I felt the establishing shots of the city in Beneath were too brief.

Though I'm sure they didn't want people to look too closely. As I

recall, they took a picture of an NYC landmark and cut it up with

an Exacto knife to make it look like a ruin of it's former edifice.

No word on the budget but it looks like Fox are being big spenders and "Dawn" is their Memorial Day movie. Bryan Singer is doing their "X-Men" movie for that summer and he sez it's his biggest movie ever. He didn't say most expensive but his "Superman Returns" cost $250 million. "Rise" cost about $100 million and the last "X-Men" cost $160 million. I'd say between $150 and $200 million. Maybe more but I doubt it.

Frightening.The break even for some movies nowadays is $400 million.So, DAWN needs to really break, maybe, the $800 mill to ensure the future of the franchise? John, Scrolls.

I've been pondering the clothes issue for a while. From what I've seen, I'm hoping we may get some colour coding and maybe some glyphs.I'm going to trim my FB etc.,viewing to avoid any negative pre-bitching about DAWN--I intend to celebrate and rejoice in this wonderful return to our roots! Not questioning the guns and bandoliers. I'm just saying that I'm not 100% sure those are apes. No fur whatsoever. Gloved hands. The faces look like a cross between a skeletal face and a mask. What are those protrusions on each ear? If it wasn't for the teeth, I'd say those are masks for sure.

First of all, everyone needs to remember where the apes were at the end of RISE -- just living in the forest as animals, and few in number. The human society would take weeks and months or maybe a year or two to be decimated by the plague. Meanwhile, what would the apes be doing -- besides breeding? Remember your lessons from our Lawgiver, Pierre Boulle -- the apes would be aping the dying human society around them. The apes wouldn't know how to make clothes much less guns (and don't forget the required ammo) -- and who taught them how to ride horses? Don't you think that a horse might object to a gorilla getting on its back?

So, if the apes are riding around on horses, wearing bandoliers and sporting guns, more than likely they're aping some humans that were doing it first -- at least I hope the screenwriters were clever enough to realize all this, or else this movie is going to be pretty dumb, and that's not a good thing in a movie about smart apes!

POTA as envisioned by novelist Darryl Gregory comes to an end this September with POTA Giant. This was the storyline with the airships, etc. that was controversial to POTA fans but comic book fans seemed to dig it's flights of fancy. It was the main POTA storyline for a long time starting in Ape-ril 2011 and then continued as specials. Gregory is pleased that he was allowed to finish the story.

Is it the end of BOOM!Apes or JUST the Gregory tale? I'm confused and worried! I'm really enjoying CATACLYSM and can't contemplate, what is now, my SIXTH series cancellation!! Any reassurance would be welcome! John, Scrolls.

I know some people didn't like it, but I did. They took a lot of liberties with the various elements, especially some of the technology available, which wasn't what a lot of fans were expecting. The question becomes one of plausibility and I think that a lot of fans just couldn't make that leap. It took me a while to get used to it myself. On the other hand the story itself was great with great characters and that was all I needed. I think I enjoyed it more than Catalyst right now and Catalyst is much more in line with what we consider 'cannon' for classic apes. But even in Catalyst there are a few things that you just have to suck up and put plausibility aside if you want to enjoy the story.
