Hello All
I was talking to a rep from Sideshow and he said that they have redone
the Caesar scuplt and they should post pictures on the site buy next
week.
ALSO, he said if the Ape fans don't want to see the line end to flood
Sideshow with email and snail mail. He said that they ususally listen
to the customer but their didn't seem to be much of an interest since
not many of them are selling out. But he stated nevertheless they
(Sidshow) needs to hear from us if we want the line continued. So come
on guys, "Fight Like Apes!!!" to get more Apes from Sideshow!!

They actually redid the Caesar sculpt? I sent them an email awhile ago about Caesar and didn't receive any reply. Is there a picture of the new Caesar? Elaine

  •  This is an interesting idea that could be explored in fan fic. How would Taylor do defending Zira and Cornelius back in his own world? Elaine

Tough call.
He's pretty good against a
medium size force of gorillas.
But how good would he be
against the LAPD & the
National Guard?  Cornelius
had a gun, and he was
useless.  I think Chuck
would do fairly well, if he
had his Omega Man gear.

The raw captures are available now on Hunter's site. On the same page
that displays the cards there's a link to a large zip file with 143
jpegs. The first 44 are the images seen in the cards, the others are
captures I didn't use.

If the guy wasn't lying to me Elaine he said the new pics should be
posted in about 2 weeks. I emailed them when I first saw the Caesar
and even sent in a picture to show the difference and never heard
back from them either. So, lets keep our fingers crossed and hope
the new sculpt doens't look like VIncent Price like the Brent figure
does.

It sure seems like Jack Kirby was influenced by the movies but it
certainly had nothing to do with the comics.

Like I said in an earlier post Kirby denied in an interview that he
copied POTA. I will have a look for it when I get the time and post
what he had to say about it.

I was actually talking about the novel for Battle. I'm not a big fan
of the original Monkey Planet novel and I am very thankful for all the
changes that where made. I hate the French. ;)

Yeah, that and the fact that Zira and Cornelius
felt that going back with Zaius and standing
trial for heresy was better than going with him.
That's got to hurt.

Tough call.
He's pretty good against a
medium size force of gorillas.
But how good would he be

had a gun, and he was
useless.  I think Chuck

I just hope the guy wasn't lying. Since they are considering on ending
the line I can see them using the Cornelius sculpt to save money. A
lot of people like Caesar though so maybe if they do a good job on him
it will spark intrest in the line. A friend of mine who is not an Ape
fan or collector said he would buy a Caesar if he looked like Caesar
from the movies. He bought the Medicom Caesar just because he thinks
Conquest is the best one of the 5 films

Here! A combination of holidays and excessively busy work hours has kept me
from participating (so I'm only on daily digest these days).

I've finally caught up, but I've lost track of the comics thread - the last
part of "Within" you sent me was Chapter 39, which I again enjoyed. Can you
send however many parts have been published since then please? Also, I read
the first part of "Going Home" - is there a new chapter of this one too? If
so, please let me see it!

And while everything has pretty much been said on the matter, I'd just to
add that I love Kamandi and own most of the original issues. (And yet that
hardcover collection is tempting...)

In all honesty I hope it is a typical POTA comic where the cover has NOTHING to do with the content!

Yes that was the conclusion I came too as well.

But the mouth on the gorilla looks quite disproportionate!

It makes me think that maybe this is set between Conquest and Battle ….which could be really cool.  I imagine they will try to explain how the apes took off to a tree village and were unharmed while humans threw bombs at each other!

I think it is going for a more real and less evolved ape for Caesar
to lead to revolution. Remember the apes in Conquest were trained to
do human tasks but were still suposed to be animals who could not yet
speak or perform rational thought. I'm trying not to get my hopes up
too high. It would be great to be able to see the Planet of the Apes
logo at my local comics shop again.

In issue #40 posted on Hunter's site there is an ad for rodeos around
England that says that they did a Planet of the Apes stunt show.
Anyone ever see this or hear anything about this. I know here in the
States Apes appeared at car conventions and things of that nature.

The newest issue is now available for download from Hunter's site. This issue continues the Beneath adaptation (and gets us to the halfway point - 6 issue down, 6 more to go). I also included an ad for the UK rodeo shows that appeared in this issue instead of the regular letter column.

Based on the headline in the newspaper "Caesar Says No to Negotiations" it would appear that this does take place between Conquest and Battle.

This wouldn't be the first PotA comic to portray the apes more like real apes instead of making them appear as they do in the films. While I prefer the apes to be drawn the way they appear in the films (the way Neil draws them) it doesn't bother me if this is the way they choose to go. After all, comics don't have the same restrictions as films. They don't have to figure out how to do realistic ape make-up within certain time and budget constraints, or fashion costumes that have to fit on a human frame but still look ape-like.

I've never heard of Mr. Comics as a comics publisher, and can't seem to find a web site for them. Hopefully they will launch a site soon or do some sort of press release with more information.

I doubt that the series would feature unclothed apes, but you never
know. (Isn't that the whole point of POTA? They're like us, but apes.)

I'm guessing here, but perhaps the cover shown is some sort of break
out event in which apes first revolt (hence the 'nakedness') and
      thereafter create their own civilization.

These guys did clearly say that this was supposed to be a 'classic'
apes comic. At least that was what Ken Fowler (one of the artists in
the series) said to me when we met.

Micheal, perhaps Ty gave you a bit more about this angle?

If they put clothes on the apes as shown here, it may end up being
something in between the 'classic' apes and 2001 Burton apes. I sure
hope they are not doing that on purpose in order to get fans of both
      versions.

Well according to the lady who handles the POTA Franchise Licensing in FOX, the company is Metallic Rose.

Happily, there is news.  Metallic Rose Comics will be publishing new, original POTA comics.  No firm word on release date, but we're getting there.

Let me know if you have any further questions.
      Sincerely,
      Debbie

I've never heard of Mr. Comics as a comics publisher, and can't seem to find a web site for them. Hopefully they will launch a site soon or do some sort of press release with more information.

After looking at the cover of this new comic all I have to say is I
think the comics that are being put together buy our talented artist
and story teller on the site is FAR better than what I see on that
comic cover. At least the comics that Neil and Michael are putting

this new comic book looks like an outbreak at the Zoo. The art work
isn't as good as what we have in "Within the Planet of the Apes"
and "Going Home" and "Beware the Beast" or the comic "Rider from the

Were the pictures they gave out just stock photos (film

themselves, in costume? It would be interesting if they we'rent just
stock photos. That would make them unique. If they were unique I

          obtain them......different than the Blake/Christ
handout photos which were of them not the actors.

I'm looking for that behind-the-scenes pic of
Lisa.  I lost it in The Great PC Crash of ' 05.
Anyone got that?  I can't remember which file.

fans." I told her about the conversation I had on the Web Chat and was
told that the line was ending. She replied, "Really?? We haven't heard
that. The Ape line is selling really well and the last we heard they
are still looking at other characters in the line to release next."
She stated that she would look into it and let me know buy email if
she heard different. I told her about the DG and she said that we need
to let Sideshow know buy mail or email or phone waat characters we

Yes, I do have the Da-Glo banner.  Paid $500 for it a few years ago.  I remember that a POTA standee was on eBay several years ago.  A guy in Las Vagas got it.  I corresponded with him via email for a while, but that was years ago.

I stopped collecting movie posters a few years ago.  Just got tired of spending the money.  I have four original PLANET one-sheets and more stuff, but I'm just gonna hang on to it until I'm a really old fart.

            Well, anyhoo....
