Hi Dr Zaius,

The Shatner Album I am referring to came out last year and is called "Has Been", William collaborated with The Ben Folds Five, he covered Pulp's "Common People" on it, which is absolutely hilarious!

Are you talking about the "Fear of Pop" album they did in 1998 or
have they got back together to do a more recent project that I have
not heard about. I loved the Fear of Pop stuff. It was just as weird
as the early Shatner stuff and it showed he has a good sense of humor
about it all. I wish more Planet of the Apes stars had recorded music
back in the 70's. Hell, they let everyone record albums back then! I
do have Roddy singing on the soundtrack for Camelot. I always picture
Galen bursting into song when I listen to it. Hehehe.

Hi Michael,

ELO and The Move family Tree's are my specialist subject, Magnus Manusson eat your heart out!! Lol!

I'm not sure about the Hedgehog named Spiny Norman, someone else started that one.

I wonder if they were on about Norman Wisdom and his character that would always be working for a Mr Grimsdale, and they got it slightly wrong and said Dinsdale?

Well, that's what it made me think of anyway.

Yours Truly 2005,

Kuiama.

From: "Michael Whitty" whitty@...

WOW!

I really didn’t have a clue…..this is some fairly obscure stuff you two Poms!

So what’s the reference to a giant hedgehog named “Spiny Norman” calling out to “Dinsdale Piranha”?

Michael

Hi Helen,

Cherry Blossom Clinic is a song by The Move that is about a Mental Institution, they were very popular here in the UK in the 60's and they come from Birmingham (Not the Alabama one!! Lol!)

There are 2 versions, the original was recorded in 1967 and the "Revisited" version was recorded in 1970.

Ofcourse, The Move went on to become The Electric Light Orchestra in 1971.

Yours Truly 2005,

Kuiama.

While we were planning our raid, the Marauders actually spent a lot
of time talking Apes... (like you all believe that, right?) Well,
we did.

One of the questions that came up was something about the lack of
gravity on the ship, and the kind of effect that would have on the
physiology of the humans aboard. Wouldn't their muscles atrophy
from lack of use? What system could have been in place while they
were in hypersleep to counteract the effects of their weightlessness?

I'm thinking Kasey started this thread in the Marauders. Maybe she
could be more specific, but I think that's summarizes it. Do you
guys have any opinions?

It was interesting to me that the interests of the DGMarauders ran
across the board. Timelines, time travel, Ape history, Ape law, The
Lawgiver, Race, Politics, Pop Culture, Scenery, Architecture,
Production, the actors and actresses (big one), the characters, the
storyline, Possible sequels / prequels (another big one), Ape
culture (another big one), Presence / Absence of women (big, but not
as big as I thought it would be), Male / Female dominance, Children
in Ape society, Movie ratings, Science (Real or imagined), POTA as
literature, Novelizations, and Music. Boulle just drummed up no
interest. (Sorry, Rory.)

I just show you this list to prove that the women of this group
aren't here fraudulently. We have a huge interest in Planet of the
Apes. We also have opinions and ideas that we really want to
share. Our backgrounds are as different as could possibly be, and
certainly are different from the backgrounds of the guys on this
group. But, we would like to be included in conversation without
feeling put down or slighted by the guys for our lack of jargon, or
different perspective, or lack of color sense, or becuase we spell
something or puntuate something "wrong". Or because we are
different.

We are interested! We love PotA! Talk with us!

When asked which do you enjoy most, the marauders answers fell into
four main categories. In order: TV Series, Movie, and Fan
Fiction. Toys was popular. Then, but not on the bottom of the
list, Boulle's book. I am assuming that the ladies like to read
Boulle, but not discuss it? I'm not sure. Someone could ask.

a minute, which is over 100 pages an hour books and letters and
anything with text doesn't last for too long. I like to stay busy

I was curious to know whether a few people have ever tried the "chat" option of the yahoo page directly. I would assume that if that worked, it would be better for a party scene.
In the past, I've tried it a few times, but never found any simultaneous users. Wanna give it a try? I'll see if I can open up a window there now...

Ah, except I did love the Boulle novel.  Social satire, excellently done, different from any POTA on the screen (okay 2001 tried it for a few scenes: pathetic).  I have three copies of the book here at home.

Yeah, I kinda noticed though that although no one showed a lot of
interest in talking Boulle, he was still fairly popular in the
enjoyment list.

Maybe just a tad too intellectual?

Interesting...

I love the novel! I've read mine so many times that it has
litterally fallen apart at the seems. I love to read. So I'm
currently on a waiting list at my local bookstore for any PotA
novelizations. Books are better than movies.

What flavors? My faves are peach and watermelon. I go for the
ready-made in the little tubs. No sugar, so I don't feel guilty.

My kids love it, too!

Hmmm... Go eat your jello, Jeff!

They got this jello stuff they serve in Denver at the tailgating
parties at the (what is it? Astro?) games. Has anyone here had that
stuff?

I've not read any POTA Novels, only seen the Films and the TV Series.

Maybe one day I will get some, but I have so much stuff on my wants list right now it's unreal! Lol!

I don't really get much time to read these days either, when I was single I used to read for hours on end, I could read a Novel in a matter of a couple of days! I just would'nt put it down, except to eat and take the dog for a walk! Lol!

I am a Sci Fi buff, so the Novels I read are always Sci Fi ones.

My fave is Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, of which I have read many times. (OOOOOOOO straying off topic now!!!!!!!!!)

Evening all

1st discovered apes on the family dining room table. An older
brother left some of the original movie bubble-gum cards laying
about and I had a peek. I remember feeling pretty queasy seeing
images of dead humans strung up by the ankles.

Won't use Chat - last time I tried it trashed my computer and I

I've reread the series once every year since second grade. I'm a
total C.S. Lewis junkie. I heard that the Lewis family refused to
sell the copy-rite if they were going to take out all religious
reference. How are they going to get Edmund away from the White
Witch if Aslan doesn't die!?

  Hi Sailor. Come here often?
Yeah, POTA2001 tried to grab us by the Boulles and failed. It tried to go in many directions but didn't have the conviction to follow up on any of them. It was more a tribute than a movie in it's own right. (ouch! Quit kicking me, Elaine). - - - Jeff

 Boulle just drummed up no
interest.  (Sorry, Rory.)

Ah, except I did love the Boulle novel.  Social satire, excellently done, different from any POTA on the screen (okay 2001 tried it for a few scenes: pathetic).  I have three copies of the book here at home.

Awe, The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe, one of the first (if not THE first) Novels I read when I was about 9!

It holds a very special place in my heart as I really loved it and could'nt put it down. I saw The Chronicles Of Narnia on UK TV in the 80's, but I hav'nt seen any modern Programmes about it, even though there have been some.

There was a Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe Drama on last christmas, but I forgot to watch it, was too busy with other things, oh well, they'll show it again.

So far not many people that I have talked to about being apes fans
actually knew it was based off of a book.

If it is British dramatization with real people in it... DON'T WATCH
IT! I beg you, please... It is just horrible. Lucy has buck-teeth
with dark hair, and Susan is blonde. I don't think that the script
writers actually read the book.
