I think all will agree they certainly are far superior to the
colouring efforts done on the Marvel Adventures on the POTA reprints!
Now this is how I would like to see new collected versions of these

There were 13 issues published
the covers of #1-13 are the same artwork as USA
#1-13
they were quite unique
i spent quite a bit paying hefty postage to order
these in from some dealers in Germany

about 1000 items 10 years ago
i'd love to get people involved to do an

there should easily be over 2000 POTA items now in
existence
Did you
have an enormous list of COLLECTIBLES at one stage?
If so, who compiled
this?

I'm looking
at doing an on-line collectibles site where this list (and new items found not
previously mentioned) would feature photos and analyses of whatever we can get
photos and comments about!
I have some incredible photos right now - drum
kit, radio etc.
I think the
eventual result could be THE best site for POTA collectibles and I would also
list information on people selling items.
Sorry to say,
but I would keep the POTA2001 stuff separate - BUT it WOULD be
THERE!

Actually, the German comics are pretty easy to find. As others have said,
there were only 13 issues as well, so it's not like there are loads to find
either. I think I've got them all in my collection, but really they are
worth having as a curiosity if you like the comics but otherwise I don't
think it's worth trying to track them down. They certainly seem to be among
the most common of the foreign-language reprints.

Hey Dr. Z...I can imagine it's a pain for anyone who works down in the Quarter......I always avoid Bourbon Street because it's just too damn jam packed....but I did see Gene Simmons in the parade yesterday
and a buddy of mine caught some beads that Gene threw and put them on his dog. Marisa Tomei was the Grand Marshall but looked like she'd rather be somewhere else....Tonight Sean Astin and Elijah Wood will both be in
the Super Bowl competing Bacchus parade.....Everyone should experience Mardi Gras sometime in their life....ain't nothin' else like it (in the States)

Incredible!
I use a characted named En Ee Munkey (well,
I described him to a certain nameless person who the created him....y'know?) and
I used him photocopying his butt for a title page in a book about ordering
peripherals (faxes, printers, photocopiers etc!).
Neil drew this one incredibly
well!
It was rejected by the conservative people I work with because
photocopying one's butt is seen as taboo!!

Goooooooo Pats!!!!!!!!! Again the Patriots
have won the super bowl, it is a happy day here in New England! While I was
watching the super bowl last night, there was an ad where a guy goes to work
and everyone he works with is a chimp. One of the chimps makes a copy of his
butt on the copy machine. Very humerous, but insulting to the chimps, we all
know that humans would probably do something like that ,chimps aren't that
undignified. Elaine

Yesterday's L.A. Times had a feature article
on Burton's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" (his "The Corpse Bride" is also
coming out around Halloween - - it's going to be a Burton year). It mentioned
that Burton knew he was in dangerous territory by remaking POTA (he considers
the original a "classic") but he doesn't feel that way about "Willy Wonka", he
didn't particularly like it and doesn't feel a lot of pressure about making it.
It's going to be more like the book.
It also said that Burton is a risky prospect
for a big budget movie and that his POTA killed Fox's enthusiasm for continuing
the franchise. I think they just said that generally, they didn't actually ask
Fox. But when "Chocolate Factory" comes out I think it will reignite the
discussion about POTA and Zanuck or someone will give us an update if there's a
chance of another one (which I think they would do differently since they KNOW
people didn't like Burton's). Burton got off kinda easy with his previous movie
"Big Fish" but the big budget on "Factory" will bring back memories of POTA for
interviewers. - - - Jeff

I also removed the Beneath cards now that they are available on Hunter's site.

Well, would you believe I have this magazine! I didn't remember having it until I recently cleaned out my POTA Cupboard.
I have scanned these two articles and Greg P has made PDFs from them. I am at work right now but if Greg P is out there could you please upload these articles and announce to the
group? Otherwise we'll have to wait some time until I get home.
The article on Stone is just remarkable!

Exactly! They are milking the Taylor figure to DEATH... They don't bother investing their time and efforts into a figure that doesn't exist (i.e. Ursus, Julius, Lucius, etc.)... No, they just keep on with the
same head mold, etc. and keep grinding out Taylor...<.html

Thirty seven years ago today! Oh, where's a time warp when you need it? Wouldn't it be great to suddenly materialize outside of the Capital Theatre on the morning of February 8th, 1968?
Here's the premiere ad for PLANET OF THE APES from that day in the New York Times. I've added color images to make it more APEpealing to the eye.
(Check out the info on the contest they had in the corner of the ad.)

Yes, it is
amazing that some people are permitted to break the rules and others get their
asses spanked.
But kudos to
those who ARE permitted to break the rules!

.htmlWhy bother?
I think we'd be better off placing your illustrations in with the
text and downloading it on our website.
Then we can tell people here on the group it is there and they can
read it if they want/chat about it.
I think you and I really do enough for this group.
Maybe if we stop doing things for them, stop the comics, treat them
like shit, place them on moderation when we have a "sooky la-la" and
then one of us steals all the files and pisses off somewhere else
they'll love US too!
It worked for the other guy - let's give it a chance!

I'd like to see more of your illustrations for Monkey Planet, but then I'd also like to see more Within, even if your writer foolishly decides to bring in Thade from PotA2001.
Now, if it was a chimp who was loyal to Ursus (or Marcus), who broke the species barrier and joined the police force, and who happened to share the same name as the character from PotA2001, that might be okay.
Hmm. Perhaps that's the name of Dr. Garvon's mysteriously unnamed assistant...
