Well, I guess we petition Fox regularly, so how about we petition Dave?!

I for one believe Apedom is FAR more important than any promotion and things
wouldn't be the same without Dave around. Anyone else here care to join in
petitioning Dave to hire an assistant to help him with all that dull "real
life" stuff?

Please tell us more Greg...and thanks for keeping this a surprise! It
really is a treat to just SEE the end result of a project and not to be
involved in every step of it.

I got a very SIMILAR feeling when I received pages of Beware the Beast from
Neil, then again when Dave added the text, but this is incredible to just
see something so wonderful when it is completed!

THREE

The feeling of awe produced by such a sight cannot be described: a star,
which only yesterday was a brilliant speck among the multitude of anonymous
specks in the firmament, showed up more and more clearly against the black
background, assumed a dimension in space, appearing first of all as a
sparkling nut, then swelled in" size, at the same time becoming more
definite in colour, so that it resembled an orange, and finally fell into
place in the cosmos with the same apparent diameter as our own familiar
daytime star. A new sun was born for us, a reddish sun, like ours when it
sets, the attraction and warmth of which we could already feel.

Our speed was then very much reduced. We drew still closer to Betelgeuse,
until its apparent diameter far exceeded that of all the heavenly bodies
hitherto seen, which made a tremendous impression on us. Antelle gave some
instructions to the robots and we started gravitating around the supergiant.
Then the scientist took out his astronomical instruments and began his
observations.

It was not long before he discovered the existence of four planets whose
dimensions he rapidly determined, together with their distances from the
central star. One of these, two away from Betelgeuse, was moving on a
trajectory parallel to ours. It was about the same size as Earth; it
possessed an atmosphere containing oxygen and nitrogen; it revolved around
Beetelgeuse at a distance equivalent to thirty times the space between the
Sun and Earth, receiving a radiation comparable to that received by our
planet, thanks to the size of the supergiant combined with its relatively
low temperature.

We decided to make it our first objective. After fresh instructions were
given to the robots, our craft was quickly put into orbit around it. Then,
with engines switched off, we observed this new world at our leisure. The
telescope revealed its oceans and continents.

The craft was not equipped for a landing, but this eventuality had been
provided for. We had at our disposal three much smaller rocket machines,
which we called launches. It was in one of these that we embarked, taking
with us some measuring instruments and Hector, the chimpanzee, who was
equipped as we were with a diving suit and had been trained in its use. As
for our ship, we simply let it revolve around the planet. It was safer there
than a liner lying at anchor in a harbour, and we knew it would not drift an
inch from its orbit.

Landing on a planet of this kind was an easy operation with our launch. As
soon as we had penetrated the thick layers of the atmosphere, Professor
Antelle took some samples of the outside air and analysed them. He found
they had the same composition as the air on Earth at a similar altitude. I
hardly had time to ponder on this miraculous coincidence, for the ground was
approaching rapidly; we were no more than fifty miles or so above it. Since
the robots carried out every manoeuvre, I had nothing to do but press my
face to the porthole and watch this unknown world rising toward me, my brain
reeling with the excitement of discovery.

The planet bore a strange resemblance to Earth. This impression became
clearer every second. I could now discern the outline of the continents with
my naked eye. The atmosphere was bright, slightly tinged with a pale green
colour verging from time to time on yellow, rather like our sky in Provence
at sunset. The ocean was light blue, also with green tinges. The form of the
coast line was very different from anything I had seen at home, though my
feverish eye, conditioned by so many analogies, insisted wildly on
discerning similarities even there. But there the resemblance ended. Nothing
in the planet's topography recalled either our Old or New Worlds.

Nothing? Come now! On the contrary, the essential factor! The planet was
inhabited. We flew over a town: a fairly big town, from which roads
radiated, bordered with trees and with vehicles moving along them. I had
time to make out the general architecture: broad streets and white houses
with long straight lines.

But we were to land a long way farther off. Our flight swept us first over
cultivated fields, then over a thick russet coloured forest that called to
mind our equatorial jungle. We were now at a very low altitude. We caught
sight of a fairly large clearing occupying the top of a plateau, the ground
all around it being rather broken. Our leader decided to attempt a landing
there and gave his last orders to the robots. A system of retrorockets came
into action. We 'hovered motionless for a moment or two above the clearing,
like a gull spotting a fish.

Then, two years after leaving our Earth, we came down gently and landed
without a jolt in the middle of the plateau, on green grass reminiscent of
our meadows in Normandy.

++Well said, Michael. I completely agree about our Mr. Ballard. He

Yes, agreed Kass, but if somebody is feeling unappreciated or that their
involvement is not required, they tend to re-prioritise things.

So I guess this is a chance for people to either voice their appreciation or
wish Dave good luck.....or both.....

My apologies for the bad language. When I wrote the story it never occurred
to me that it might be read by youngsters. I think it would be wise if you
didn't
read any further but I promise I will bear a younger audience in mind from
now on.

I'll tell you what - my 11 year old son has promised to write me a POTA

this coming weekend. If he does I'll send you the result - how does that
sound?

On the first page they were not trying to hurt each other, they were just
training and yes, Galen is a chimpanzee, just like in the TV show.

Now, I'll tell you a secret but you have to promise not to tell anyone... I
don't
like 'Killer instinct' either.

A lone gorilla
Full of loathing
For humans
Struggles through wasteland
Deserts and forests

When he is pursued
By humans
Fear takes over his being
Running to nowhere

He shoots at the beasts
But more keep coming
A long line of
Neverending humans

But he persists
With his struggle
For survival

For the time
Of the gorilla
Has arrived

And Gideon
Continues his journey
Because their fate
Is in his hands
Along with the
Destiny of simians.

Subject: Re: new addition at the tv website

I actually did the screen captures first, and then constructed the story to fit the pictures that were available. I assumed that for the first set that Fox supplied Topps with images from three episodes (or Topps sent a photographer to the set during the filming of three episodes) and Topps had to build the set from those images. I decided to do something similar and did screen captures from the episodes, taking care to avoid the guest stars and making sure I had only images of the 5 main actors except for anonymous gorillas and High Council members.

When I laid out the story, I wanted to avoid any of the story elements from the first set, such as one of the astronauts getting captured (and decided to have Galen captured instead). I also didn't want Urko to come off looking foolish or ineffectual at the end, so it couldn't be a story about him nearly capturing the fugitives only to have them slip through his grasp at the end.

Ultimately, it was an image I didn't even use that supplied the key to the whole story. It was when Burke and Virdon are outside the temple in The Liberator and Pete realizes that they can use the charcoal to make filters to protect them from the poison gas. I remembered that charcoal is one of the main ingredients in gunpowder. From there I just had to work out the reasons for both our heroes and Zaius and Urko to be at the gunpowder mill at the same time and narrowly avoid meeting up with each other.

Luckily Neil was smart enough to see that coming and he created some new

Could be, but he was the one talking about only distributing them to

hi-
thanks for update.
for those who dont know: converting analog video signal to digital DVD
signal is very time-consuming.
it is much different than simply dubbing a tape by going deck to deck.
so, hunter, we are greatful for your efforts.

As I posted last week, I'm actively working on capturing and
converting now. I didn't intend for this project to take so long, but
I also didn't anticipate several work weeks of 70+ hours. I hope to
have the whole thing completed by the end of October, and several
people volunteered to help with distribution. I haven't seen the
copies Michael has, but I did get tapes (and DVDs) from five other
sources, and most of them were barely watchable. I have an excellent
(as in, much better than any others I've seen, including some bought
off eBay) source that I'm capturing now, thanks to Mike Rogers.

More info when I have it.

This is really boring but you are taking me completely out of context and
twisting what I say.

I was actually fairly well OVER James' tactics by this and rather than
fuming and exchanging blows I was GUARANTEED by David (owner of the group
James is "leasing") that he would keep tight control over James.

What I was pissed off about when I wrote this was that the pota group was
not being mutually supportive as promised, but was instead using tools for
recruitment purposes and exclusivity. So no, I was not using a project you
are working on to get back at him, I was saying that after having to twist
Neil's arm to allow non-DG members to see the final chapter of Beware the
Beast, my good intentions were being spat on and that I might want to think
about how I distributed MY allocation of the "Return" DVD that LOTS of
people helped to make and that you were saying you would provide me ONE copy
of.

I hope that makes things a touch clearer for you.

From 22-AUG-2004:

As it stands, these will be available to everyone on all POTA groups
and members of the fan club.

That's if my understanding of all these groups as joining together in
peace and encouraging the promotion of all as a community is correct -
I have been lead to believe (because of the posts I have sent that
were deleted at the pota group) that I might be wrong, and the pota
group might actually be trying to be competitive AGAINST the other
groups. If that's the case then I'll rethink exclusivity on the discs
and many other projects.

It was the whole "as it stands" and "rethink exclusivity" thing I am
commenting on. You were pissed off that James left the group, and you
were trying to use a project that *I* am working on to get back at
him.

Funny how Whitty was planning to charge (only to recoup costs) when he
was going to redistribute what I produce
[Whitty, Michael]

What YOU produce is the end product of a LOT of fans getting together to
provide a good copy of "Return" to be burned to DVD. How dare you accuse me
of charging ANYTHING. Dozens of people in this group know I do not charge
one cent - if they receive the goods and then wish to send me the cost of
postage then they do so. This is a really stupid and nasty claim and I
challenge ANYONE to say I have ever done anything else.

, and then he didn't want any part of the redistribution
[Whitty, Michael]

With all your negativity, no, I would rather let others sacrifice their own
time and money to distribute these. That's my perrogative. However, I now
have some PAL DVDs that I have offered. Is that a problem Hunter? Rory
also offered "Battle" DVDs at the same time you did - was THAT a problem?

, but is now offering what he has for free.
[Whitty, Michael]

Like I said - it was ALWAYS free. Some have chosen to pay me the POSTAGE
and on the whole I have lost money and PLENTY of it.

Anyway, what's your POINT here? What are you accusing me of.....do you
claim I am profiteering? What is the accusation?

Maybe that's true of some people but it sure doesn't apply to me.

There's no need to single me out, I'm just doing what many others are doing -
Kass, Hunter, Greg etc... too many to mention.

Tell that to my Bank manager and then my mortgage lender :0)

It seems the rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated - I AM
around, just not as active as I once was.

Anyone else here care to join in petitioning Dave to hire an assistant to help
him with all that dull "real life" stuff?

Already done, his name is Richard Bradley and you'll be seeing his
handiwork in the near future - he's already re-touched a COF cover for Tim.

Thanks Kass, the dust HAS settled, I'm still standing and things are looking
extremely good. I now even have a lunchbreak most days.

Subject: Fake Story in SS
.html
I can omly speak for myself, but I have to say what I can't believe is that
people WOULDN'T take it seriously.

Simian Scrolls is a POTA Fan Magazine that reports thing (sometimes amazing
new things we know nothing about) to fans. Example - the article on the
mobile POTA show that toured the UK.

While I found it ALARMING that SS was claiming there were unreleased
episodes of a second series, and I approached it with CYNICISM, I knew that
a magazine of such integrity wouldn't run such an article without some
reveal at the end saying "this was a gag". I was quite wrong, and yes it
did leave me wondering "what other stories have they just made up?" and "How
stupid do I look now to everyone on the group who knows that this is a gag -
gee, that probably blows MY credibility". Couple that with my endless,
unanswered emails to the people who bring you SS (it was over a week until
Neil finally broke the news to me - only because he thought I needed to
know, not because I thought to ask him) - even though I am supposed to be a
distributor and I wore hundreds of dollars to get Fan Club Members a free
issue to promote SS - and you might understand my reaction. That and the
fact that many peole were hostile to me, and some still are, because they
thought I was in on the wind up.

So next time I read an exclusive in SS that there is a new movie in the
making, I'll just sit back and think "are they at it again?". It sure has
ruined the credibility of the magazine for me, and to now go close to
dismissing me and all the other people who were offended - almost insulted -
well that's just poor form guys. It has little to do with wanting to
believe, and MUCH to do with hoping you can TRUST. I would hope I can TRUST
what I read in SS and that if something is a gag, it is made obvious.

Difference between this and Greg P's cards? The cards DO exist in some
form.

I was talking about this only last night. I think the deciding factor
was *wanting* to believe. That desire, to wish it could only be
true was, in some cases, enough to tip the scales of
acceptance.

Ok, Michael. Pay up!

In chapter two we meet Ulysse Merou, a man with a family living in a
self-sufficient spaceship. He begins by telling us the story of his
experiences in a voyage with two other men, Professor Antelle and
Arthur Levain, to the distant and super gigantic star known to some
as Betelgeuse.

Professor Antelle, we learn, is a wealthy scientist, perhaps somewhat
lacking in social graces and without a lot of hope for humanity, who
puts his entire fortune on the line to pull together this mission.
The ship is equipped with a lovely vegetable garden and Antelle even
thought to plant flowers. Ulysse Merou, a mere journalist, has been
brought along by Antelle to document the mission and perhaps to be a
bit of a diversion for the professor. Arthur Levaine is a young
physician. In addition to the crew, there are birds and butterflies
and a young, well-trained chimp named Hector.

The Professor's decision to travel to Betelgeuse rather than a
closer star seems to be a good one. They accelerate for a year
(traveling at the speed of light minus epsilon) and decelerate for a
year, reaching their destination in barely more than two years –
about the time it would have taken to reach a closer star if
traveling at a lesser speed. (This is Patrick's turf, so I will
leave that to him.) The flight goes off without a hitch and the men
soon see Betelgeuse and, we will learn in Chapter 3, its planets.

-- Also don't forget to join our supplemental groups-

First up there is the DG Archives group:
http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/PotaDiscussionGrouparchives/
This group was created to store old posts from the group which have
been deleted from the main site. we have to do this periodically to
free up space as Yahoo does not allot much space to the groups
anymore.
As this group is so active we tend to fill up very quickly and
instead of losing old posts forever we like to keep a copy of them
all. They can be found in the Files section listed by month and
year .

There is also the DG Fan Fiction group where members can place, in
the group's Files section, their Fan Fiction stories, poems etc. to
be enjoyed by all:
http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/PotaDiscussionGroupfanfiction/

Finally there's the Photos group:
http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/PotaDiscussionGroupphotos/
Where photos are very occasionally moved to save space on the main
DG group

All the sites can be easily accessed via the links on each one's
Home Page.

Hi All.

There is something BIG happening on the Planet of the Apes Discussion Group!

Go to the home page and look at the new home page picture (also attached below - but may not get through).

Then post on the group what you think "Beyond the Planet of the Apes" actually is.

The CLOSEST accurate response will win the PRINTED version of the Official International Planet of the Apes Fan Club's Flagship, BEWARE THE BEAST (in two parts) , containing an additional 7 pages never before seen by people not directly involved in the project!  These are a special "ash-can" edition that have been printed for distribution to potential publishers and they are indeed a rare and worthy collectible.

Winner will be announced in 24 hours - so don't drag it!

I wonder if anybody here would care to join me in the Yahoo group:

kingkongtribute@yahoogroups.com

I've been there awhile, but this group needs help, especially by other apes
fanatics.  There's also a bunch of buttheads there that refuse to acknowledge
any sexual symbolism in the original KING KONG (1933).  Now you know how we
POTA fans love to discuss the allegory in POTA, well some KING KONG fans need to
get hip.  So, with a remake of the monkey classic just around the corner we
POTA fans could tell these guys maybe they shouldn't get too excited.

Join if you like talking about KONG.

They accelerate for a year
(traveling at the speed of light minus epsilon) and decelerate for a
year, reaching their destination in barely more than two years -
about the time it would have taken to reach a closer star if
traveling at a lesser speed.   (This is Patrick's turf, so I will
leave that to him.)  The flight goes off without a hitch and the men
soon see Betelgeuse and, we will learn in Chapter 3, its planets.

My guess would be that Beyond the Planet of the Apes is going past
what we already know about PotA and giving us more of a view of their
world, a more in depth view of the link between all the stories and
to clear up questions regarding endings of stories previously untold,
Burke & Virdon for starters.

All I can say is if it is anything like Beware the Beast it has to be
good. Love your work, keep it up.

.html.html Oh!  That Aussie who owns Fox!  Can't fellow Aussie Michael Whitty get this guy to do anything with APES?

Murdoch Gives (Very) Green Light to Fox

Saying that News Corp's Fox Entertainment Group is "on a great streak," News Corp Chairman Rupert Murdoch said Tuesday that the company plans to increase production at its 20th Century Fox film studio and its Fox Searchlight Unit. The studio, which released 11 films during it last fiscal year, has been given the go-ahead to turn out 20-25 films in the current fiscal year, while Searchlight, which released 8, will raise its total to 11. Murdoch indicated that his decision to increase production was based largely on the performance of The Day After Tomorrow, which was responsible for $540 million in ticket sales worldwide, and I, Robot, which pulled in more than $314 million.

News Corp May Buy Up Fox Entertainment Shares
News Corp is likely to buy out the 18 percent of Fox Entertainment Group that it doesn't already own, its chairman, Rupert Murdoch , said Tuesday. He added that at Fox's current market price, about $5 billion, "Fox would be very cheap." However, Murdoch told the Goldman Sachs investors conference that News Corp is "not in a hurry" to accomplish the buy-out. It may be hinged, analysts said, to the success -- or failure -- of Murdoch's ability to win approval from Australian investors to move News Corp's corporate headquarters from Australia to the U.S.

Hmmmm....

I'm thinkin'....

The "PLANET OF THE APES" part of the logo looks like it comes
directly from the POTA TV DVD set, which might -- just MIGHT, mind
you -- be a covert hint that this "Beyond the POTA" work concerns the
ultimate fates of Burke/Virdon/Galen, etc.

The sun, too, is reminiscent of the famous POTA TV opening credits
images, where the gorilla is holding his rifle up, the sun at his
back.

Then there's the lamppost/streetsign on the left... and what looks
like it kinda/sorta/might just be a... a parking meter? What IS that
damned thing on the right!? Is its covering there intended to make it
some sorta "scarecrow"-like thing?

Below the "E" in "APES", on the horizon, it looks like there's some
kind of explosion happening, sending debris up into the air. What's
up with that? Hmmm....

Then there's the caption: "COME TO SOMWHERE [spelling!] YOU'VE NEVER
BEEN BEFORE... COME WITH US AS WE GO... BEYOND THE PLANET OF THE
APES". Well, where have we NOT been before? Does the [misspelled]
word "somewhere" indicate that this story is set in a PLACE we've
never been/seen before? Or could it also refer to a TIME we've never
experienced? Hmmm....

We see Human Civilization ruins in this pic, so I'm guessing
that "BEYOND" has nothing to do with Boulle's original novel.

Thus, this adventure is probably set in either the Movie or TV series
universe(s), depending on whether or not you think the 2 can be
reconciled (like I do) or that they're "alternate" universes.

So... is it related to the TV show, or not? If it IS about
Virdon/Burke/Galen (etc), and it IS "somewhere" we've never been
before, then could this story be set somewhere else on post-nuked
Earth, somewhere the Fugitives escaped to, perhaps? Might not that
lamppost represent a remnant of ancient human yet non-American
civilization? I.e.: could this be set, say, in England? We've never
been there before, unless the comic "APE CITY" (which was set in
Europe) also had stuff happening in Britain; it's been so long since
I read 'em, that I can't remember offhand.

As much as my gut is telling me that this is probably something about
the post-TV show fates of Virdon/Burke/Galen... I'm gonna go out on a
limb (like Cornelius Jr.!) and guess that it is NOT.

So... what do I guess it IS about?

The phrase/title "PLANET OF THE APES" represents "a world turned
upside down", where Apes rule and Humans are either enslaved or
dehumanized to the point of animality. In the 1968 film of "PLANET"
and its sequel "BENEATH", that world is destroyed by the detonation
of the Doomsday Bomb. Those who argue for a circular timeline (like
me) would say that the planet Earth is no more, from 3955 onwards
(or, 3978 if you want to argue for the date given in "PLANET").

But there are those (like Rory, for one) who favor the notion that
Caesar did indeed manage to CHANGE THE FUTURE by his actions at the
end of "BATTLE"... and I remember reading some time back a post on
one of these Yahoo groups where it is said that Taylor -- when his
ship gets back to Earth, a world whose "destiny" had been CHANGED by
Caesar's actions -- will arrive to find a world where talking Apes
live in friendship and at peace with the humans descended from the
MacDonald-led group that talked of having their own destiny.

Thus... the "somewhere" we've "never been before" could well refer to
a locale on Earth we HAVE seen before in the pre-"changed" timeline,
yet have NOT seen in a post-"changed" timeline. This COULD be about
Taylor/Landon/Dodge encountering a peaceful community of talking Apes
AND Humans... AND, possibly, Mutants too. Thus, Zira and Cornelius
might very well be there, with there having been no "terrible secret"
guarded by Zaius and his ilk -- the entire community having been told
the tale of Caesar (from the "BATTLE" beginning-and-end scenes).

We've never seen the Movie "Ape City" circa 3955/3978 except in the
first 2 movies, the "pre-changed" timeline setting; we've yet to see
what that same setting would be like -- what
Zira/Cornelius/Zaius/Julius/Ursus/Honorius/Mendez XXVI/Albina/etc.
would be like in a "post-changed" timeline setting.

So... that's my guess. This "BEYOND THE PLANET OF THE APES" will, I'm
guessing, take us BEYOND the situation Taylor initially found (the
first 2 films) and show us what Taylor will come to find after
Caesar's "divine intervention" supposedly CHANGED it to be a better
destiny than Doomsday.

As Zira said about Cornelius' "evolution" theory, mine might be the
most BRILLIANT hypothesis--

"--But I'm probably WRONG!"

If I'm RIGHT, though, I get that "ash-can" edition of "BEWARE THE
BEAST"...

Fingers crossed...

*** Just one (minor?) quibble...

Arthur Levain was -- according to the original French text of
Boulle's novel -- "un jeune physicien de grand avenir", which Xan
Fielding translated as "a young PHYSICIAN with a great future".
However, this is a MIS-TRANSLATION of the French word "physicien".
The word for "physician" in French is "medecin" [with an acute accent
mark above the first "e"]; the French word "physicien" translates to
English accurately as "physicist". Arthur Levain was NOT a physician
or doctor of medicine, as Xan Fielding's (mis-)translation implies;
he was a PHYSICIST. He wasn't on the journey to oversee Antelle's
health concerns (etc), he was there (probably) to study PHYSICS, the
physics of travelling through Space at the speed of light minus
epsilon.

In studying foreign languages, I've come across the term "false
friends", which refers to words in a foreign language that LOOK like
a word in your native tongue yet have different meanings. "Physicien"
LOOKS like "physician", and that threw Xan Fielding off. He should've
looked up EVERY word in a French-English/English-French dictionary;
then he would've known to translate it correctly as "physicist"
instead. His "flub" gives the wrong impression of what kind of person
Arthur Levain was.

Not that Levain does much in Boulle's novel other than DIE during the
hunt! But what the hey!

One other thing, regarding "Patrick's turf" (i.e. the velocity of
Antelle's ship stuff). It isn't a "lesser speed" that would've gotten
them to a closer star than Betelgeuse -- it's the SAME speed, the TOP
speed of "light minus epsilon" (where "epsilon" represents about "one
thousand millionth" of a degree just shy of the speed of light. Since
lightspeed is 299,792,458 meters per second [exactly, according to
the international standards of weights & measures], then the speed of
Antelle's ship would be, oh, somewhere around 299,792,457.999999999
meters per second, or 0.000000001 meters per second less than the
unattainable speed of light.

What "Ape Mom" meant to say is that Antelle's ship could've travelled
to a nearer star system than Betelgeuse by spending less time at its
top coasting speed: it takes the same amount of time to ACCELERATE TO
that top speed and also to DECELERATE FROM that top speed, but the
time spent BETWEEN the acceleration-and-deceleration phases is what
is variable. Coast along at top speed for only a few minutes, and you
get to Proxima Centauri; but coast along for a few HOURS instead, and
you get all the way to Betelgeuse. Coast along for a few DAYS at that
top speed, and you could fly to another Galaxy. The total time
(i.e. "SHIP-TIME") experienced by the voyagers is still roughly 2
years: 1 year to Accelerate, 1 year to Decelerate, and either a few
MINUTES in-between, or a few HOURS instead. It's still only a total
duration of just over 2 "SHIP-TIME" years.

Relative to "EARTH-TIME", of course...

Subject: [PotaDG] Kong anyone?

I wonder if anybody here would care to join me in the Yahoo group:

kingkongtribute@yahoogroups.com

I've been there awhile, but this group needs help, especially by other apes
fanatics.  There's also a bunch of buttheads there that refuse to
acknowledge
any sexual symbolism in the original KING KONG (1933).  Now you know how we
POTA fans love to discuss the allegory in POTA, well some KING KONG fans
need to
get hip.  So, with a remake of the monkey classic just around the corner we
POTA fans could tell these guys maybe they shouldn't get too excited.

Join if you like talking about KONG.

My guess is also going to be adventures set elsewhere in the world, but
Patrick beat me to posting the specifics. At least I think that's what
Patrick said, I think he covered every other possibility in that last essay
as well.

Anyway, if I had to name a country I'd say the UK. But then again, maybe
Australia so it makes it easier for Neil to get some landscapes to refer to!

I've got it. It's the front part of a bike.

OK, most of the good (probable) answers have already been sent so I'm
gonna stake my ground with this answer.

"Beyond the Planet of the Apes" is:
The PRINTED version of the Official International Planet of the
Apes Fan Club's Flagship, BEWARE THE BEAST (in two parts),
containing an additional 7 pages never before seen by people not
directly involved in the project!

Has that for a cut'n'paste answer!

The image appears to be "Foster" art, but I'm not sure if it's Neil or
that new 10 year old Foster who made their debut on the back cover of
Scrolls #9. ;)

I got a private email about 10 days ago saying "don't be surprise if I
am off the air for a while". I responded a couple of days later, but
did not get a reply, which probably means at least her electricity or
internet is down.

Those of us who pray might want to spare one, and those of us who don't
might wish to spare some thoughts.

The thing on the right looks like it could be a
motorcycle buried in the sand...or something with
handlebars.....My guess is that it is a new comic from
the makers of BTB but I can't get specific.......

Not sure, but I do know she evacuated twice (at least) before this last storm.

then i think she might live where i grew up.
one of my freinds down there also had to evacuate twice.
he said it kind of looked like a scene from an end-of-the-world movie.

Subject: Mego Tree House
.html

I am puzzled too - I wonder if we can assume somebody opened just one toy to play with?  Strange - and they never opened most of the treehouse or the other figures.....?

The last time I saw one of these on eBay it fetched around $2500.  Funny, I was referring to it on the DG recently but I had people telling me it did not exist!  I don't think many of these were made!

Then again, a "Pop Gun" showed up on eBay about 4 years ago.....Ken Taylor bid $385 and won it.  NOBODY in ape fandom had seen it before - it did NOT exist in any collectible lists or books.  Out of curiosity I emailed the seller to see if he might have another......well, he had a CASE full of them (but he didn't tell me that, just said he had another and he would sell it to me for thr $385 PLUS POSTAGE!).

A few other collectors paid a similar price, then suddenly he found himself selling them for $30 on eBay!  Well, a few of us who paid top dollar were wounded by that one!

But this is a different kettle of fish - there are NON-POTA fans who will go for this because they collect Mego, so it is a larger market.  Usually with POTA collectibles there are about 5 insane guys who bid ENORMOUS amounts, so after 5 of an item is sold it suddenly loses its value (as with the pop-guns!)!

This is a bit of a "Holy Grail" for Mego and/or POTA collectors!
