Starting back from chapter
9 he is introduced as Chief of
Security so this gives away that this story is set before
Beneath. It was also intended to be set before
Planet, which is why
Marcus is 'Young Lieutenant Marcus' (ch. 12)
So as he is still only the CoS

series borrowed stuff from the movies I just carried on a POTA

Michael,
Thanks for sending me the latest strip! Awesome!! I know I've said this before, but each strip leaves me with the same word on my mind....NEXT!! I can't wait to see where this is going. Neil, your art is
outstanding! I loved your explanation of the outfit you have put on Ursus. I appreciate the insight to the thoughts that go into your art.
Thanks again, for another outstanding strip!

Yes, there
is a whole lot of thought put into ALL these comics.
AND (as we found out in the City of Angels)
there are a few F*#K ups too! :)

I do appreciate all the thought that goes into these strips! It is truly a dream come true for this Apes fan! A strip of this quality is priceless. You and Neil make the perfect team. I can't wait to see
how Zaius, Ursus, the Mutants, et al., all come together.
Thank you!

unread emails here so I'll have A LOT of catching
up to do when I get back.....been working too much!
But just wanted to say that my local paper's movie
critic this morning says that the new animated film
"Madagascar" had the funniest Planet of the Apes joke
he's ever seen! Might be worth checking out! I'll
check back in next week...!

Hey everyone, I'm not sure if anyone has posted this story, but I found it very interesting and thought I would share it anyhow.
---------------------------------------------------
Balasore (Orissa) | May 25, 2005 7:44:06 PM IST
Balasore (Orissa), May 25 : Aping Hindu rituals to a T, a monkey
appeared at an Orissa temple, prayed for an hour folding its hands in the traditional sign of respect, took prasad, put vermilion on its forehead - and then fled.
Looking at it as a miracle are residents of Junia village in Balasore district, who responded by worshipping it in turn and garlanding the simian before it ran away.
It all happened earlier this week Monday when the simian, who had never been seen in the area earlier, appeared at about 10 a.m. near a Shiva temple and offered flowers at the shrine.
It was the day that devotees were formally inaugurating the stone symbol that is seen to represent Lord Shiva.
Said Aniruddha Behera, a village resident: "The monkey folded his
hands, observed silence, put vermilion on his forehead and also took the prasad from the
devotees."
"When we saw the monkey joining us we were surprised. We did not try to drive it out and it continued praying for nearly an hour amid hundreds of devotees," Behera told IANS.
It stayed around till evening when it ran into the nearby forests.
"We have not seen any monkey around for the last two years. This is a miracle for us," Behera said.

IT'S A LIGHTER! A LIGHTER, OK?
I just thought it odd that I never noticed it before, or if I had, I never gave it any thought.
In the "water-check" scene, Taylor takes a lighter out of his pants pocket to light his cigar. It looks like a black butane. It sure ain't a Bic.

That Soldier Ape is hard to find. Well, you usually find one of him
on Ebay a lot but I have never seen him in any if the Web Stroes I
buy from and Sideshow has him listed as Sold Out.
The Zaius you can still get from Sideshow. I see him alot on Ebay
but he is the Exclusive Version.

.html I just wanted to say that the Topps cards (which Topps, of course,
didn't really do) of BENEATH, ESCAPE, and CONQUEST are just the
coolest things I've seen in a long while. Kudos to everybody who had
a hand in their creation, from the screen-grabber (Dave Ballard?) to
the caption-writer, to ... well, I just can't effuse enough. It takes
a while to download 'em on dial-up, but it sure is worth it.
How long until the BATTLE set is up?
My only complaint is that there aren't enough cards in each set. I
want MORE, MORE, MORE!
And MORE, d'ya hear?
Patrick
P.S. Mike, I'll try to arrange all the Within strips I've saved to my
hard-drive and peruse 'em all so far. Though I don't consider 'em
canon, they're still very entertaining -- and the art, of course, is
magnificent. <.html

Patrick:
Glad you like the cards. I do the screen grabs and color correct/adjust them before I drop them into the card frames and add the captions. Dave is one of a few people who I show the images to for feedback before
they get posted. When I mentioned that I wasn't happy with some of the first-draft captions I came up with for the Escape set, Dave provided some alternates.
Neil Foster created the art on the card backs as well as the wrapper, and Kassidy Rae goes over the text I write for the card backs before I commit it to cold, hard type.
I'm hoping to get the Battle set done in about a month or so. First I have to get ahead on the Marvel UK comics by a few weeks. As far as the number in each set, I feel bound to match the size of the original
Topps movie set. I do enough grabs that I could easily make the sets twice as big, but it seems wrong for the sequel sets to be larger than the original Planet set.

I just wanted to say that the Topps cards (which Topps, of course,
didn't really do) of BENEATH, ESCAPE, and CONQUEST are just the coolest things I've seen in a long while. Kudos to everybody who had
a hand in their creation, from the screen-grabber (Dave Ballard?) to the caption-writer, to ... well, I just can't effuse enough. It takes a while to download 'em on dial-up, but it sure is worth it.
How long until the BATTLE set is up?
My only complaint is that there aren't enough cards in each set. I want MORE, MORE, MORE!
And MORE, d'ya hear?
Patrick
P.S. Mike, I'll try to arrange all the Within strips I've saved to my hard-drive and peruse 'em all so far. Though I don't consider 'em
canon, they're still very entertaining -- and the art, of course, is magnificent.

If that's the case, why don't you do a second set for the first film? There are plenty of
cool images that Topps never used.
I agree, that these are just about some of the coolest things I've seen from a fan-art
perspective. You guys should be commended on this.

Whew...just spent the last couple of hours going
through over 400 messages........! I'm working on a
film painting signs then I went to the beach so I
hadn't checked in for awhile.......but here's my
comments wrapping up...
The Conquest cards are great!!! Would love to see a
Return set and anything else you guys and gals can
come up with!
I LOVED Lancelot Link! Also would love to have an
official DVD set...I have looked for the bootlegs at
SciFi shows but people are always sold out!
I nominate myself to see WIthin Chapter
39!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I think of the color blue on POTA, what comes to
mind are those deep rich blue surgeon smocks on the TV
show on Wanda etc.
That "Blue Zira" painting is based on a pic of Paula
Christ but I guess it officially would be Zira as
that's who she was playing! Pic attached
I appreciate all the great work continuing....comics,
cards, Uncle Mannys etc.....keep it up because it is
all greatly appreciated !!!!!

I was going
to say I thought it looked more like Wanda from the TV Show but yes this is
certainly the source!
Being a B&W Photo, no wonder the colours are
slightly "WRONG"!.
Maybe this
accounts for a lot of the colour variations on various POTA products - if the
source photo is B&W!

It's a big business in Japan.
Usually it's the animation runners that snag the cells and sell them.

Well Mego by another name anyway. It's a Palitoy ad that
was in one of the issues of the UK POTA comic. I 'removed' some of the art that
had Star Trek figures on it and the POTA logo from the ape side. The artist's
name is Frank Langford, I'm assuming he is British.
Just another in
the line of unique and rarely seen POTA art from the comics that I will be
bringing to you in the near future!

Sideshow just made it up.
I wonder if Patrick can explain how Taylor suddenly has his dogtags in BENEATH. Did Dehn just goof again, or did Roswell aliens give them to him, or did an extra pair fall from the mothership? Maybe Taylor
had them up his butt all during PLANET.

It’s about the only way we really
know there is anyone out there.
Currently there seem to be only about 10
different people on this group.
If there are others then I’d be
surprised.
I’d prefer to know who IS out there,
and this seems about the best way to achieve it.

Thanks John.
Going Home is finished now.
It is with Platinum Comics who are very
interested in it and they are even MORE interested in where the second and
third parts will take us.
We’re not rushing into anything but
the future for POTA comics looks good.
HOWEVER, Neil and I are working on a brand
new “superhero” (for want of a better word) that is likely to
provide us more fame and fortune than the talking monkeys, so there will come a
time for choices as well.

I received mine yesterday and will take some pics and post them later

them. I took the Forbidden Zone Astronaut Taylor and took of his space
suit and put the long animal skin that came with the Taylor and Nova

them from the package, about an hour later Novas hair bunches out. I
put the reubber band that they had her hair tied back with around the

hope to train her hair to stay down. <.html

It's been a while since we've had a new script added to the archive on Hunter's site, but thanks to Mark Rogers we now have one of the TV episode scripts we were missing: The Good Seeds.
Mark runs an excellent site devoted to the TV series. Among the many amazing things he has on his site is the text of the series bible. He's provided scans of this document so that you can download and print a

Hey, I found
a Short Story on Mark's site - it was a competition winner for the Fan

I wonder if
Mr Ballard read this before he wrote MONUMENT?
RELIC OF A PAST
FORGOTTEN:
by Steven Gough |
I fail to see what produces such an interest in a plain
hole in the ground. remarked Galen, his temper rising as he was ignored.
His two human companions conferred hurriedly and nodded. Galen
snorted. Did you say something Galen? asked Alan Virdon,
turning around. The chimp fixed his right eye on the human, closed the
other for effect and growled, between clenched teeth, I have been trying
to say something for the past half hour, I have been trying to glean some
spark of information from you for thirty minutes, I have been completely
ignored and now I demand to know what is so fascinating about this
hole! That hole, said Pete Burke, joining the other two,
is the main air conduit for the subterranean Cape Canaveral Rocket Launch
Complex. It may, just may, be our entrance into the Cape, where there just
may be a computer still in operation and against all odds there may be a
usable spacecraft which will be our ticket out of here and back to our own
time. Galen walked to the mouth of the conduit. Do we go
now or later? The conduit was a cylindrical metal tube, unlit and
surprisingly smooth and un-corroded. It opened with a straight drop of
twenty feet, continuing level for some miles. In complete silence the
three fugitives walked until Virdon came up against a flat dead-end.
Nursing a sore leg and a nose bleed he turned to his invisible companions
and asked, What do we do now? Pete? Galen? Any ideas? Go
back, said Galen, We cant go on. Im not so sure, said
Virdon thoughtfully. Pete, give me a hand up here will you? Tentatively
approaching the area of his forced halt, Virdon rapped on the wall. It
rang like a church bell. After several heavy kicks, a circular panel gave
way into a dimly lit chamber. It was a museum, undoubtedly
and unquestionably. Arranged on right and left were models and specimens
of spacecraft covering two centuries of progress. None were usable however
and only the first models had controls even vaguely familiar to the two
astronauts. The trio wandered around the chamber for hours, looking,
examining and also searching for an exit. Then Galen, who had fallen
behind, gave a cry and called to his companions. Dashing to him, all three
stood and stared. Before them was a yard long scale model of the
astronauts own craft. It rested on a wooden pedestal, on the front of
which was a plaque which read: |
In memory of those who went first ; Alan Virdon Captain, Peter
Burke Pilot, Edward Jones Navigator. Crew of the Interstella Mission
1, Lost August 1988. Gone but not forgotten. |
I wonder Pete, whispered Virdon, if this means we will never
return or is it just a product of a future not to
exist? Maybe thats our own future to decide, replied his
friend. |
| THE END |
It's been a while since we've had a new script added to the archive on
Hunter's site, but thanks to Mark Rogers we now have one of the TV episode
scripts we were missing: The Good Seeds.
Mark runs an excellent site devoted to the TV series. Among the many
amazing things he has on his site is the text of the series bible. He's
provided scans of this document so that you can download and print a copy for
yourself.

Thanks
Greg.
So what are
the scripts that you require to complete the
series?
Michael
