I am trying to recall the people that had autographed chase cards included in the INKWORKS series of APES cards... I know of:
Buck Kartalian Natalie Trundy Jeff Corey
Who were the others? It seems like there was probably a Don Pedro Colley card too but now I don't remember... Anyone who knows all of the autographed chase cards, please post them... Thanks...

and is it also where Brent and Nova go in the cave?
I know the Burton film was shot there too...as Calima...

Tim,
The spot where the Ape Army marches and
the Lawgiver vision appears is in Hagen
Canyon at
Red Rock
Canyon State Park ,
underneath a rock formation named “The Acropolis”. This is on
a loop hike of a little over a mile in length, starting at the parking area on
the left just as you turn off of the highway onto the park road. I do
have some photos I will try to post in a few days.
I think the Brent and Nova cave is
somewhere in Malibu
Creek State
Park , not sure where.
I also think the Burton
“Calima” was filmed at the Trona Pinnacles at another location in
California , I had zero
interest in looking for any locations from that movie!

It was pointed out somewhere that they are not black bordered.... it just looks
that way in the pic...they have no borders.....
I guess it's pretty damn rare to have a test set for it to be worth that
much!

The British cards did not have Heston's name on the back like these do. Plus these are borderless-that's something black in the card sleeves not the borders of the cards themselves.

I will have to put on the DVD tonight and check out the chimp with Caesar in ape management!!

The point of my answer was that scene may have been filmed and it would explain the strange "looks" between Brent and Mendez in that scene. Also, Brent could have just thought that answer from the implanted qestion and his mind could have been read. The mutants might not be able to read secondaryl thoughts, but would be able to pick up free one - which is why they would know the truth when it is heard, by comparison. Scott B.

If so, then they would have never had to speak to him at all and everything could have been "thought" between Brent and the Mutants... ***

In the novel Mendez gives Brent an annoyed look in that scene because he telepathically tells Brent to "take off his mask". Brent thinks back to Mendez that he's not wearing one - which explains Mendez's miffed look and Mendez's curtness with the "city of the dead" line. Scott B.

I think the Brent and Nova cave is
somewhere in Malibu

Park, not sure where.

Yes, it is, but exactly where remains a mystery. I'm also not sure where the location is where Brent stops the wagon and unbridles the horses for just Nova and himself. I don't think it's Malibu Creek, so therefore either Vasques Rocks or Red Rock Canyon (I suspect Red Rock).
Oh, one other thing I wanted to say was that the scenes where Brent and Nova are being chased on horseback by the gorilla troupe (just before they find the cave), those shots with them riding along the tree line are on the same field that was the cornfield in PLANET and the "mowed" field the mutant army crosses to battle the apes in BATTLE.

In the movie adaption, I understand the meta humans, their the ones you see in Battle. What of the background of the mutes ? this doesn't seem to be explained in the movies....

Well, I just found this link. Mentions POTA near the end. Sounds like he means one of the full-sized Lawgiver statues, but they sure weren't made of stone. I'll keep looking to see if there's an email address for this guy.

Nice, but there's a number of mis-statements in the thing, and this bothers me:
"Not only was the film significant from a financial perspective (it was a smash hit when released), but it arguably became the first box office titan to spawn a multimillion dollar advertising explosion into movie related merchandise (a trend that people ignorantly and wrongly believe that Lucas started nine years later with his space fantasy)."
Well, I can argue with that.... Doesn't anyone remember that the James Bond films, I think starting with GOLDFINGER or THUNDERBALL in '64 and '65, had huge marketing campaigns, or what about Disney's DAVEY CROCKET in the '50s and HOPPALONG C
ASSIDY before that, or maybe even TARZAN in the thirties? And lest we not forget that in was the failure of Arthur Jabobs's own DR. DOLITTLE that killed any kind of promotional marketing for PLANET in '68, and all it's sequels beyond. It wasn't until the big ratings the movies got when first shown on TV that Fox finally decided on a campaign for APES.

I was there to see 'The Poseidon Adventure' (the first time I had seen Roddy without the makeup) and asked when Battle would be opening. They told me Friday, July 13th. I spent the next few weeks counting the days until the film opened. A wait made easier by a trip to Disney World the week prior. (We got back on the 12th.) I remember going bed the night before and trying to fall asleep as fast as possible so morning would come quickly. Sort of like on Christmas Eve.
The next morning I ran to get the newspaper (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pota/files/BattleAd.jpg) see the ad for the film and found out there was a second feature playing with Battle, the original 'Planet of the Apes' (which I had only seen once back in 1968). WOW, two Apes of the price of one. I was in POTA heaven.

The next morning I ran to get the newspaper (http://groups. yahoo.com/ group/pota/ files/BattleAd. jpg) see the ad for the film and found out there was a second feature playing with Battle, the original 'Planet of the Apes' (which I had only seen once back in 1968). WOW, two Apes of the price of one. I was in POTA heaven.
About 2 weeks later the theater did a marathon of all the films and I got to see them all yet again. But today is a very special memory for me and just wanted to share it with everyone.
I see from the ad that the same BATTLE/PLANET double feature was playing at the Wantage Theatre in Nassau county, the same theatre where I saw PLANET in 1968 and ESCAPE in 1971. I should have been on Long Island for all the films, but I got moved to upstate New York soon after BENEATH came out (damn divorces!).
Anyway, "OH, FOR A TIME MACHINE!"
Going to the movies today just isn't the same -- it just ain't the same!

I will let everyone know that when the Journal's do end we will have a new kick-ass weekly feature courtesy of Dave Ballard. Stay tuned.

.htmlYes, that's a video by Adam Odell. Video #15 is the one I have been waiting forever to be published on the Sideshow website. I had seen sneak previews, but I was sworn to secrecy.
Jessica.

Yeah, that was pretty good. The apes looked better in that than they do in BENEATH!
