Same sex
couples know they can't interbreed.
Becoming a
couple is taboo, but they do it anyway.
The
exploration of this dilema is begging to have a story written about
it.
It is what
POTS would have done in 1969 if they could have got away with it -
IMHO.

Whitty,
In PLANET, that was just a screw-up and you know it... It's pretty safe to say they just went and used chimp appliances rather than going thru the trouble of creating female gorilla appliances for what would
basically be a background ape... Yes, they should have made an actress up properly for the funeral scene, but they didn't... It still doesn't mean that the apes species would intermarry, because it's
impossible for them to interbreed because they are all seperate species.
I am not against the idea of some young gorilla being orphaned and raised by a chimp foster parent, or the idea that a gorilla father would become widowed and have his son raised by a chimp nanny, etc. I am just
saying keep their species from inter-species marrying...
-
The apes' society would evolve to the point they would intermarry and when their science also evolved, they would find a way to reproduce. However, in the original planet, it is clear (to
me anyways) that all three species do not mix through marriage and even rarely socialize. We see them working together but any relationships between the three great apes would have to be extremely hidden. This is also a
patriarchal society. My guess is that
- parents may even chose their daughters' husbands. For example, a gorilla
- general would not want his daughter to marry a soldier but an officer, let alone a chimp or orangutan. Chimps look down upon gorillas, a chimp
- interested in a gorilla might be ostracized from his or her family. Elaine

Whitty,
In PLANET, that was just a screw-up and you know it...
Elaine
- Michael and Neil, you have done a great job with the comics. If intermarriage is a storyline you want to explore. Go for it. I always
- encourage people to use their imagination. Now I'll go to Cougar's house and see if he needs CPR. Elaine

taboos. I could see a Garvon equivalent with a non-chimp wife, or a
gorilla bounty hunter with an orangutan wife.
I just had an interesting thought: What if the gorilla in Planet was
secretly assassinated for marrying a chimp?

This is a fallacy. Many separate species in the same genus
can interbreed. However the offspring are seldom fertile.
I suggest everyone check out that Humanzee program next

The mixed marriage thing is not something I have a problem with either
why couldn't it happen between the apes? Especially in the more remote

I think it would be a good addition to a story line. It could also
include some sort of Dragoons / KKK type bunch of apes fiercely

I commented. I said the artwork was great as usual,
but I have to go back and reread the previous ones
before I can comment on the story, because I can't
remember where it left off. As I recall the last one
had no dialogue. Was there one after
that? <.html

Marvel UK issue 32 is now available to download from Hunter's site. Aside from the next thrilling chapter in the Derek Zane storyline, there is also an interview with Wally Harton, who served as chief costumer
on Planet, Beneath and Battle. Finally, the back cover has a color photo of Cornelius and Zira and teases the upcoming adaptation of Beneath, just a few short weeks away.

The mixed marriage thing is not something I have a problem with either why couldn't it happen between the apes? Especially in the more remote
outlying regions. I think it would be a good addition to a story line. It could also include some sort of Dragoons / KKK type bunch of apes fiercely opposed to such mixed marriages.

There could also be apes having relationships in secret. For example, maybe a high ranking gorilla is seeing a chimp in secret etc. Elaine <.html

Garvon's
assistant will be driven by guilt and fear now.
He knows not
to share his findings.......he feels responsible for his mentor's
death.
Ursus - dress

Great artwork as usual. I like the denial part and the possible explanation that the forefathers were playing a joke. This suggests that the apes believe their forefathers had a sense of humor or they
manipulate history to suit them. Great job! Elaine
I guess any artifact discovered that represents an advanced form of technology. Evidence that a civilization had medicine and mathematics(the Mayans come to mind). Elaine
