Yeah, these things are always a pleasant surprise.
Those lovely folks at Film Score Monthly did it on
at least one disc - sadly not on their Apes
releases, but on the equally excellent release
(now sold out) of THE OMEGA MAN. If you let it
play right to the end you can hear Grainer's
recording session where he got the kids to sing
"Old MacDonald" for one of the scenes in the
movie. Granted, it's not much of a musical
masterpiece but they give you a little bit more
insight into these old recording sessions that
might otherwise be lost forever.

It's called Revolution on the Planet of the Apes,
and it tells the
story of the earliest days of the Ape Rebellion,
picking up shortly
after the movie conquest leaves off. The ORIGINAL
PLANET OF THE APES
characters star in this six issue miniseries.
Featuring Caesar, Aldo,
Dr. Zaius, Cornelius, the Lawgiver, Zira, Colonel
Taylor, and others
from the classic film series.
Story by Eisner-Award winning author Ty Templeton
(Spider-Man Human
Torch, Simpsons, Batman Adventures) and Joe
O'Brien (Robocop: Prime
Directives).
On the art chores, well there's me! 2005 Doug
Wright Awards Nominee
Salgood Sam (Sea of Red, Terminator, RevolveR,
Wonder Woman, Dr.
Strange), I'm drawing the main story for the first
two and last two of
the series, as well as doing a backup in one
other.
Artists include Tom Fowler (Green Arrow, Star
Wars) who's doing #3 &
#4, and colouring it all is Eisner-nominated
colourist Bernie Mireault
(The Jam, Grendel, Dr Robot). Each issue will have
a backup story or
two as well, with a guest artist. You can read one
by Gabriel
Morrisette for free right now on the Mr Comic Web
site!

Revolution on the Planet of the Apes #1
Recommended by Jim Kuhoric
I am really excited about the launch of MR Comics'
new series,
Revolution on the Planet of the Apes. Everything I
have seen so far -
from their brilliant cover images to dazzling
interior art - has
screamed "this is the real deal!" No
super-fancy special effects
trying to cover up bad actors pretending to be
angst-ridden
anti-heroes. No, this is old school, in-your-face
"Chuck
Heston-approved" Planet of the Apes action! I
can hear the haunting
soundtrack from the original film in my head
looking at these
nostalgic images. The story begins in the city of
San Diego in the
near future, ablaze with the flames of ape rebellion.
Caesar is back,
and leading the way for the human-run planet to
transform into a
warlike simian culture. All of the original movie
characters are back
in two new stories per issue, including Cornelius,
Dr. Zaius, Zira,
and Taylor. Classic sci-fi fans, join me in
breaking out those Apes
DVDs and do your best Taylor impression with me -
"get your stinking
paws off me you damned dirty apes!" But be
sure you get your "stinking

-- Well I have heard that POTA does in fact sync with this Floyd
album. It wouldn't be the first either, I have a VCD with Dark Side of
the Moon synced with the first part of The Wizard of Oz and the final
chapter of 2001 A Space Odyssey synced with the Floyd track Echoes.
I know members of Pink Floyd have come out with statements dismissing
that any of these were done deliberately but they sure are a
convincing coincidence!

Even the track titles of THE DIVISION BELL
seem to gel with the appropriate segments of PLANET.
I have brought this up in a PF Chat Group
and they all dismiss it as pure coincidence (to the point that they belittle
anyone thinking otherwise). I am
yet to be convinced though (either way, actually).
When I bought THE DIVISION BELL I was
quite disappointed. I have not
heard it for some time though, and a few PF fans have recently stirred my
interest again. Might have to do
the synch version today! PINK FLOYD
is my fave band (ie all
four different phases of them) and POTA is my fave
movie, so I am a little biased!
Here’s more:
The Division Bell (1994) with Planet of the Apes (1967)
Discovered and written by Kenny Dreamx
Instructions:
Start CD after the 20th Century Fox logo, just as
the actual movie starts to fade in. Repeat CD until the end of the movie.
Clues:
On the cover of TDB is an ape like face. Open the CD booklet
to the song Keep Talking, and there are the monkeys together that make an ape
face. In the book "Mind Over Matter" by
Storm Thorgerson, go to page 139. In the black cape
you'll see an ape face. Stephen Hawkings
saying that "Mankind lived just like animals" on TDB song "Keep
Talking". And at the very end of TDB CD if you turn the volume all
the way up. You'll hear a conversation that syncs up magically with the movie.
"Is that you, Charlie?" referring to Charlton Heston. It's a trip!
What you will see:
The song titles describe what's going on in the movie.
Cluster One
This is the intro to the opening credits. You see stars
glittering & shooting by. In the CD booklet for this song is a picture of
an observatory for watching stars & planets.
What Do You Want from Me
It begins just when the spaceship crashes into the water,
and the crew members are asking the same question, as they try to get out.
Poles Apart
It begins when the last crew member jumps off the spaceship,
and they paddle their way towards a new planet. They are now poles apart from
earth. ['And that you'd never lose that light in your eyes' is sung right as
the bright sun shines in your eyes.]
Marooned
They are now marooned on a desert like planet. Just like the
picture in the CD booklet.
A Great Day for Freedom
This is when they discover life on the planet. They discover
a flower like plant, and trees by a waterfall. The picture in the CD booklet
has flowers floating on water.
Wearing the Inside Out
This is when they go skinny dipping by the waterfall.
They're wearing the inside out.
Take It Back
This is when the apes take them back to the camp.
Coming Back to Life
This is when Charlton Heston comes back to life after being
shot in the throat.
Keep Talking
Heston communicates through writing. His words won't come
out right because he has been shot in the throat. Why won't you talk to me? He
can't talk.
Lost for Words
Heston is gagged with a muzzle. He then fights his way out
of there. The picture in the CD booklet is of boxing gloves.
High Hopes
The ringing of the division bell has begun. Heston is on
trial as you hear the bell's ringing at the end. At the very
end of the CD, if you turn the volume up. You'll hear "Is that you,
Charlie?" as the apes are looking at Charlton (Charlie) Heston. The
picture in the CD booklet for the song "High Hopes" is the same one
on page 139 of "Mind Over Matter" which you
can see an ape face in the black cape, but not in the CD booklet. Publius Enigma has struck again.

I just finished reading both parts of the interview with the two actors that played Cornelius and Zira. It was very well done and provided a lot of insights that
I hadn't thought or didn't know. All the information about costumes, the feet and other ape-ish things was fancinating. I don't know how anyone else felt about this interview but I
thought it was done much better than some of the interviews I've read in todays society. Kasey/Undomiel <.html <.html

This is slightly off topic but I have been visiting the zoo in Boston a couple of times. There is a gorilla family there, male, female and a baby that was born in 2004. Everytime I go, I can't help but notice how
angry the male looks in his eyes. All I can think of is Aldo(maybe my imagination has gone totally crazy). Just an observation. Elaine

I am extremely excited about the new MR comics! and my
local comic store is on alert and will save them for
me when they come in
The lastest chapters of Within and Going Home were
excellent.....I agree with whoever asked if these will
be available in hardcover like Beast...?
Great work on all the scans and downloads.....
I'd like to see the "Desperate Apewives" if any one
has it! or was that on the other group?
Glad to be back and I won't let them build up any

I think “Desperate Apewives” was one of the “hilarious” home

He really does have a unique sense of

I'll gladly comment on the chapters after I read them; I think that's only fair. I'll even pay for them if I have to. But I won't beg. Screw that. I assume it was initially meant as a joke, but I
find it distasteful and disrespectful. Ask me to beg again and I unsubscribe from the DG.

I got my Sideshow mutant leader figure late last week. I have to say I was more impressed with him than I thought I'd be, and Sideshow is doing itself a disservice by not showing the figure better in the
pictures they have online. I thought he'd only be dressed in the robe, but that's actually an accessory. In the box he's dressed in the jacket and pants that the mutants are all seen in. My wife was even
impressed to see that he was wearing socks beneath his slippers. He looked good enough with out the robe that I just left it folded the way it was in the box and placed him on the stand just as he is in the box.
True, he doesn't really look like Mendez, so he's really more a generic mutant than the mutant leader, but he looks good on the shelf with the other figures.

.htmlI thought it was interesting that SS use a bluish grey looking type
of color to mold the Mutants bodies out of. SOrt of goes with the
color of the mutated head.
I found if I pull the hood down far enough to cover his forehead, he
does resemble Mendez to me.
I also have the Mutant Jailer. The only difference is that
the "human face mask" is different; everything else is the same as
the Mutant Leader.
I must admit that I enjoy both of the Mutants. I have having the
jail that Taylor and Brent fought in made to dispaly them Taylor,
Brent, Nova, and the Jailer in.
I only widh Sideshow would reconsider on putting the line on the
shelf and make a few of the TV Series figures.

I'm hoping
Sideshow (and Rittenhouse) have the foresight to place a few ads in the new
comic with details of how to order on-line.
I believe
that would give sales a boost, particularly outside the US. If I did not
have the internet I would not even know about the Sideshow Figures - no shop in
Canberra stocks them.
Michael
I thought it was
interesting that SS use a bluish grey looking type of color to mold the
Mutants bodies out of. SOrt of goes with the color of the mutated
head. I found if I pull the hood down far enough to cover his forehead, he
does resemble Mendez to me. I also have the Mutant Jailer. The only
difference is that the "human face mask" is different; everything else is
the same as the Mutant Leader. I must admit that I enjoy both of the
Mutants. I have having the jail that Taylor and Brent fought in made to
dispaly them Taylor, Brent, Nova, and the Jailer in. I only widh
Sideshow would reconsider on putting the line on the shelf and make a few
of the TV Series figures. John

have to say I was more impressed with him than I thought I'd be, and
Sideshow is doing itself a disservice by not showing the figure better
in the pictures they have online. I thought he'd only be dressed in the
robe, but that's actually an accessory. In the box he's dressed in the
jacket and pants that the mutants are all seen in. My wife was even
impressed to see that he was wearing socks beneath his slippers. He looked
good enough with out the robe that I just left it folded the way it was in
the box and placed him on the stand just as he is in the box. >

to see it.
And if anyone confuses this with “begging”,
I hope you realise it is rather pointless Neil and I wasting all this time and

I don’t think asking for a few
people to actually express interest before we give it over is too much to ask.
If anyone else has any serious suggestions

just make a list of the people who comment on the new strips and only
send the next batch out to those people? The "nomination" system

nominated every time and the rest of us are forgotten until we have
to ask for the strips again.

.html OK then you took me a little too literally Anthony.
We have actually had some fun with torturing people like Dr Zaius Davis with
the prospects of releasing more of the comics and I was referring to that.
And it was in jest - and also generating some life in the group.
I'm actually VERY concerned that all POTA groups are hitting record low
posts. In context, with all the POTA suff going on, it is almost impossible
to believe that we are struggling to find things to comment on.
I'm not going to lower myself to browsing the archives, in search of some of
the topics that generate most discussion (too formulaic for me, sorry!).
So instead I'm trying to utilise the strip Neil and I invented with the
intention of giving you guys and gals something to chat about (formulaic,
too, but original!).
So anyway I think you misread me my friend and I'm sorry if you were
insulted.

.html No, not really.
There are new people joining the group every few days, and people like
Patrick Michael Tilton have wanted to read them for a year and not been able
to!
And remember the objective too - these strips are actually designed to give
the group something to think about and comment on. At first it was the
identity of some of the characters. Also, when the strip is set. And the
role of Ursus' wife in his quest for power.
Maybe currently there's just less to discuss, but even that could be
something to mention.
Some of the feedback we got actually led to the mutants getting involved and
some of the bloody battle scenes!
Anyway, I am getting very frustrated with the lack of participation of some
individuals.

Well, I for one am very eager to see the next few Within strips. I'm also glad to hear you're considering posting them in files rather than the round-robin e-mail distribution you've been using. I
realize the intent was to promote comments from people, but I think it backfired as most people were afraid to ruin any surprises for people who hadn't seen them yet and thus didn't post anything substantive
about the story.

Ok, this might be a completely off the wall idea, but you could... make a web page and post the comic there every week and then have a guestbook and have
people comment, but given the fact that the comic is mainly for PotADG-ers that is not the best idea.
Right now, as far as I can see, there isn't a whole lot going on in the story that I can comment about and sometimes (being one of the only females on here besides Elaine) I am intimidated by all the comments
that the guys write given the fact that I have been "shot down" a few times in the posts that I have posted.
As a writer I know the frustration you are going through trying to get feedback on your comic. In the world of PotA inside and outside of Yahoo Groups reviews are far and few between for artists and writers. I know
that I used to scorn comics, but now after reading the strips from Michael and Neil I have come to appreciate them as works of art and not just something that kids read.
So whether you know it or not your work is probably affecting someones life, but they might just be too shy to speak up about it. I'll try to comment more about the comics, but as it was mentioned before it is
hard not to give anything away because not everyone sees the comics at the same time. Spoilers tend to ruin the story. I'm also looking forward to seeing more of "Going Home".
The story lines and artwork in these comics is beyond compare. So keep up the good work and try not to get too discouraged due to lack of participation. :)

given the fact that the comic is mainly for PotADG-ers that is not the best
idea. Right now, as far as I can see, there isn't a whole lot going on in
the story that I can comment about and sometimes (being one of the only
females on here besides Elaine) I am intimidated by all the comments that the
guys write given the fact that I have been "shot down" a few times in the
posts that I have posted. As a writer I know the frustration you are going
through trying to get feedback on your comic. In the world of PotA inside and
outside of Yahoo Groups reviews are far and few between for artists and
writers. I know that I used to scorn comics, but now after reading the strips
from Michael and Neil I have come to appreciate them as works of art and not
just something that kids read. So whether you know it or not your work is
probably affecting someones life, but they might just be too shy to speak up
about it. I'll try to comment more about the comics, but as it was mentioned
before it is hard not to give anything away because not everyone sees the
comics at the same time. Spoilers tend to ruin the story. I'm also looking
forward to seeing more of "Going Home". The story lines and artwork in
these comics is beyond compare. So keep up the good work and try not to get
too discouraged due to lack of participation. :)

Can you tell me a little about the new fanfics on F&F?
There are several new fan fics by Carol Davis that are posted on Kassidy Rae's website and a few by Shelia Richards (one is a crossover with LotR) and yesterday a new fic was posted at the
group. First person based around Pete (favorite character of all the ladies in the group). A few months ago we had a contestof having to post a short story of 525 words or less so there are several really good
"quick read" stories.
For those of you who do not know, F&F is the "Friends and Fugitives" group, dedicated to the TV Show.
I can post a link later.....

I've probably read the novel at least 50 times over since I bought it last September, but now it has fallen apart. Believe me, I know about text books. But I think
it is nice to learn what other people think instead of just relying on my own thoughts and ideas because I realize that I don't know everything and that other people have differen perspectives than I do.
