That's all you've done all this time? Slackers. ;) Seriously, thank
you for catching me up to date on the "Within" strip. I love the
panel of the gorillas fighting amongst themselves due to the mutant
mind control. I did check out the preview pages for "Revolution" and
am highly excited. Something seems to be taken away once the pages
are colored though. It may just be too dark on my computer but it
seems a lot of detail is missing once they are colored. It also looks
like they were colored with colored pencils not the high tech systems
most comics are using. But that's just me. I am really impressed with
Caesar. They captured that dark, emotionaly driven, violent aspect to
his character that I remembered cheering for as a demented kid,
before they turned him into a peace loving hippie for "Battle". I
hope it helps attract other tortured souls who may have
thought "Planet of the Apes" was goofy and not given it a chance.

On a Mac, just double-click the font, or drag the font to the
FontBook application, then follow the prompts.

The Fonts control panel on my wife's computer seems to just open the
Fonts folders. I guess you just drop it in.

Just read some latest news on the Mr Comics (http://www.mrcomics.ca/) web site that has me very excited:

"Speaking of talking monkeys. It's time to let them have their say. Starting next week, you'll be able to read a complete, all new Planet of the Apes story for FREE on our website. Did he say free? I think he did.

That's right. We're not going to be on sale for a couple of months, and we're so impatient to get this stuff out there that we've decided to give you our first story all for the price of a few electromagnetic pulses.

Give us a couple of days to figure out what all these funny blinking buttons do on our computeratrons, and we'll have it ready for you before you can shout "Ape must not kill ape!".

Ty"

oh, yeah!......!!!!

Subject: POTA Musical on DVD
.html
.html
Fox has announced the release date (December 13) for the 7th season DVD set of top-selling "The Simpsons", which includes the episode "A Fish Called Selma" which includes the POTA musical which includes "Dr. Zauis, Dr. Zauis...". The Simpsons have had their share of POTA parodies but the POTA musical takes the cake. Sure, you have to buy the whole season, but how painful is that? The following link also mentions the many extras on the set; nothing POTA related (so far) but it's not a complete list. "The Simpsons", Season 7. You can't hate every ape you see, from chimpan A to chimpan Z without it.   http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=4233   . - - - Jeff

Apes ashore! Marvel's awesome adaptation of Escape From the Planet of the Apes continues this week. It's a short installment, with only 8 pages of comics and a letters page. However, like last week's installment, this week's contains parts of the script that didn't make the final cut of the film, specifically dialog between the ape-o-nauts on board Taylor's ship.

I've found the first issue of Mr. Comics' Revolution on the Planet of the Apes mini-series available for pre-ordering on at least two sites that take pre-orders.

It will cost you about $10 including postage to order the comic from either of these sites.

Here's a link to a list of sites that sell comics online. While I can recommend both Westfield and Mile High because I've ordered from both and not had any problems, I can't personally vouch for any of the others on this list, although I've heard that Discount Comic Book Service (http://www.dcbservice.com/) is good.

Here's the list. You may find a better discount and/or lower shipping costs if you look around.

Yeah, maybe Neil.  But Fox are notorious feet draggers.
Look at the last one.  It floated around Development Hell
for ten years!      Different scripts.  Different Directors.
Then when they got down too it,  They picked a script --
Pt two hacks on it to whittle it down and make it cheaper
to shoot.  Gave Burton a year to shoot and edit. And then
chopped four months off of that.  I'm not saying that Fox
can't make a decent POTA film any more -- they just
need to either get the suits behind it 100%, or keep them
out of the way.  Luckily they weren't hip enough to get
the first one, or they would have been all over it too.

I guess if I seperate the 2001 version from the originals, I can
stomach it and enjoy it to a certain point. But I haven't bought any
of the figures or stuff related to it and doubt if I evenr will. I
went and saw it when it was first released at the theater and
haven't seen it since. I haven't went out and bought the DVD of it
so I can't really comment on the directors comments.

Yeah, the Ari was particularly bad with the hair not covering the forehead.
I wasn't going to bother with it, even when it went to the bargain bin.  But
I won the bid on the prototype.  It had different colors of plastic than the
production run, so I got it as an oddity.  Fox really to a hit on the figures.
I'm sure they wanted to make back the money they lost to Lucas on SW.

Strip 47 - I love the gorillas in action poses. Did anyone else
notice that four of the seven standing appear to be left-handed?

Strip 48 - Neil, you sneak! You've stop using vertical lines to
separate the individual panels. I like it! Great likeness of Victor
Buono, also.

Strip 49 - I like the way the rocks in the wall projection blend in
with the walls of the cavern. It looks much more realistic than the
effects used in the movie.

Strip 50 - I agree with Dario that the scaffolding adds a lot to this
strip. Besides the points he makes, it adds depth to the panel. I
just wish I knew what the gorillas are blowing up.

They are blowing up Dr. Garvon's dig site. Zaius is the kind of Ape

-- Fair enough. These 2 strips really are part of a whole page which
is why there really isn't that much happening in them to move the
story forward on their own.
That is a reason why it has been 2 strips at a time lately, just
releasing one of the strips at a time would have been too confusing to
keep up with what was going on I think.

Has any one else got their copy of the latest Scrolls yet?

I just got mine and it features not only that great cover by our
Graham Hill but also a Nova painting by him on the rear cover!
There are a couple of nice articles / interviews and the usual
professional production by the guys.

My only real beef (and it's a minor one) is that to me the issue seems
a little lightweight compared to recent issues with less in it and I
always want MORE! ;-)

So if you haven't ordered your issue yet get to it now!!!

Love all those gorillas, Neil. I wish they would squash the mutants. Elaine

I think there is some closet pota 2001 fans here despite all the bashing of the movie. How come everytime I bid on ebay for pota 2001 stuff I get outbid!  Yes, I know "You're not the only idiot who liked the movie."  I think I'll go yell at my dog. Elaine

Okay, I'll admit I bought Ari's placemat too.
But hey, it was like $20 bucks.  Cheap!
