.htmlPossibly interested depending on the price, but I'd like to see a
specific list of the extras before committing. A lot of that translation
doesn't make much sense.

I hope the sudden invite isn't some sort of joke.
Or an attempt to get me to translate that page.
Then jokes on you. I've only completed two years.
and even if I was a really good student (which
thanks to numerous learning disabilities I'm not)
That site is loaded with kanji. And my kanji is weak
at best. I can read the hiragana and katakana. But
katakana is all Engrish. For exempt in Romanji
taitoru means Title. karejito kado means credit card etc...
And it's not 250 yen it 28,000 en, plus 1,400 shipping
inside Japan presumably.

I make it at $275.72 US
But you probably have to
bump that $14 shipping
up triple, or more.

.htmlNo, it's a hope that we can all get together and rebuild what has been
ruined.
I have a friend in Japan, the guy I bought all the Medicoms from, who is
getting back with some translating.
What I REALLY want to know is what the EXTRAS are!
It says something about superior sound.....now if that means it is a
Dolby Surround track - well, I can see a few TV Show fans DROOLING even
more! I think, however, it is referring to the sound of the Icarus...ie
the Icarus has sounds....but I don't know!
It also refers to interviews with William clever! WHAT THE!?!?! Who
are they TALKING about!
I'd also love to see if their POTA "Ultimate Edition" has more extras
that the 30th Anniversary release here! Also, if it does NOT, does that
spell DOOM for those who wanted to get Deleted Scenes etc? Usually the
"ultimate" edition is the END OF THE LINE! But yes, that's a huge leap
to conclude...however it makes me wonder.
Also - do you think they might have an Extended Battle DVD over there?
Is it an Extended version or was it standard in Japan?
No, T, I'm not expecting you to translate, but nor would I fail to
encourage it if you can.

Thanks T - it would be great if we can learn more...but no pressure.
Well, SOME pressure - I would like to get a comment about "Return". It
does not have to be a kind one....
Thanks for agreeing to end the war. Maybe there is hope for mankind

No, it's a hope that we can all get together and rebuild what has been
ruined.
Well, aside from Brian Wilson there was another musical genius who was
in a
top world famous band, who went solo. You may remember him as Beatle
John.
In the interest of a unified group, and even if it's a bit premature,
I'll
take a note from his book, and say . . .
WAR IS OVER!
No, T, I'm not expecting you to translate, but nor would I fail to
encourage it if you can.
It's all bits and pieces to me.
Trying to look up kanji by radical
would take forever. And of course
there are usually several onyomi
and kunyomi (Chinese & Japanese)
readings for each, depending on context.
If I get a chance I'll see if some of the
Japanese in class can take a look at it.
Even they have trouble with some things
in their own language. That's where Furigana
comes in. Too bad there isn't any on this page.
Honorifics are a bitch too. Can you say bitch here? <.html

The object to the left of the books could be a radio, although I can't understand why anyone would put something like that in a time capsule. Judging by the markings on the outside, I'd expect to
find a tie-dyed t-shirt.

Hi Michael,
Thanks for fast payment.
The batlle for the POTA is released on DVD in Japan, but it's sold for whole
set, can not buy only for the "battle".
For your former question of "extras", The DVD case shaped as the space ship
will come, also
DVD stand with the logo of "ANSA" will come.
And as you said, inerview with the art director William cleiver (sorry I
don't know the exact spelling)
is in the DVD.
Thenks again,
Yoshio

I have the Battle for the Planet of the Apes Laser Disc from the Japanese

It contains scenes that were cut out.
Is this version the one on your DVD release? Is it available on DVD?

is going on.
I announced a competition where I have put up over $1 000 in prizes
and I have about 3 people interested.
We have been placing Monkey Planet on the group chapter by chapter
and Neil has been illustrating....about 3 responses.
We have provided a new comic strip ("Within the POTA") to get people
talking....crickets are chirping instead.
Have I missed something?
I know some people have the ability to send emails that appear to be
from somebody else.....could you have received one of these?
Or is this a kind of protest...or WHAT?
It's not just this group I know....the pota group is essentially a
few guys talking to themselves and some crazy political thing where
they have imaginary members posting. We are not going to resort to
that kind of silliness. I would rather go out with some dignity
than to hang on in quiet desparation and invent members.
Neil has started the new TV Show comic. The way things are, I can't
justify showing it on this group. I have taken great risks to show
you all "Beware the Beast" (the most obvious risk being that Fox
will be pissed off about this and could disallow paper publication
as a result). As things stand, I will just let you all buy it at
the news-stand. There really does not seem to be any point in
showing it on the group.
So I'm handing the reigns over to all of you. I don't mind working
hard if people are chatting, but the harder I work the less people
contribute and I'm sick of it. I've been bled dry and I'm going to
love to just leave it all behind if that's the result; really I am.
But if you want to take the opportunity to read the comic and
comment, or read a few lines of Monkey Planet, or look at Neil's
illustrations and comment, you can keep getting a great deal of
value for free....well, for the cost of a few comments. I really
don't care what you all choose, but I am not hanging around watching
this group die.

I just wanted to say its been a pleasure to have joined your group

and I will as I get myself organised.
A few questions !!!
1. Did Medicom produce a catalogue of all its POTA merchandise ?
2. Do we know who the artists/sculptures were?
3. A year ago I saw advertised a Japanese photo book for about £40.00
/$80.00, at the time I thought it was all to do with Tim Burtons
Rehash, Was it? or was it the book that I have always wanted I.e.
a large scale full colour Photographic account of all that is
POTA?
4. I have just recieved my Apemania Cornelius Mask and it is
wonderfull. Do any of the group have pictures (close up) of the
Don Post Cornelius mask?
5. What happened to Don Post, You never hear od him?it now?
6. Do you think that Tim Burtons POTA and the recent Van Helsing
Made the same mistake I.e. People (myself included) wanted to
see the classic POTA/Universal characters brought back to the big
screen in all their glory(origonal costumes and make up,New
adventures)?
I could see the Karloff/Whale/Pierce Monster in full colour
million dollar epic or the McDowall/Chambers Cornelius/Ceasers/
Galen character brought into a new progression of the POTA
timeline(sons of whatever)?
Obviously new actors would recreate the characters but it would
have been more to the fans, as well as the publics liking as these
characters are now culteral icons. Their very image can conjour
up all sorts of memories and back stories before the film makers
shoot a single frame.
Anyways......enough of my ranting.....I would be interested in
your thoughts. (and answers)

Sorry you feel that way, Michael. Have these
groups EVER been more than a few people talking? Those who do POTA projects
should do them out of love of the subject. You should've tried this stuff before
the internet. Those were some serious crickets. I suggest you do it as long as
it's fun and not overextend yourself. Your efforts and those of others ARE
appreciated but it's nothing new that people are lazy about responding. Plus
that silly life stuff sometimes interferes. As for myself, I've got some
catching up to do.

1-3: It's very hard to find info on Japanese POTA stuff, even though it's
some of the best. But pictures of all the Medicom apes are readily available
on websites, search engines and magazines.
4. I think Don Post's masks are shown in Sauseville's POTA Collectibles book
5. Info on Don Post should be available on the internet.
6. I haven't seen "Van Helsing" but it's mediocre box office (like that of
POTA2001) can probably be attributed to misjudging what people want (and
poor writing). Fans alone don't make a successful film at that budget level.
But the movies that are true to their source material and also entertaining
("Spiderman", "Harry Potter", "Lord of the Rings") seem to do the
best. - - - Jeff

No, you can't hang up the group. I love it here and I like to read what other people post. Half the time I want to post, and I know this is silly, but I feel
like some of things I want to say would just be laughed at and not appreciated. This group is awesome and you can't hang it up. I love the new comic, but you understand that it is currently impossible for me
to accept prizes of gifts or whatever from outsides sources. I'm sure that everyone loves this group and doesn't want to see it go down hill.

Guys and gals, there really is an echo in here and I don't know what is going on.
I announced a competition where I have put up over $1 000 in prizes and I have about 3 people interested.
We have been placing Monkey Planet on the group chapter by chapter
and Neil has been illustrating....about 3 responses.
We have provided a new comic strip ("Within the POTA") to get people talking....crickets are chirping instead.
Have I missed something?
I know some people have the ability to send emails that appear to be from somebody else.....could you have received one of these?
Or is this a kind of protest...or WHAT?
It's not just this group I know....the pota group is essentially a few guys talking to themselves and some crazy political thing where
they have imaginary members posting. We are not going to resort to that kind of silliness. I would rather go out with some dignity than to hang on in quiet desparation and invent members.
Neil has started the new TV Show comic. The way things are, I can't justify showing it on this group. I have taken great risks to show
you all "Beware the Beast" (the most obvious risk being that Fox will be pissed off about this and could disallow paper publication
as a result). As things stand, I will just let you all buy it at the news-stand. There really does not seem to be any point in showing it on the group.
So I'm handing the reigns over to all of you. I don't mind working hard if people are chatting, but the harder I work the less people
contribute and I'm sick of it. I've been bled dry and I'm going to love to just leave it all behind if that's the result; really I am.
But if you want to take the opportunity to read the comic and comment, or read a few lines of Monkey Planet, or look at Neil's illustrations and comment, you can keep getting a great deal of
value for free....well, for the cost of a few comments. I really don't care what you all choose, but I am not hanging around watching this group die.

A) BATTLE DVD is only available in a box set. He didn't address whether

B) That the packaging is in the shape of the ICARUS and that it comes
with a display stand containing the ANSA logo. So you could display this
like you would a model. This kind of confuses me because the picture of
the ICARUS I saw with the DVD looked liked a small model (Corgi sized,
for those of you who know what I'm talking about) and the DVD box seemed
like a regular DVD box for a multi disc set.
C) Was William Creber the art director for the TV series? Or have they
possible lifted his comments from the BEHIND DVD and spliced them all
together? You'll have to give us a full report once you receive it.

I really enjoy this group, I just haven't had the time lately to get
too involved. I'm going to school, just gotten engaged, and wound up
with a 15 year old brother to care for. Plus, I'm working on my POTA
book, a couple of screenplays, and just picked up GTA: San Andreas.
I'm really trying to allocate time to all of these things, but
somethings get left behind - like Yahoo groups. I belong to a number
of them, and haven't looked at any of them for over two months. I'm
just stretched too thin.
POTA is my favorite film series. I even love the TV show, and I
watched the cartoons when they were on as a kid. I am not abandoning
the films, I just have less time than ever for the group.
You convinced me to come back to this group a few months ago, even
though I really didn't have a lot of time to invest. I will try to be
more active, but real life tends to take the reins sometimes (as well
as GTA: SA).
I'll do my best to be more involved, but my lack of time or energy
should have no bearing on your love and involvement with POTA. Please
don't let a lack of time or enthusiasm from those like me, with
fandom in their blood but life on their minds, stop you from doing a
fantastic job here.
BTW: The new strip is great. What a wonderful idea. I can't wait to

6. Do you think that Tim Burtons
POTA and the recent Van Helsing Made the same mistake I.e.
People (myself included) wanted to see the classic
POTA/Universal characters brought back to the big screen in
all their glory(origonal costumes and make up,New
adventures)? I could see the Karloff/Whale/Pierce Monster in
full colour million dollar epic or the McDowall/Chambers
Cornelius/Ceasers/ Galen character brought into a new
progression of the POTA timeline(sons of
whatever)? Obviously new actors would recreate the characters
but it would have been more to the fans, as well as the publics liking as
these characters are now culteral icons. Their very image can
conjour up all sorts of memories and back stories before the
film makers shoot a single frame.
Anyways......enough of my ranting.....I would be interested in
your thoughts. (and answers)

At some point

The recent
hosltilities and group wars and people encouraging divisionism (reminds me of

for most individuals participating less than normally.

The contest was a great idea but unfortunately I don't have access to
the toons and I'm sure that many others are in the same boat. I
realize you've graciously offered to distribute the DVDs, but I did
not take you up on your offer because I don't think they would work
here. (At least I never saw any postings by any non-Aussie stating
that these DVDs would work in USA/Canada). I am anxiously (but
patiently) awaiting the day that Hunter can finish off his copies so
that I can finally watch what I could not 30 years ago. Contest or
not, I just want to see these toons!
Yes "Within the PotA" is fantastic (as was BtB) and I salute all those
involved.
I would take Jeff suggestion and not let yourself get burned out on
PotA. As he says, what you do should be for the love of it and nothing
more.
While I'm at it, I'd also like to give another hearthy slap on the
back to John and the rest of the Scrolls boys. I know he's taken some
heat with that comic issue, but from where I stand I think it was a
great issue. So what if some of the people involved were not as
enthusiastic about their own POTA comics as some of their other
titles? If that's a fact then I'm glad to know the truth and go on
from there. It was still very interesting reading and I thank Scrolls
for seeking these people out and getting whatever they could.
To the Sox fans here: Way to go.
FYI: Many Canadians were cheering these guys on too.
Now, it's back to work for me....

Yes, that's
probably best for me.
But I do like
to think that I can set aside my own personal best interests for "the greater

I do think my
presence in the POTA Community is a good thing.
However if
the community does not confirm that, I must assume you would all be more than
happy if I bow out.
It doesn't
help that I am currently being victimised and attacked by some
individuals.
It continues
to rub salt that some of these individuals have chosen to defy their own
"standards" and abuse a public forum to take a stab at me.
It's great
though that the fighting has stopped with some and we are getting on with things
(that would be, to name them, Patrick, Rory and T), however I somehow end up
with a hate group no matter what I do. And that's really
disheartening.

correspond with fellow apefreaks from all corners of the world. We always
get the first and inside scoop on any new products, get treated to
incredible new comics, and I for one appreciate the hell out of it.

True, it would be nice if more people
participated but as Jeff (I think it was Jeff) said, I'm sure
the greater percent of all internet groups are people that don't respond
for whatever reason. I agree that if you are burnt out and just can't do it
anymore you should stop, but I'm begging you in the name of Apesters
all over the world, please don't! As far as the contests go, I have been
so busy with work I don't have time to get out DVDs to watch clips and I
can't access the TV show clips....

I'm really trying to allocate time to all of
these things, but somethings get left behind - like Yahoo groups. I belong
to a number of them, and haven't looked at any of them for over two
months. I'm just stretched too thin.
POTA is my favorite film
series. I even love the TV show, and I watched the cartoons when they were
on as a kid. I am not abandoning the films, I just have less time than
ever for the group.
You convinced me to come back to this group a few
months ago, even though I really didn't have a lot of time to invest. I
will try to be more active, but real life tends to take the reins
sometimes (as well as GTA: SA). <.html

I'll do my best to be more involved,

Hi
Dario.
I agree we
all need to have the Toons to watch them and I am working on
this.
The start of
this competition will be on hold until we are all set up with a
copy.
I don't know
what's going on with Hunter but last time we distributed DVDs Hunter sent out
some and Rory sent out some.
Hunter's had
some treatments that Rory's didn't, but for the purposes of the competition all
we need is watchable copies.
Any
ideas?
I could send
my PAL DVDs to Rory to convert them and send back to me in NTSC, then I'll burn
them and send them out. Rory - could you do this? Or if someone can
lend me an NTSC DVD (like the ebay one) I can burn these and send them, free of
charge. The when Hunter is done you can get the superior copy, but you
won't miss out on the competition.
Ideas?
Michael
Michael,
Sometimes those crickets
are inevitable, but I assure you that while I cannot always post, I do try
to keep up with the goings on in the group.
The contest was a great
idea but unfortunately I don't have access to the toons and I'm sure that
many others are in the same boat. I realize you've graciously offered to
distribute the DVDs, but I did not take you up on your offer because I
don't think they would work here. (At least I never saw any postings
by any non-Aussie stating that these DVDs would work in USA/Canada).
I am anxiously (but patiently) awaiting the day that Hunter can finish off
his copies so that I can finally watch what I could not 30 years ago.
Contest or not, I just want to see these toons! <.html

Yes, I think
my criticism was taken the wrong way.
John has now
left the group and he didn't offer me an explanation - I don't even know if I'm
supposed to be a representative of Scrolls. Not wonderful
communication.
I know I paid
out heaps of money to get everyone a free copy of it, in order to try to unify
Apedom, but that's obviously not reason enough for John to stay on the DG.
And yes, I guess it would be unreasonable to expect him to stay around OR
comment.
Maybe he'll
come back one day - who knows? Until then, you can reach him at the
"friends and fugitives" group if you have anything to say to
him.
Michael
While I'm at it, I'd also like to give another
hearthy slap on the back to John and the rest of the Scrolls boys. I know
he's taken some heat with that comic issue, but from where I stand I think
it was a great issue. So what if some of the people involved were not
as enthusiastic about their own POTA comics as some of their
other titles? If that's a fact then I'm glad to know the truth and go
on from there. It was still very interesting reading and I thank
Scrolls for seeking these people out and getting whatever they could.

various projects with the group. It just seems that there was a core group of
people who would post messages that seemed directly voiced to friends rather

I don't want to tell you why because then I have to think about what a turd of a movie it was -- and I'd like to forget it.
It sucked because it made a mockery of the classic Universal monsters, was neither thrilling or frightening, was too frenetically paced, dumb, loud and stupid. It was all that is bad about big studio summer

As with POTA, Universal Monsters fans got
some kick a. DVDs in exchange for a bad "reimagination". I didn't see "Van

with new window dressing. But the classics DVDs are good and the price is right.

But this Halloween I was hoping to catch a Hammer Dracula.
Not only have I not seen them on TV, but they weren't available

2000. Bela's is great, but not the mood I was going for. Anything

As with POTA, Universal Monsters fans got some kick a. DVDs in
exchange
for a bad "reimagination". I didn't see "Van Helsing" but I saw the same
dude's "Mummy" movies. They are Indiana Jones riffs with new window
dressing. But the classics DVDs are good and the price is right. - - -

Here's a pic of my Don Post mask I bought in '74 for
50 bucks. It's a bit worn now. I have the Apemania
Cornelius mask too and it is great. Never have gotten
the other three Don Post masks.

Universal Monsters fans
Speaking of monster fans. Universals monsters are great.
But this Halloween I was hoping to catch a Hammer Dracula.
Not only have I not seen them on TV, but they weren't available
at Blockbuster either. Just Bela's and something called Dracula
2000. Bela's is great, but not the mood I was going for. Anything
called Dracula 2000 has to suck. There need's to be an online
movie resource you can access to meet your televisual needs. <.html

.htmlYou have missed something - LOTS actually, but never mind that.
I guess what I am saying is that if I don't know there is an
audience, I might choose not to put on a show.

I'd like one in Japanese. That would be cool!
I tried to order a Japanese one, but they're
out of stock. I sometimes flip my POTA
DVD over to french amd pretend it's a
dramatization of the novel, just for fun.
