Not really. It has been posed that it was Lisa.
Wether it is or not I recall someone saying
Natalie Trundy played the part, though it does
look like a different makeup to me, it may be.

One of Stone's POTA producers wrote the book
"Killer Instinct" and said in it that there was a Fox producer who kept trying
to get his ideas into it, wanting the human to teach the apes how to
play baseball "like the "Flintstones"". The Flintstones movie was a big hit
around that time (1994) so maybe that played into it.
I got to ask Stone about it in 1996 and he
was never really into the POTA project. He was just the name to wrap it around.
It was something his "Natural Born Killers" producers wanted to do, and then
after that movie came out he canned them even though that was his only hit in a
while. So Fox moved on.
"Greystoke" and "Gorillas in the Mist" are
considered Baker's best apes. Stan Winston called "Gorillas in the Mist" the
best movie apes ever.

I think Baker's first ape was in
"Schlock!", a "King Kong" parody directed by John Landis. The gorilla gets shot
down by none other than John Chambers. This was 1971, right in the "Ape"
era.

I think they had professional "ape guys" in
those. Someone named Alexander. Baker played "King Kong" in 1976. And shot down
King Kong as a pilot in 2005. And he's the ape smoking the pipe in
POTA2001.

As soon as Ashton hits first grade and is in school most of the day, I'm headed off to go to school fulltime so I can upgrade my degree from trained monkey to registered nurse. It may take 3 years or so but I've got to do it.

Much of what FOX has released on DVD as original director's cuts or restored versions of films were most likely found by chance rather than by design. I wouldn't be surprized if the same is true of the alternate cut of Conquest.

Back then, Jackson didn't have the
experience and reputation he has now. Without the support he got from New Line,
he couldn't have done "Lord of the Rings" and I don't think Fox would have been
that supportive. Jackson wrote a "King Kong" script that wasn't very good in the
mid-'90's. Since then he's got good writers (his wife and the other lady)so it's
a different situation. So it could've really sucked if he did POTA in the early
- mid-90's. And maybe there would've been no "Lord of the Rings", which would've
sucked too. If Jackson had done POTA maybe he'd be out of work today (though I
doubt it). On the other hand, it might have been cool and had Roddy
too.

The only problem is beards are too short.
It does however cut down on the time and
expense of using or making proper ones.
It's something you have to do unless you're
going to spend the money to have them made
or take the time to make them yourself. And
unless you plan on being a professional wig
maker it really isn't worth it for either the
hair, the tools, or the time. You've done
well though. Can't fault the effort.

Well what do you think of the upside down human hair beard that I
augmented with a LOT of fake hair? I first combed out the hair product
that the beard came with. I then ironed out the coarseness of the hair,
made it as smooth as possible. I put a large curl on it with a hot
curler....and then proceeded to augment the lace with fake dark brown
hair two strands at a time, until you could not see the beard anymore.
The human hair beard is just there for "volume & body". It
took bloody forever, but you can't tell that it's a beard. That's the
part that goes on Zira's forehead...an upside down human hair lace beard
augmented with fake hair. Can you tell that it's a beard?

about everything. Nothing is going to

alternative please post it. I wish I
could. I've mixed in wigs and even
my own hair. It takes a pro. And
if you read the article on Hunter's
site, John Chambers asks, "Who
made these wigs?" When the wig

It
was actually a human hair lace beard, but there was no way it could
have been combed and blended into the main wig without the augmentation of
the additional hair.

I think she said it was Lisa but she may not
have got what they were going for. They probably just told her to play the scene
and be seductive and she assumes it Lisa. But I'd say it isn't Lisa because it's
different makeup and she acts unLisa-like. I guess it's up to the viewer. If
it's Lisa that works too.
She also said she let them cut her salary so
they could pay Ricardo M. more. And she can't stand watching the electrocution
scene, she has to leave the room.
I looked at Joe's book "Revisited" to

I think the whole ending of "Conquest"
depends on Caesar hearing Lisa. That's what makes him change his mind
(interesting the first ape to say "No" says it to save the humans). And now
there's the original cut where she doesn't say it. Take your pick.

Going with a fake hair lace beard for her sideburns was a better choice than real human hair because it is much softer in texture. Still wavy, yes, but not as wiry as real human hair lace.
I have a three-day weekend coming up. HURRAY! I think I can really finish everything of Zira's costume/outfit/makeup this weekend and do some minor details next weekend. I can't wait to get my ape on. It's been a LONG time coming. I'll try to take lots of photos.

One thing that always bothered me about Battle is that they used reel to reel tapes instead of U-matic. Even in Conquest they are using cassette tapes. Seems like a backward step in technology.

Well, the whole editing of that ending is
pretty stiff. There was only so much they had to work with to totally change the
intent of the ending. But there's no question he changes his mind because of
her. Otherwise, there's no point in her saying "No" and no reason he changes his
mind (that they can "afford to be humane"). As it is, many people feel it's an
abrupt change (like the apes and humans suddenly being buds in
POTA2001).

It was actually a human hair lace beard, but there was no way it could have been combed and blended into the main wig without the augmentation of the additional hair.

It's been said before and worth repeating: Sometimes, a schoolbus
driving across the desert is *just* a schoolbus driving across the desert.
I once posted about Greene's interpretations that "If you broke it
down to a mathematical formula, you'd have: If (situation or incident from POTA
book, film, or TV show) and (obscure socio/political/historical fact), we must
therefore surmise that (logic defying and head scratching interpretation of
aforementioned incident)".
or
Fictional Element x Obscure History = BS squared.

That color is pretty good, Jessica, but I'd still add to it once you
apply the pieces to your face. I'm talking real stage makeup (I assume
you have a kit?). If you look at Hunter as Zira in PLANET, you'll
notice her eyes are are heavily shaded. Also, the teeth will need to
be darkened and yellowed.
A lot of work.

Umm...Yeah!
The "party" wasn't quite what we expected. My
son and I got there early, so we walked along Hollywood Blvd. for an hour.
As we were walking we saw a van unloading Palms and bamboo "jail"
walls. I said to my son, "this is gonna be bad!" Then we saw the
scarecrows; bamboo Xs with burlap. We decided to go up. It was an
18+ party and my son forgot his I.D. We go upstairs and the girl at the
"check in" said, "They just stuck me here. I don't know anything about
what's going on." Never checked our names or I.D.s. The place is
EXTREMELY small. We then see Zaius, Ursus, and Cornelius. things are
looking up. We go into an enclosed room with a movie screen. The
movie is supposed to start PROMPTLY at 4:30. This room is ALL
windows. It was 4:00 and still sunny outside. The apes are walking
around and talking to people. I see an Ursus cake and go over and take a
couple of pics of it. I go to get pics of the apes and my batteries died
(Sorry). Soon more people show up. It seems everybody knows
everybody, except us. We're feeling extremely out of place. I then
hear someone telling someone else that there are people here for Michelle and
people here for the apes. It turns out this was a surprise birthday party
for someone named Michelle who is a POTA fan and they hired the 3 apes. My
son said we should leave. I still wanted pics but my camera was dead and
my son's phone didn't have a flash (other than the screening room, the place was
darker than most clubs). I wanted to wait until I saw someone who was
there for the apes. Then, everybody's "FAVORITE" authority on POTA walks
in like he is the main attraction. At this point, I'm disappointed,
feeling VERY awkward and out of place, and no way to take pics...so we left at
4:45. By the way, the movie did start at 4:30, but we couldn't see a
thing, except in the bar area, where they had 2" screens all over-the
place. And the raffle prizes...BluRay discs. After that fiasco my
son said, "At least we can say we went to a Hollywood party." Maybe
someone else that went has a different take on it, but that's my 2
cents.

It's been over twenty-five years since I last got into this stuff, so
I'm not really the one to ask, but I would imagine that all matte
makeup powders are pretty much alike. I'd suggest first just going to
your local Walgreens or whatever drug chain is close to you and buying
something like Maybelline or some other known brand and see how it
works.
Shouldn't cost too much either. You also should get some makeup
applicator brushes while you're at it.

Jess, Get transluscent or no color
powder. If you think it looks too matte after powdering, you can always
dab the make up with a damp cooton ball.

Also, Ben Nye would be the least
expensive. Most powders work the same, as long as they're transluscent or
no color like I said in my last message. In a pinch, baby powder, lightly
applied, will work. But, it will lighten the make up twice as much as the
transluscent kind.
