Today is the official release date of the new comic "Revolution on the Planet of the Apes". So everyone remember to visit their local comic book store in the next few days and pick up a copy or maybe a few copies.

And after you've read it, be sure to stop by and let us hear your thoughts on it. More importantly, be sure to write or email MR comics to let them know. They are very eager for feedback by POTA fans.

So let's get out there and support the first incarnation of Classic Apes in the 21st Century. Hopefully, FOX will sit up and take notice.

The newest issue is now available for download from Hunter's site. This week see the birth of baby Milo/Caesar as the adaptation of Escape continues. Letter column fans will be disappointed to find their favorite feature missing again this week, but Roddy McDowall fans should be thrilled by the color photo on the back cover.

I work for UPS in Clearwater/St. Pete, FL and it wasn't in any of the comic dealers deliveries
today. Two places were expecting it to be.

It's me or ALDO from BATTLE is cooler than any other Gorilla in the
whole POTA saga? I just like the face, the costume, the way the
character has been portrayed... I think it's truly a great character,
and Claude definitely stole all the scenes he's in.

I would like to get my hands on an ACTION FIGURE one day.

What do you think about ALDO?

P.s: by the way, IT'S not the same Aldo killed in the beginning of
CONQUEST (apparentely, a Chimp) neither the 'Aldo' in the 26th century
which started the revolution in 'Apeline One'... but I suppose our
Aldo (Apeline Two) was among the Gorillas in Conquest anyway... and I
think you shopuld be able to spot him, even.

Hi Apes,

Since I'm STILL working on my TIMELINE (see my GROUP DATABASE ---> I
think I gave justice to either the most plausible Patrick theories
and the most common POTA conceptions) last night I chose to read
MANY of the past posts of this group for the very first time. I've
now researched and accurately studied at least 150 old threats, and
I feel quite able to 'clear up' a lot of things in the scenario
which just don't click with the reason departement :)
I'm overdone, really!

In defense of Patrick, I inserted a lot of theories in my FILES
section. I like to expose a different perspective to give to any
POTA fan 'the other side of the coin' so to speak.

Anyway I'm more and more convinced about the ALTERED timeline thing,
and most of all that the nuclear war ORIGINALLY took place in the
26th century. I'm not imposing my point of view to anyone, just
compiling a TIMELINE on the basis of THE FACTS ----> the movies and
the episodes. No strange interpretations, or made-up dissertations
which flow towards the PURE FANTASY.
DEHN flubbed, and yes I'm unflubbing the flubs but - in opposition
to Patrick (who I consider a genius in his own, however) - I'm
trying to do it in the most semplicistic way. Life is so complex, we
don't need to make it even more complicated!

My timeline has been stored in my Group:

Hope you'll enjoy it, giving you two cents. I need feedback in order
to modify the Timeline(s) the best way possible. I truly think it's
the BEST and MOST PLAUSIBLE POTA double-crossed timeline ever
written, even if COMICS and other sources are thrown off from the
window ---- POTA is still about the movies and the TV series in my
book.

Thanks in advance.

Tiziano Caliendo.

I don't know how common knowledge this is, but as far as copyrights go,
20th Century Fox (of course) owns the rights to POTA, but the following
persons also have registered copyrights to the franchise as authors:
Tim Burton, Richard D. Zanuck and Ralph Winter.

Funny, you mentioned Aldo. I was watching Battle the other night and was thinking how unique a gorilla he was. His character was solid. Mean.  Differnt kind of mean from Urko or Ursus.
Tell me again who was Jake in Battle and what part did John Landis play?

John Ladis was Jake's friend, and you can also see him during the main credits.  Landis (AKA the murderer) is the skinny dude with the long black hair and beard.

Well it's Friday so everyone know that means this week's Lesson from the Lawgiver has been posted. It can be accessed via the banner on the Yahoo Home Page or by using this link: http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/pota/files/LFTL.htm .

This is the third of a special four part Lesson. Be sure to check back Friday for the amazing conclusion. Thanks again to all who contributed.

Also, some additional word on the new comic. It looks like it will not be available for two weeks, specifically on or around 12/21. A nice pre-Christmas treat for POTA fans. In the meantime I hope everyone like the musical tribute to the comic on our Home Page: http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/pota/

I can see Caesar as a Moses-like character, but seeing as Christ was
supposed to be the son of God/God (depending upon your religion),
that analogy might be stretching things...=)

    .html.htmlFrom IMDb.com:

Animal Activists Ask MPAA To Halt Use of Apes in Films
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is praising Peter Jackson for his decision to use only computer-generated animals in the making of King Kong. The organization, which opposes the American Humane Association's position that properly supervised use of animals is acceptable in film production, pointed out in a statement that brutal methods are often used in training apes and chimpanzees and that they often suffer horrendous neglect after their film "careers" are over. The current issue of The Village Voice quotes animal activist Holly Hazard as saying, "We're talking about an animal suffering incredibly for a laugh." The Voice said that more than a dozen animal-rights groups have sent a letter to MPAA president Dan Glickman demanding that he support their cause and declare a moratorium on the use of apes in movies.

Yeah.  Okay, not so much in his later years.
But when he did that guest spot on I Love Lucy
he was pretty muscular.  Not so much in a
Schwatzenegger way, more of a Chuck
Connors way.  He was nearly always

He looked less muscular as ALDO, somewhat. Or not? After all, he was

You know, if there was any one thing I would go back and correct in
Apes, it' Aldo's role in the Conquest movie. In the novel and the comic,
Aldo is the one beaten on the steps by security when Caesar shouts
out. What a moment! Caesar risks all speaking up for his future memesis,
Aldo, and this starts the whole chain of events that leads to the
Revolution. It also suggests that the Aldo legend quoted by Cornelius
in Escape refers to a metaphorical, not a spoken, 'No', with Aldo
saying 'No' with his body and Caesar doing the actual speaking. The
novel and the comic really portray Caesar as harnessing Aldo's
rebellious spirit and, sadly, that's totally lost in the movie, which
I've always thought was a great pity.Had the real Aldo appeared in the
Conquest movie, Battle would have been an even deeper movie.John,

BTW Does anyone remember the name of the film he appeared in with

I believe in early drafts of Conquest there was an Aldo character
who was the personal servant of Breck, and he does eventually
say 'No'. It is unfortunate that rewrites caused that to be lost.

The chimp who gets beaten in "Conquest" IS named Aldo, so the idea is
still played through. The Aldo mentioned in "Escape" is silenced and Caesar
"speaks" for him. The first "No" winds up coming from Lisa. Later, Aldo was
turned into a gorilla for "Battle" and for the novels of "Conquest" (which I
think was written after "Battle" ) and "Battle". - - - Jeff

Jeff, I've delved into the mess that passes for my filing system and
by some miracle actually found what I was looking for.In
Dehn's 'FINAL SHOOTING SCRIPT, JANUARY 18 1972', Aldo is a gorilla-
'The waiters are crowding around the newly arrived gorilla'.This
looks like the script Doug Moench and John Jakes would have used, as
it includes the opening fugitive ape scene.Had we had a fully formed
Aldo in Conquest, the strife between former allies and friends in
Battle would have been a real factor in the plot, as opposed to the
fairly one dimensional bad guy Aldo is.One fun exercise is to
read/view Battle with Aldo as the hero---it's surprisingly easy if
you're rooting for the Apes!John, Scrolls.

I first strongly believe in the 'Altered Timeline' theory, that's not
a secret, I wrote a Mammoth Timeline revolving around this concept and
I still stick with it as a devoted believer.

Then, a strange thought popped in my mind: the COSTUMES in BATTLE are
IDENTICAL to those in PLANET and BENEATH. In-between CONQUEST and
BATTLE there are 27 years of 'evolution'. How do you 'unflub' the fact
the Apes adopted SUCH costumes --- identical to those the APES were
wearing in the 40th century of an aborted future? I know in BATTLE
they wanted to return to the 'classical' POTA look of the first 2
movies but... how do you explain this?

Anyway, the Ape costumes always seemed pretty 'futuristic' to me, and
the Gorillas' suits resemble those of the Astronauts (FUNNY). I love
    the costumes.

Just an FYI, but did you also notice that Caesar's costume in
COTPOTA, when he's with Armando, is the male chimpanzee costume from
POTA, BTPOTA and EFTPOTA done out in leather...

Here it is, the penultimate chapter in Marvel's adaptation of Escape From the Planet of the Apes. The suspense ramps up leading to next week's exciting conclusion! Will Hasslein succeed in his quest to safeguard man's future at the cost of the lives of three innocent apes?

Letter column fans will be excited to see the return of their favorite feature this week. As an added bonus there is a photo of Zira and baby Milo that you can print out and drop in to your Christmas cards before you send them out to friends and family.

This is one of the many reasons why I've always been a follower of the so-called "circular" timeline (I don't actually like the term "circular" but I use it because everyone knows what I'm talking about). To me it makes perfect sense that these costumes were invented by Caesar and friends when they started their new civilisation, and remained in use for the next two thousand years, which is why Cornelius, Zira and Milo were wearing them.

    Easy!

This is a particularly intersting issue. I love the picture. Any
idea how to save this to "My Pictures?" I've tried and a window comes

Also, I notice there is a letter there from "A Devoted (femal) Urko

Nice work, as usual, Greg. I have rarely said it, but I ape-reciate

I've always have liked the term 'temporal loop' or 'pre-destination pardox'. The Terminator is a temporal loop as are several episodes of SF series like Star Trek, Doctor Who and the Twilight Zone.

That makes perfect sense. But I'd bet the decision to use the same costumes was more for economic reasons than for creative ones. If Battle was produced today, they'd use different costumes as an excuse to produce a new line of action figures. (Which is why Star Trek uniforms were changed every few  years.)

Well, I saw KING KONG today...It is three hours and seven minutes
    long...
IMHO, it should have been shorter...The beginning is slow and drags
some, unnecessarily so...But, once they arrive at the island, it
becomes an exciting, fast paced, adventure...
Some of the CGI is "soft", which is a bother, but on the whole the FX
are great, especially Kong and the T. Rexes!...If you know the original
KONG, the story is much the same, but amped up!...Some of the characters are split into two people, and other characters are not the same as the original, but the performances are believable enough...
The relationship between Kong and Ann Darrow is developed nicely, and
Naomi Watts carries it well...She actually captures Fay Wray's appeal,
and takes it a bit further for this new storyline...
The ending is nicely developed, as well...The staging and blocking of the ending was the most "edge-of-your-seat" work I've ever experienced...
All in all, it's definitely worth the price to experience it in the
    theater...

    Tim,

Armando met Cornelius and Zira in their 'Ape' outfits, doesn't it?
Those outfits belong to the Apeline One 'Planet of the Apes'. That's
the main source. Armando moldeled the leather outfit after Cornelius
    and Zira.

So, basically, there's no real evidence the costumes in the last 2
movies make the 'Altered timeline theory' useless and incorrect.

    God I love this saga!

Do you like the HUMANOID APES in POTA 2001? I think the Chimps and the
Gorillas are fantastic, but I'm not so much affected by the Orang.
    They are too 'goofy' somehow.

    Anyway the make-up is TOP-NOTCH.

Well.....you're right! I didn't even think about that!
Maybe Armando was able to save Z&C's clthes (before
they were buried in an undisclosed location!) and kept
    them for Caesar!

This has always bothered me. Why would Armando dress Caesar in clothes
similar to Cornelius if he's trying to hide Caesar's identity? He
changed his name from Milo to hide any connection with C&Z. So why
would Armando put Caesar in a similar outfit?

BTW C&Z were never buried. Their bodies were handed over to InGen
    Corporation for genetic study. ;-)

I felt that the apes in 2001 acted more like apes. Elaine
