To answer your question, the original Caesar played by Roddy McDowall is my favortive character too. Of course, Julie (Lisa's maid in Battle) played by the great Collen Camp will always hold a special place in my heart ;-)

Of course there were several characters from Planet who were not seen in Beneath; Lucius, Dr. Maximus, Dr. Honorius, etc.

$18 million was the figure I read.  About 6 times more than what studios usually spend on post-conversion 3D.  It was worth it, too.  James Cameron ensured that it was done right for TITANIC.  (No, the movie didn't need to be made 3D, but since they were determined to do it, I'm glad the studio listened to Cameron and ponied up enough money to do it right.)
