That would have made a hell of an ending--but maybe too much of a downer for audiences? The upbeat ending we got is , for me,a 'F**k you world--Apes is back!!!' experience, but I'm sadly twisted and evil.I miss the bit that appeared in the trailer but never made the movie where Will says something like 'Don't ever let them find you' to Caesar---that could have stayed in to cement the love between the two.Maybe the delays with the script delayed a novelization? Yes, I'm obsessed by a novelization.John, Scrolls.

.htmlI agree about Conquest. As I wrote though in my convoluted way, the novelization of Conquest was really just the original January 1972 shooting script with some embelishments from John Jakes(I think). Sometimes, like I also said, the novelizations are pure writers(The writer of the novel) ideas. Ill keep on keepin on, Take care, John

.html.html I'm glad they made the changes in the script. I think there was also the part where I believe Caesar created the virus which I think was kinda lame. and Also the part where Will was trying to feed Caesar a poison cookie. Also lame.
The only part I wish they left was the ending where you hear radio broadcasts of a deadly virus while the camera was zooming in on Caesar. That was a pretty dramatic ending. Although I'm sure that was removed due to Caesar now, not being responsible for the virus.
Overall they chose the right path for the film.
Now when in the hell is the bluray coming out! lol

I'm glad they made the changes in the script.
Now when in the hell is the bluray coming out! lol

As I've said before, because they can play our DVDs and Blu-rays in Japan, Fox won't announce a release until after the Japanese opening. I do expect it by the end of this month though, probably before.
Also, hopefully, the commentaries on the discs from the director and writers will tell the whys of everything.

I can only hope they're working on something really cool for the blu-ray and they don't want to announce it until they're sure when they can deliver. But probably not. I think it will be released early December.

.htmlI feel an even more dramatic ending would of been more in "Ape" trdition. Will dying or getting killed, or something in the vain of what you mentioned would have been more melodramatic, but even though the ending was good it still was an audience pleaser like Escapes ending but in reverse. In other words someone good should have died. Just my opinion, John M.

See what im talking about, these novelizations are sometimes just original scripts mixed up and shacken and stirred and poured to look original when in reality its a convoluted mess that might entertain. So, I guess this is the guy, Jeffrey Godsick, who'll decide what new POTA merchandising there will be, including novelizations, and you see that RISE had to be a hit first before Fox would even consider it, which is wise of them.
Now, is there anybody here smart enough to figure out how to contact him -- personally?

1. Harry Potter, uh, 8? - - $1.3 billion
2. Transformers 3 - - $1.1 b.
3. Pirates 4 - - $1 b.
4. Kung Fu Panda 2 - - $661 million
5. Fast 5 - - $620 million
6. Cars 2 - - $550 m.
7. Smurfs - - $532 m.
8. Rio - - $483 m.
9. Thor - - $448 m.
10. Rise - - $418 m.
Maybe "Rise" will beat "Thor". If it beats "Rio" it's Fox's #1. Plus there's whatever the rest of year has. "Tin Tin" (again with Andy Serkis and WETA)? "Mission: Impossible 4"? <.html

.htmlI know ive been beating a dead Ape uh horse for so long but the versions that are shown on HBO/MAX ,and according to people at Fox, they(HBO) do their own mastering(that was years ago, I dont think they do their own mastering anymore but their are differences in sound so somebody is doing the mastering better)and are the correct ones in sound balance etc, etc. Just listen to the sound differnces of Beneath from 1977-2008. Many different sources and quality of work.
Other than just sounding right, I compared them(back when we last talked about this about a year and a half ago) to my Movie drive- in hard wired sound recorded at a Go-Apes festival in 1974 and the CBS premieres in 73-74, the sound balances are right and ofcourse no CD soundtrack audio is used as is in the Blurays and DVDs of the last 10 -15 years and some broadcasts from Encore in 1992 and other broadcasts.
The music sound is perfect on the isolated tracks (Bluray)on the sequels. The sound effects are a mishmash of good and bad sound leads from everywhere and the dialouge sound in general is correct. The problem is the person who is doing the MIXING. The Apes are slowely getting better soundwise so in about 5-10 years it should be perfect-lol.
The Apes series deserve (not just POTA68) a perfect restoration as the first A-movie sci-fi series of the modern era and I feel that Fox will do it eventually if the Rise trilogy go's on making the big bucks. Take care, John M.

In all my writing in the previous post you also asked about the Lawgiver scene. That scene had audio delays and volume problems for years and was finnaly fixed-sortof-about a couple of DVD and the Bluray version ago. It still(It sounds like they went back to the Magnetic video audio tape and enhanced it for todays sound) has the same mixing problems of volume and quality of sound but its passable. The effects and or dialouge have abrupt editing and bad fades like the Ursus speech. If you listen closely just before he says "The Only good..." theirs a hard sound splice interjected at that point like a hard erase was made and the tape head just hit the tape. I have a hard time explaining this because I could sit for hours showing where all the problems are with Beneath, some Conquest, alot of POTA68, but Escape and Battle are 99 percent right so Ill forget them now.
The three apes films POTA68, Beneath, some Conquest have alot of "lets make do with what we got and make it work" sound. As I said forever the elements are physicaly close to Fox or in Fox itself on some shelf, but it takes work and alot of money to get it done correctly. The question I always had was who screwed the sound up on these movies to begin with. Its like the sound reels were lost and to hunt for them would be, as I said, a pain in the neck for them. Then when the proper CDs came out and the versions on HBO starting in 1992 I realized that Fox are just plain morons(That was my opinion at that time)and the people involved felt that an Apes fan wouldnt notice. When the Laserdiscs came out and did not correct the inequities of the picture and sound from the early 1980s then the collectors started bitching like myself and we found out alot. Writers from all the Laser rags like Pond Scum, Laserdisc Gazzette, and one of the best(I just forgot the name. It was yellow
most of the time on regular paper and reviews and news were great) were just a drop in the bucket of people who reviewed and agreed with what I was saying and did their best but hit brick walls like myself.
Ill give it a rest now and try not to waste anymore of this groups time but I heard so much BS and lazy and halfwitted attempts by Fox that I almost went nuts. Take care, John M.

Especially in this economy. If a family of 5 is going to see "Harry Potter" 20 times they have to cut back and see "Rise" only twice.

I am Drew Gaska - Author of Conspiracy. if you want to set up a public Q&A, I can explain a bunch of things which I believe you have taken out of hand. Some of the things you have mentioned on your message board (POTA_Phenomenon) I have already debunked on the Apecalypse Forums, and others that you think are incorrect are because you don't have the whole story yet - The sequel to Conspiracy (which I am finishing the first draft of) comes out next Fall. Please realize that I am a life long fan of the franchise, and my plan was to make all the conflicting facts make sense together - something I am working hard to make happen.
It is an ambitious project - something that has never been done in an official manner before, and I am bound to make a few mistakes along the way. I am only human, and the apes only give me access to a computer a few hours a day.
You say in your post that you don't want to "dump" on someone else's interpretation - but your frustration at my officially licensed book that I have poured my heart and finances into is coming through in a somewhat unprofessional manner - I would rather be open to discussion to address your concerns.
Feel free to contact me - I would love to address these issues with all the fans. It will help me to make sure I am serving the franchise in the best manner as well. Its all about ape love!

down a little. And you don't have to stoop.
So that cuts down on pains...in the neck anyway.

.htmlApe-parently "Rise" has been announced for Dec. 12 in the U.K. for home theaters, so I would suspect the U.S. announcement would be soon, maybe today. Dec. 12 is a Monday so it probably won't be that, but probably December. More importantly, it won't be on my birthday. Not fair! Not fair!
But you know, what do I care? One of my favorite movies of all time is coming out on blu-ray on my birthday. "Blue Velvet" (or should I say "Blu Velvet"?). Yes, that's right. The David Lynch classic. Not only that, but Mr. Lynch is releasing his debut album as a singer on my birthday, too. He's a good man.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0PbwLTLKA4
Mr. Lynch was able to make "Blu Velvet" as part of the deal for directing "Dune". "Dune" was to have been Arthur Jacobs' sci-fi follow up to the POTA franchise if not for his untimely death. But Mr. Lynch was the one (and so far only) dude who brought it to the movie screen. On topic!

Fox was so hyped up on moving RISE to Thanksgiving Weekend that it would be ironic to see it released on dvd/bluray during that time.

Fox's "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" launched in Japan, where the pic scored almost 80% of its total weekend take. The Japanese B.O. contributed $6.2 million to "Apes," which grossed $7.8 million this weekend for an overseas cume of $245.4 million. Fox said it expects "Apes" to generate strong results in Japan through Monday, a public holiday in that country.
You see, this is why I've said don't expect any Blu-ray/DVD announcement right now -- Fox has Japan on its mind right now. I think I'll be at least another two weeks before we hear anything.

Oh, yes it does have something to do with it, as you're witnessing right before your disbelieving face, Mr. Jeff Krueger! And Fox hasn't made an official announcement in the UK, that's just Amazon there, and Amazon is just going for pre-orders and release dates can change -- look at how it changed for the CD release.
RISE doesn't open in China until October 28th!!!!
Oh, hell... I wouldn't be surprised if RISE isn't released on Blu-ray/DVD until January 2012.... and it'll all be Jeff Krueger's fault!

Fox's "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" launched in Japan, where the pic scored almost 80% of its total weekend take. The Japanese B.O. contributed $6.2 million to "Apes," which grossed $7.8 million this weekend for an overseas cume of $245.4 million. Fox said it expects "Apes" to generate strong results in Japan through Monday, a public holiday in that country. http://www.deadline.com/2011/10/fox-dates-die-hard-sequel-for-february-14-2013/
As near as I can tell, Fox hasn't announced any movies for Summer 2013 yet. I still say "Rise of the POTA 2" would be perfect, seeing as how it's the 50th anniversary of Boulle's novel and so far the ideas for the sequel sound very Boulleish (apes walking around in modern buildings and "borrowing" all the human toys that have been abandoned). Some might feel 2013 is too soon and that's rushing it but such is the modern turnaround to exploit top movies. 2011 flicks that have already signed on to repeat in 2013 include "Fast 6", Thor and our old friends the Smurfs.
If "Rise 2" was slotted for 2013 it would already be going up against "Iron Man 3", "Superman" and Spielberg's Terminator wannabe "Robopocalypse". Franco's $200 million "Wizard of Oz" movie hits a couple months earlier in March.

But if a film has already surpassed expectations then a bluray annoucement doesn't matter if it has yet to be released in the last remaining countries.
Fox just enjoys torchering this POTA Group, that's all. lol

Time will prove me correct. There will be a Blu-ray/DVD release announcement by the end of this month -- if it's to be released in December -- but if not, then we're looking at a January release.
This Saturday is October 15th, so if there's no announcement this week, then I'm already on my way to being correct.
HA! HA!

(And if I'm wrong and there's announcement tomorrow -- fine with me. I can't wait for this Blu-ray. And as for bootlegs -- SHAME ON YOU IF YOU HAVE ONE!)

Fox just announced some movies for 2012 and 2013. The biggie is the latest "Die Hard". That would seem a definite summer movie but in fact they've slotted it for Valentine's Day. http://www.deadline.com/2011/10/fox-dates-die-hard-sequel-for-february-14-2013/ As near as I can tell, Fox hasn't announced any movies for Summer 2013 yet.
If "Rise 2" was slotted for 2013 it would already be going up against "Iron Man 3", "Superman" and Spielberg's Terminator
wannabe "Robopocalypse". Franco's $200 million "Wizard of Oz" movie hits a couple months earlier in March. http://www.movieinsider.com/movies/-/2013/ "Die Hard" is set to shoot in January to make Feb. 2013. The 50th anniversary of POTA seems like a good promotional hook for the "Rise" sequel so if Fox has eyes for 2013 I suspect there will be an announcement soon (and blu ray announcement for "Rise" would be nice too while they're at it).

It has nothing to do with it. "Fast 5" just opened in Japan and it's already on blu-ray. Like Al said, Japan had "Rise" bootlegged on DVD back in August.

And as for bootlegs -- SHAME ON YOU IF YOU HAVE ONE!) <.html <.html

.html.html It's a unit that sends the 3D signal to your 3D Ready Projector.
3D Bluray Player to 3DXL to 3D Ready Projector.
Here's the unit:
Pretty much sold everywhere online including amazon.com.
Looks ten times better than in movie theaters with zero double vision as most 3DTVs gives you.
A 3DTV doesn't even hold a candle to it.

We can antici...pate "Rise 3" when it comes out in 2018 for the 50th anniversary of the movie. "Rise 2" in 2013!

Why am I always throwing cold water on Krueger's predictions? I don't know, but seriously...
Don't look for the next APES movie until 2014. It'll take all of next year just to get a script and a director. 2013 will be the year it's shot, and 2014 the year it's released.
And besides, why be in such a hurry for the next APES flick anyway? Isn't it nice to have something to look forward to? Enjoy the antici... PATION!

Even though Battle is my least favourite of all the Apes films (that includes Burton's), it doesn't deserve to be near that list. Splice is another film on that list that wasn't too bad (on some levels, I thought it was quite good and innovative), and doesn't deserve to be there. Still, the list is all opinion and whatnot, so...

While I can't argue with his view of the inferiority of the APES sequels as compared to the original, they are far from the "worst sci-fi films of all time." (Well, BATTLE yeah.)
I'd like to know how old the writer is. Except for the APES sequels, his other movies are fairly recent. Has he never seen DAMNATION ALLEY, or LOGAN'S RUN? How about THE ULTIMATE WARRIOR or FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE SPACE MONSTER?
If you're going to write lists like this -- you better know movies.
