn't soot the makeup's from certain angle to prevent just this sort of thing. So much for quality control.<.html <.html

Every scene in BATTLE.
Well, yeah! But, for example, I would have cut
the 3 monkey bit from PLANET. I would have given a budget to BENEATH so
they could afford some decent effects and better background masks.
ESCAPE would have gotten a better gorilla and Conelius dummy. And for CONQUEST
better orangutans and more of them, kept the deleted fighting scenes and made
Roddy do that shock table scene over and over until he got it right!

Is it when he says "fight like apes"
that the film is all blurred (looks like a "cover-up"!).
Yeah, that was done in post. I'm not entirely
sure it wasn't done after release. I don't remember that burr being
there originally. On the first film Chambers was watching to make sure
they didn't soot the makeup's from certain angle to prevent just this sort of
thing. So much for quality control.

Now I see that Rory is back in the new group. Are Jeff and Patrick far behind? Michael seems to have patched it up with everyone but Patrick. I know that some people have problems with Patrick, but maybe it can be smoothed over. While I don't agree with all of his ideas, I think some of his points are valid and he is obviously a big fan of POTA so he deserves a home. I think it is kind of cruel to tell him he is unwanted. If he joined the new group then he would have to accept some of the rules. It doesn't seem like he wants to do that right now and if he doesn't then that's his choice, but I feel out of the sake of human kindness that he should be given every last chance to join.
I joined the new group because I was invited by James and I wanted to continue my friendship with him and a few others, but I was leary about a POTA group without Rory or Jeff, two members whose posts are among the ones I personally enjoyed the most. Honestly, what I would want is just to have one POTA group. With two groups, you get repeat posts and that kind of stuff. Basically everyone that is in the POTADG right now plus Rory, Jeff, Patrick, and Joe (the young guy) and maybe a few others that I am forgetting are the only ones that ever posted in the old group. Yes I watched the McCartney special -twice (I taped it and watched it again
with my son, the 4-year old Beatles fan).
I saw that tour last May. It was amazing. That was the third time I saw

Yeah, it's kind of an alternate timeline
with all of us (including Patrick) posting one the film emporium timeline
without a care in the world while all this is going on. Why continue this group?
Because if we drop both groups and start a third group with rules we're back in
the same boat. I don't consider this a tug-of-war between "my" group and
"Michael's" group. I'd like to have a group where people are allowed to go
"off-topic" once in awhile (everyone has their own opinion what is off-topic)
and where people can be themselves (within reason). I don't want to take a vote
to see if someone can mention the game cricket. I will probably join the new
group; if people have questions I can answer I will do so. I can maintain in a
structured situation. But I will probably continue to do most of my posting
here. Patrick will always be welcome here and anyone else (except e-mail
forgers). The 100+ members? That's odd. melkor says they are legit lurkers. I
noticed since I've been doing the group history that the group went from 128
members down to 112 and now it's back around 118, all with no change in postings
(except for recent return of Dave and Matt). Anyway, I'm willing to live with 2
groups and have each stick to their specialty. I don't want to bore 100 people

.htmlMatt,
I don't know how many times I have to say this:
Patrick can join.
I doubt he will, because he wants to keep fighting, and he has left a
trail of casualties in other groups to verify this repeated behaviour.
I predict he will not join and will continue to attack me.
I made the mistake last night of thinking maybe ignoring him was
depriving him of a chance to make peace. Big mistake. His posts are
still hate filled and infuriating and in case you haven't noticed,
this will often encourage a response from me.
So I have returned to not reading his posts, and don't be surprised
if I never read another one.
BUT...he can join the new group.
The issue of rules on the new group is yet to be settled so as far as
I can tell, not only can he join the new group, but he can post a
typical "flame" or a 6000 word thesis.
So, I'll say again, Patrick can join the new group.
Thanks for your 2c, it was worth a million bucks!

Adam Ant ever had, the video of which (from wayyyy back in the early-

Caroline Munro. Every time I point out to ANYbody ANYwhere at ANYtime
that I "don't drink" and "don't smoke", I can't help but remember the
refrain from Adam Ant's song: hence, "subtle innuendoes follow..."
etc.
How the smeg does this equate me with Saddam Hussein? I am not now,
nor have I ever been, nor shall I ever be the "despotic ruler" of
this POTA site. Unlike somebody I could name, I've never wielded such
power to Censor or Banish a member of this site.

| Subject: Re: A Tale of Two Groups... |
.html*** Hmmm... Mike says I can join his POTA-DG site. Why would he say
that I can join? Perhaps because at least some people think
it's "segregationist" to try to keep me out, like when Blacks were
not allowed into "white" schools in Alabama.
We have Mike's own testimony in prior posts on this site that the
membership on his site (or, at least, SOME of them) joined in order
to "get away from" me. And in a private e-mail to me, Mike admitted
that he purposely didn't extend an invitation to me to join--and was
relieved that I hadn't attempted it--because of the "differences"
that some people had with me.
So, I think it's fair to say that I am not exactly welcome over
there, at least by some of those who regularly post there but not
here; Mike--the Moderator of that group--went out of his way to let
me know that I wouldn't be welcome over there. But, HEY, I "can" join
it, he says. Sure, I probably COULD join up, if I went out of my way
and tried to, and Mike would probably grudgingly allow it; but it
would be like the first Black family moving into an all-white
neighborhood in the 1950's or 1960's. They'd be ALLOWED to move in,
but they wouldn't exactly be welcome. And they sure as hell would be
made to feel unwelcome. And, considering that the One person with the
Power over there to Censor messages and Banish "troublemakers"
happens to be Mike, who still goes out of his way to be personally
insulting to me on THIS site, I'm bettin' that I'd last maybe 2 posts
over there before my input was either Censored or I was kicked out,
just as Rory was. Mike set the precedent for that.
I'd like Mike to clarify just WHAT "other groups" I have "left a
trail of casualties in". I post regularly at this site, at a "Logan's
Run" site, infrequently at the POTA-TV "Friends & Fugitives" site,
ONCE at the "FilmEmporium" site (which I just joined, and a hearty
Thank-you to Rory & Matt for the invitations to join), and 2 or 3
times at a "Zardoz" site... and THAT'S IT. Where's the "trail of
casualties", Mike? They DON'T EXIST.
For the record, my posts regarding you, Mike, are NOT "hate-filled",
as you term them. I don't hate you. I was appalled by your ACTIONS
over at your site: Censorship and Banishment. As I just told
Mlccougar in a response e-mail (to one he sent me), it appalls me
that a POTA fan, of all people, could not only condone, but also
PRACTICE Censorship of another member and outright Banishment "into
the Forbidden Zone" (as you yourself termed it). PLANET OF THE APES
(the movie) was co-written by a victim of McCarthy-era Censorship and
Banishment (the "Blacklist"), a relevant issue that I'm sure most
POTA fans know about... and YOUR BEHAVIOR was intrinsically no
different. It was repugnant enough to inspire Michael Wilson to
include much of his personal experience in
Taylor's "Tribunal/hearing" scene, and it is still appalling in
principle. It bugs the bejeezus out of me that a POTA fan would
commit such acts... but it happened. You did it, Mike, and I find
those actions appalling. Do I hate you personally? No. I hate what
you did. I thought it was appalling, and I explicitly stated WHY I
thought so. If you can't tell the difference between "hate-speech"
and valid criticism, then you're the one with the problem.
I do NOT want to "keep fighting". I'm sick of it. I wanted you to
admit that it was wrong of you (as it would be wrong of ANYONE) to
commit Censorship and Banishment. In a way, by allowing Rory to
rejoin your group, you've implicitly admitted it was a mistake for
you to unilaterally cast him out, but that's probably as much of
a "mea culpa" as we'll ever see from you.
Rory went on your own little "Blacklist"; like the trouble-making
Apes in Breck's city, he "committed an overt act of disobedience" to
your "Rules", and Breck started compiling his "Achilles List". I know
it pisses you off to see yourself compared to such real and fictional
people as McCarthy and Breck, but I'm not doing it out of hatred for
you as a person--I hate what you DID. My vociferous messages
regarding this matter have been directed at those ACTIONS of yours
which I can't help but find repugnant. I would be equally outraged at
anybody else, Mike, so if it seems as if I'm singling you out here,
it's because you are the ONLY one who has committed this kind of act.
And, for the record, although there are a number of other reasons to
just stick with this group (like Jeff's reasons, mentioned a few
posts ago), my main reason for not wanting to join the "other" group
is that I would't trust ANYBODY with the Censorial and Banishment
powers of a "Moderator", since I've seen how easily and quickly such
power can be abused. I WOULDN'T EVEN TRUST MYSELF WITH SUCH POWER. If
I wouldn't trust myself with the Power to censor/banish other
members, why would I willingly participate in ANY group which has
chosen to entrust those powers to somebody who has gone out of his
way to sling shit in my direction? I find it telling that Mike
doesn't even bother to read my posts, as he admits below: how, then,
does he "know" that what I'm writing is "hate-filled"? It's like when
all those offended Christians boycotted Scorcese's "The Last
Temptation of Christ" EVEN THOUGH THEY HADN'T SEEN IT, just because
they "knew" it to be blasphemous.
Oops! I went over 100 words, so I better wrap this up.

fan of POTA so he deserves a home. I think it is kind of cruel to
tell him he is unwanted. If he joined the new group then he would
have to accept some of the rules. It doesn't seem like he wants to do

out of the sake of human kindness that he should be given every last

wanted to continue my friendship with him and a few others, but I was
leary about a POTA group without Rory or Jeff, two members whose

what I would want is just to have one POTA group. With two groups,
you get repeat posts and that kind of stuff. Basically everyone that
is in the POTADG right now plus Rory, Jeff, Patrick, and Joe (the
young guy) and maybe a few others that I am forgetting are the only
ones that ever posted in the old group. What's that, like 30 or so
people? What do the other 100 or so (including the moderator MFulder)
do here anyway? If we all left, then there wouldn't be any posts in
the old group. I don't see the point in two groups really, but Jeff
seems to want to stick with the old one for whatever reason. I would
like a completely on-topic POTA group and all the off topic stuff can
go in Film Emporium. That was my reason for starting that group
anyways.

I think the way the Yahoo groups work is that every time someone joins they get listed in the number of members, but when they quit the number remains the same. So, in the old group there were listed 100 plus that had joined, but most were not getting the mailings anymore.

also changed my moderation to strict moderation for the same reason (NOT for

what he arbitrarily sets their moderation level to, it is always a state secret

I think the way the Yahoo groups work is that every
time someone joins they get listed in the number of members, but when they
quit the number remains the same. So, in the old group there were listed
100 plus that had joined, but most were not getting the mailings

The typical lurker is probably receiving the digest version of the group where

groups estimates of the lurker/poster ratio start at 10-1 and go up to 100-1 or
more. I don't know how many but I think there are definitely a lot of real
lurkers in this group.

That's
what I think too Jeff - a mixture of people who can't get off the list and
people who are not there for apes at all.
If we
had a moderator (and I have actually attempted to find MFLuder to ask that Jeff
be handed the "keys"), this could be fixed.

I think even a man as kind as you will agree that Stuart, who only finds 2 of

What's the plague of cats and rabbits all about?
On the Discovery Channel I see things. Ya know? I seen some tings. Like the Australian Rabbit Plague. Then there was the Rat Plague, which was countered by the introduction of house cats. This caused the Feral Cat problem, with cats wiping out native species. Much like that Bamboo Snake episode of The Simpsons.

12/3/98: Philip Noble mentioned a
then-current "People" magazine about a Nov. 15 memorial party for Roddy thrown
by Liz Taylor. Roddy didn't want a public funeral but a private gathering of
friends, which included Gregory Peck, Jack Lemmon, Anjelica Huston (daughter of
the Lawgiver), Liam Neeson and Michael Feinstein. 'Amazing Grace' was played on
Scottish bagpipes and it was noted that Roddy asked that his personal papers and
photos be sealed for 100 years. According to Feinstein, Roddy said it was
because "in 100 years, it will no longer be gossip".
Also: controversy over the location of Ape
City (the more things change, the more they stay the same). Steve Temple says
Ape City would be in New Jersey; Sam Rosenthal suggests that a bomb blew up the
Statue of Liberty and it "could have landed most anywhere in the general region
of southern Manhattan" and that Ape City was built over the Hudson River. Philip
thinks it's farther, maybe in Middlesex County.

Continuing the controversy, Chris says a fault line had to be hit, causing an

12/4/01: Talk turns to Serling's script for
the original; Rory says the dialogue is weak and gives away the Earth revelation
too early; Darren brings up the "stain" on Disc 4 of the TV show DVDs (DVD
rot?). He's assured that everyone's is the same way and if there's a problem
we're all in it together; More talk of the new movie; Alan Maxwell: "The problem
for me was not Burton - it was that Fox hired him but then put too much pressure
on him to make their film rather than his. In the end, we got neither. Hiring
Burton and then expecting him to make the studio's film defeated the purpose of
getting someone like Burton in the first place". Also some talk about the
longevity of the DVD

Peter Soddard of Fox video also said they've
dropped the "5-star" DVD label; so much for a POTA 5-star. He said 2003 will be
a big year for the "Alien" flicks on DVD. Since they are so similar to the POTA
releases (recent box set, non-anamorphic, sci-fi) I think they will judge
whether more POTA is viable based on sales of the new "Alien" stuff. He did say
they want to cut back production costs on older titles because they don't sell
as well. Well, you'll be able to see Linda harrison on DVD in the "Cocoon"
movies in early 2003. Also "1,000,000 Years B.C." . But no POTA. Please,

.htmlThe impression I get is that the POTADG site is "owned"/controlled by
at least 2: James and Michael. You'll remember that it was Michael
who prevented one of Rory's allegedly "off-topic"/"flaming" messages
from going through, and then kicked him out of the group. Mike admits
doing this himself, which means that he has to have at least as
much "pull" over there as James does.
I think of those two as sorta being like Octavian and Mark Antony in
Shakespeare's "JULIUS CAESAR", after they ascend to power following
Mark Antony's famous speech ("Friends, Romans, Countrymen... Lend me
your ears!"); granted, they were originally a triumvirate (with
Lepidus), but the third guy was edged out early on, and it came down--
eventually--to just Octavian ("Augustus") and Mark Antony. Come to
think of it, there's a scene in "JULIUS CAESAR" (Act IV) where the
three in the triumvirate are making up a list of people they're going
to have killed; when Lepidus suggests that Mark Antony's sister's son
should be on that list, Antony agrees and says: "He shall not live;
look, with a spot I damn him." That's all it took: he just made a
mark on a list, a little spot of ink, and that was that.
Let us thank our lucky stars that such "list-making" types aren't in
charge of this site. The Triumvirate had a list... McCarthy had
a "Blacklist"... Nixon had his "Enemy's List"... Breck had
his "Achilles List"... and the Im-Moderator(s) at the POTADG have
their little list going. Rory was kicked off it... then let back on,
recently... and now, it seems, Rory doesn't care to be back on it.
Mike says I can join their list if I want to, but it ain't gonna
happen. Those are telling words there, Melkor: "state secret".
Any "State" which keeps secret will eventually have a "Secret Police"
to round up the malcontents... and banish them into the Forbidden
Zone.

P.S. Hey, Kassidy (if you're out there still), remember: I'm not
lumping you in with the Authorities in charge of that POTADG site, so
don't think that I consider you culpable for these fascist tactics
going on. I'm just curious how these tactics sit with you; do they
bother you at all? Do you approve of what happened to Rory, and now
(see below) to Melkor? Doesn't it kinda creep you out, at least just
a little?

Since I've become the second person after Rory to be kicked out of the POTADG
group and Michael has now been forced to email everyone on the POTADG group
individually to get feedback outside the group I'll go ahead and comment on
some serious problems I found there. Ignore this if you just want to be left
alone.
I initially had high hopes for the POTADG group when James and Michael invited
me to join it. I did however wonder what happens when the moderators
disagree. I now understand that clearly. James is not just the owner of the
group, he's also a dictator increasingly paranoid of losing control.
When I brought up the idea that we could do a simple poll like the earlier
lurkers poll (which takes only one post) to see if the group would like the
moderation settings to be objective and open instead of arbitrary and secret
James immediately shut down discussion because he doesn't want to lose the
power of doing whatever he wants to do and do it in secret. When I remembered
that the group never finished adopting ground rules and asked Micheal to draw
up a document James immediately shut down discussion because of the same
reason, not losing his power of control.
Michael then drew up a reasonable document and emailed it to James for comment,
and James arrogantly told Michael (who is supposed to be an equal moderator of
the group) that James, incredibly, flatly refused to even read what his
theoretically equal moderator proposed. It was because of that arrogance that
I first realized the group has serious problems and was not at all what I
thought it to be. Michael then asked James if he could do a simple poll to ask
if there should be a set of ground rules and James told Michael he wouldn't be
allowed to do that.
Despite all of this, I never mentioned it publicly. Shortly afterwards
James threatened to kick me out of the group and changed my setup to strict
moderation NOT for violating any rules of his group but merely because in a
different (!!) group (POTA) I happened to have quoted his earlier public
posting that Rory was alleged to have been "one of the troublemakers of the old
group". When I mentioned that in the same group James immediately kicked me
out of his group (even though he claims he doesn't read the POTA group). He
also changed the rules (again WITHOUT consulting anyone else in the group NOR
even informing anyone else - which dictators can do) that people can be thrown
out of his group for what they say ANYWHERE ELSE ON INTERNET GROUPS.
Since James has lost all credibility now he should delete the group and let
Michael recreate the group with the same membership (it wouldn't be hard to do
and would be transparent to the members) with Michael as the owner (and ability
to set moderators). That's the only way I would have any faith in the group
again. You could take a democratic poll on doing that except that James never
allows any polls to be done he doesn't personally approve of. <.html

You (Melkor) seem to think that James is the sole dictator of that
site, and based on what you've just posted, I'll grant you that he
looks to be more of the control freak over there.
But... Michael was the first one over there to boot out a member
(Rory). And now James has booted you out. Remember when I pointed out
the "only statistic that matters", that THIS site, in over 25,000
entries has NEVER evicted a member for ANY reason, yet in less than
300 posts on the DG site, Michael had done so once... and, at that
rate, they'd last another 3600 posts before they ran out of members?
The other day, when I lurked over there for a few minutes, they were
up to around 500 posts. How many posts were they up to when you got
booted out? I'm guessing it was around #600 or so... which means that
I WAS RIGHT! They kick out members at a rate of 1 every 300 posts, or
so. Michael seems to HATE the "math" I use for my POTA scenario... he
must LOATHE the math I used to calculate the crashing & burning of
that "rival" site!
I wouldn't recommend ever putting your faith in that group, Melkor...
but, of course, that's up to you. They've fooled you once: Shame on
them. If they fool you twice...?

James is closer to a "POTA Stalinist" than a "POTA Nazi". The tactics used by
James and Stalin to silence people go further than what the Nazis did.
After Stalin purged Trotsky he gained control not only of Russia but also the
Comintern (Communist International) organization. Stalin intimidated and
censored not only people in his own country but also members of his
organization living in free western countries. How pathetic that people living
in the west were also censored by Stalinist tactics. I refuse to be subjected
to censorship in the Republic of POTA by the POTA Stalinist who rules the
the People's Democratic Republic of POTADG. <.html

This probably isn't the best time to unite
"Ape" fans, what with the infighting going on in this group and last night's
announcement that any new POTA DVDs are a long way off (have you hugged your
POTA DVD box set today? You two are going to be together for a while). But in
about 3 weeks the 40th anniversary year begins and I want us to renew our faith.
We can celebrate. Who needs Fox? Pierre Boulle didn't need them 40 years ago
when he put pen to paper. No need to complain; Fox has been very generous with
their DVDs, basically giving us the TV show collection out of the goodness
of their hearts, because they know no other way. But we're on our own this
anniversary.
To begin with, this weekend I want to take
stock and see where this group is at in terms of numbers. There's been some
controversy and no one can be blamed for calling it quits after what's been
going down here. So the Grand Experiment is this: I'm asking EVERYONE, please,
if you still are in this group (and maybe even enjoy it), now is the time to be
heard. I'd like everyone to e-mail the title of their favorite "Apes" films; not
necessarily the best one, but their personal favorite. You don't even have to
give your name, rank and serial #. Just send the movie title. We'll announce a
winner. If you receive this group and you never post, just do this one
thing.
Remember "Horton Hears A Who"? Horton
admonished the Whos to stand up and be counted. Now's the time to show each
other and those who think honest communication isn't commercial enough that
we're in this group because we want to share our interest and love of POTA in
our own way. As Horton said, ""Bang on a pot, bang on a drum...call on a
zilliphone, bang on your bum" (or something like that) and say, "I'm here!",
"I'm heRE!", "I'M HERE!". One post, one movie from EVERYONE, even those we never
hear from. That's my challenge. Otherwise, you don't exist, man! It must be
weird being you. And then what will you say when you're asked, "What did
you do during the POTA group, Daddy?" Future generations are looking to
you.
One post, one movie, from
everyone.
Oh, and this weekend will be the conclusion
of the Starcon panel, with more stuff to come. Thanks for your
attention.

OK - yeah, and you can add kangaroos - they are large
varmin and are treated as such.
But they're cute! Not as cute as
Kowalla Bears, but still, they're indiginous. And the rabbits and cats

Read it all the way through. Fox is saying "fuck you" to the POTA fans again. Unless we get together and start a massive write-in campaign we can forget about ant special editions of the classic series on DVD.
Here's what Joe Russo had to say about it in an e-mail to me:
RE: "BIG IF" (Man,that guy sounds like an asshole). Turns out BURTON'S
film did more harm than good -- it's responsible for all the apathy towards
the property (except for the die-hards). Zanuck UNDID the greatness of

Now, I'm telling you here that have DVD players, that care how POTA is treated by Fox, let's stop this infighting now and let's get together and do some good for the films we're supposed to be here to celebrate.
I just got a 16X9 HDTV and I can tell you that non-anamorphic DVDs aren't worth shit on high-end monitors. I know most of you are looking at your DVDs on anything other than conventional TVs, but "who knows about the future?" and if Fox thinks there's the demand for them the remastered discs will contain more extras.

Yeah, I'm sick of this shit! We basically saved their ass, and they have been less than grateful. When the studio was going under for the third time from the likes of Dr. Dolittle and Cleopatra, we pulled their fat out of the fire. And what do they do? Either placate us with sequels with dwindling budgets, or try and suck us in with a remake that's a lot flash and little substance. Without us they'd be nothing. But to them we're the redheaded step-cash-cow. I would consider boycotting Fox films, but I can't un-go to a movie 17 times, so what's the point.<.html <.html

12/6/98: Philip mentions an article by Geoff
Pevere in a local Toronto newspaper that talked about the impact of the original
POTA on the young (saying age 10 was the best age to see it). "The real reason
that POTA packed such a wallop for those who saw it young is that...it was the
first movie we remember seeing that was actually ABOUT something - - and
something other than a really cool story...of how the world we screw up today
creates the one we live in tomorrow...Today history is something we go to the
movies to escape, not confront". About the planned remake, the article called it
"troubling...the historical moment that gave the movie it's
subconscious-storming pungency is long gone".
12/6/01: Jeff mentions the Dec/Jan 2002
"Total Movie" magazine that interviews POTA2001 DVD producer David Prior, who
put the DVD in people's hands a record 4 months after it premiered in theaters.
Jeff added, "It's a given now that blockbusters hit big and fall off fast (even
"Harry Potter" dropped 58% ). This is the way it's going to be, open in a mass
of theaters and hype the hell out of it so people will see it the first weekend.
"Apes" made almost half it's U.S. money it's first weekend. So now studios want
faster turn-around time from theater to video (perhaps people will buy a movie
they wouldn't ordinarily buy because, hey, it was JUST in
theaters)".

This probably isn't the best time to unite
"Ape" fans, what with the infighting going on in this group and last night's
announcement that any new POTA DVDs are a long way off (have you hugged your
POTA DVD box set today? You two are going to be together for a while). But in
about 3 weeks the 40th anniversary year begins and I want us to renew our
faith. We can celebrate. Who needs Fox? Pierre Boulle didn't need them 40
years ago when he put pen to paper. No need to complain; Fox has been very
generous with their DVDs, basically giving us the TV show collection out
of the goodness of their hearts, because they know no other way. But
we're on our own this anniversary.
To begin with, this weekend I want to take
stock and see where this group is at in terms of numbers. There's been some
controversy and no one can be blamed for calling it quits after what's been
going down here. So the Grand Experiment is this: I'm asking EVERYONE, please,
if you still are in this group (and maybe even enjoy it), now is the time to
be heard. I'd like everyone to e-mail the title of their favorite "Apes"
films; not necessarily the best one, but their personal favorite. You don't
even have to give your name, rank and serial #. Just send the movie title.
We'll announce a winner. If you receive this group and you never post,
just do this one thing.
One post, one movie from EVERYONE, even those we
never hear from. That's my challenge. Otherwise, you don't exist, man! It must
be weird being you. And then what will you say when you're asked, "What
did you do during the POTA group, Daddy?" Future generations are looking to
you.
One post, one movie, from
everyone.
Oh, and this weekend will be the
conclusion of the Starcon panel, with more stuff to come. Thanks for your
attention.

I wonder if it would do any good asking Fox to license books based on
the TV series. They probably don't think anyone would be interested
but almost every sci-fi series has fans and fictional stories published
in books. Since POTA nearly created the concept of a blockbuster
sci-fi franchise how come it has so few fictional stories published? <.html
