I say enough is enough already.  I hope RISE helps to heighten people's awareness of this issue.  I like that the article mentions Chimp Haven, which is given a credit at the end of the featurette on chimpanzees on the RISE Blu-ray.

To see what life looks like for lab chimps lucky enough to be deemed no longer needed for research, we spent two days at the National Chimpanzee Sanctuary in Shreveport, Louisiana. It's aptly known as "Chimp Haven."

I donated $100 to Chimp Haven just a few days ago, and plan to do the same in the coming months with the other organizations mentioned on the RISE Blu-ray, GorillaFund.org and the orangutan group, PongoFoundation.com, and keep doing so every year.  My love of apes extends beyond just APES.

I think this photo is from the cut end scene of "Rise" where Brian Cox tries to kill Caesar and Franco takes the bullet. Doesn't it look like he's saying, "Please don't shoot my ape, Mister!" It'll be a good deleted scene for the super duper special edition "Rise" blu-ray, complete with one ticket to see "Rise 2".

Really?  Do you really have to wonder?
Dennis Miller's is far more erudite and eloquent.
Though I aspire to Miller I lean more to Penn Jillette.
Now you can wonder about what all that means instead.

I saw it twice at the cinema and I've seen it twice at home on blu ray (each time with a different commentary) so you win. Anyone seen it more times than Jeff?

CONQUEST. Actual actors portraying the roles and not a computer,
compelling story, three dimensional characters, well paced, didn't need a
massive budget to have a good final product... the list goes on. Plus it
didn't have to misrepresent it's story in theatrical trailers and TV
commercials in order to get people in to see it.

It's a sign! "Silence is Golden"! The silent movie actors don't speak and neither do the apes! Why didn't I think of it before? BOOM! are really, really knocking it out of the park with their two series. The Apes series is at #10 and has a battle spread worthy of Marvel's Evolution's Nightmare---it's a complex, action packed, deep story and I can't wait for chapter three of this arc--'Forged by Fire'.The BETRAYAL series is equally stunning and is drawing some rave reviews (see heading)--'awesome', 'irrisistible' and even an endorsement from Ed Brubaker, comics' uber-scribe on titles like Captain America and X-Men, who describes BETRAYAL as the 'Apes comic he's ben waiting for'.
These two series are the living, happening face of Apes and we have a sequel to BETRAYAL to look forward to as well--Exile on the POTA.At long last we have a successful, enduring and developing Apes series.Check it out! John, Scrolls.

Yet later when they drag him out, Dr. Zaius and the whole office can be seen through the door.

Since both shots through the door are at the same angle, it makes me wonder why there was a difference.

This has nothing to do with POTA but it has everything to do with POTA. Fox production prez Emma Watts has reupped through 2015. The article also gives some tidbits on upcoming Fox movies ("Frankenstein", from the director of "Real Steel"; the director of "X-Men: First Class" has just signed for the sequel). It also mentions that the "Rise" sequel is a "priority" for the studio (I think they're aiming for 2013).
So, like Fox or not it's more of the same.

It is a different angle with the one shot taken more to the right of the doorway and the other more to the left. The door jam? is slightly different too. Can it be the perspective or is it a Matte of some sort or different piece of plaster from different shooting days- a pickup shot? Who knows. John M.

The angle is slightly different, but not different enough to hide the windows and desk.  I'm guessing different shooting days, one before the office was finished and one after.

Theirs also a chunk above the left gorillas head that is their in one photo but not the other. Were their two doorways into his office next to each other? Its a pickup shot or simply a mistake. Take care, John M.

Has anyone listened to the "Rise of the POTA" soundtrack? No, I mean really listened to it. I've been listening to it on headphones during chores and so forth and letting it seep in. There's a lot of details to it, from the ape sound that's familiar from earlier POTA films (kind of a moan I guess) to weird sounds reminiscent of Goldsmith's stuff. An underrated composer.

This year sees the 40th anniversary of the filming and release of "Conquest of the POTA". 40 years ago today (January 31st) was the first day of filming. Roddy remembered it as his worst day in any of the films because he started it by spraining his ankle coming out of the dressing room (his ape feet got caught in the iron stairs). They spent the morning tending to his wound and then shot some establishing stuff in Century City of Caesar and Armando among the populace.
"Conquest" would be released in June. (Thanks "POTA Revisited)

I predict great things for Mr Doyle, his score for Marvel's Thor was equally effective.

Judged purely as a listening experience I think his score for 'RISE' is more melodic, thematic and the easiest to listen to of all the apes movies.

I'd say there are just as many homages and 'easter eggs' in his music as there are in any other aspect of the movie.

(Just so there's no misunderstanding, Goldsmith's score for the original remains the most startling, evocative, original and inspiring score of all time - he makes that movie SOAR!)

The original five Apes scores are, without doubt, superb and Jerry's original Planet is arguably my favourite score of any film, ever.I am happy to slot Doyle's score in because it does what the original five do--it paints cinematic pictures with sound. One thing that Doyle's score is that, just possibly the others aren't, is UPLIFTING--you feel you can soar with the music and your spirits are raised. That's what I think, anyway.John, Scrolls.

I think he was a top rated composer! In fact if not for Jaws & Star Wars he'd
have left John Williams in the dust. The Boston Pops got up and walked out
on his corn ball stuff.  I doubt they would have done that to Goldsmith. To me
that says Goldsmith was number one, at least as far as the musician were concerned.

Fox doing a FRANKENSTEIN?  I don't know.

Anyway, RISE 2 in 2013?  Keep dreamin'.

I think the angle is slightly different too, but I also think Schaffner may not have wanted to give away it was Zaius he was being brought before until the next shot.

Yes, that's the 4 issue "Betrayal" miniseries (set in the original Heston POTA movie era). But doesn't include the regular POTA comics series (with the airships and stuff). That's getting separate books. The first book already came out and the second comes out in May (sez Amazon).

I don't recall that interesting scene from the movie, but thanks for sharing it with us. Might anybody know what that device might be that Dodge is utilizing? They'd already sent a signal to Earth that they'd landed, while still onboard Icarus. And they'd already checked for breathable air before blowing the hatch. Perhaps he used it to check the water for potability. I tend to doubt that it's navigation-related, since Colonel Taylor pointed them in a direction with no particular reason in mind. ("None at all."). Any thoughts? :-)
