There have been several kits released of the starship although none of
obtained as high a profile as a company like Aurora would have
managed. What has been available over the years can all fit into the
description of 'Garage kits' - limited run and cast in resin.
Three are still available if you look hard enough: A large kit from
Monsters In Motion (Rory has this) A smaller version from Skyhook
(Rory has this too and this one is my favourite) and another version
from Wilco. The first two feature the ship sinking in the water, while
the third most resembles Virdon's ship.
As to why a plastic styrene version was never mass produced perhaps it
was because no one knew what the entire ship looked like? In the
60's/70's sci-fi and fantasy kits were very much the exception rather
than the rule.

I'm not sure it was just a cultural thing, it was also a chronological
one. In the UK the TV show was, for many, their first encounter with
APES, I remember many of my school friends were not even aware there
were movies! In the UK I don't think any of the movies had been
broadcast on TV before the series was shown.

We need something similar to fanfic only where we can add our

A 'Blogsite...
A place where we stand alone yet united. Where a comment is only

Unless you count Aurora, who did some of the best kits ever. I have a great
book that has pictures of every kit they ever did. I wish I still had my old
Planet of the Apes kits. I had Cesar, Cornelius, Ursus, Ape Soldier and Zira.
They were all very well done and I did a great job of painting them. The only
one I didn't get was the Gorilla on Horseback. It took me a good while to paint
Ursus!

A friend of mine, Doug, gave it to me years ago. It's about six inches

pictures on the site.

While they wouldn't be yours, they show up on eBay fairly regularly,
both the original Addar kits and the fairly-recent Aurora reissues.

I still have several of them built & painted (minus the bases). I even
have Caesar, Aldo and the aforementioned gorilla on horseback unbuilt as well as
the "Apes in a Bottle" scenes. When I'm short on cash I often get the urge to
sell the 'horseback' model it goes for over 100 dollars on eBay but I just
couldn't...

The first one looks like the one I have, only the one I have is painted.
The bottom of the ship is smooth and round. It feels like a resin cast now that
I think about it.
I really loved that ship and all my notebooks through Junior High were
decorated with laboriously scrawled drawing of it and the USS Enterprise
(NCC-1701). I even did a few drawings with a NASA style gantry and the second
stage I'd imagined they'd use to push it into space. I think my story telling
how Milo launched Taylors ship is still over at the Fan Fiction site along with
my ending for the TV show (grim) and an original story that takes place before
Taylor lands. All original characters in that. They'd make decent comics.

From memory Zaius was posed before the Alpha-Omega controls so that
makes sense. The Cornelius base was an odd choice as was the one for
Ursus (in front of a ruined house?)

Orson Wells didn't take the role of Ursus in Beneath,

He even spoofed himself in Casino Royale.

After a film had been run through all the 'First run' theaters, the
studios would release it to the second run theaters with a second
feature. The closest theater to me when I was young was the Walker.
None of the POTA films ever ran there without a second feature. Most of
the time all the Walker ran was double features. The only time they ran
a first run film was when the Marlboro (the closest first run theater)
was booked.

BATTLE as a "Director's Cut". General public could have been
interested, if properly informed.

in terms of cinematography.
I'm disappointed, quite frankly. We should do a new petition for
future DVD releases.

sequences. As far as I know FOX isn't planning another POTA release
until the Blu-Ray editions.

.htmlI'm not sure if the Extended version is a Director's Cut. The rumor is
that back in the '70s it was created because Battle was too short to
fill out a 2 hour time period on TV.

I believe there are two prevailing theories (and please correct me if I'm wrong):
The Return series is totally unrelated to either the movies or the live action TV series.
Caesar was successful in changing lanes in Battle and the world of Return is the result. Personally, I tend to favor the first one.
I really don't see either the live-action or cartoon series as having anything to do with the continuity of the film series, other than simply being based on them. The cartoon series seemed like an attempt to meld the vision of Boulle's novel with what had been done in the films, and although it was done cheaply, and got pretty silly at times, it was actually more interesting than the live-action show's concept.

If anyone hasn't seen Daniel Craig act before, check him out in 'Layer Cake'. Great film.
Great book too! I think he's the best actor to be cast as Bond yet.
I saw LAYER CAKE and I think Craig will be OK. The question really is -- WILL THE SCRIPT BE ANY GOOD?
Personally, I think James Bond has been tired for a long time. The concept got taken over long ago by such things as the DIE HARD films. I don't think there's really been a truly great Bond movie since GOLDFINGER. Even though the films have kept making money, and have had there ups and downs, it's really all kind of stale. Everyone should really be concerned about the script.
