We had Dialing For Dollars in Dallas too.
It was a local show!  That's where
Bowling For Soup got their name.
This format must have been
duplicated in other places.

Everybody should see Morgan! Another classic 'ape' film from the 60's. Just buy it, I found it
on DVD. I was going to name my band The Morgan Delts at one time. Warner was also great
in Straw Dogs. One of his better recent roles was in one of the Horatio Hornblower episodes.
Buy those too. Too bad he wasn't in Lidsville or I'd buy that.

I remember Dialing For Dollars. They showed Apes week during one of the school vacations I
remember. I think that was out of a Rhode Island station. I also remember Candlepins For
Cash, a local Boston show.

In POTA2K1 when Leo flips some switches in the
pod to do one thing, then switches them the other
way to do something else. Then he crash lands,
skids along the ground and up the steps, Burton
is copying himself, from Batman.  I saw it tonight
on TMC.  He's even doing tributes to himself now.

Not only that, but when Leo is fighting Thade
and the "Space Gun" changes into a Colt .45,
That's the same thing as in Batman as well.

Goofs for
Batman (1989)

yes, Lidsville was one of those drug-induced creations by Sid & Marty Krofft. It has been

I have never ran into anyone else who watched these shows. "Dialing
for Dollars" was out of Providence. I dusted off the old VHS tapes
yesterday. A whole lot of memories with those two shows.

Great movie. It's one of the three films Warner appears in where the
Titanic sinks.

The others were 'S.O.S. Titanic' and of course 'Titanic'. The latter
features POTA alum Eric Braeden. Poor Eric just doesn't have any luck
aboard ships.

I don't.  Can't say I really enjoy the mindset I get into when I smoke it.  I tend to eventually start thinking of things that depress me and then I get bummed out.  Also, I sure as hell don't miss hunting it down, often dealing with scum who sell it and spending all that money, then running out and having to do it all over again.  You can have that shit.

Pot's for kids!

Yeah, Breaden, back when he was Hans Gudegast, was in another Jerry Goldsmith scored Fox film called MORITURI.  The ship in that didn't fare to well either.

I watched Breaden (AKA Gudegast) get killed in an episode of COMBAT! a couple weeks ago.  They run that show on one of the Starz! channels.  I've also seen episodes with McDowall and Sal Mineo, and James Franciscus is supposed to be in one too.  All the music is by Leonard Rosenman, and just like damn near everything else he scored sounds just like BENEATH and BATTLE.

BTW, I wonder how Victor Newman is doing these days on "The Young and the Restless"?

Sounds about right James, was channel 11 wpix ? But yeah shows like Chiller / Creature Feature and even though I never seen or heard of it I'm sure " Dialing for Dollars" was about the same thing.

Hmm. It also has a different name in the credits at the top. Max Douglas appears to have replaced Richard Pace as the artist of the new comic.

Great movie. It's one of the three films Warner appears in where the

The others were 'S.O.S. Titanic' and of course 'Titanic'. The latter
features POTA alum Eric Braeden. Poor Eric just doesn't have any luck
aboard ships.

My nephews were so into Time Bandits when they were young that my brother was stuck seeing the movie several times. David Warner is such a good actor, too bad he doesn't get any major roles. He often is the villian in movies.

Yeah you put that perfect " Quality " is the key word there, not quantity, today's kids have a tough time avoiding the waste of time reality shows.

But do you think today's kids, teens and so on would get into POTA? I think they easily could.

OK, let's pull it back to something POTA related.

David Warner lost his head in THE OMAN, a movie that Charlton Heston stupidly turned down, and the one that Jerry Goldsmith won his only 'Best Score' Oscar for.

How's that, James?

Long live the David Warner thread!

Actually, I sick of it too.

Yes, Heston turned down THE OMEN because he was lazy and didn't want to have to go to Europe for the filming.  But no one regretted it more than him.  When it came out and was the huge hit it was, he was so mad at himself.  He really wanted another hit like that, but he blew it.  Big career mistake.

I can't watch the movie anymore without thinking how much better it would have been with Heston.  Peck is kind of a stiff.  I like Gregory Peck, but he's a little boring.

In the first pix they had posted, they just re-used their Cornelius

I think enough sharp eyed Ape fans let them know that there were
obvious differances in Roddy's make-up between the two characters.

Subject: Turmoil in the Murdoch Family
.html
.html.htmlFrom www.imdb.com:

Turmoil in the Murdoch Family
Last week's surprising resignation of Lachlan Murdoch as deputy COO of News Corporation has been attributed to a growing rift between him and his father, Rupert Murdoch. Today's (Monday) New York Times reported that the younger Murdoch had complained to several people close to him that his father interfered in his business dealings and undermined him, and that the "Old Man" must have been nuts giving the grrenlight to that awful remake of "Planet of the Apes." The newspaper quoted four personal acquaintances of both men and two high-ranking News Corp execs as saying that the bond between father and son had become frayed, particularly after his father gave him a dressing down in a meeting with other top company executives, then held a series of meetings with Jack Abernathy, president of Fox Stations, a unit that reports to Lachlan, without including Lachlan. The Times and other newspapers, including the Wall Street Journal , suggested that a secondary reason for Lachlan's split was the elder Murdoch's decision to include his two infant children with Wendi Deng in the family trust that will control News Corp after he dies or steps down. Meanwhile, former newspaper editor Andrew Neil, a onetime Murdoch lieutenant, has predicted that News Corp is unlikely to survive intact beyond Murdoch's lifetime. Neil, who edited the London Sunday Times, a Murdoch-owned newspaper, told Britain's Guardian newspaper, "The genius of Rupert Murdoch is his ability to keep [all of the realms of his media empire] together. ... Murdoch's genius dies with him."

(followed by the latitude and longitude of the ship in distress)."

Either way I like the new head sculpt of Caesar. Makes him look more
fierce.

With all due respect to the late Mr. McDowall, I don't trust his recollections on many things.  He said he couldn't remember making BATTLE at all!  Truth or B.S.?

I've closely studied pictures of McDowall in PLANET and the sequels, and I don't think it's the same sculpt, not even in ESCAPE.

I could be wrong, but I don't think so.  I'll study on it some more and report back later.

Glen who?  Does he live out there?

Anyway, it's kind of sad looking at those photos and remembering what took place there during that summer in '67, so long ago, so long ago.

It would be cool though to hang out there and watch the end of PLANET on a portable DVD player. But kind of sad too.

That's bull.
I may not be the sculptor that Brian is,
But even I can say that, that is as much
the same mold as Ringo played all the
drum tracks on the Beatles Albums.
Which, he didn't by the way.  Ringo
never said anything, but Paul would
often go back and redo his tracks.

I agree.
A good test would be to take similar headshots
mask off the hair and see if the members can
tell the difference.  They can't be recognizable
photos though.  Some pics I can spot by expression.
