Hi, Michael,

Thanks for sending the latest "Going Home". I think I missed page 8. The last one I have ended with page 7. Is page 8 available?

Thanks again!

This is Commander Taylor. Astronaut.
He landed in a world where apes are
the civilized rulers and man the beast.

This is Marcus, Head of security police.
His specialty: violence and torture.

This is Nova. The wild human animal
captured and selected for special
mating purposes.

This is Dr. Zaius. Brilliant scientist.
Only he has the power to save
and destroy the animal called man.

Oh, sorry. I obviously got the copy off another poster, and I didn't notice that all of the copy is different. Anyway, here's Zira's:

This is Dr. Zira, leading psychologist, seeker of truth. Her experiments on men have led her to a secret about the human animal. If she reveals it, she will be tortured, for it will endanger civilization on the Planet of the Apes.

.html.html I've just read that Fox is working on a 40th Anniversary edition DVD of THE SOUND OF MUSIC, and a 30th Anniversary edition of THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE show.  So, I guess Fox really likes celebrating anniversaries and I would guess there should be a 40th Anniversary APES collection in 2008.  NOW, I said "NOW!" would be a good time to flood them with requests for what you'd like to see in the way of extras.  Knowing how late with the observances of anniversaries they are, it probably won't be until late 2008 that they'd release anything.  So, it'll be over three years from now.  That's gives us plenty of begging time, AND I DO MEAN BEG -- if you care.  I know most of you out there are probably pretty burned out with this by now, but this is the way it has always been with a corporation like Fox.  Better they hear from you than if they don't.

Has anyone else read "The Mocking Program" by Alan Dean Foster? It's
sort of a near-future cyberpunk novel, but there's a bit about midway
through that needs to be mentioned here. The main characters hide out
in a simian sanctuary run by talking gorillas, orangutans, and
chimpanzees. One of the apes even mentions Planet of the Apes.

A local store had hardback copies on sale a couple of weeks ago. If
anyone's interested, I'll see if they still have any.

We know that ROCKY HORROR has a campy (as in gay) cult following, but I kind of think most of the fan base for SOUND OF MUSIC is kind of fey too.  Well, you know how much money "those people" have, especially to waste on DVDs.  Maybe what APES needs is more homos (not sapians) really into it.  If only Chuck hadn't been such a right-wing prig and more of a limp-wristed liberal!  Roddy just didn't have the physique to pull them in, but that James Franciscus was kind of cute.

If

It seems they had screenings of Kamikaze Girls and Ranma1/2 at Comic Con.  Ranma is so old they don't show it at anime conventions anymore, and Kamikaze Girls is so new no English sub is available.

Ranma like Inu Yasha is an anime from a Rumiko Takahashi manga.  It's about a boy who falls into a cursed spring in China on a martial arts training mission and now cold water turns him into a girl, much to the dismay of his reluctant fiance.

Kamikaze Girls is a live action film about a girl who goes to Tokyo to by clothes and is befriended by a girl in a bicker gang.  Very funny stuff.  If you get the opportunity to see either of these classics grab it with both hands.

I sent a letter out last week. As a matter of fact, I sent out 4
letters to FOx. There is a folder in the Files section titled letter
and it has addresses and sample letters.
I am with Rory on this one; let Fox know we want these with all the
extras. If you don't feel like writing a letter, print off one of
the letters in the file section.

My buddy said that he saw an episode of the Simpons that implied
that Roddy was gay. Anyone know if there is any truth to this (was
he gay)? I sure hope not.

Even more interesting than the actors you thought were straight but turned out to be gay, are the actors you suspected to be gay but were straight!  Now that's a surprise!  Then there are those that remain a"matter-of-dispute"  It's a fun site.  They don't have everything on everybody. But . . . Have ours of fun outing your favorite actor!

You knew Heston was straight, right?

            Charlton HestonAKA John Charlton Carter

            Born: 4-Oct-1924
            Birthplace: Evanston, IL

            Gender: Male
            Religion: Protestant
            Ethnicity: White
            Sexual orientation: Straight
            Occupation: Actor

            Level of fame: Famous
Executive summary: Heston is the NRA

Military service: U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII (Sgt.)

Charlton Heston's parents were divorced when he was ten, and he lived with his mother and, later, stepfather. The young ham studied drama at Northwestern University, where he first stepped before the camera at age 16 in a student-filmed silent production of the Henrik Ibsen play, Peer Gynt.

As an actor, Heston is most famous for larger-than-life roles in a series of epics, including Orson Welles' Touch of Evil (1958), Ben-Hur (1959), which won him an Oscar, El Cid (1961), and the underrated classic Khartoum (1966). In his schlock era, there's Planet of the Apes (1968), Soylent Green (1973), the disaster flicks Airport (1974) and Earthquake (1975), and TV's The Colbys (1985-87), a lame spin-off of Dynasty.

Off screen, Heston was loudly liberal, active in the civil rights movement, and marched on Washington DC with Martin Luther King in 1963. He was president of the Screen Actors Guild from 1966 to 1971, then evolved into an arch-conservative, and served as president of the National Rifle Association from 1998-2002. As NRA chief, Heston once held a 1776-era musket and uttered his most famous line: "I have only five words for you: From my cold, dead hands." He's written three autobiographies, and probably won't write a fourth, as he's been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.

As it's been announced recently, Fox has done an incredible special edition of "The Fly' from 1986. That seems like an odd choice. It was a hit but not on an "Alien" or "Sound of Music" level. But there was a big on-line petition to do a special edition and there are many who love it (like me) so it would seem that speaking out carried the day in that case. - - - Jeff

I've just read that Fox is working on a 40th Anniversary edition DVD of THE SOUND OF MUSIC, and a 30th Anniversary edition of THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE show.

The fugitive trio hear about Urko's new 'torture device'. While Virdon

I am just concerned that he may have cheated on Zira. That is
depressing. Who knows what was going on when he was at the dig site.
Was that why Zaius wanted it blown up? Maybe Dr. Z was their on a
few nights and he was afraid that Cornelius would tell. Was Milo
with him at the dig site? And Sal Mino who played Milo was gay as
well. Maybe their was something more going on inside of that space
              ship then we all knew.

Okay. Let's do a round robin fanfic. Virdon is in the desert in a dress singing show tunes to himself.  He stumbles upon a recording device in which he sings into it all the songs from the musical Cats. Urko finds the device after Virdon wanders off and brings it to Zaius. They listen to it, and decide to use it as a torture device. Next. Elaine

It's been getting harder to do the big intros, because this stretch of issues mostly has just the adaptations. No articles (except for one upcoming issue) and some don't even have letter columns. Plus I scanned and cleaned these issues over a month ago, so they aren't as fresh in my mind and I don't always have time to review them before posting the announcements.

I just took a quick look at the issue and there is something interesting I can note about it. There's an extreme shortage of apes. Brent is being questioned by the mutant council in this part of the story, so the only apes are on the cover and the letter column. There are no apes in the actual story part of the comic. And yet it's still great.

He’s shitty because “our good friends” on the other group are making an orchestrated attempt to suck you lot into posting over there and you are falling for it.

I mean it’s fine to just start a new thread, but when they steal old DG threads that got a lot of hits and use them to steal attention I think that’s low.  Then if we say something about it we just sound bitter and paranoid.  Can’t win.

Now Dave Dullard is accusing someone of “removing” him from the DG.  I would love to know where he got that one from.  The gutless turd didn’t bother asking Neil or I what was going on (not that I know – I think it could have been a YAHOO! thing) but waited for an opportune time to make out it was a nasty gesture.

And thanks Dario for setting the morons straight about the comics – but I tell you now Dave and John “Cock”Roache are flat out lying and Neil can verify this…..I sent them Dario’s email about the comics and I mentioned to them I asked Ty Templeton if he could give them an interview for Scrolls.  Why they are lying about that I am not sure.

I will say this though – if you want to keep getting the benefits of this group, don’t be suckered over there.

They got Rory in recently with a fake member who claims to be a New Yorker (and mysteriously disappeared when questioned), they have a few fake members over there who know when to bring up certain things (eg when things are slow they talk Kim or Zira and they know T will chime in, or they say something stupid and they know Cougar will pipe up).  It is just so blatantly fake and it seems much of POTA fandom has slipped into people bullshiting to make themselves appear more important…very sad!

You guys know you are my heroes. I talked Satan today and asked him
to "take care of" what was going on in the other group. That is the
great thing about the Devil, with him you just tell him what you want
and you get it. He said to tell you hi, Neil and to stop feeling
guilty about touching yourself but stop thinking about Zira when you
do. It creeps him out a little bit. ;)

That sly “devil”!  He only knows Neil because I introduced him!

You tell him I said “high”….he’ll know what I’m on about.

Oh…and thanks for sorting out those other moronic pricks for us.

And the rest of you should just leave talking to Satan in the hands of John!  J

You guys know you are my heroes. I talked Satan today and asked him
to "take care of" what was going on in the other group. That is the
great thing about the Devil, with him you just tell him what you want
and you get it. He said to tell you hi, Neil and to stop feeling
guilty about touching yourself but stop thinking about Zira when you
do. It creeps him out a little bit. ;)

I have never been "suckered" into posting to any
group, Michael. I am a member of both groups and
threads come up on both groups... some new some
old.....I do not favor one group over the other. I do
not want to be accused anymore of playing favorites or
sides. I enjoy both groups and hope that someday all
these rifts can be healed. Til then, I will continue
                to participate in both groups.

                Ditto here Tim.

I know that there are rifts among the groups and individuals, but I
too like to tune into all the POTA groups out there. I won't try to
mend fences, but I do hope that everyone will let neutral members like
myself continue to participate. The POTA world is a small one and I
think it is a benefit to all fans if everyone just enjoyed and
cooperated. There is no such thing as the ultimate fan or group. The
pleasure for me is picking the knowledge of others and also listening
in on ideas and possibilities put forth by, others, even if I disagree
at times. What bugs me most about the current state of things is that
I believe that so much more intelligent conversation is being missed
because there are so many people that are on just one side of the
fence. I will even let a little flaming go by if others want to
indulge in that now and then, as long as it does not take over the
group and cooler heads prevail after a time.

As an ape once said "Can't we all just learn to get along?"
(Now see what you made me do? I quoted 2001!. Oh the shame....)

As Burke and Virdon teach Galen the lyrics to the
Gilligan's, they also explain what a theme song is,
what a Gilligan is, what a TV is, what an island is
....then lapse into a nostalgic pause as they
contemplate "a three hour tour".....they realize that,
just like the castaways, they too shall have to live
a life waiting and hoping that a "rescue boat" comes
to find them and hope and pray that it is not piloted
by "Wrongway Feldman"......they sit in silence humming
while Galen stares at them with worry......
