and as you can see, the TV show premiered on Sunday, October 12, 1974 on
London Weekend Television at 7:25.

Lots of scoops about Tim Burton's "Alice in

sorts, with Alice returning on the verge of marriage. Maybe a rethink like
"Hook" did for "Peter Pan".

Sorry about that Bill, that last one was a reply
to a post on the PotaDG group and I made a slight snafu by cross posting it to
both groups. It won't happen again.
I'm also sorry that you don't seem to appreciate
the importance of what has happened here.

I'm the guy that posted it, but the cover only had a text blurb about the pinup. Otherwise it was the usual teen idol stuff and unremarkable, I wouldn't remember it now if I saw it again. I alaways cut out anything related to what I was buying it for and threw away the rest.

Are you looking to replicate the Mego gorilla vests or the actual prop? I found a vinyl at Joanne Fabrics that was pretty close. The one side was vinyl and the other side was cotton. You have to remove the cotton with nail polish remover but it's really good material to use.

Frank Darabont, an acclaimed director ("The
Shawshank Redemption" and "The Green Mile"), says the movie studios specifically
shy away from "smart" movies. In particular, he's been trying to remake
the sci-fi classic "Fahrenheit 451" for years: "Hollywood doesn't
trust smart material. If you show them a really smart script. I actually had a
studio head read the script and say, "Wow, that's the best and smartest script
that I've read since running this studio but I can't possibly green light it" I
asked why and he says, "How am I going to get 13-year-olds to show up at the
theater?". "
Darabont, a POTA fan, was one of the
potential directors of what became POTA2001 but reportedly turned it down
because he knew the studio was going in the wrong direction with the script.
So who's at fault? The studios or the
audience? Not an easy answer.

Well the thing is
that I was dealing with it in private but nothing was done about it until I
reluctantly made it a public issue on the groups Bill.
At least they were
POTA related posts unlike a lot of stuff lately! ;-)

I saw Saturn 3 and the only reason I went to see it because of Farrah, I 've seen better films on bathtubs when I saw this
turkey of a movie. I agree with you on Farrah being a wonderful actress and she will be missed.

Sure, Farrah's off-topic but she's something we all share. Like POTA she's part of our growing up. IMHO her passing justifies bending the rules a little.
We're hoping to have a fitting tribute to Mort in that poor value for money, vipers nest of lies, corruption and stolen material; Simian Scrolls.

.html POTA
Its been a sad day for me having celebrities pass
away that were always a part of my life.
It reminded me again about how much we have to do
to keep this POTA legacy going. Almost everyone involved in POTA has
now passed on.
What can we do to keep the interest going for
another generation ?
It also reminds me that we are all aging personally
and paying constant tribute to a film over 40 years old. Time keeps
ticking by and its a shame that the past continues to wither
away. The past keeps getting swept under the rug.
Everybody forgets and new children are born that have no idea of the
past.
How are we going to get a 10 year old child today
to have any interest in any movies, music, nostalgia from the past as they are
bombarded with more and more products currently?
I think the #1 answer is to continously give POTA
some attention in the media.
Obviously a new movie is the best way, but until
that happens I wonder what are the next best choices?
New products, new fanzines, Wikia site, archiving POTA data and
photos. Obviously it all helps - but who are these products aimed at
? Its a new generation of fans we have to attract!
I think we are all on the right track but POTA
fandom is shrinking quickly and we really need to jump into this more before
even we are gone !
Any thoughts ? <.html <.html

If you want to get kids interested in APES you'll need a kick-ass video game to hook them.
Today's movies aren't made to last, they're made to appeal to short attention spans. They're theme-park rides, they dazzle and wow and make your jaw drop but how many do you remember even just one month later?

that is a good point ! Video games
definitely work with the younger generation
we have to attract them in a new way
and i think the internet is going to be the key of
future success
I think BrokenSea doing multi media is a cool
idea
but now we need the promotion to get more people to
hear about it
I think YouTube, Facebook, Twitter etc. are great
sites that need to be used somehow for promotion
Anyone have any ideas how we can use those to
attract young new people ???

.htmlHappy friday everyone! This week's installment of APE CITY CHRONICLES is now available.
To access click on the banner on the Yahoo Home page or use this link: http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/pota/files/ACC.htm
This week is also the 35th Anniversary of Marvel's POTA magazine. In many ways the summer of 1974 was the summer of POTA. There was the GO APE! marathons hitting movie theaters. It was also when the first wave of merchandising hit. The TV series was going to premiere that September. And Marvel started publishing the wonderful POTA Magazine.
To celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the magazine and the summer of POTA, a mini-site has been created featuring scans of that first issue. Now those who don't have CBR or PDF software can read the magazine on right on their comuputer screens. We'll be doing the same for the 2nd and 3rd issues thoughtout the summer.

For a moment there I thought you were talking about the NY Post. But Simian Scrolls is a great value for the money. It has reach a pinnacle of excellence, not only among POTA fanzines but of all fanzines, that others can only aspire to. While as POTA fans we welcome Terry's Ape Chronicles and Michael & Neil's Forbidden Zine, Simian Scrolls is still the best.

Any Fanzine is only as good as its contributors and Scrolls has been blessed with the help of some awesome talent. If we're any good - and we leave that for others to judge - it's because we're given good material to work with.
We're still working hard on issue 16 and hope to publish late Summer.

.html LARP = Live Action Role-playing,
A form of role-playing game , play may be very game-like, or may be more concerned with dramatic or artistic expression.
In 1981 the International Fantasy Games Society (IFGS) started, with rules influenced by Dungeons & Dragons. Early LARP subculture focused on Tolkien-like fantasy, but it later broadened to include appreciation of other genres, especially the horror genre with the rapid uptake of the World of Darkness setting in the 1990s.
Some LARP rules use of simulated weapons such as foam weapons or airsoft guns to determine whether characters succeed in hitting each another in combat situations.
Paintball - a sport in which players eliminate opponents by hitting them with pellets
made of gelatin and washable dye. The Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association estimates that over 5.4 million people played the game in the United States in 2007, with over 1.5 million playing at least 15 times.
Games can be played either indoors or outdoors and take various forms which are generally divided between Woodsball played in natural, wooded terrain and Speedball played on open, level fields with artificial obstacles.
Rules for playing paintball vary widely. The most common form involves capturing a flag
or simply eliminating all of the other team's players, but games to eliminate a specific player, defending or attacking a particular point or area, or retrieving objects hidden in the playing area are also common outside of Speedball. Depending on the style of paintball played, a game can last from seconds to hours.
Would anyone like to join me in developing a POTA themed LARP combined with paintball ? BTW I'm living in Arizona nowadays. <.html

.html'Amateur' means 'doing it for love'.Terry, I'm sure, makes no money out of Chronicles.I know Scrolls doesn't remotely turn a profit. But the fun is priceless. The friends are priceless. The whole fanzine experience, good and bad, is priceless.Apes is too wonderful, too enduring and too bloody perfect not to have multiple fanzines.I wish The Forbidden Zine every success and I will definitely buy it---I'm looking forward to it.I love being an Apesfan.John, Scrolls.
