Work continues on the book, but things have been quiet blog wise and will probably be that way for a while yet. So to keep you guys occupied, I figure I'll share a link that was shared with me this morning via Chris Roberson's blog.

Bruce Ross is a guy who makes cool custom action figures, and here he takes a crack at General Ursus. While I don't think it's a dead on likeness, it does make for an interesting Apes soldier at the least. Next up, he's going to tackle Dr. Zaius. I'm curios to see how that one turns out.

There are more pictures at the site along with commentary by Ross on inspiration and materials used to make it. Check out some of his other figures as well, some of them are really awesome.

In the coming upcoming department, we plan to begin profiling the artists working on Conspiracy of the Planet of the Apes sometime in October, so be on the lookout for that. And we'll have updates for you on the novel's progress, conventions we'll be appearing at and more in the months to come.

Until then, fellow Conpsirators. ..

Thanks, Peter.
Yeah, the only problem with using different tracks is that the "Loop Music Maker" only provides you with so much music to work with.
Although it has a lot of different loops, there's only so many that sound cool. :o) But I think there's always room for a few more good ones to invent.

I did these around 9 years ago when POTA2001 was still in the making. So I was inspired at the time to do something really cool and creative then.
I really don't have that kind of time on my hands these days but who knows, If FOX's "Ceaser" ever gets off the ground, I might just be re-inspired to make another batch of POTA MP3's. I only have this one "Loop Music Maker" but I'm sure after 9 years there must be a whole boat load of new "Loop Music Makers" out there ready to be adapted to more cool POTA MP3's.

I'm glad your enjoying them.
New MP3's.... never say never. :o)

Hi Al,

Just downloaded and listened to your music, they are great, nice work.

Will you be doing any more?

Perhaps you can do some tracks of the live-action tv series, maybe.

Just one litle thought, though, perhaps you could redo the ones you have with each track having different music.

But otherwise a job well done, I have listened to the tracks 4 times now.

Peter.

Don't worry, there's 2 more polls which you can vote.

Peter.

PS: Actually the poll was a test to see if Chuck's movie POTA would be the winner,in all honesty I had a feeling it would win anyway. I just wanted to know if anyone would vote and the movie they would pick. Parhaps the apesters that did not vote don't or have not seen the other 2 movies.

Anyway it's all fun,as the saying goes, "The only good non-voting apester is a dead non-voting apester".

Here are the links to the two new polls:

  1. From the live action TV series, which do you think is the best human guest star?
  2. From the live action TV series, which do you think is the best simian guest star?

Great questions considering we are coming up on the 35th Anniversary of the TV series in a few weeks.

And as they say in Chicago, 'vote early & often'.

The figure is just something a POTA fan made on their own. It has nothing to do with the Conspiracy novel being published next year.

Dear Hot Toys,
I am a Planet of the Apes fanatic. Word on the apevine says that your company is not going to make any more apes due to the other newly acquired licenses. The boxes of your gorillas portray Zira and Cornelius. I refuse to believe that there are no apes in your future. Please let me know if the rumblings on the internet are true, that you are no longer going to make any new apes. I will be devastated if this is the case.
We ape fans await the coming of more apes. Hot Toys cannot just stop at the gorillas.

I lost my set of Burton Topps card scans in a recent hard drive crash.  I had the animated cards, which I donated to the group a while back.  Would you be kind enough to send me scans of the Topps cards to replace the ones I lost?  It would be greatly appreciated.  I have lots of other card scans (other than Apes) if you would like something in return.  Please let me know, and thanks in advance.

Greetings fellow conspirators!

Our first Conspiracy of the Planet of the Apes interview is up! The good folks over at the Adventures in Sci Fi Publishing podcast have been doing a bunch of post-SDCC coverage, and as I mentioned back here, Lou Anders had interviewed me for the show.

The main interview for this episode, conducted as always by host Shaun Farrell, spotlights two of this years L. Ron Hubbard Presents: Writers of the Future contest winners. The SDCC interviews, beginning with mine, come in at around the 37:26 mark. It's OK if you skip ahead to listen (I won't tell), but don't forget to check out the rest, as I've said before AISFP is a podcast worth subscribing to.

Episode 83 of AISFP is available now, go listen and spread the word!

Eight buck for shipping???? What a ripoff. Standard priority mail is only $4.50. Some of these sellers on ebay really have a lot of nerve the way they overcharge on the shipping fees.

Eight buck for shipping???? What a ripoff. Standard priority mail is only $4.50. Some of these sellers on ebay really have a lot of nerve the way they overcharge on the shipping fees.

It's a great set and I am still thrilled with it.They didn't play fair with us in the UK (no book, crap packaging, no timeline) so I had to shell out for both, but the documentaries and extras show that some effort was put in.I'm hoping for the tv series on blu ray now.It was done on film lines, so should look good and they interviewed Booth so there's an extra right there.John, Scrolls.

Oh, Scott! There you go again!

Actually I'm surprised by this. Just watched PLANET again on Blu-ray
last night. Still bothered by the HD DTS Master Audio mix and can see
that image quality can still be improved, but I'll guess the award was
based on the merits of the entire package. PLANET on Blu-ray is still
better than the standard DVD, but I prefer the DD 5.1 mix of the 35th
Anniversary edition over the new DTS one. I have no complaints over
the quality of the sequels, only I think the original should have
gotten Fox's full attention and its own release. Holding the sequels
back another couple of years would have meant that Fox could have
doubled-dipped on PLANET on Blu-ray too, but I'll bet they do that
anyway!

I ordered this figure when they were announced and received it about a month ago. I think it looks fantastic overall. They even put a light coating of simulated dust on the boots. Only a couple of nitpicks - the eyes could have been painted a little better, and the doll is designed to fit in his right hand with the head pointing down(?) for some strange reason. You can get him to hold it with the head up, its just not as secure. I certainly would like to see Sideshow do more of these, for sure.

I agree with you, Tim. The gorillas are awesome. The intricate details are incredible, the painted shells in the rifle magazine and the jailor's key, for instance. Really great work. I was also not sure about the wire supports. The only photos I've seen show the wire bracing the inside of the legs, even though that looks a little odd!
