That’s what I don’t understand
– is everyone here so miserable that they have to emphasise what they DON’T
like?
I mean if we want to hear from a miserable
bastard we have Rory to fill that void – why is it that so many others
seem to be going down that same path?
Can we hear some things people like about
REVOLUTION? There’s plenty TO
like.

With all due respect – well DUH!
This reminds me of the critics of the Simpsons who say “how come Bart is the same age?

.htmlIt is still in my head, but it's essentially written out. I guess
we're just using different euphemisms. The way I do things
is "write" in my head first, then I just kind of let the words come
out when I type. There's a term for this that I can't remember at
the moment.

I think the word you are looking for is
FRUSTRATING!
How could you really expect someone to
just trust you that what’s in your head is good?
You must rely on people assuming you are
going to do something great! Can you
show us something you have written?

Hi all.
Just to let you know I have loved being here for the past
few years.
This morning I was offered a promotion on a permanent basis
and I accepted.
What this means for me personally is more money, more responsibility and
without doubt, longer hours. Unfortunately
this will inevitably quite seriously affect the amount of free time I will have
left to devote to my favourite subject… Planet of the
Apes.
What I am determined to do is:
1: Finish my commitment to GOING HOME (but not including colouring)
2: Continue to support Simian Scrolls in a much-reduced capacity but to the
best of my ability
3: Finish my “Planet of the Apes Begins” story
Neil has in his possession two more comic scripts of mine - you are free to use
these scripts if you still wish to - although I feel both would benefit from
further re-writes.
Neil has also seen a number of my stories sent for consideration - These
stories remain MINE - If you guys ever want to use them as ideas for future
comics then we can discuss it on a story by story basis.
What I can no longer do is:
1: Be actively involved in the production of any future comic scripts (or the production
of any future comic pages).
2: Pursue personalities, produce, design and collate
the materials required for pages within the POTADG
3: Contribute regularly to the various chat groups. (I’ll probably be
limited to weekends)
I'm sorry if this disappoints any or all of you but I'm sure you can appreciate
this is a huge opportunity for me and that I mean to give it my best shot. If I
manage to screw things up and get dismissed that’ll be me knocking on the
door.
Very best wishes to all,
Michael

I still think Pete should say “Yorrick, I presume?”.

Yeah, I make it a policy to never see a movie that
requires an ape to carry it. I haven't seen the other
Clyde (Manis) movie either. I might have watched
it, but it had Tony Danza in it. I also couldn't bring

I like that last line the way it is, actually. Besides, Pete already made a crack that referenced Yorick in "Up Above the World So High" so if you did the same here some might accuse you of lifting
too much from the TV show.
This page and the previous one look absolutely fantastic. Great attention to detail, Neil. Even though the story doesn't advance much on these pages, it's worth it to take the time to see the horrors the SF
humans have visited upon the apes who have crossed their paths. This is the sort of context I was looking for earlier in the story, to better understand who these people are.
I'd be remiss if I didn't note that their fickle side is showing again, though. Two pages ago they said restraints were no longer necessary for Pete, and now they've gone ahead and thrown him in a cell!
Okay, so maybe Mustapha doesn't have a proper waiting room, but still! Way to welcome the guy into the tribe!

I bought Revolution on the internet so I only received it around a week ago. I loved it and can't wait until the next issue. I thought having Caesar

.html.html
As I watched POTA last night I couldn't help but wonder a few things. I'll stop at six points or else I could go on and on. I love the movies and except the tiny flaws as they are, but
sometime I can't help but wonder why they didn't keep the same writer at least for continuity sake.
1. Wouldn't it have made more sense for the apes to use Brent's ship to go back in time then Taylor's ship? After all his was sitting in the desert and I would assume in better shape then one
that's been under water for some time? We have been wondering if apes go out in water and apparently they do, they would have too. Remember Taylor's ship sank, and they would have to go in the
water and get it, not to mention did they have the technology to even raise it, let alone have the work done by 3 apes and then repair it? How much time did this even take? How do even hide a foray into the a place
that's forbidden in between preparing for a trial?
2. Why didn't Brent's' "Skipper" have a beard when they crashed and just what was Brent's first name? They Name Taylor as George Taylor in the credits of the second film but why?
They never address him in the movie and they don't tell you Brent's' name? I know the cartoon series calls him Ron but that's someone else completely.
3. How much time had passed since Taylor escaped the apes and Brent's arrival? Did the apes have enough time to raise Taylor's ship, repair it, and face trial for Hearsay?
4. Taylor's Earth clock when he lands reads 3978 but when Brent lands his says 3955? Which is correct? Taylor goes on to say "Give or take a decade" fine, but in Escape
his very ship is given the run down by scientists when the President tells Otto Hasselin "Earths destruction was 3955," Did the writer not notice the difference, did he see the first movie what
happened to the other 23 years?
5. What happened in the 870 years to the Humans between Tailors' crash and Pete and Alan's? The humans are completely different and to be honest not a lot of time has passed for them to dumb down
like this to become wild animals let alone for the apes have a hatred for humans and forget all about they were slaves to humans at some point? Did they even know why they hated humans any longer?
6. When the apes march across the Forbidden Zone in Beneath
and they see the ruined City, they look as if to cower in fear? Did they know all of the sudden what it was they were looking at, and know all of the sudden at one time they were enslaved there? <.html

comics that Michael & Neil produce and i've gotta say that i think the list
will be a lesser place without Michael Whitty.
Seems to me he's a guy who is really 'into' this group who contributes or
rather contributed a lot to it and i reckon the lack of his presence will be
strongly felt.

*** The original "EVERY WHICH WAY BUT LOOSE" had Sondra Locke in it,
back when Clint was casting her in just about all his movies (she was
the victim-turned-murderess in one of his DIRTY HARRY sequels). And, of
course, Sondra Locke played Arn in "THE CURE", so she's a POTA veteran.
I wonder if the new version of EWWBL will have cameos by Clint and/or
Sondra? Not that Clint needs the paycheck, but she might.

But sometimes I can't help but wonder why they didn't keep the same writer at least for continuity sake.
That's the sad part of it all, after PLANET, they were all written by Paul Dehn (well, he "co-wrote" BATTLE) and he still messed things up big time as far as consistency in the films... But yeah, it
would have been a lot better had Michael Wilson been willing to continue writing them (and/or Serling, etc.)...
1. Wouldn't it have made more sense for the apes to use Brent's ship to go back in time then Taylor's ship? After all his was sitting in the desert and I would assume in better shape then one that's been
under water for some time? How do even hide a foray into the a place that's forbidden in between preparing for a trial?
Well, they wouldn't have even had an idea of Brent's ship existing... Cornelius & Zira would have been able to tell their friend Milo about where Taylor would have said his ship allegedly sank... At the
time when Milo would have been investigating Taylor's crash sight, C & Z probably would have been dealing with their heresy trial, etc... And, if you look at Brent's ship in BENEATH, you'll see that it
really is in bad shape, what with the back end all burned up... As far as why they'd go into the Forbidden Zone, again, Milo was the one dealing with all of that while C & Z wold have been dealing with their
heresy trial...
2. Why didn't Brent's' "Skipper" have a beard when they crashed and just what was Brent's first
name? They Name Taylor as George Taylor in the credits of the second film but why? They never address him in the movie and they don't tell you Brent's' name? I know the cartoon series calls him Ron but
that's someone else completely.
Well, the SKIPPER did have some stubble, so they didn't totally screw up. But I'd guess the actor didn't have time to grow a full beard and they didn't bother putting a fake beard on him, although they
should have. As far as the Taylor name thing, it is in PLANET that the credits mention him being named George Taylor, not BENEATH... In the novel of BENEATH (and I think the original script too) they name him as John
(Christopher?) if I remember right... (And you cannot count the cartoon as anything when talking of the film, they really are totally unrelated.)
3. How much time had passed since Taylor escaped the apes and Brent's arrival? Did the apes have enough time to raise
Taylor's ship, repair it, and face trial for Hearsay?
Anything about how much time had passed would be pure speculation, but it couldn't have been too long, because Nova was wandering around a short time in the Zone without Taylor... And, again, it was Milo who dealt
with repairing Taylor's ship, so while the events of PLANET were taking place with C & Z, he would have been resurrecting the ship...
4. Taylor's Earth clock when he lands reads 3978 but when Brent lands his says 3955? Which is correct? Taylor goes on to say "Give or take a decade" fine, but in Escape
his very ship is given the run down by scientists when the President tells Otto Hasselein "Earths destruction was 3955," Did the writer not notice the difference, did he see the first movie what happened
to the other 23 years?
3978 is the correct year... PLANET is the first film, so it is "original canon", and what is established in it is the real deal... Dehn (who scripted the sequels) was just careless as far as doing any
cross-checking with the original film... As far as where the other 23 years went, they were always there, just not in Dehn's writings...
5. What happened in the 870 years to the Humans between Taylor's crash and Pete and Alan's? The humans are completely different and to be honest not a lot of time has passed for them to dumb down like this to
become wild animals let alone for the apes have a hatred for humans and forget all about they were slaves to humans at some point? Did they even know why they hated humans any longer?
Well, that's hard to say, unless you just consider that they were dumbing down as each generation was coming around... As far as the apes knowing they were slaves at one point, VERY FEW apes knew "the
truth" about that, so there's really nothing to forget (as the apes in the general population wouldn't have known it anyway, it was part of "The Terrible Secret" which was kept hidden from the
masses...) As to why they hated Humans, the line Galen says to his father would probably apply... The line was something like "It's based upon custom and habit, and you know it..." So, it was probably just
so ingrained in their society that they didn't even bother to question it... In the TV series era, they do know that man is a destructive beast, but I think they just base that mostly on their taboos... But in the
time of PLANET/BENEATH, the apes hate humans because they are an overpopulating, crop and land destroying beast who's numbers have to be kept in check or they'd really cause havoc...
6. When the apes march across the Forbidden Zone in Beneath
and they see the ruined City, they look as if to cower in fear? Did they know all of the sudden what it was they were looking at, and know all of the sudden at one time they were enslaved there?
No, it's nothing to do with that... What the reality is is that they just reused the same footage they shot when they showed the bleeding Lawgiver scene, look at the two scenes and you'll see they are the same
shots...
But, if you want to put it into the context of the film itself, you could guess that some of them are startled at what they see, as they would have never seen a "human city", and one in such disrepair would be
even weirder/shocking for them to see...<.html

| Subject: Re: What was TAYLOR doing? |
|
.html Taylor, in his written testimony to the Tribunal, says of himself, "I
am an explorer in Space".
He also refers to Stewart as a woman who "was to be the New Eve" with
the "hot and eager help" of her male colleagues, of course.
Thus, they were sent out into Space by their government in order to
explore an unnamed planet orbiting a star 320 lightyears away from
Earth in the constellation Orion, AND to colonize it. To keep Stewart
barefoot and pregnant, popping out kid after kid after kid... so that
a human colony could be set up.
Those POTA fans who deny this are ignoring the only plausible meaning
of Taylor's dialogue/monologue with/to Nova, when he tells her (and
us, the audience) what he's REALLY thinking and feeling.
Later, in "BENEATH", Taylor suggests that he and Nova -- just a PAIR
of humans, one male and one female -- "found a colony... all the kids
will learn to talk... sure, they will..."
It's on his mind, this colonization business. I think it's because
founding a colony had been the plan all along. That's why they had a
woman on their ship in the first place (YEARS before NASA put a woman
in a space shuttle). To be "the New Eve". There are just some things
that a male astronaut can NOT do, no matter how dedicated to the
Mission he might be. He can't bear children!
As for the dual clocks, well, the SHIP-TIME clock would be a state-of-
the-art atomic clock, telling time the same way that an atomic clock
on Earth does. The same number of vibrations of cesium atoms per
second dictating how long each SHIP-TIME second lasts... each
minute... each hour... each day, etc.
The trick is to rig up the EARTH-TIME clock to tell these starbound
astronauts what the date is back on Earth (hence, called a "date
meter" by Hasslein in "ESCAPE"). Taylor makes it plain that the
passage of EARTH-TIME is bent due to their ship traveling at a
velocity which is "nearly the speed of light" according to Dr.
Hasslein's Theory of Time. An equation "translates" the SHIP-TIME
date to the EARTH-TIME equivalent, and the digital clock in the ship
displays that date.
The EARTH-TIME clock couldn't itself "prove" Hasslein's Theory: it
could only display the date the stay-at-homes on Earth were
experiencing IF the Theory were true. Landon seems to think that it
MIGHT be wrong, though -- and this is probably just wishful thinking
on his part, since they've just learned that Stewart is dead, and
he's now "the last of the line": he'll die childless. "If we can't
get back, it's still JUST a theory!" he insists. But Taylor knows
better: "It's a FACT, Landon! Buy it: you'll sleep better." He
himself has seen Time bend... he's seen that Space is boundless. He's
seen star systems zip past his ship's view as they sped through Space
towards their destination in Orion.
I've argued elsewhere that Taylor's crew -- who were awake for the
first 6 months of their voyage -- couldn't help but see that
Hasslein's Theory was a fact, since all they really had to do to
prove it was to do a spectrographic study of the variable luminosity
of the star Alpha Orionis (a.k.a. Betelgeuse). Betelgeuse -- as
Boulle reminds us in his source novel -- is "a palpitating star"; it
puffs up like a blowfish ballooning outward... and then shrinks...
and then balloons out again... and shrinks... etc etc. It does this
at a rate of about once every 6 years. Over the course of "nearly 700
years" (from 1972 to 2673), the ANSA astronauts on Taylor's ship
would be able to see Betelgeuse go through its puffing up (and
BRIGHTENING) and shrinking (and DIMMING) cycle around 100 times! In
the course of only 6 SHIP-TIME months, they would see Betelgeuse go
from BRIGHT to DIM to BRIGHT to DIM (etc) at least 100 times, which
an Earth-bound observer could only observe at the rate of once every
6 or so years. That would prove Hasslein's Theory to be true. And all
it takes is a look out the front window, where Betelgeuse surely
would be visible, since they're flying out to somewhere in the Orion
constellation.

ship to go back in time then Taylor's ship? After all his was sitting
in the desert and I would assume in better shape then one that's been
under water for some time? We have been wondering if apes go out in
water and apparently they do, they would have to. Remember Taylor's
ship sank, and they would have to go in the water and get it, not to
mention did they have the technology to even raise it, let alone have
the work done by 3 apes and then repair it? How much time did this
even take? How do even hide a foray into the a place that's forbidden
in between preparing for a trial?
*** The ship in which Brent and his 'skipper' crash-landed became too
damaged to fly again. Brent says that "our computer's shot". It is
impossible for that crashed ship to fly again, given that.
Impossible, too, is it for the sunken ship from "PLANET" to be
repaired and flown up into orbit. Aside from the structural damage
(including the damage to the electronics by the lake water), the
principal objection to this ship's re-fly-ability is that it has no
Power. Taylor mentions this when he orders Dodge to "Blow the hatch,
before we lose Auxiliary Power!" In other words, they'd already lost
their Primary Power, and were on their secondary, backup power. Just
after Dodge pressed the button to blow the hatch, Landon informs
Taylor that he can't get out any radio signal because "the power's
gone!" Without any power, that ship ain't going anywhere!
The ship Milo finds is NOT the ship that sank in the first movie.
This 3rd ship has a cockpit hatch that is not on either Taylor's or
Brent's ship. That detail alone makes it plain that Milo did not
dredge up a sunken spaceship and repair it (etc). He found an intact
ship somewhere on the shore of the ocean, as Cornelius tells the
Presidential Commission. A ship which had a Power supply (obviously,
since they flew it up into orbit) and did not have the damage that
the other 2 ships are seen to have -- and which neither Milo nor any
other ape could possibly repair with their 18th Century-level
technology.
>
> 2. Why didn't Brent's' "Skipper" have a beard when they crashed and
just what was Brent's first name? They Name Taylor as George Taylor
in the credits of the second film but why? They never address him in
the movie and they don't tell you Brent's name? I know the cartoon
series calls him Ron but that's someone else completely.
*** Brent's full name -- according to the script and the Michael
Avallone novelization -- is JOHN CHRISTOPHER BRENT. We never do learn
the first names of Landon, Dodge, and Stewart. As to Why Taylor's
first name is credited as "George", who knows? The name GEORGE comes
ultimately from the Greek, and means "Farmer" (as in "Earth-Worker",
the "Ge-" prefix meaning "Earth" -- as in Geography, Geology, etc --
and the "-org" root [actually, from "ergon"] signifying "work". One
who "works the soil" is a farmer, a tiller of the soil. The Roman
poet Virgil wrote some poetry lauding Farming in a work called "THE
GEORGICS". Does any of this mean that we are supposed to consider
Taylor to have been a person who has something to do with farming?
Probably not. The original name this film character was to have
was "JOHN THOMAS" -- a pun with naughty connotations. In the makeup
test-scene they did with Edward G. Robinson as Zaius, Heston's
character is called "Thomas" if you'll recall. The whole purpose of
initially naming him "John Thomas" was to pun on the whole "Rosebud"
element of "CITIZEN KANE": Hearst had nicknamed his mistress's
clitoris "Rosebud", and Orson Welles took that "in-joke" and made it
the central mystery to be solved: Who (or What) was "Rosebud", the
last word Charles Foster Kane was heard to utter before he croaked.
The idea of giving the film version of "PLANET" a wow-ending similar
to the Rosebud-was-a-sled ending of "CITIZEN KANE" was something that
Serling, for one, was involved with.
But... they eventually changed "John Thomas" (a bit too racy, and a
distraction from the story they were telling) to "George Taylor". I
don't think any of the screenwriters (Serling, Wilson, or that other
guy who did the final polishing) ever have publicly stated their
reason for specifically naming him "George Taylor". Was there any
allegorical meaning intended? If so, I fail to detect it. I think
that the first allegorically intended name in the POTA series
is "CAESAR" -- the meaning of his name is crucial to the story, which
is why there's a scene where Breck has this 'nameless' slave chimp
choose his own name out of a Book of Names. Later, the name "VIRGIL"
also has allegorical meaning -- the orangutan character is linked
thematically with the Roman poet Virgil, who accompanied Dante
Alighieri on his journey into Hell (just as he accompanies Caesar
into the "hell" that is the nuked Forbidden City).
>
> 3. How much time had passed since Taylor escaped the apes and
Brent's arrival? Did the apes have enough time to raise Taylor's
ship, repair it, and face trial for Hearsay?
*** I think you mean "Heresy". Hearsay is something else entirely!
>
> 4. Taylor's Earth clock when he lands reads 3978 but when Brent
lands his says 3955? Which is correct? Taylor goes on to say "Give or
take a decade" fine, but in Escape his very ship is given the run
down by scientists when the President tells Otto Hasselin "Earths
destruction was 3955," Did the writer not notice the difference, did
he see the first movie what happened to the other 23 years?
*** Dehn made mistakes. And I've "unflubbed" 'em! If you peruse the
Message Board archives, I'm sure you'll find umpteen posts by Yours
Truly where I show how it is that the "correct" date is 3955 and
explain why it is that Taylor's ship gives a different date. One
clue: the final EARTH-TIME dates given in the 1st TV episode are off,
too, but there's a reason they should be...
>
> 5. What happened in the 870 years to the Humans between Taylor's
crash and Pete and Alan's? The humans are completely different and to
be honest not a lot of time has passed for them to dumb down like
this to become wild animals let alone for the apes have a hatred for
humans and forget all about they were slaves to humans at some point?
Did they even know why they hated humans any longer?
*** What happened? In all probability, a Race War. The exposure of
the Humans of 3085 to the "infection" of the Astronauts ("feelings of
independence") leads to an armed violent uprising against
the "gorilla brutality" represented by Urko's forces. Call it
an "intifada", if you will. Those advocating a PEACEFUL coexistence
for Ape and Man are sidelined, of course. The gorillas would never go
for giving equality to Humans, and the uppity Humans wouldn't settle
for anything less (see "THE LIBERATOR")... so, in time, the tensions
explode into an all-out war.
Eventually, the better-armed gorillas will decimate the uprising, the
same way that the Romans wiped out all resistance from the Jewish
Zealot movement in Judaea. The vicious anti-semitism that followed
for the Jews in the real world almost pales into insignificance when
compared to the resultant devastation to the Human Race by the
victorious Apes: the Apes do to Man in general what Zaius had his
veterinary surgeons do to Landon in specific: they take his memory,
his identity. They basically de-humanize Humanity.
Man if forced to adapt to an environment where any display of Speech
and Intelligence is punished with the severest brutality. Man learns
to refrain from using his vocal apparatus, and his brain's Speech
Centers atrophy as a result. They learn NOT to talk or to write...
and they know that it is dangerous for any Man to speak or write,
which is why Nova and another primitive human go out of their way to
efface Taylor's writing-in-the-sand: his "I CAN WRITE" message.

*** I doubt it. They are seeing the ruins of a high civilization. So
far, they hadn't seen any monuments like the Statue of Liberty, in
all probability, so the whole business of their ancestors once having
been slaves is moot. They weren't meant to see these traces of a pre-
Lawgiver civilization -- such a notion is considered "profane" at
Taylor's Tribunal Hearing.
Besides, the Ape army had already endured the mind-blowing spectacle
of the illusions: seeing the naked gorillas crucified upside-down in
a burning desert plain... seeing the gigantic statue of the Lawgiver
bleed...
I wonder what Zaius told Ursus, when they saw that NYC skyline
together? Ursus knows that the Forbidden Zone is inhabited... but he
doesn't know by What or by Whom -- he only 'knows' that it isn't
inhabited by Apes. Zaius would have to have explained (to Ursus
alone, if not to all the other gorillas there with them) that those
ruins represent a HUMAN civilization that once flourished, long long
ago... And he might've quoted the Sacred Scrolls: "Let [Man] not
breed in great numbers, FOR HE WILL MAKE A DESERT OF HIS HOME and
yours." In other words, "Ursus, those ruined structures were built by
Man... long ago... when he was an intelligent creature. Intelligent,
yet evil. Bent on their own destruction. They destroyed themselves...
and these ruins are what's left of their once-mighty civilization.
Perhaps, lurking beneath this sand and rock, the descendants of those
fools who destroyed their own world are still alive... They are not
like the humans your gorillas have hunted nearly to extinction,
however. Ursus... THESE are the Unknown. Unknown, but HUMAN, all the
same. And therefore dangerous. They destroyed their own world once.
The fear that they might do so again led to this region being closed
for centuries. Was not the Lawgiver wise to do so?..."
Later, of course, Zaius -- seeing the Alpha Omega bomb, knows that it
is a "weapon built by Man", which cannot be shot down with a clip of
bullets... and which "will kill us all". How does he know this?
Hmmm...

This is a POTA discussion group. Its purpose is to

I don't spend as much time here as do Mike, Neil,
Rory, LordT, Glen, and most everybody else. When my

Why would you say that I "have to stop all this and go

here to post my on-topic POTA comments? Is that it?
Just what is your goddamn problem?
If you bother responding to this, I guess I'll find

gotta log off and go to work. Not that I care, mind

Clint Eastwood and Sondra Locke used to be a couple. Their relationship did not end well.
BTW, Locke is in another classic movie from the same year POTA came out, 1968. It's called THE HEART IS A LONELY HUNTER and I highly recommend watching it sometime.
Locke is also in the movie that beat ESCAPE at the summer boxoffice in 1971. It was called WILLARD.

I post very,very rarely
but i do enjoy reading the posts and also the great comics that Michael &
Neil produce and i've gotta say that i think the list will be a lesser place
without Michael Whitty.
Seems to me he's a guy
who is really 'into' this group who contributes or rather contributed a lot to
it and i reckon the lack of his presence will be strongly felt.

I wonder if the new version
of EWWBL will have cameos by Clint and/or Sondra? Not
that Clint needs the paycheck, but she might.

"Daily Variety" (Jan. 31st) says Fox plans a
promotion for the new "Apes" DVDs (Ultimate Collection and Legacy Collection) at
the end of March when Peter Jackson's "King Kong" premieres on DVD. Fox ads will
say "It takes more than one ape to rule" and "Who's the king now?" . Could this
be the prelude to another volley of interest in "Apes" from Fox?
Also on the day of Kong's release, Warner
Bros. will debut a new special edition DVD of their crappy 1998 "Godzilla"
remake (good, we need that). As for Kong himself, there will be two editions of
the movie (Universal is being tight-lipped about that) and a single-disc release
of the original (no extras like the 2-disc that's out). Monkey biz should be
good the last week of March. Too bad the "Apes" DVDs don't arrive next Tuesday,
the day before the 38th anniversary. - - - Jeff

Hi
all.
Just to let you know I have loved
being here for the past few years.
This morning I was offered a
promotion on a permanent basis and I accepted. What this means
for me personally is more money, more responsibility and without doubt, longer
hours. Unfortunately this will
inevitably quite seriously affect the amount of free time I will have left to
devote to my favourite subjectÂ… Planet of the
Apes. What I am determined to do is: 1:
Finish my commitment to GOING HOME (but not including colouring)
2:
Continue to support Simian Scrolls in a much-reduced capacity but to the best
of my ability
3: Finish my “Planet of the Apes Begins”
story Neil has in his possession two more comic scripts of mine -
you are free to use these scripts if you still wish to - although I feel both
would benefit from further re-writes. Neil has also seen a number
of my stories sent for consideration - These stories remain MINE - If you guys
ever want to use them as ideas for future comics then we can discuss it on a
story by story basis. What I can no longer do is: 1:
Be actively involved in the production of any future comic scripts (or the
production of any future comic pages). 2: Pursue personalities,
produce, design and collate the materials required
for pages within the POTADG 3: Contribute regularly to the
various chat groups. (IÂ’ll probably be limited to weekends) I'm
sorry if this disappoints any or all of you but I'm sure you can appreciate
this is a huge opportunity for me and that I mean to give it my best shot. If
I manage to screw things up and get dismissed thatÂ’ll be me knocking on the
door. Very best wishes to all,
Michael

We need to start a MASSIVE letter writing campaign to remind Fox that Feb. 8, 2008 is the 40th Anniversary. That's when we need the kind of extras we want -- and in High Definition!
We need to start this now. Those of you that don't yet have HD or Progressive scan TVs (especially those in 16x9) can skip these new DVDs coming out at the end of March -- unless you just have to have the
cartoon show. Better to put all your money into stamps and start sending letters every week.

Thanks Anthony.
These gorillas have been stock-piled over the years and they are
in a "forbidden city" where apes do not usually go, so no apes get to go back
and report anything to Urko.
He would have to be aware that a lot of apes go missing and we
were going to explain this in a prequel at some point (if there was ever any
call for it).
So I would have to agree with you - if Urko DID know where all the
missing apes were going he'd be in there like a flash. It is by
coincidence that any apes ARE entering the city (Galen because he is with the
other 2 fugitives and the gorillas because they have specific instructions to
follow the fugitives ANYWHERE - even into the forbidden
areas).
P 19 will explain some of this.....it really is a nice looking
page!
Michael

Yes - this is a highly sought POTA
collectible.
Are they Don Post masks or background masks (can't tell from this
picture)?
Can'tr recall what the tracks are or just how much they have to do
with POTA.....

I would have thought that's WHY it has become a "Forbidden
Area".
The apes are told that there are strange goings on - and obviously
the ones who go in don't come back.
It makes sense to me that the apes are discouraged from going in
AT ALL so that nobody discovers the terrible secret....
My assistant Nigel is about to get fired!

For some reason the gorilla mask looks better quality than the Don
Post ones.....
Looks like Marcus eh?

Are we all ready for p 19 yet?

T, this is an OLD record!
No they don’t still make them.
They fetch around $300 each on eBay.

Wow Mark great to hear from you after all this time. What a pity
though that your post couldn't have been a bit more friendly and
interesting, bit of a long wait to hear just an insult.
By the way you didn't even qoute the right person, Patrick didn't post

in the story, to better understand who these people are.

but still! Way to welcome the guy into the tribe! :)
-- Simple answer to this one Greg. He may have won over the rebels
who were with him and witnessed the 'incident' but he is still
Mustapha's prisoner and as such is going to be held as a prisoner
until the big man himself says whether he can be trusted or not.

Actually it might have all stopped at PLANET.
I would not be in favour of that, but clearly some (Rory - maybe
