Alex, you sound like you're off your meds or something. RISE is a PROJECT X remake?!!!! That's the kind of thing I'd expect to read in the comments section at Aintitcool.com. You're no seeker -- you're negative! Take a happy pill and think things over.
Anyway....
I wouldn't get too excited about this OZ thing. This time they plan on having the flying monkeys come out of Franco's butt.

Not only will he might be president but also on my part I may have little to no enthusiasm to even care by the time november roles around.
I maybe shutting down the site this weekend. June would have been nice but november? I really don't see myself hosting until then.
Hosting sites has really become bordsville for me these days. I guess I've just been doing it for far too long.
No real enthusiasm for it whatsoever. Especially now that we have to wait until november. It might as well be 10 years from now.
I'm out of this "Project X" remake.

.html.html They can have it. I'll even let them know when it becomes available, 3/18/11 A.D. :o)
That's when my domain name contract is over.
I simply look at it this way, if the film is a success I'll only be tempted to countdown a sequel. And if it isn't, I would have wasted my time counting down something as dumb as Burton's POTA. So it's a no win scenario either way for me seeing that I'm pretty much done with websites all together.
I could have held out for June (only 4 months away) but november? Last time I checked I wasn't Fox's bitch. :o) But anyway, next thing you know they'll cancel november and set it for the follwoing summer next year. Forget that. This is turning into an astronomical waste of time either way you look at it. They might as well release it directly to DVD and spare us all the pain of another Fox remake. Believe me I'm totally cool with my decision.

It's all a plot, Al. Fox just wants your domain name. You must be strong! You domain man!

.htmlGot to say, I also prefer the first version---can't fathom why they'd go with second version.First one leaps out.Maybe they don't want the Chimp obscured, but the first one is a great cover. As I understand it, the two covers are not straight alternates, but cover B (this one?) will be a deasler incentive bonus, depending on numbers of cover A ordered. In other words, it may be difficult to find.If anybody wants to tell BOOM!, Scrolls will selflessly offer to use the original cover B as a cover. We're big like that! Whether that be DVD, November 2011 or Christmas of 2050, I'll be looking forward to seeing it. :o)

Again thank you so much for finding thes articles and sharing them with group. I remember the 1973 marathons very well. The first one was done the day before Battle opened. Unfortunately, I couldn't go to that and was very upset at the time. Luckily, the first one did so well, they did it another marathon about 2 weeks later which I was able to attend.

Whether or not you have a countdown website is one thing, and if you're done with websites then so be it, but what does that have to do with RISE?
I don't understand the negative attitude towards the new movie. Is it just because it's not going to be an exact replica of the old movies? Are we APES fans or not? What good does it do to have a negative attitude. Let's just hope Fox has something better than their usual product here and it does well. I'm disappointed too that it's not coming out in June, but that's no reason to say to hell with the whole thing. This is like a spoiled child having a hissy fit.

They can have it.

And as for no longer web hosting, the only thing "RISE" had anything to do with it, was simply the change of release date.

Apes were never about comics and toys as such, just good movie making and thats how come all the periferial stuff (comics, toys) started, the films were great and thought provoking even at their cheapest. The word is great on this new apes film and it is sincere as compared to the 2001 film where no one said the script was great and blah, blah, and its a film I feel that can
combine the two versions, Burtons and the originals. I think the space program in this film is suppose to be robust and during this time the U.S. send out a mothership with experimenting apes and so on in outer space for whatever reason (Burtons Film) and at the same time the experiments and this new "Birth of the Planet of the Apes" are going on here and create the Apes we know and love. Their are now two(2) planets with talking Apes and it can be very fascinating.
We heard that it was supposed to be a new set of films tied to the originals but a cast member and some techs leaked out that it ties in both Apes mythology and I feel that can work as I said.

Hey, don't get so down. I'm certainly not, and yet I was the one running the site. :o)
I'll be enjoying all the hoopla leading to the movie like everyone else here. I'm not down at all, just relieved. Relieved that after 14 years of hosting sites that I've been finally able to let it go.
For once I'm just going to kick back and enjoy it like everyone else. You'd be surprised how spoiled (knowing all there is to know about the movie) one can get running a countdown site. By the time the movie arrives, you know the movie - totally inside and out. And it truely does spoil the whole adventure of watching it for the first time in theaters. So this whole november thing is truely a blessing in disguise in more ways than one for me.
Believe me, I feel so good about it, I'm on fire! It couldn't have happened in a better way.
Thank you, Fox! :o)

The Story takes place in 3 different time periods, but the core Story takes place about 20 years After "Battle"

I hadn't yet listened to these when I posted (because they are buffering nightmares), but Landis's commentary for PLANET is full of a surprising amount of misinformation, but what he says about BENEATH is interesting (Especially the James Gregory story), and although I don't agree with him that the final mutant makeup was "shi##y," I do agree that the movie is pretty much trash.
It'll be interesting to hear what others here have to say.

These are early days. I don't believe we should be hearing too much about this movie just yet. Some aspect of it could get bad word of month and that the studio wouldn't want to spend months fighting it. Better to keep it quite until the publicity machine is ready to start up -- and that will come.
My sense is that there's high expectations and great curiosity about this thing, and that Fox is going to make a great deal noise about it -- just don't expect much until the fall.

In my opinion they are waiting for the CGI apes to be completed and then the push will be on. I feel that push will not start till the late summer as is the case for Fall-Late Fall movie releases. This panic is definitly Burton-itis and he really did alot of damage to the Apes mythos. If we dont write more positive posts, and remember that everyone involved is incredidibly excited and positive about script/effects and I dont feel its just part of their job(I dont remember anybody praising the Burton film before release except of their love of working with him),
Its only February, everybody relax. Remember the original 1968 Apes came out in the no mans land of February 8th. No holidays no nothing and look what happened. A November thanksgiving release will go on till New Years with even the slighlist "legs". The greatest movies come out without summer help(atleast in the past) and to me this is nothing to be concerned about.
It will take till the summer until we see anything as close to a teaser trailer or photos and legit articles in major rags and TV.
Remember they are redoing Planet (1968) and I hope evntually all the original films at that resoration house in California, their are these comics(which dosnt fascinate me) a new Apes film with what seems to be good if not great writing so lets not act like a bunch of downers, its depressing. If this film fails it wont be because its a bad film it will be because the public just dosnt know what they want as Apes go..Fox is in a tough spot and for the first time im proud, for lack of a better word, of them......John M.

Well, I prefer Simiantology to Caesaranity, which sounds more like a difficult birth. And yes, anything with 'Bomb'in is out as, even though it's confidential, just because you're paranoid doen't mean they're not watching you.The religion question over here is voluntary and years back the Jedi campaign got going to get enough numbers to be officially classed as a religion.Last time out, there was a BIG row in Wales, because , under 'Race', you could put English, Irish, Indian eytc, but NOT Welsh. My wife blew a gasket, being Welsh, and we acquired stickers to stick on, with the Welsh option added. This, we were then told, was criminal defacement of an official census , and a crime.Thousands did it anyway.I had no excuse, as I stuck on the sticker that added in 'Welsh' and then ticked 'Irish'anyway.I know Zira would have done something similar! Simiantology it is! John, Scrolls.

Maybe that "Rise" photo was released as a nod to Franco being nominated for a Fox film on Sunday, but I have a feeling they are going to release more photos soon. I think the first trailer will hit with "X-Men" in early June.
As for the title of this post, reportedly Franco isn't going to sing at the Oscars now. They decided he didn't have the chops. But he tried. Their "Grease" bit was either cancelled or will be shown on film. Anyway, it'll be fun to see our "Rise" star host the Oscars.

<.html

Well, this provided two good links. Landis said about what I imagined he'd have to say about BATTLE, but I'm disappointed he didn't do the movies in order. I hope they get someone else to do ESCAPE and CONQUEST, as Landis is really so predictable and shallow.
The other link to the young geeks discussing PLANET was nice, but again they don't say anything that deep, but it's nice to know how well liked the original is. It's truly one of the best SF films ever made, and I hope it gets a lot in new attention this November.

.htmlLandis says at that point J. Lee Thompson "just didn't care". Well, he sure sounds like he cared in "Behind the POTA" but his hands were tied by the budget. Too bad they couldn't have told Fox, "We made you a lot of money with these so give us a fair shake or we quit". Arthur owned half of POTA so I'm not sure Fox could've made it without him.
Landis also said Arthur wasn't on the set of "Battle" but there's pictures of him in "POTA Revisited".
So, it's fun to hear Landis talk about "Battle" because he was in it but it wasn't very illuminating.

If so imo it is horrible. It was what I feared they would go for, a real Ape look instead of the amazing look of the original Planet of the Apes.
Some fans may not care and think it is good to make them look like real Apes.
Many such as myself will hate it.The original Apes look is The Planet of the Apes imo.
We can see a realistic Gorilla or Chimp in many films. The POTA look is what separated them from King Kong, Mighty Joe and the rest of every Ape film in the world.
I have to vent because Planet of the Apes 70's films are my favorite films ever. The look is so important to me.Always wished they would bring it back or really close. The 2000 film look was passable, but I was not crazy about the film at all.
I guess the amazing Apes look of the 70's films will never be seen in a newer film again unless I become a big time director quickly.Ain't gonna happen, sorry.

This year's Oscars may have been for "the young and hip", buy why must it be presented to the like of "Jersey Shore?"
If I were FOX I'd be thinking about pushing back "Rise of the Apes" even further - at least until its star(?) evolved a bit more to being a human-being rather that trying to act like one.
I never like him to begin with, finding his lack of delivery annoying. Now that he's proved how little he can even present himself he's only proven my lack of respect.
As with Tim Burton there were better directors that could have been chosen... with better actors why the hell did they pick this talentless low life.

I'm pretty sure that was a clip from Serkis's work on KING KONG.
I was happy to see THE KING'S SPEECH do so well. It deserved to.
And I was happy to see Rick Baker win again for Best Makeup, despite
the fact that the transformation clip they showed was mostly CGI (done
over Rick's protests, according to what I read when the movie came
out). Like Burton's Apes, THE WOLFMAN was a crappy movie, but Rick's
makeups were great.
And yes, I had the same thoughts about Franco. I never saw him as
leading man material, and last night doesn't inspire much confidence
that he'll be good in RISE. Of course, I have my doubts that RISE
will be any good anyway....

Colleen Atwood also won an Oscar last night (her 3rd?). She did the costumes for POTA2001.
And when they showed the clips from the Governor's Ball they played the "Henry V" music by Patrick "Rise of the Apes" Doyle.
