the mutant credited as 'Negro' in Beneath although in the Beneath
herald and Archives cards he's identified as Ongaro.
He of course was killed by Heston in the film. Ever notice in
Beneath that as soon as Heston shows up, Brent gets relegated to
sidekick status. Heston is winning the fight. Heston kills the
mutant. Heston's girlfriend is killed. Heston has the final
confrontation with Zaius. Heston destroys the world. After all Brent
went through it just wasn't fair.

Taylor was commander of his mission while Brent was just a crewman.
So Taylor was higher ranked. Brent was never given a military rank
and Taylor's military rank as Colonel was never mentioned in Planet
or Beneath. That didn't happen until Escape. <.html

Hi Rob,
Ulysse Mérou was a French journalist on board the interplanetary
mission to the Betelgeuse system, no rank.
The novelization of Beneath gives a full name and rank for
Lieutenant John Christopher Brent of New York city. Did they not
also give a dog tag number, or was that the other Brent from Return?

.htmlSix years ago today Dave Pasco created this group and it has been one of the most popular & longest running POTA groups on Yahoo ever since.
Not only are we celebrating with a special Pic & sound clip on the Yahoo home page http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/Pota/ but one lucky member will get the birthday presents.
Just correctly identify what movie/TV episode & exact scene this picture comes from http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/pota/files/c1.jpg and win a prize package that includes:
- The Medicom Lawgiver figure.
- An original 1968 trading card.
- The novelization of the 2001 remake.
- Adventure Comics' POTA #1.
The first person who posts the correct answer wins.
Six years is a long time and this group has a lot of history that we are dedicated to preserving. I encourage newer members to explore the group's extensive archives and older members to examine the newer features such as the Database Section and Internal Website.
Happy Birthday everyone! <.html

Damn it all to hell, James. This quiz is NOT for the faint-hearted!
I have several ideas but I'll go with one WITHOUT even cross-
checking on the DVD (that would be too sad).
Is it from PLANET where Taylor, Landon and Dodge stop chasing the
humans and find the shattered remains of their clothing and
backpacks?

.html It's been a great August in this group. It was a daunting task
coming over here to revitalize it but thanks to everyone's help
we're off to a great beginning.
In the month of August alone we've not only exceeded the total posts
from January to July combined but logged in the highest number of
posts the group has seen since December of 2002.
Many new members have joined and many old members such as Rory &
Terry have come back.
And from here things will only get better. We have a major contest
planned that will be announced in the next few weeks. We are also
developing some new regular features for everyone's enjoyment.
Thanks again for helping to bring this old group back to life. As
good as August was September and the months ahead will be better. <.html

Manson." You can spot him at 30 min. 26 sec. on the DVD just as Taylor says,
"They look more or less human." Charlie walks in front of Nova with his ear of
corn.
Another favorite human of mine is the poor brute who gets a conk on the head
by a gorilla's club. It's at 1 hour, 12 min, 48 sec. He's the last guy into
the wagon after all the human are herded back into it during the hearing. I
like to think of the guy as every hippy in the sixties who got clubbed by a
cop.

This is the scene where Cornelius and Zira appear through the woods. In the next shot you
would have seen their heads appear in the distance. You can also tell the scene is at
night. I have a feeling the next contest will be close to impossible to win.

Hello
Just got your message. WOW, my favorite at the moment would have to
be Cornelius. Side Show said they would possibly do a set based on
the TV series. If they do, I would assume the Burke, Virdon, and
Galen would top the list.

+++ I wish J. Lee Thompson was still with us so we could ask whether
the original CONQUEST still exists.
I very much doubt it does. We're talking pre-video, pre-digital
editing 1972 here. And this is not the kind of thing a studio has
ever been interested in archiving. But hey, at least you can listen
to the Silver Age CD to hear what the music was like.

Sooner or later Fox will get around to releasing anamorphic transfers of the
sequels, but as to what extras will be included, I think it's best not to
expect a lot. You know Fox. Also, with HD DVDs out there on the horizon Fox will
probably yet again want to hold things back.

I think was issue #9 as it featured the ORIGINAL BOB LARKIN art for that issue which marvel editors changed GROSSLY for the real American edition. If you haven't already, also seek out the British POTA reprints for stuff like marvel's Killraven being altered by drawing apes over the martians! This is usually listed as Planet of the Apes Weekly.

I don't think that is Roddy or Linda. But I've been wrong before. If
anyone else wishes to take a look the commercial is on the Forbidden
Zone website http://www.theforbidden-zone.com/video/serta00_so.mov
BTW Does anyone know what happened to Linda Harrison's site? It's
been down for a few weeks now.

I think only the Defenders of the Faith were in on the complete truth, but
all they really knew was the fractured history left to them by the Great
Lawgiver in the Scared Scrolls. Zaius didn't know exactly how man destroyed himself,
only that he did.

Thanks for the prompt, Dan. I just checked out the TV Ontario
website (www.tvo.org) and they are playing the same double bill that
they did earlier this year: POTA at 8 p.m. followed at 10:10 by
Gorillas in the Mist.
They are also playing the interviews with the directors of both
films: Fraklin Shaffner, and Michael Apted, at 9:55 repeating at
12:20 a.m. EDT.
