I felt the establishing shots of the city in Beneath were too brief.
Though I'm sure they didn't want people to look too closely. As I
recall, they took a picture of an NYC landmark and cut it up with
an Exacto knife to make it look like a ruin of it's former
edifice.

.html No word on the budget but it looks like Fox are being big spenders and "Dawn" is their Memorial Day movie. Bryan Singer is doing their "X-Men" movie for that summer and he sez it's his biggest movie ever. He didn't say most expensive but his "Superman Returns" cost $250 million. "Rise" cost about $100 million and the last "X-Men" cost $160 million. I'd say between $150 and $200 million. Maybe more but I doubt it.

And now there's a book about it's philosophy. What's left? I think it would lend itself to one of those big coffee table books with nice color pictures and posters. And I've always thought it would be a natural for one of those "The Science of..." books.

.htmlHi there!
I'm new on this group and joined so we can bring PotA to the Lego stores! - OK, I'll slow down a bit... : D Let me start here: I created a PotA project on Lego Cuusoo. Lego Cuusoo is a platform where you can propose new Lego sets. When reaching 10000 support clicks Lego considers producing it. Here's the link: http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/37680
Since there was a new PotA movie in the cinema (which I found great because of Caesar's character) and there will be one next year, chances aren't bad that Lego might get the license for PotA.
Lego is about to create gorilla minifigures for their Chima sets in summer '13. : ) Time to make something great using that opportunity!
If they were painted differently one could make PotA minifigures out of them.
Alright! So I'd like to hear your opinion, and if you like it, how a representative PotA set should look like. If anyone has experience with photo editing: Feel free to manipulate the photos provided on the blog entry for that: http://legocorner.wordpress.com/tag/apes/
That's all from me for now. See you around! - Dave Lister : ) <.html

I'm digging the graffiti on the sets. It really looks like the humans have gone through 15 years of hell. Here's one with "ALZ 113" scribbled on it.
I think the zones are the quarantine areas the humans created.

What I'm wondering about now isn't so much about clothes, but what the ape hierarchy will be? With Caesar as the leader, and Koba as his antagonist, that means the chimpanzees are pretty much in control. So what about the gorillas? Will there be the makings of an ape war in DAWN that will play out in the next film? Will a fight for power between the chimps and gorillas reach a tipping point when the orangutans side with the gorillas because of chimpanzee agressiveness?
Maybe the third movie should be called FOUNDATION OF THE PLANET OF THE APES.

Another thing about the graffiti is it looks like
the apes drew over it. The Human Nation stuff has ape faces draw over it. So I
think when the apes took over they had their way with the graffiti. Adding to my
suspicion those are apes, not humans there. Apes with guns AND artistic talent?!
It's a madhouse!!

First of all, everyone needs to remember where the apes were at the end of RISE -- just living in the forest as animals, and few in number. The human society would take weeks and months or maybe a year or two to be decimated by the plague. Meanwhile, what would the apes be doing -- besides breeding? Remember your lessons from our Lawgiver, Pierre Boulle -- the apes would be aping the dying human society around them. The apes wouldn't know how to make clothes much less guns (and don't forget the required ammo) -- and who taught them how to ride horses? Don't you think that a horse might object to a gorilla getting on its back?
So, if the apes are riding around on horses, wearing bandoliers and sporting guns, more than likely they're aping some humans that were doing it first -- at least I hope the screenwriters were clever enough to realize all this, or else this movie is going to be pretty dumb, and that's not a good thing in a movie about smart apes!

It's graffiti, it's not fine art. I agree we
don't know for sure but I think they are going for simplicity. It looks to me
like chimps in gorilla uniforms. Wouldn't that put a bee in some fans' bonnet!

Not questioning the guns and
bandoliers. I'm just saying that I'm not 100% sure those are apes. No fur
whatsoever. Gloved hands. The faces look like a cross between a skeletal face
and a mask. What are those protrusions on each ear? If it wasn't for the
teeth, I'd say those are masks for sure.
Dario
Yeah, I agree. We really don't know what exactly it is.
It kind of looks like humans with ape skull faces painted on them.
Well, we only have to wait about a year to find out.

.htmlI know some people didn't like it, but I did. They took a lot of liberties with the various elements, especially some of the technology available, which wasn't what a lot of fans were expecting. The question becomes one of plausibility and I think that a lot of fans just couldn't make that leap. It took me a while to get used to it myself. On the other hand the story itself was great with great characters and that was all I needed. I think I enjoyed it more than Catalyst right now and Catalyst is much more in line with what we consider 'cannon' for classic apes. But even in Catalyst there are a few things that you just have to suck up and put plausibility aside if you want to enjoy the story.

I asked Corinna Bechko and she doesn't know
BOOM!'s game plan but they seem to at least be putting POTA on hiatus. She said
BOOM! is doing some "brand readjustment" that might include POTA. But she feels
they had a good run.
My guess is they might want to give it a
rest and come back when the new movie hits. Absence makes the heart grow fonder
(or is that absinthe?).
