I say enough is enough already. I hope RISE helps to heighten people's awareness of this issue. I like that the article mentions Chimp Haven, which is given a credit at the end of the featurette on chimpanzees on the RISE Blu-ray.
To see what life looks like for lab chimps lucky enough to be deemed no longer needed for research, we spent two days at the National Chimpanzee Sanctuary in Shreveport, Louisiana. It's aptly known as "Chimp Haven."
I donated $100 to Chimp Haven just a few days ago, and plan to do the same in the coming months with the other organizations mentioned on the RISE Blu-ray, GorillaFund.org and the orangutan group, PongoFoundation.com, and keep doing so every year. My love of apes extends beyond just APES.

It'll be a good deleted scene for the super duper special edition "Rise" blu-ray, complete with one ticket to see "Rise 2".

Really? Do you really have to wonder?
Dennis Miller's is far more erudite and eloquent.
Though I aspire to Miller I lean more to Penn Jillette.
Now you can wonder about what all that means instead.

>>ABC News just did a report about the Oscar nominations with the
theme "Silence is Golden" because the silent movie "The Artist" is expected to
be the big winner. Well, the apes mostly don't talk in "Rise". Andy Serkis'
performance was acknowledged for not being able to rely on words. Therefore the
apes were silent! It's a sign! "Silence is Golden"! The silent movie actors
don't speak and neither do the apes! Why didn't I think of it before? I thought
"Rise" was going to get nominations because it's an animal movie like "War
Horse". But, no! It's going to get nominations because "Silence is Golden".
"Rise" is going to get a tree full of nominations! OMG! OMG! OMG!

These two series are the living, happening face of Apes and we have a sequel to BETRAYAL to look forward to as well--Exile on the POTA.At long last we have a successful, enduring and developing Apes series.Check it out! John, Scrolls. <.html

This has nothing to do with POTA but it has
everything to do with POTA. Fox production prez Emma Watts has reupped through
2015. The article also gives some tidbits on upcoming Fox movies
("Frankenstein", from the director of "Real Steel"; the director of "X-Men:
First Class" has just signed for the sequel). It also mentions that the "Rise"
sequel is a "priority" for the studio (I think they're aiming for
2013).
So, like Fox or not it's more of the
same.

.html Has anyone listened to the "Rise of the POTA" soundtrack? No, I mean really listened to it. I've been listening to it on headphones during chores and so forth and letting it seep in. There's a lot of details to it, from the ape sound that's familiar from earlier POTA films (kind of a moan I guess) to weird sounds reminiscent of Goldsmith's stuff. An underrated composer. <.html

.html This year sees the 40th anniversary of the filming and release of "Conquest of the POTA". 40 years ago today (January 31st) was the first day of filming. Roddy remembered it as his worst day in any of the films because he started it by spraining his ankle coming out of the dressing room (his ape feet got caught in the iron stairs). They spent the morning tending to his wound and then shot some establishing stuff in Century City of Caesar and Armando among the populace.
"Conquest" would be released in June. (Thanks "POTA Revisited) <.html

Judged purely as a listening experience I think his score for 'RISE' is more melodic, thematic and the easiest to listen to of all the apes movies.
I'd say there are just as many homages and 'easter eggs' in his music as there are in any other aspect of the movie.
(Just so there's no misunderstanding, Goldsmith's score for the original remains the most startling, evocative, original and inspiring score of all time - he makes that movie SOAR!)

I think he was a top rated composer! In fact if not for Jaws &
Star Wars he'd
have left John Williams in the dust. The Boston Pops got up and walked
out
on his corn ball stuff. I doubt they would have done that to
Goldsmith. To me
that says Goldsmith was number one, at least as far as the musician were
concerned.

This has nothing to do with POTA but it has everything to do with POTA. Fox production prez Emma Watts has reupped through 2015. The article also gives some tidbits on upcoming Fox movies ("Frankenstein", from the director of "Real Steel"; the director of "X-Men: First Class" has just signed for the sequel). It also mentions that the "Rise" sequel is a "priority" for the studio (I think they're aiming for 2013).
So, like Fox or not it's more of the same.
Fox doing a FRANKENSTEIN? I don't know.
Anyway, RISE 2 in 2013? Keep dreamin'.

They'd already sent a signal to Earth that they'd landed, while still onboard Icarus. And they'd already checked for breathable air before blowing the hatch. Perhaps he used it to check the water for potability. I tend to doubt that it's navigation-related, since Colonel Taylor pointed them in a direction with no particular reason in mind. ("None at all."). Any thoughts? :-)
